00:00it's such an honor to see you I think it's my favorite cover this year seeing that smile on

00:09your face it brings me so much joy what does it mean to you it means a lot to me to be here

00:16accepting a leadership award because I'm the person you got to push into leadership and I

00:23feel like I've been poked I've been prodded and that this season in my life I think that I actually

00:28have the tools to be able to understand what that means so I love what you said about fear and how

00:35leaders you know have to like really embrace fear what it one was the last time you were really

00:39scared of doing something and how did you overcome it when am I not scared I was scared when I adopted

00:46my child I was scared when we started juvie production company and just do it just do it in spite of it

00:57don't try to squelch the fear thinking that as soon as it's it's squelched I can actually step into it

01:05that when you understand that it's a part of the whole journey and stepping in the leadership and

01:10that that fear can actually guide you it can sit with you sometimes sometimes it's not as strong

01:14as other times I think that you begin to make peace with it and understand that um you know what the

01:21reason why you're afraid is because you understand how hard the job is and congratulations that's so

01:27nice that you're that you're standing here too because I had some I had some questions for you

01:31congratulations on the Amazon deal um you know I know a little bit about what you guys are planning

01:37but what is it like to to work with Viola and and what do you what are you most excited about about

01:42working with Amazon well I'm you know it's great working with Viola because Viola is a collaborator in

01:48terms of an actor and and and as a producer she always brings her a game and uh to help us you

01:54know get narratives figured out and make them really great and then you know with Amazon I think we have

01:58the same synergy I think we have we want to do the same thing uh we're putting great content out there

02:05uh that uh highlights people of color you know across the globe so we're excited to be in business

02:11with them it's going to be wonderful congratulations last question I love your tweet if you can't get a

02:17seat at the table bring a folding chair which was confirmation that you're you're playing Shirley

02:21Chisholm you know the the first black U.S. congresswoman and the first to seek a major party

02:25nomination for president it's sort of obvious why you'd want to do that but what what do you hope to

02:29bring to her story I hope that people um educate them as to who she is I think a lot of people don't

02:36know who she is that's number one number two that everyone could be a hero that everyone could be

02:45brave and bold if you have it in you and it's like she said she said I want to be remembered as a person

02:51who dared to be herself that's the most important message that I want people to get from Shirley

02:57Chisholm well you know I mean it's a wonderful a wonderful story an incredible woman and we're

03:06just excited to bring her to life so that this generation can understand that there was somebody

03:11who came before and who was pushing forward for her constituency for great things and so we're

03:17excited about doing this project with Amazon
