00:00Welcome to the video from the Car Magazine Tuning Blog.
00:09Today, we're all about the brand new Volkswagen Terra, VW's upcoming compact SUV for the South American market.
00:19If you're looking for information about a different vehicle, feel free to send us an email, a WhatsApp message, or alternatively leave a comment below the video.
00:27After some secrecy and mounting excitement, Volkswagen has finally announced the name of its new entry-level SUV for South America.
00:39The VW Terra, named after the tradition of SUV models starting with the letter T, is set to hit the market in 2025 and will be positioned below the Nevos and T-Cross in the range.
00:50With this, VW is aiming to gain a larger share of the highly competitive market for small SUVs.
00:57The Terra will compete directly with the Fiat Poles and the Renan, both of which are very successful in Brazil.
01:04Visually, the VW Terra is based on a fresh design language from Volkswagen do Brazil.
01:09The design is inspired by new models in Europe and North America and gives the Terra a certain resemblance to a baby giraffe.
01:17Initial images and teasers have shown that the front end will feature a striking bumper with dark contrasting elements, while the headlights will feature LED lights and the daytime running lights will be integrated in the upper area.
01:31At the rear, the Terra will feature a black horizontal panel that connects the taillights.
01:39Below that, the bumper will feature additional silver accents.
01:44A continuous LED light strip at the rear was not implemented for cost reasons.
01:49The Terra will be manufactured at the Taub plant in Brazil, using VW's well-known MQB A0 platform, which is also used in models such as the Polo, T-Cross, Nivis, known in Europe as the T-Go, and the Virtus.
02:04With a length of around 4 meters, the Terra is more compact than the T-Cross and Nivis.
02:09At 2,566 millimeters, its wheelbase is expected to be the same as that of the Polo, placing it directly between its competitors, the Poles and Cardian, which have wheelbases of 25,032 and 2,604 millimeters respectively.
02:29Under the hood, a 1.0 LTSI engine, which is widely used in Brazil, will be installed, which will be used in the 116 horsepower version like in the Polo.
02:39This sets it apart from the more powerful Nevos and T-Cross models, which use the engine in a 128 horsepower configuration.
02:50In the basic trim levels, the Terra will come with a manual transmission, while a 6-speed automatic will be offered in higher trim levels.
03:00Official prices are not yet known, but a look at the competition can provide an initial indication.
03:05The Fiat Pulse costs between 107,990 and 138,990 Brazilian Reals in Brazil.
03:16The Renault Cardin is similarly priced.
03:19That corresponds to a range of around 17,000 euros to 22,200 euros.
