00:00The witch is dead, witch is dead.
00:08Peace out, Stella.
00:10Will I miss Stella?
00:11No.
00:12There's one less person to worry about.
00:14Did you have any dreams?
00:16We all had to make sweetheart neckline dresses out of chiffon and pop tarts.
00:22Did you drink before you went to sleep?
00:25We are the only room that's had three winners.
00:27I know.
00:28The girls are rocking it.
00:30At this point, I'm feeling like I really am one of the best.
00:34I'm feeling really confident.
00:36I'm going to win this competition.
00:38So let's go see what Ms. Klum says our next challenge is all about.
00:43I'm so excited.
00:54Hello.
00:55Hi.
00:55Before we talk about your next challenge, let's bring out the winning and losing designers' models.
01:12Leanne, you were the winner of the last challenge.
01:15Your model was Carolyn.
01:16Carolyn, if you decide to stay with her, Kendall will be out.
01:20What do you want to do?
01:22I love working with Carolyn and I absolutely have to stay with her.
01:25That means Kendall, you're out.
01:33Auf Wiedersehen.
01:37I can't get home.
01:39Bye.
01:40For your next challenge, I have some special guests.
01:47Let's bring them out.
01:49Special guests, plural.
01:53Surprise coming.
01:56Aw.
01:57Oh my gosh.
01:59Hey.
02:01Out comes the past designers that were eliminated.
02:05Oh my God.
02:09You were sent home.
02:10I mean, when it's over, it's over.
02:11We're back.
02:13Remember these faces?
02:15Yes.
02:16I mean, it's good to see all of them, but it all depends on what they're here for.
02:20I would like to welcome back our previously eliminated designers.
02:25For this challenge, each of you will be working with one of them to create an avant-garde look.
02:31At least that makes me feel a little bit better because I can pull something avant-garde out of my ass all by myself.
02:36Don't worry.
02:37This is not an opportunity for the previously eliminated designers to get back into the competition.
02:44They're here only to inspire and help you.
02:47I usually work alone when I'm designing, so I'm a little concerned about who I might get paired up with.
02:53Tim is waiting in the workroom to help you select teams.
02:57Good luck, and I see you on the runway.
02:59Bye.
03:09Welcome, everyone.
03:11As Heidi said, for this challenge, you will be working in teams of two to create an avant-garde look.
03:17What Heidi didn't say is that this look must be inspired by the astrological sign of one member of your team.
03:25I have to say I'm very happy to have an inspiration.
03:27To just say, create an avant-garde look could be anything.
03:31Yeah, I'm going to make a sock, put it over my head and call it avant-garde.
03:34Designers who are still in the competition, you have been arranged according to the month and day of your birth, and that is the order in which we will proceed.
03:43I will be selecting names out of our black velvet bag to determine the teams.
03:49Kato, you're an Aquarius.
03:51You're first.
03:52I'm like, God, Jesus, help me.
03:54You are working with Kelly, who is a Cancer.
04:00Kelly won the Gristini's Challenges, which is about innovation, so I know she has what it takes to put this look together.
04:05Kenley, you are also an Aquarius, and you will be working with Wesley, who is a Scorpio.
04:12Cool.
04:15Joe, you are an Aries, and you will be working with Daniel, who is a Sagittarius.
04:21All right.
04:22Lee-Ann, you are a Libra.
04:25I'm just crossing my fingers and chanting over and over again, Emily or Jennifer.
04:30Emily or Jennifer.
04:32And you will be working with Emily, who is a Scorpio.
04:38Blaine, you are also a Libra, and you will be working with Stella, who is a Scorpio.
04:45Stella.
04:46I love you, babe.
04:47I love you, Blaine.
04:49Terry, you are a Sagittarius.
04:53If I'm paired with Keith, it's not going to be pretty.
04:56You will be working with Keith, who is a Leo.
05:01Keith and I do not have nothing similar as far as design and creativity.
05:05I am, like, screwed.
05:08Jerell, you are also a Sagittarius, and you will be working with Jennifer, who is a Taurus.
05:14Ah, good time.
05:16Suede, you are our last Sagittarius.
05:20This is easy.
05:20You are working with Jerry.
05:21Jerry is a Libra.
05:24What do you want me to do?
05:25You have two days for this challenge, all right?
05:30You have 30 minutes to caucus as a team and to determine which astrological sign you're going to use.
