00:00I once booked an Airbnb by myself in an area in Arizona that I had a job interview.
00:20Since it was so far from home I made a short trip out of it.
00:23I went with this one specific Airbnb because it was much cheaper than any hotels I could
00:28find.
00:29It was about half an hour away from where I would be interviewing for, which was fine
00:32with me.
00:33It was off some dead end secluded road and it had a nice view of the desert in the backyard.
00:38I brought my laptop with me to get work done at my at the time current job during the day
00:42so that kept me busy most of the days I was there.
00:44I stayed for 3 days.
00:46My interview was on the second day that I was there, which was a Tuesday.
00:50I would be leaving Friday, so on Monday the night before my interview I was practicing
00:54interview questions for this specific company and just generally getting some last minute
00:58knowledge on their firm.
01:00I was doing this on my laptop in the living room of the little house, probably around
01:039pm, when there was a tap at the window.
01:06I say tap because it wasn't exactly a knock.
01:09It sounded more like it could have been someone's finger.
01:12My head of course swung to the left to look at the window in reaction.
01:15I didn't see anyone, but it was also pitch black outside.
01:18I was kind of scared to look out the window, but I had to be man and just do it.
01:23And there was no one as far as the eye could see.
01:26Just darkness.
01:27Of course maybe it could have been a bug hitting the window.
01:29We've got some pretty nasty bugs here after all.
01:32The next day I got through my interview and thought I did pretty well.
01:36So for the rest of my little trip there, I explored different parts of the town in my
01:39car, ate at different restaurants and sat in the backyard and relaxed in the sun.
01:44Little did I know, I was likely being watched while I was in the backyard.
01:48At night I was inside watching Breaking Bad on Netflix, when it happened again.
01:53A single tap at the window.
01:55Now it was obvious it wasn't a bug.
01:57I was even more disturbed now, but once again rushed to the window.
02:01Even though I saw no one, that didn't mean someone wasn't out there.
02:05I checked the windows by the front door, then opened the door and looked outside for
02:08a second.
02:10Since there was no one there, I went back inside and then went to the back door.
02:13I stepped outside onto the back porch and looked out to the desert behind the house.
02:18Silence and darkness.
02:20And then I heard a click.
02:22A sound someone made, like clicking their tongue at the roof of their mouth.
02:27It was off in the distance, beyond the light from the house.
02:30It was out somewhere in that cold desert.
02:32I felt as though someone could be hiding behind any number of those bushes, watching me and
02:36toying with me.
02:37I yelled out, and almost as if they did it in response, there was another click.
02:43I pinpointed the direction it came from, and looked that way.
02:47I could see someone now, standing not too far away, dressed in dark clothes, blending
02:51into the darkness of the desert.
02:53I started walking a little closer, then stopped, realizing I didn't want to get any closer
02:58to that person.
03:00I called out, you're on private property, I'm gonna call the cops if you don't leave.
03:04And I saw the person eerily quickly walk away.
03:07I theorized it was the Airbnb owner, but obviously that was a stretch and I didn't really know
03:11what to actually think.
03:13The night following, I was in my bed on my laptop watching Breaking Bad again before going
03:17to bed.
03:18I think I watched two episodes, so I was doing this for about an hour and a half.
03:22I didn't hear any noises in the house, though I was definitely giving thought to that encounter
03:26from earlier while watching the show.
03:28When I finally turned off the light in the room and tried to fall asleep, within 10 seconds,
03:33there was a click sound again, muffled from the inside of the closet.
03:36I looked at the closet door, which was open just a crack.
03:40Then a pretty natural response, I sprang off the bed, still in my PJs, and ran to the car.
03:46I sat in the driveway with the car running, and I called 911.
03:49I stared at the house as I spoke to the dispatcher, waiting to see if someone would come out, because
03:53all of my stuff was still in there.
03:56A police car arrived, and upon entering the house, we did a quick investigation of the
04:00house together.
04:01It was very small with not many places to hide.
04:04Conclusively, I still packed my stuff and left that place that night for a nearby hotel.
04:08I contacted both Airbnb and the host, and I was only able to get a partial refund for
04:13my stay.
04:14I still think it may have been the host of the Airbnb.
04:16I mean, who else would have access to the house?
04:19There were no signs of forced entry, which leads me to believe whoever it was may have
04:23had a key.
