The Chinese Commerce Ministry on Oct 30 said China and the United States had agreed to extend their temporary trade truce on reciprocal tariffs on each other's goods for another year as part of an agreement they reached after their trade talks in Malaysia last week.
The ministry said China is willing to work with the US to “effectively implement the agreement”.

02:10Hello, everybody. I'll be going to China in April. And he'll be coming here sometime after that, whether it's in Florida, Palm Beach, or Washington, D.C.
02:25So the tone of the meeting seemed very friendly. There seemed to be progress on issues like fentanyl, on soybeans.
02:35There's been talk about moving forward on the TikTok deal, as well as the sale of advanced semiconductors.
02:45But whether they are the most advanced Blackwell trips from NVIDIA, that's not entirely clear.
02:50So a lot of the, I guess, the atmospherics that come out of the meeting seem very positive.
02:56This is the pattern that we've seen in U.S.-China relations.
02:59They seem like they have an agreement. They seem like they have a framework agreement.
03:02And then one side or the other changes their mind, and we go back to more acrimony.
03:06Of course, the implementation takes a little bit longer.
03:09But, you know, the sort of rolling on and rolling off, that can happen very, very quickly.
03:16So while there seems to be positive-sounding noises in this instance, whether they are persistent, whether and to what degree they are meaningful, we'll really have to wait until the details come.