05:37I have a dossier for each team about all of the astrological signs, all right?
05:43I'll pass these out.
05:44Your 30 minutes is going to begin right now.
05:52What are you, Libra?
05:53Yeah.
05:53Just in general, Libra is an air sign.
05:56Right.
05:57It believes in justice, equality.
05:59The Libra colors are, like, ivory, pink, turquoise.
06:02Those are my colors!
06:04I just thought about having fabric that look like water, like waves.
06:08I'm an Aquarius, so we are trying to do a garment that reflects the flow and the...
06:14The color of water.
06:15Okay, I guess we could still do silver.
06:17Yeah, this one has silver.
06:19It's unconventional.
06:21Eccentric.
06:22My sign is Aquarius, so I immediately wanted to go with my sign.
06:27I think it's perfect for my design aesthetic.
06:29Signs are really actually kind of on point.
06:32This is me.
06:35Positive.
06:36Adventurous.
06:37Carefree.
06:38Fun-loving.
06:39Hey, I'm me.
06:40What can I say?
06:41Which one do you want to do?
06:42Jennifer and I chose my zodiac sign, which is Sagittarius.
06:46And we can make, like, an arrow or something, like the archer.
06:49The ram for Aries, right?
06:54Like a seashell.
06:55Something like a horn.
06:56See how the horn of the ram is?
06:57Yeah.
06:58And then we could just play off that.
07:00Yeah, I don't want it to be too literal.
07:03Yeah, I don't want it to be too literal.
07:04Too literal.
07:05Yeah.
07:06I just drew a scorpion.
07:08I am a Libra, which is all about balance, but I don't think it really fits me.
07:13I'm really not that much of a balanced person.
07:16So I automatically decide that I want to do something for Scorpio just because I don't want to make an outfit where the girl's holding out her arms and has two scales dangling from it.
07:27I think it would be great if we played with scale.
07:29The idea of scale and weight, you know?
07:31That's beautiful.
07:32She can come walking down with her arm up.
07:36All right, designers.
07:38Time's up.
07:39Let's go shopping.
07:41We need to go there.
07:44Oh my gosh, what's this?
07:46No, that's blue ground.
07:47No, no, no.
07:48We have $250 for our budget.
07:51I told Wesley, you just run to the back wall and you find me an amazing plaid.
07:57He takes direction really well.
07:59Go downstairs to upholstery, look for a zebra frame.
08:02Turquoise is another one of our colors, too.
08:04It's not bad.
08:05Yeah.
08:06More tan gold rather than gold gold.
08:07Lioness color, yeah.
08:08We chose Kisan and Kisan is Leo.
08:11Give me direction, though, so I can get more.
08:13Give me like this color.
08:14I don't understand why he can't grasp the concept.
08:17They have fake like fur.
08:18Terry wanted to do this huge faux fur collar piece, and I was like, don't use faux fur.
08:23Fur like this.
08:24Beautiful.
08:25You're creating a lion costume.
08:27It's not going to work.
08:28Hey, Blaine.
08:29Barbarilla.
08:30Yeah.
08:31You don't need a super thick.
08:32Wait, where's my fusible?
08:33Everybody, time is up.
08:36Yay!
08:37Thank you, Mood.
08:45Oh, look.
08:46Operation car.
08:47Oh, my God, dude.
08:52All right, so what are we going to do now?
08:55Engineer it where these are hanging off the back.
08:58Jerry and I got silk charmeuse in two different shades of blue.
09:03We've talked about doing halter jumpsuit, very low V in the front.
09:07We decide to go with Jerry's sign Libra because we want to move away from the whole animal look.
09:13Do we really need to trace it?
09:14Can we just cut it over?
09:15Keith's skill level is not the same as mine, so I don't know what I'm going to do.
09:23Why don't you get the pieces and I'll just sew whatever you want me to sew.
09:26You don't even have to touch a sewing machine.
09:28Well, I'm going to touch a sewing machine.
09:29Either way.
09:30Just be gentle with me right now, okay?
09:31Okay.
09:32I'm kind of fragile.
09:33I don't want to fight with Terry, but I just, you know, recently was sent home, and that's
09:42a little bit difficult for me.
09:44I'm just trying to think of how you'll get the most work out of having me here.
09:48Maybe he can count the pins that fall on the floor.
