00:00What a joy it is to be here today to celebrate someone we love so dearly.

00:08Thank you to everyone who made this day possible, our friends and sponsors at Disney, Marvel, Marvel, Disney,

00:16Anna Martinez, and the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.

00:21In life, Chad was more than an actor or even an artist.

00:26First, he was a spiritual teacher, fortified by a family and close friends that kept him grounded in faith.

00:36A team that believed in him, protected him, and fought for him.

00:44Colleagues that trusted his vision, that lifted him up, and forged a real brotherhood.

00:51You have no idea how pivotal those moments were.

00:59Chad taught all of us a great deal.

01:01His heart was so vast, he could give each and every person a specific part of him

01:05and still have so much left to share with the world.

01:12Shortly after he passed, Chad came to me in a dream

01:17and said that there was only so much that he could do from here.

01:26These words were echoed by a close friend only days later, as if to say,

01:30in case you didn't hear me the first time.

01:32I still smell incense in the wind and see his repeating pattern like being the 28-28th recipient

01:45of an honor on the Walk of Fame, for example.

01:49These synchronicities that are far too frequent to be called random remind me that he's still teaching.

01:55Chad, today we recognize a lifetime of artistry.

02:04We recognize your skill and your devotion,

02:07and we cement your legacy as a hero and an icon.

02:10You lived with honor and you walked in truth.

02:14You are as brilliant as you were beautiful and as courageous as you were kind.

02:20We love you.

02:22We miss you.

02:23We thank you.

02:24And I would like to share a few words from the man himself.

02:31Chadwick Boseman's instructions for creative work.

02:36Write the vision and make it plain.

02:39Keep that word fastened in your journal and shut it in your bolted drawer until the appointed time.

02:45Let the ideas, the visions that God gives you fester inside of you.

02:50Let the word that he has put inside of you bubble over.

02:53Do not speak it to another until the time appointed by God.

02:57The secrecy of the vision is the second stone laid in the building process.

03:03It is the project's fortress.

03:06For a word spoken too early on the ears of men is a bulldozer and a stumbling block.

03:14Forget the self that entered the process and be made into a new creature through the work.

03:20Chad, it was our honor to watch you transform and our honor to be transformed by you.
