00:00Witnesses say it's like an event straight out of movies,

00:03as thieves stole priceless jewelry from the Louvre in broad daylight.

00:09Tour guide video shows visitors being ushered out of the museum moments after the robbery took place.

00:14Joan and Jim Carpenter were visiting from California as the alarm sounded throughout the museum.

00:20And then another round of technical difficulties.

00:22And then off we went back the way we had come in,

00:25past the same galleries and then back down the stairs.

00:29Lots of confusion, lots of misdirection, and then they ran us all out.

00:34Authorities say the thieves used a crane and broke a window straight into the gallery

00:38containing the French crown jewels. They quickly got away on motorbikes.

00:42A French newspaper reports several pieces from the Napoleon collection were taken.

00:46Following the robbery, museum officials announced closing for exceptional reasons.

00:51No word when the museum will reopen.

00:53Well, when you rob the Louvre, that's a big deal to all of France.