09:53Coming up on Project Runway.
09:55It's like you took a school marms old winter coat and tried to make it into a couture dress
09:59Do you want to do the bodice in this?
10:10In this.
10:11Right, okay.
10:12Yeah, yeah, yeah.
10:13And then that'll be on top.
10:14The avant-garde look that we're going to be designing will be inspired by one of the
10:19astrological signs of our team.
10:22I'm an Aries.
10:23It's Ram.
10:24I think Ram is a great animal to use as an inspiration.
10:27Like that.
10:28Great that looks.
10:29Do you think it should be fatter on the sides?
10:31I think if you just go in a little on the bottom.
10:33Dip?
10:34Yeah.
10:35Just slightly in and you'll see it.
10:37You have to be cautious of this.
10:38This is what I love.
10:39This is really a share.
10:40I don't think we're going to do this.
10:41I had a pass of one awards for avant-garde design.
10:43Avant-garde means fashion forward.
10:45Something new and refreshing for the audience to see that they've never seen before.
10:50No, you'll freak out when you see this.
10:53Aquarius is very strong and progressive like me, so I want to make an exaggerated silhouette.
11:00That's fierce.
11:01I love.
11:02It's fierce.
11:03Ken Lee is insanely overconfident about her design.
11:07I don't care.
11:08I love it.
11:09It's crazy, man.
11:10And she's being so loud about it.
11:12It's just beyond annoying.
11:14It just never shuts off.
11:16No.
11:17I hate when people talk right in front of me.
11:19What's going on?
11:20What's going on?
11:21What's going on?
11:22I can see Leanne and Emily rolling their eyes and sort of just acting like, oh, I'm
11:28so sick of her and blah, blah, blah, blah.
11:30Mm-hmm.
11:31I see it.
11:32I'm just having fun and some girls don't like that.
11:42Hi, everybody.
11:43Hi, Tim.
11:44So, Blaine, Stella.
11:45So, what we're going to do is kind of, you know, this Libra.
11:49She's all kind of like nude and when there's a situation that arises, she begins to manifest
11:54that situation.
11:55What does that mean, though?
11:56The left side will begin to manifest like all these colors.
11:59Oh.
12:00So, it's going to be, and we're also adding these leather straps.
12:04But can I ask why?
12:06Kind of like strapping you down and like giving you the rules and like holding you in.
12:10Just make certain that there's cohesion among all the parts, okay?
12:13Holla at your boy.
12:14Do it, do it.
12:15That went well.
12:16I don't think you got us yet, but it'll be good.
12:19Jarrell.
12:20Jennifer.
12:21Our sign is Sagittarius, which is the archer.
12:24So, we're kind of playing off this like armor kind of vibe for the skirt and kind of fluidity
12:29with the top.
12:30Talk to me about this fabric choice for this dress.
12:33I'm totally perplexed.
12:34I don't know.
12:35It's like you took a school marms old winter coat and tried to make it into a couture dress.
12:40I know it's bold, but I think when you see it all together, the way this fabric's going
12:43to play off that fabric and the different textures.
12:45You are so out there on that precipice.
12:48This will either win or it's going to crash and burn.
12:52I'm intrigued.
12:53Okay, it'll be gorgeous.
12:54Do it.
12:55Thanks, Jarrell.
12:57You can't play a table.
12:58You know, I don't want to.
12:59It's avant-garde.
13:00Yeah.
13:01Leanne, Emily.
13:03Okay, well, we are doing Scorpio.
13:06And it's your sign, right, Emily?
13:07That's my sign, yeah.
13:08So, the symbol is the scorpion.
13:10The exterior is very hard and kind of like an exoskeleton.
13:14And then, essentially, it's just wrapping around and encasing.
13:19I love the whole exoskeleton idea.
13:21Thanks.
13:22All right, you just have a lot to do.
13:24Yeah.
13:25A lot to do.
13:26Go for it.
13:27Thank you, thank you.
13:28Can you pin this, Wesley?
13:30Yeah.
13:31And put the bustier over it, please?
13:33Sure.
13:34So, Kenly, Wesley.
13:36I'm trying to give you a visual, but there's a sketch.
13:39Okay.
13:40This is a plaid shirt underneath a bustier with a zebra printed belt, a floral skirt.
13:51What do you think?
13:53There is a fine line between avant-garde and costume.