04:24But maybe I'm wrong.
04:25Maybe it was a stranger who snuck in at an opportune time.
04:34My wife Cheryl and I have been together for ten years, and we got married two years ago.
04:44We just got a house together not even a month ago, and things couldn't have started on
04:48a worse note.
04:50We moved to a small inland town of Georgia called Waycross.
04:53That's all the details I'm giving though to avoid any more possible issues.
04:57We're on a quiet street with a big property that sits in front of a medium sized patch
05:01of woods, which was one of the factors that really appealed to my wife and I.
05:05We planned to adopt a dog and raise kids here, so we wanted a big property for the dog and
05:09kids to play around on.
05:12We both worked similar shifts.
05:13I get home around 5 and she gets home around 6 most of the time.
05:17The first two nights in the house went completely normal.
05:20It was the weekend, so we spent our entire days on packing.
05:24It wasn't until Monday night, when we were both in bed, only having turned the lights
05:28out maybe 20 minutes ago, that outside from the backyard, there was the sound of this blasting
05:33music.
05:34Our nearest neighbors on either side were spaced out enough where we couldn't mistake
05:38music from their yards being in our yard.
05:40It was definitely in our backyard, and it wasn't party music or anything like that.
05:45It sounded like very old, staticky, vintage music.
05:49The windows were shut.
05:50So after my wife and I exchanged horrified glances at each other and wondered where the
05:54music could be coming from, I opened my window on my side of the bed, and it was much clearer.
06:00There was some song that sounded like it was from the 1940s or something blasting.
06:05I later found out after looking up the lyrics that the song name was Who's Afraid of the
06:08Big Bad Wolf by Henry Hall.
06:10It has a slight eerie vibe to it for some reason, even though it was meant to be a happy song.
06:15But at the time of listening to it coming from our backyard, it was nothing but downright
06:19horrifying.
06:21We were still learning the house, but we figured there must be a backyard light switch downstairs.
06:26I ran downstairs to the back door and flicked the light switches next to the door, and one
06:30of them turned on the backyard lights.
06:32I didn't see anyone in the backyard.
06:35I opened the door and the music was louder obviously, but as I walked out into the grass,
06:39I realized it wasn't coming from the backyard, rather from the woods.
06:44The song played to completion as I was outside in the yard just standing there looking around.
06:49When the song ended, there was silence again.
06:51It seemed like someone must have been playing some stupid housewarming prank, but it wasn't
06:56appreciated.
06:57I went back to my wife and told her it was probably just some kids trying to scare the
07:01new ones in town for whatever reason.
07:03Hearing myself even say that, I realized how stupid and weird it sounded.
07:07Why would anyone do that?
07:09The next night, it happened again.
07:12A few minutes after we turned out the lights in the bedroom, music from outside started
07:15blasting.
07:17This time much louder, and the song playing was that song everyone's heard tiptoe through
07:21the tulips.
07:22Cheryl and I once again looked at each other, this time in genuine disgust and worry, because
07:27we had hoped it was just going to be a one-time thing, but it was happening again.
07:32I looked out the window, and this time I could see something on the grass.
07:35It wasn't a person, but there was definitely something out there.
07:39I told my wife I was going to check it out.
07:41She said we should just call the cops, and I said yeah we will in a second.
07:45I went out there with this mindset that I need to establish I'm the man of the house
07:48not just to my wife, but to whoever was thinking they could mess with us just for being the
07:52new people on the block.
07:54When I was in the yard, I saw the object in the grass was smaller than I had thought,
07:58but the blaring creepy song was coming from it.
08:01I realized it was an old radio.
08:03I turned it off and looked up at the window at my wife who was watching, and I held it
08:07up, yelling that someone left it there to scare us with the music.
08:11What she did next was not something I expected in response to that.
08:14She started screaming my name to run inside.
08:17She kept screaming run.
08:19I yelled why, and she screamed back there's people standing behind you.
08:24This statement made my heart skip a beat, and I turned around to face the woods.
08:28I saw three figures standing like six feet apart from each other, clearly facing my direction.
08:33They weren't running at me, they were just standing there.
08:37I yelled oh shit and ran back inside the house slamming the door behind me.
08:41My wife was upstairs hysterical crying already.
08:44I told her I'd call the cops, and I did.
08:47They arrived thankfully not that long after.
08:49All the while we were scared to hear knocks at one of the doors or windows.
