00:32To find out, Lars Kern, Porsche development driver, took to the Formula One circuit in Shanghai to push the TCAN Turbo GT to its limits.
00:43Critics often question whether electric vehicles can consistently deliver top performance without thermally overloading the battery, electric motors, brakes, or tires.
00:52Such loads can indeed place considerable strain on the engine and other components.

01:17To complete 5 consecutive laps, each just 10 seconds slower than the record time, and to do so with a high-charge battery at 94%.
01:26He is supported by the so-called circuit mode, which cools the battery temperature to 12 degrees Celsius and thus maintains constant power.
01:38The tires chosen were Pirelli Trofeo RS, which are particularly characterized by their sporty characteristics and are therefore ideal for the racetrack.
01:50Kern began his test run and completed the first 5 laps around 2 minutes and 20 seconds each.
01:56But instead of heading to the pit lane after the 5th lap as planned, he decided to continue.
02:03Laps 6, 7, 8, and 9 were consistently completed in a similar time range.
02:10The team in the pits watched with excitement as the Tayan Turbo GT continued to impress on the track, with no signs of a drop in performance.
02:18Only after 10 laps and almost 55 kilometers did Kern stop the take and let the car coast to a stop.
02:26He still completed the final lap in an impressive time of 2 minutes and 28 seconds, and the average across all laps was a stable 2 minutes and 20 seconds.
02:38Despite the intense workload, the TCAN's tires, brakes, and engine were still capable and could have shown even more staying power.
02:48The TCAN finished the experiment with 15% remaining charge, demonstrating that the vehicle remains consistent even at high speeds and sustained loads.
03:01Back in the pits, the result was palpable, but Lars Kern remained relaxed.
03:07I knew I could do more than just 5 laps, so I just kept going.
03:13The TCAN is simply an incredibly good electric sports car.