13:58I mean, it looks like...
13:59What costume is this?
14:00What play is this in?
14:01It looks like Glinda, the Good Witch of the North.
14:03It's hot.
14:04She would never be this fabulous.
14:05Don't listen to me.
14:06Don't listen to me.
14:08It's gonna be awesome.
14:09I can't wait to show the judges.
14:11Good luck to you both.
14:12All right, thank you.
14:13It's gonna look really good.
14:15Kenly has full control over the garment, and I don't want to add to it because I feel
14:21like it's gonna get ripped apart in the wrong way.
14:24So, Terry, Keith.
14:26Hello.
14:27How are the two of you?
14:28It's okay.
14:29I'm doing Leo.
14:30Is that why this fur is under here?
14:32Yes.
14:33Because I was like, maybe it can be the collar piece.
14:35Of course, the leather is the skin of the lion.
14:38I think you'll benefit from having this clearly look as though it just belongs to this dress.
14:42Okay.
14:43And Keith is nothing if not innovative in his thinking.
14:47So, just, I hope this is a good synergy between the two of you.
14:57Personally, I think there's a different way we could probably construct this and still get drama out of it.
15:01But, um, well, nothing.
15:03That's the most feedback I've gotten.
15:05When I asked about this, you were all for it.
15:08No, I've never been right all for it.
15:10Oh, my gosh.
15:11Come on.
15:12Don't call me, darling.
15:13Right when we first brainstormed, I tried to give you something that I felt was more higher-end and chic.
15:16And that's...
15:17You said ruffles.
15:18That was all you gave me.
15:19But it's okay.
15:20You have to make it work.
15:21Mm-hmm.
15:22Okay, guys.
15:25All right, designers.
15:27I'm going to leave you.
15:29And I'll see you tomorrow.
15:30Trust me, Terry, you're not the easiest person to work with.
15:33I'm trying.
15:34I'm getting your straps sewn together.
15:37What a nightmare.
15:40I'm really nervous.
15:41I have so much frickin' work to do.
15:57We are going to need to be working probably until the very last minute.
16:02I pray to God I have enough time to finish my design.
16:05But I already know I'm not gonna.
16:07So I'm already pre-planning, stressed.
16:09You guys ready to go parsing?
16:10Let's go team in!
16:14Here we go.
16:15So we walk into the work room and there's a note from Heidi.
16:30Tonight at 8 o'clock you are invited to showcase your zodiac designs for our select audience.
16:36At the Rose Center for Earth and Space of America Museum of Natural History.
16:40One more thing, two designers will be eliminated in this challenge.
16:45Are you serious?
16:48That's heavy duty.
16:50We gotta bust this shit.
16:52Ouch.
16:53We ain't playing right now.
16:54And now we're like rushed.
16:59Now I don't have until midnight.
17:02We're showing our looks at 8pm.
17:04me.
17:05Uh, yeah.
17:06That ain't cool.
17:07People are rushing and like getting nervous.
17:08But I'm not worried about people losing.
17:09I'm worried about Blaine losing.
17:10That's it.
17:11Tack.
17:12Tack.
17:13Yeah.
17:14Tack.
17:15We're behind, but I just try to assure Gato that I will do the best of my abilities
17:30to help her pull this off.
17:31Here I can do it for you.
17:32I'll do it.
17:33I just wanna make sure it's supposed to be like that.
17:36We can totally get this done.
17:37Yeah.
17:38Totally.
17:39I think we should leave it open.
17:42Should I do anything down here?
17:45Just why are we whispering?
17:51What is your look of concern?
17:53I'm not look of concern.
17:54I just want it done.
17:56Oh.
17:57Here, jump in.
17:58No look of concern.
17:59Do you like pins?
18:00I got it.
18:01Terry pushes me aside and I ask her, what can I do?
18:04And she continually tells me nothing.
18:09I'm not gonna stand here looking like a fool because she's an angry, bitter person.
18:14I can only try for so long.
18:17But I did try, man.
18:19Well, .
18:20You defend your lion.
18:21I totally feel you.
18:22You're main in everything.
18:23I do not design for the Lion King.
18:25Hi, everybody.
18:26Hi, Tim.
18:27I am about to send in your models.
18:40You will have an hour to prepare them and you for our party at the American Museum of Natural History.
18:46Okay.
