Sony and Marvel Studios' 'Spider-Man: Far From Home' set off early July Fourth fireworks at the Tuesday box office in launching to a record $39.3 million.

00:11Sony and Marvel Studios' Spider- Far From Home is flying high at the Tuesday box office,
00:16launching to a record $39.3 million.
00:19That makes a superhero flick the best showing ever for a movie opening on a Tuesday.
00:24The previous record holder was, surprise surprise,
00:26The Amazing Spider-Man which took in $35 million in July of 2012.
00:31Box office analysts are aiming high with the film and predicting a six-day debut of about $150 million.
00:37However, the studio is being more conservative and predicting somewhere around $125 million.
00:42Tom Holland returns as the iconic superhero in the new installment that picks up after the events of
00:47Endgame, which opened in late April on its way to becoming the No. 2 grossing movie of all time
00:52at the global box office.
00:53The film finds Holland's Peter Parker, a.k.a. Spider-Man, and Samuel Jackson's Nick Fury
00:57adjusting to a world, spoiler, if you haven't watched Endgame yet, that's on you,
01:01without Iron Man and other Avengers to defend it.
01:04This also means that Spider- Far From Home will conclude phase three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe,
01:09which started with the rollout of Captain America Civil War in 2016.
01:13Other Fourth of July holiday offerings include Midsommar, a horror pick directed by Ari Aster,
01:18who's known for his film Hereditary. The specialty film follows a group of Americans who travel to Sweden
01:23to take part in a solstice festival. The film's tracking to open in the single digits.
