The fact he even raised his hand at her when she wouldn’t go out with him screams he isn’t used to people telling him no and violence is the only option to change that result. Even if he is in love with her which people like that don’t love they obsess over someone. Once the obsession is gone they will be disposed of however they see fit which we know violence will be on the table. She was property to him nothing else. A fun toy.
