00:00What I want people to understand is there's no problems in reality.
00:03There's just reality, and reality at times can be very difficult.
00:06What creates human suffering is the way we relate to that.
00:10Nothing is either good nor bad, only thinking makes it so.
00:13It's said with complete compassion, and it's an empowering statement,
00:16even though it can trigger a lot of reaction.
00:17It's not in any way to condone circumstances or to dismiss that people have real challenges.
00:22You know, I grew up orphaned by the age of 17, wasn't particularly wealthy, and left nothing.
00:26It's not to dismiss the hardships that people deal with,
00:30but it is to empower somebody to recognize, could you actually be okay with what's going on?
00:35As long as you think the problems are outside of you,
00:37you're actually putting yourself in a disempowering position
00:39where you become fundamentally a victim of life,
00:42which then means, logically, the brain is going to do what?
00:44Try and control life, which is where you have perfectionism and people-pleasing
00:48and manipulation and control freaks, but that's an exhausting endeavor.
00:52We really have the audacity to think that we know how life should be.
00:55We certainly know how our loved ones should act,
00:58but it's all under the guise of, that's how I'm going to feel safe.
01:00That's how I'm going to feel okay.
01:02That's how I'm going to feel loved.
01:03And my invitation for people is, can you find that sense of inner peace, freedom,
01:07self-worth and love in the absence of circumstances being to your liking?
01:11And that's a powerful start.
