00:00New questions this morning about how the Justice Department handled a secret sting operation
00:07involving President Trump's border czar. MSNBC was first to report that Tom Homan was recorded
00:13back in 2024 accepting a bag with $50,000 in cash from undercover FBI agents posing as
00:20businessmen. The agents claimed he agreed to help them land government contracts if Trump won the
00:26election. The case began under the Biden administration but was shut down soon after
00:30Trump took office. The New York Times reports that FBI Director Cash Patel and Todd Blanch,
00:36the Deputy Attorney General, said in a statement they found no credible evidence of wrongdoing
00:41and that Homan never held contract authority. But critics say it raises serious questions
00:47about whether the Justice Department is being used to protect Trump's inner circle.