18:47And I have a special announcement to make.
18:49There will be no immunity for this challenge, nor for any future challenges.
18:54No more immunity.
18:55It's getting serious now.
18:56We're in the homestretch, that's for sure.
18:58Homestretch down to Bryant Park.
19:00I'll be back to get you in an hour.
19:02And I'm gonna send in your models.
19:07Wow, we are all running around like chickens with our heads cut off yet again.
19:13I feel like that's gonna be funny unless you want me to just stitch along that edge here.
19:16Yeah.
19:17Okay, we just need to cinch up the dress.
19:19I'm really, really nervous that I might run out of time to complete my design.
19:24Can you hold it up, please?
19:26It doesn't fit.
19:27Time is running out and there isn't any time to make mistakes.
19:32Wesley, I need your help.
19:34Looking around the workroom, I'm not impressed with anyone's design.
19:37Mine is the only one that looks avant-garde.
19:40And I feel like I got this challenge in the bag.
19:44I'm sewing into nothing.
19:47I have pinned my entire outfit together and it's gonna have to go to the planetarium like that
19:52because I don't have time to sew.
19:54All right, designers and models, this is it. Come with me, please.
19:58We have a party tonight.
19:59The only thing I expect is the unexpected.
20:01I got the sweat in there.
20:03Stella.
20:04I'm not even really trying to guess because I know I'm gonna get it wrong.
20:11Coming up on Project Runway.
20:13Why is the boobs down here?
20:15If Heidi's talking nonsense, I'm gonna demonstrate.
20:23We have an invite to a party tonight at the planetarium.
20:27Two people are gonna be eliminated after this, so we're not really sure what we're getting into.
20:33I don't have a clue who this special guest is, but I think it's gonna be fun, so I'm ready.
20:37The planetarium is beautiful.
20:42There's lights cascading everywhere.
20:44It's just really cool.
20:50Hey, babe.
20:51Hey, babe.
20:52Hi.
20:53Oh, my God.
20:54It's previous designers from different seasons of Project Runway.
20:58Hey.
20:59I see Daniel.
21:00I see Christian, Carmen, Alison, Robert, Jay, first season winner, and I see Cara.
21:06Hi, everybody.
21:07Hi.
21:08I would like to welcome you to the Rose Center for Earth and Space at the American Museum of Natural History.
21:15I've invited some of my favorite New York designers to the soiree, and they're here to pick the winner.
21:23I don't know how I feel about the past designers picking the winner, because a lot of our presentations are not 100%.
21:30We won't announce who it is until tomorrow's runway show.
21:33So tonight, let's have some fun.
21:36And let's pop some bottles.
21:37Let's go.
21:38I'm an Aquarius, strong, inventive, rebellious.
21:51Why is the boobs down here?
21:53They're not pushed up.
21:54I don't want, you know, they're not.
21:56Heidi.
21:57Heidi.
21:58Look.
21:59Look it.
22:00Look it, Heidi.
22:01They're where yours are right now.
22:02Look where yours are, and look where mine are.
22:04They are where yours are.
22:07If Heidi's talking nonsense, I'm going to step in and kind of set her straight.
22:11Tell her where boobs are.
22:14What sign is this?
22:17It's .
22:18It's absolutely stunning and mysterious.
22:22Totally fits the whole, you know, zodiac sign that you're pulling off the Leo.
22:28And she'll fire your son.
22:29I think you're Leo, yeah?
22:30Yeah, I am Leo.
22:31Cool.
22:32So it's all fire your son, and you feel the heat.
22:35Terry won't even talk to me at the planetarium.
22:38Either way, I don't feel like it's my garment, so I'm kind of disconnected.
22:42So does this come off, though?
22:43Oh, that totally comes off.
22:44Yeah, because I think it's like that kind of fast.
22:46Like, she can totally take that off on the runway, you know.
22:49It's prettier now.
22:50Christian doesn't like the collar, but that's what my look is kind of geared to.
22:54So what can a girl do?
22:57She's our airy Libra girl.
22:59And then what are the other sides of Libra?
23:01Scales.
23:02I mean, that's what we brought through here on the sleeve, as well as down on the hem, here on the back.
23:06I do like the shape.
23:07I just don't know if I agree with repeating it so much in one look.
23:11Can you guess our song off the bat?
23:13Aquarius?
