00:01Activists from several environmental organizations protesting in the Brazilian city of Belem
00:06on the Amazon River.
00:07Ahead of the 30th edition of the annual United Nations Climate Change Summit, they're highlighting
00:12slow progress, saying the clock is ticking for the planet.
00:16They're calling on delegates to COP30, which gets underway in the city in a few days'
00:20time, to take greater action to combat climate change.
00:25What's happening in the world when we think of climate change?
00:29It seems that people are not realizing the urgency.
00:32Global leaders are taking such small steps like they're sleeping and not seeing what's
00:35happening.
00:36So we thought that's it.
00:37They're taking a nap and we need to rush, wake up.
00:40We need these people to wake up to the urgency of the climate crisis.
00:46For the past 30 years, world leaders and diplomats have gathered at United Nations negotiating
00:51sessions to try to curb climate change, yet the Earth's temperature continues to rise
00:56and extreme weather worsens.
00:58So activists are hoping for fewer promises and more action when the main summit gets underway
01:03on Monday.
01:05The protests come as dozens of world leaders, including from Africa, meet in Belem ahead of
01:09the gathering, hoping to advance progress.
01:12But missing from the lineup are the leaders of four of the world's five most polluting economies,
01:16China, the United States, India and Russia.
01:23all the leaders of the city.
01:25All of them areигр Aboriginal and more important.
01:26They want to be part of theirانos.
01:27All of them are also the same.
01:28They want to be part of the community, where they will be the same.
01:29You can stay in the same temperature.
01:29You can stay in the same position.
01:30That's not how you want to be part of your career now.
01:31You have a single master of the world's five most polluting.
