00:11We're here today at the Animal Care Center

00:13which is the nursery at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park

00:16Today is a big day for us at the nursery

00:18We introduced our

00:204 day old eastern giant

00:22elan calf to the nursery crawl exhibit

00:24It's her first day out

00:27and she met Nubian ibex

00:29Barbary Sheep, Turcoman Marcor, Cittatunga, and Transcaspian Uriel Lambs.

00:46Elin was really excited when she got out in the yard.

00:51She did really well interacting with the other babies and very playful behavior.

00:59It's pretty neat because even though she's the youngest baby out here in the nursery corral,

01:06she's the largest in size.

01:08She's very curious about all the other animals going up to them and sniffing them, trying

01:14to get them to play with her.

01:16Giant Elin are beautiful antelope.

01:20They have very distinct features.

01:23Their stripes are bold and they have black and white patterns on their dark chestnut coat.

01:29Right now this little girl has little tiny horn buds, but when she's an adult, she'll have

01:33large spiral horns.

01:35Even though Giant Elin are very large antelope, they're very athletic and can jump over huge

01:40obstacles.

01:41Look at the baby!

01:46This little Giant Elin weighs 72 pounds and is about 3 feet tall at the shoulder.

01:51When she's a full grown adult, she'll be close to 2,000 pounds and 6 feet at the shoulder.

01:57Her genetics are very important to the Giant Elin population because she is only the second

02:02cat from this siren dam.

02:06I'm proud to say we are one of only four facilities that house Giant Elin in North America.