23:14Oh, you got it.
23:15Let's water, man.
23:17Don't do it, though.
23:18What else is it?
23:19It's the dawning of the age of Aquarius.
23:22I don't find the collar very attractive.
23:25It reminds me of old women's underwear.
23:28Granny painting?
23:29A little bit.
23:30But do you understand from the challenge, like, what I'm trying to portray?
23:36Think out of the box, Heidi.
23:40One, two, three, four, five, six.
23:43You know, six trims and seven different, you know, in a fabric on one jacket.
23:47It's very subtle.
23:48It's a great job.
23:50This bodice, it's so beautifully made.
23:53No, thank you.
23:54It's a pillar of, like, fire and strength.
23:56Wow, that's so poetic.
23:59As soon as you said Scorpio, though, I get it.
24:01I could feel this kind of clenching, cinching, clawing, yeah.
24:06It's sexy.
24:07It reminds me to feel literal, like...
24:09It's not at all.
24:10It's a this, and it looks like a this.
24:12I don't know who the winner is going to be.
24:15It's hard to know what the previous season designers are looking for.
24:19Okay, I'm gonna go vote.
24:20Rock the vote.
24:21Best of luck with everything.
24:28Okay.
24:29I picked the winner.
24:30Last night, Christian didn't like the collar.
24:48I was like, bye-bye, road kill.
24:50So, I'm adding the color to the front of the dress.
24:53I'm working the lawn, and I gotta get this job done.
25:02Good morning, designers.
25:03Hi, Tim.
25:04Good morning, Tim.
25:05So, designers, I'm about to send in your models.
25:07You will have an hour to send them to the Theresa May Hair Salon
25:10and the L'Oreal Paris makeup room.
25:12Okay.
25:13Great.
25:14Thank you, Tim.
25:20Do you have any, um, of the pads?
25:23Uh, I think, yeah.
25:24To put in your bra?
25:25Let's put those in.
25:26I fixed the Boussier for Heidi.
25:28She was telling me, you know, where's her boobs?
25:31And I was like, my model doesn't have boobs.
25:33I have to stuff her.
25:35Maybe if we put a strap here to where the dress is,
25:38so at least that's what's holding it up.
25:41I have a ton of sewing to do.
25:42My look is completely pinned together.
25:44So, I'm just gonna have to step it up, make it work.
25:48You going to hair first?
25:53Super, kinda like slicked over.
25:56I like her hair piled up.
25:59You look like a football player.
26:04Yeah.
26:05Yeah.
26:06I think you have a feather on you, see?
26:12Designers, you have ten minutes before we have to leave
26:15for our runway show.
26:17That pounding concerns me.
26:20How much more of that hammering do you have to do?
26:23What, you want me to hammer your head now, too?
26:26I will not get done with everything I need to do.
26:29Nice.
26:30Can you stitch this or no?
26:31I can stitch it.
26:32It makes Suede really, really sad that two people are going home tonight.
26:38It's intense.
26:39Suede is the winner.
26:41Do it again, Suede.
26:42What's that?
26:43Nothing.
26:44It looks really glamorous.
26:47They're not really cool.
26:48I love it.
26:49I think Kenley's is just truly Mickey Mouse.
26:54So, she certainly should be in the bottom.
26:57Yeah.
26:58All right, designers.
26:59Time is up.
27:01Follow me, please.
27:03Let's get the let out.
27:04We're coming.
27:05All right, Kato, Kelly.
27:06We're coming.
27:07We're coming.
27:08I've actually finished my garment.
27:10There are no pins holding it together.
27:12I'm actually proud of myself.
27:13Where's Keith?
27:14Keith?
27:15Keith.
27:16Hey there.
27:17Time to head down to the runway.
27:19All right.
27:20I'm up.
27:21You good.
27:22The show is about to begin.
27:23Perfect.
27:24Coming up on Project Runway.
27:25It just looks haphazard.
27:26I mean, come on.
27:27She is pooping fabric.
27:28Oh, that's bad.
27:29Hello.
27:30Hi.
27:31Howdy.
27:32Welcome to the runway.
27:33As you know, in fashion, one day you're in, and the next day, you're out.
27:36For this challenge, we invited our eliminated designers back to help you create an
27:41avant-garde look inspired by one team member's astrological sign.
28:00Last night, I invited some of my favorite New York designers from past seasons to choose
28:05the winning look.
