00:08President Donald Trump celebrates the 250th birthday of the Navy in Norfolk, Virginia.
00:14The President, First Lady Melania Trump, and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth
00:18attended military exercises before each addressed hundreds of members of the military.
00:22And at Normandy, the Navy led the greatest armada ever formed
00:26to deliver the single largest invasion force the world has ever seen.
00:31Trump thanked many military brass, but one of the only people to get a standing ovation
00:35was 100-year-old Felix Maurizio.
00:38The World War II veteran was among those who fought in both Normandy and Iwo Jima.
00:43Prior to leaving for Norfolk, the President posted on social media,
00:46The United States has the greatest military, by far, in the world.
00:51This will be a show of naval aptitude and strength.
00:53The remarks come as critics question the timing of the celebration
00:57as the government continues to be shut down.
