07:13He was shot 11 times, with seven rounds striking him.
07:17He was rushed to the hospital, where he confessed to officers that he had tested positive for COVID-19, and had called them in hopes of provoking them into killing him.
07:26The gun he'd brandished turned out to be an inoperable Civil War-era cap and ball revolver, an antique that couldn't fire.
07:33Cardona died five days later from COVID-19 complications worsened by his gunshot wounds.

07:48On October 12, 2022, in Bristol, Connecticut, three officers responded to the home of 35-year-old Nicholas Brutcher after he called 911, claiming his brother was drunk and aggressive, and falsely insisted no one in the house had any firearms.
08:14Hours earlier, Brutcher and his brother had gotten into a bar fight and clashed with police, ending with their car being towed and their mother scolding them.
08:23Humiliated and fueled by long-standing alcohol and drug problems, made worse after his wife left him for a close friend, Brutcher armed himself, put on camouflage, and waited by the side door for the officers he had lured there, unaware they were walking into a deadly ambush.

09:02Brutcher gunned down Officer Dustin DeMonte, a father of two with a third child on the way,

09:18on the ground. The third officer, 26-year-old four-year veteran Alec Lurado, was shot in the
09:24right leg but managed to escape, seeing Brutcher continue to desecrate the bodies of his fallen
09:29colleagues. Officer Lurado stepped back in despite his injuries and fought to defend their honor.
09:35Bracing himself against a cruiser, Officer Lurado took aim at Brutcher from roughly 40 yards away
09:41and fired a single, precise shot, striking him at the base of the skull and killing him instantly
09:46as his parents watched and screamed. Officer Lurado, who delivered the decisive shot that ended
09:52Nicholas's life, survived his own gunshot wound to the leg. Next up, an unstable alcoholic called
09:58Police to his home with one goal, to kill them. On August 26, 2023, in Los Angeles, California,
10:11several LAPD officers responded to an apartment building after 51-year-old Angel Garrido,
10:17an alcoholic who had been drinking for three days straight and had downed two pints of vodka that
10:21day, called dispatch and said they should send police or he would start hurting people.
10:26Hearing what sounded like his girlfriend in the background, dispatchers refused to take any
10:30chances and sent officers to Angel's apartment, unaware he was already lying in wait, armed with
10:36a large kitchen knife.

11:19He was rushed to the hospital and survived, and from there, it was a one-way ticket to jail,
11:24where he was charged with one felony count of assault upon a peace officer.
11:28But because of his severe alcoholism and mental health struggles, he was offered two years of
11:33pre-trial mental health diversion, including residential substance abuse treatment,
11:38after which the charge could be dismissed if he successfully completes the program.
11:43Next up, a mentally unstable man lured more than a dozen armed officers to his home
11:48in an attempt to kill them all.

11:52On July 9th, 2022, in Queens, New York, more than a dozen officers responded to the home
12:03of 60-year-old Raul Antonio Hardy, a black man with mental health issues who was high.
12:08Though the cops didn't know that yet, Hardy had called 911 himself, threatening to kill
12:13the police chief, the governor, any officers sent to his home, and change the entire government,
12:18even giving dispatch his address. As multiple units rolled up, Hardy armed himself with two
12:24guns from the basement of the home he shared with his aunt and cousin, ready to ambush the cops.
12:30But officers, aware of the threat at hand, spread out and secured the perimeter.
12:34And when Hardy stepped outside to confront them, it was a bloodbath.
14:06Hardy was shot at 134 times, with 32 rounds hitting him.
14:11He somehow survived long enough to be taken to the hospital, where he died shortly afterward.
14:16The shooting was ruled a justified use of force, and none of the officers were disciplined.

14:46called 911 claiming a man dressed in black had broken into her home and that her life was in danger.
14:53In reality, Cobia was going through a bitter divorce and custody battle with her ex-husband
14:58and was known by neighbors as a crazy lady with a pistol who feared someone would take her children.
15:04Instead of seeking help, she decided to take out her frustrations on police officers,
15:09luring them to the house and setting up an ambush as they arrived to save her from the supposed intruder.

18:20On March 16th, 2021, in Los Angeles, California, LAPD officers and SWAT surrounded the home of 36-year-old Jorge Armando Cerda after his aunt and other relatives reported that Curda, a chronic meth user on a two-day binge, was armed with multiple guns and firing sporadically into the backyard.
18:46With Curda both high and heavily armed, patrol officers, SWAT unit, and negotiators were all deployed.
18:53But none of that changed one fact.
18:55They were stepping onto Cerda's turf, where he held the advantage.