28:07The votes are in, and we'll let you know the results a bit later.
28:10Let's meet the judges.
28:12First, we have Top American Designer Michael Kors.
28:15Hey, guys.
28:16Hey, Michael.
28:17Nina Garcia, Editor-at-Large for Elle Magazine.
28:20Welcome back, everyone.
28:21You too.
28:22And Francisco Costa, Women's Creative Director for Calvin Klein Collection, and CFDA Women's
28:28Wear Designer of the Year.
28:29Hello, everyone.
28:30Hey, how's it going?
28:31We will score your designs as they come down the runway.
28:34One of you will be named the winner.
28:36And tonight, two of you will be out.
28:41Let's start the show.
28:48It's a conceptual garment.
28:49I mean, it's definitely interesting to look at.
28:51It's just so great.
28:53This outfit represents a Libra.
28:56It's unbalanced.
28:57It's got an explosion of emotion.
29:00It's bling.
29:05Aquarius is eccentric, rebellious, eclectic, and it's me.
29:12Kenley may have missed the challenge just a little bit.
29:16I would not be able to interpret Aquarius for that at all.
29:22I'm proud of myself because there is no tape.
29:25It's Terry.
29:27I think Terry's design looks cheap, and her design aesthetic, it's questionable.
29:39It looks like Aquarius.
29:40I see the water in the air.
29:42It has a great flow to it, and I love it.
29:52Aries is a fire sign.
29:54The skirt was erupting in fire, and the bodice turned into the peak of the flame.
29:59I think Daniela has created a really great, dynamic garment.
30:02She's representing Sagittarius.
30:12Positive, outgoing, adventurous, fun-loving.
30:17What can I say?
30:18I'm me.
30:19There's just a flow and an elegance to this look that you'd have to be blind not to see.
30:24My garment represents Scorpio because it has this strongness and structure.
30:36It's really cool and very avant-garde.
30:39My garment's definitely light and airy, sophisticated and chic.
30:40I'm happy with the way it turned out.
30:41I helped inspire this garment for Suede.
30:42And I'm very proud and happy that he actually listened to me, and we came up with something
30:44very beautiful.
30:45We've scored your designs.
30:47Will the following teams please step forward?
30:49Kato's team.
30:50Jharrel's team.
30:51The tournament's definitely light and airy, sophisticated and chic.
30:54I'm happy with the way it turned out.
30:56I helped inspire this garment for Suede.
30:58And I'm very proud and happy that he actually listened to me.
31:00And we came up with something very beautiful.
31:04We've scored your designs.
31:06Will the following teams please step forward?
31:09Kato's team Jerell's team Leanne's team Joe's team if I have called your name
31:25one of you will be the winner of this challenge but you're gonna have to wait
31:31to find out you can leave the runway the remaining teams have the lowest scores
31:48and two of you will be out okay I would like to start with Blaine's group I
32:09chose Libra for my sign and which is my sign and I really wanted to play with
32:14weight and scale because the Libra is scale so with this being the simple
32:20side this being you know obviously a heavier side so you can see more of a
32:25tilt it just looks half-hacert it doesn't look like you spent a lot of time with
32:30it we actually hand sewed everything so it's just the one-legged monster here I
32:38think it's interesting I don't find it effective I don't think it's bringing me
32:41forward you know I think it's very almost costumate it just does not look
32:47pretty to me if you wouldn't mind turning around I mean come on we had this once
32:53before another year she is pooping fabric come on it's just I'm happy for odd beauty
33:00this is just odd Terry tell us about your look my look is Leo the fire sign and the Sun so I wanted
33:11to create like the heat coming from it I did some changes based on feedback from yesterday because it
33:19was looking maybe a little the whiz so I got rid of her collar you're the Leo no who's the Leo you're
33:26the Leo and what's your sign Sagittarius is that well oh you guys are perfect together perfect oh oh
33:33maybe not oh was there a tug-of-war going on here basically my partner walked out on me how do you
33:39work with someone that won't even talk to you yesterday she wouldn't even talk to me it was horrible he
33:43left for like an hour and a half and barely can I just say something quite frankly you are never
33:48gonna have a serious career unless you can have other people collaborate with you and help you this
33:54just looks like a costume I mean she's kind of like voodoo princess in hell my god I just find
34:01there's no strength to it and for a lyric it should have been powerful I'm really shocked to hear these
34:07comments seriously it's just that the taste all of a sudden flew out the window push the envelope but
34:12it's got to be with taste
34:17Kenley tell us about your look sure I'm an Aquarius and that was the inspiration for my garment and I
