The 45th president was Letterman's guest more than 30 times between 'Late Night With David Letterman' and 'The Late Show With David Letterman.'

00:00David Letterman is making it very clear that he is not a fan of Donald Trump.

00:04The president was a frequent guest on Letterman's various talk shows including

00:08NBC's Late Night with David Letterman and CBS's The Late Show with David Letterman

00:12which he collectively hosted for 33 years. But the former late night host and now

00:16current host of Netflix's My Next Guest Needs No Introduction had some choice words

00:21for the New York mogul turned 45th president on The Hollywood Reporter's

00:24Awards Chatter podcast. First, Letterman was shocked when he learned that Trump had

00:28appeared on his show more than 30 times joking, wow you're welcome America. He added

00:33that he wasn't aware at the time what Trump was really like saying,

00:36I think he just liked being on TV. I had no sense that he was the soulless bastard that

00:40he's turned into. The host also notes that he would still like to have a conversation

00:44with the president but on a real personal level. I would just like to say, Don, it's

00:49Dave, remember me? I want to talk to the real Donald Trump because I now don't know

00:53which is the real Donald Trump and if the Donald Trump that I was talking to back then

00:57was the real Donald Trump, how do you get to be the guy he is now? He added he used to

01:02be kind of like the boob of New York that pretended to be wealthy or we thought was

01:05wealthy and now he's just a psychotic. Is that putting too fine a point on it?

01:09Letterman noted that he didn't even care that he was saying this on the record

01:12because he would just like to have a genuine conversation with Trump and as he put it,

01:16he knows me, I know him. What the hell went wrong?