08:53My wife and I desperately explained the situation to both of the police that arrived, and I showed
08:57them the radio on the ground.
08:59I asked them if they could take it back with them as evidence for prints, and told them
09:02I only touched the top part with the handle.
09:05They did take the radio.
09:06They also checked the front of the woods with their flashlights for a few minutes, probably
09:10just as a deterrent to the people in the woods to stop their behavior if they were still there.
09:15When the police left, honestly we went right back to feeling vulnerable and scared, but
09:20thank christ the people never returned.
09:22This was only a few weeks ago though, god forbid they came back, I'd try to get it on video.
09:37I've worked as a nurse in multiple hospitals and facilities.
09:41Before the current hospital I work at, I worked at a geriatric hospital 30 minutes from my house.
09:46I had experience working with older patients before, so this was nothing new to me.
09:51I had been working at this hospital for only a couple of weeks, and you'll soon understand
09:55why.
09:56This was on my second to last shift at this hospital, unbeknownst to me at the start of
10:00that night.
10:01I was working the graveyard shift, and I was running on negative hours of sleep.
10:06I was assigned to the Alzheimer's ward.
10:08The patients in this ward absolutely adored me.
10:11My presence as a young girl in her twenties among the residents of this ward who were otherwise
10:15left to themselves to float around in their minds, I'm sure saw me as a breath of fresh
10:18air, someone who could tie them to the now or to the everyday.
10:22If you're just left to yourself, you can mentally go to other places, but with someone else in
10:26your space, you're tied to that moment in time.
10:30I was dealing with a number of patients that night, but one was a little more restless than
10:34the others.
10:35Her name was Lena.
10:37This was my first night dealing with her, and she kept telling me any time I'd enter her
10:40room about the voices she kept hearing, and the man dressed in black she kept seeing
10:44in the corner of the room.
10:46The other lady in her room requested her curtain be closed before my shift started so that Lena
10:50would leave her alone.
10:52She was a sweet lady that smiled whenever I was around her, but she didn't say much
10:55and was very forgetful.
10:58Since I started my shift around 9pm, most of the patients were asleep by 11, but not Lena.
11:04Whenever she called me into the room, she'd be frightened of these alleged voices she
11:07was hearing, and the man in black that kept staring at her in the corner of the room.
11:11Not gonna lie, it was creeping me out a little.
11:14I believed that in her mind she was seeing and hearing these things, and I sympathized
11:18with her because I imagined them to be very scary, but still, I tried my best to calm her
11:23down and get her to go to sleep.
11:25I didn't want to turn on the TV to calm her down because I wanted to be courteous of the
11:29other patient in the room.
11:31I held Lena's hands and told her it's okay, to breathe and to relax.
11:36I reminded her that she wasn't here alone, and I was always just a call away.
11:40She seemed to do the trick.
11:42Lena relaxed for a while, and the next time I came in the room, she was asleep.
11:47Once most, if not all of the patients are asleep, the night goes much slower.
11:51Time almost moves in reverse.
11:54An hour or two later, I was in the linen room stocking my cart, when I heard something in
11:58the room.
11:59It was a relatively small, dead quiet room.
12:02I had the door closed too.
12:05That's why hearing another noise was weird.
12:07I turned, saw nothing, and resumed stocking my cart.
12:11Then I felt what I can only describe to be a hand on my shoulder.
12:15I looked at my shoulder, jumped, and screamed, but there was nothing on my shoulder.
12:19There was no one in the room.
12:21Yet, I knew I felt something large basically grab my shoulder.
12:25I went out in the hall for a second to peek my head.
12:28No other nurses in sight.
12:30Dead quiet.
12:32I had nothing else to do but resume what I was doing.
12:35I continued stocking the cart until it was full.
12:37Then I turned to face the door, and I fell to the floor and started screaming as my heart
12:42was immediately in my throat.
12:44There was a man dressed in black standing outside the door, looking through the glass,
12:48smiling.
12:49My screams were loud enough to wake the entire ward.
12:52The man disappeared out of sight through the glass window of the door.
12:56Seconds later, the door opened and one of my fellow nurses came in to help me off the
12:59floor as I was hysterical.
13:02I asked her if she saw the man dressed in black.
13:04Her response was, what man?
13:06There's no one else here.
13:07We checked all the rooms in the ward.