34:23took the thoughts out of my head and I I took a chance and I thought it turned out really cool
34:29what puzzled me was I don't think it has anything to do with the zodiac I was definitely inspired by
34:35the Aquarius rebellion strength strong and purple but it almost feels like you did whatever you
34:42wanted to do without disregarding what the challenge was it doesn't to me look like something I haven't
34:52seen before and quite honestly it's kind of Dolce Gabbana on the bottom I don't look at and then we've
34:59got Victor and Rolf going on on the top and in a weird way I don't find it that shocking I mean I
35:04actually have seen clothes like this this is avant-garde listen Kenley avant-garde means something we
35:10haven't seen sweet tell us about your look well sweet and Jerry chose Libra and what we were most
35:19inspired by was the scale which is also the main sign for Libra personally I just thought avant-garde you
35:26have to be pushing the envelope a little bit more sweet didn't want to take it too crazy so refined is
35:31really where I kept coming back to yes I see that it is refined but it's bordering on the expected now
35:39they probably would have played just with the proportion itself because it's there but needed
35:44to be really brought to the next level you know it's not the I need to make this and put it in a
35:49department store challenge okay we've heard what you had to say you can leave the runway thank you
36:01all right we have a big decision to make because two are going home today let's start with Blaine why
36:15don't we it really was a disaster yeah I agree I mean it's just bad what to look at that wasn't
36:22avant-garde it was just ridiculous it's a fashion joke it was a joke oh that's bad but true
36:28did you like Kenley I just thought that it didn't say Aquarius I think that she went into this kind
36:38of like this is what I'm doing I don't really care if you think it looks like Aquarius and I do think
36:44she gets very defensive with any criticism even the defensiveness of I have no idea what other
36:50designers are doing you know what to be a designer you have to know what's happening in the world I think
36:56she's being more tourists than anything because boy is she stubborn let's move on to Terry I really
37:06hated this outfit it just looked overall cheap you know if Terry would have been smart she would have
37:13said hey Keith what do you think you know instead they had war it just bothers me that she didn't take
37:20responsibility you know I mean because he just walked on me well you know we have assistants that
37:24would just walk on you and you still have to put a show together suede could have pushed the envelope a
37:31little bit more boring what can I tell you that is it's boring literally from the front it looked like
37:37clothes off of the department store rack I don't find it avant-garde at all I just find it tacky and he's
37:42like talking about himself like a grand couturier and suede would want I mean excuse me you're certainly
37:48not ready for this third-person kind of lingo I think there's a lot of self-delusion happening today
37:55yeah so we've made our decision yes let's bring them back up
38:02one of you will be named the winner and tonight two of you will be out
38:18one of you will be named the winner and tonight two of you will be out
38:30let's start with the winner congratulations
38:36Joelle you are the winner of this challenge our project runway alumni liked your design the best
38:46and we did too you can leave the runway thank you thank you thank you who'd have thunk it oh me oh my I
38:55won thank you former project runway designers I definitely think I can keep winning all the way
39:02through Bryan Park until I get my novelty size check yeah Leanne Kato Joe good work all of you can leave the runway thank you thank you
39:16Ken Lee you're in please leave the runway thank you
39:28Terry you look was poorly made and it lacked taste
39:45Blaine we asked for the avant-garde what you gave us seemed like a joke
39:53sweet you look was safe and boring
39:59Blaine
40:07you're out
40:11please leave the runway thank you
40:14of your it doesn't blame
40:16no I'm gone

40:56That means Terry you're out
41:01Thank you
41:09This was never in my sight line. I have always seen Brian Park as the end result

41:28So guys I have to send you upstairs to kind of your space okay
41:32I love you, thank you
41:34Bye guys love your faces
41:38From the time I auditioned and I met Tim
41:42He was like people need to hear from you
41:44And right now they will hear from me
41:46You can't second-guess yourself as a designer and an artist
41:50And you really just have to be a hundred percent confident in who you are
41:53And just go for it
41:56I'm about to rule the world so you better keep your eye out
41:59Keep your eye out
