00:24And she's preparing for her first Las Vegas residency, Dolly Live in Vegas in December.

00:28I live on spiritual and creative energy.

00:32I want to make things happen, she said of what keeps her motivated.

00:35I believe that I would be sinning if I didn't make the most of everything I feel God has given me to work with.

00:40But in the midst of all of her milestones, she's been privately dealing with the biggest one of all.

00:46The loss of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, in March.

00:50I'm doing better than I thought I would.

00:52The country great told Knox News just two weeks after his death,

00:55noting that he suffered a great deal from various health issues.

00:59I'm at peace that he's at peace, but that don't keep me from missing him and loving him, she shared.

01:05Now, she has no choice but to start over at 79.

01:09So, I'm gonna have to relearn some things.

01:11It's a hole in my heart, you know, but we'll fill that up with good stuff.

01:14So far, apart from If You Hadn't Been There, a tribute ballad to Dean, Dolly hasn't created new songs.

01:21There are several things I wanted to start, but I can't do it.

01:24I'm just putting that all on hold, she said, addressing her inability to pursue songwriting amidst emotional turmoil.

01:33One thing Dolly's good at is putting on a happy front, but it's still raw, an insider revealed.

01:38She remained faithful to Carl, despite being known as a flirt.

01:42They met when she was 18, marrying two years later.