13:09There wasn't anybody dressed in black in there.
13:12My screams woke Lena from whatever light sleep she must have been in, and when I came into
13:16her room, she started talking of the voices, this time the screams, which she didn't know
13:22were my screams.
13:23I asked her what this man in black looked like, if he was smiling.
13:28And she looked at me, and I noticed her eyebrows point down, as her expression changed to look
13:32the most focused I'd seen her the entire day.
13:35She asked, how did you know?
13:37And even with my heart still racing, I felt it skip a beat as she said this.
13:42She started screaming now, screaming, get me out of here, he's coming.
13:46The other nurses came in and tried to calm her down.
13:48I was switched to a different ward that night with someone else, and I eventually ended up
13:52going home early because I was just so freaked out.
13:55I texted the head nurse the next day that my next shift would be my last, that the experience
14:00traumatized me and that I didn't really want to be in that building anymore.
14:04I got as friendly of a response as I could have hoped for.
14:07I've never been diagnosed with anything, nor have I ever dealt with hallucinations of any
14:12kind.
14:13I'm aware of the effects of lack of sleep, but this was next level.
14:17I don't know if my mind started playing tricks on me from what Lina was telling me all night,
14:22but the feeling of the hand on my shoulder, the image of the smiling man behind the glass
14:26door, matching the description a patient kept giving multiple times.
14:31This was one of those once in a lifetime unexplainable supernatural occurrences, at least I hope it was
14:36once in a lifetime.
14:37I was driving home from work one night, taking my usual route home.
14:50I got out at midnight, so it was probably 12.15ish at this point.
14:56My town is pretty quiet and boring, a lot of woods everywhere, and not a lot of people
15:00or houses.
15:02I was on this road not far from my house with a cornfield on one side and a patch of woods
15:06on the other.
15:07It was mid-summer and like 75 degrees, so I had my convertible top down.
15:13I was cruising down the street going like 50 when I heard a loud, blood-curdling woman
15:17scream come from one side of the road, but I couldn't tell which one.
15:23I brought the car to a quick halt by slamming on the brakes and listening.
15:27There was a woman's cry from the left side, in the woods.
15:31She was crying for help.
15:33I got out of my car and grabbed the baton from my back seat.
15:36I walked towards the woods and called back, who was out there?
15:39And the woman immediately called back, please help me.
15:42I began to run into the woods, swiping all the twigs and bushes out of my way.
15:47I yelled out to the woman to keep screaming so I could find her.
15:50She'd every 10 seconds or so scream help, and I'd approach in that direction, running,
15:55screaming back.
15:56But pretty soon, I started to realize no matter how far into the woods I went, the woman's
16:01yells didn't seem to get any closer or louder.
16:04If anything, they were always the same distance, even though I was booking it straight in the
16:08direction of the screams.
16:10I screamed out, tell me where you are, and about 5 seconds later, the woman once again
16:14screamed out, help.
16:16I stopped in my tracks now.
16:17I didn't like this.
16:19I started to feel like I was walking into some kind of trap.
16:22I turned around and started running back in the direction I came.
16:26I ran and ran until I could see the flashing headlights of my car on the side of the road beyond the
16:30breeze.
16:31The whole way back, I still heard the woman's screams, but they were still the same distance
16:36no matter how much closer to my car I got, as if she were following me back.
16:40Was I being stalked?
16:42I got in my car and just drove out of there, completely freaked out.
16:46I called 911 to report it to the authorities in case they'd want to investigate it.
16:50I wasn't sticking around there though, I was tired.
16:54After telling a few friends and family about the strange encounter, I was ready to move on
16:57with my life.
16:58But a week later, I saw something on the news that made me sick to my stomach.
17:03The dead body of a 30 something year old woman was found in the woods by a man hiking with
17:07his dog.
17:08Oddly, there were no signs of foul play.
17:10The location that the body was reported to have been found was the same general area where
17:15I heard the screams.
17:16While that patch of woods is very big, I can't help but feel that would be a huge coincidence.
17:32Back before my girlfriend Jenny and I officially started dating, we would still hang out all
17:36the time.
17:37We both snowboard, and her family has a little cabin type house in Vermont not far from Stowe
17:41Mountain Resort.
17:43This was around our maybe 10th time hanging out.
17:46She invited me to go up there for a weekend with her to go snowboarding for the first time
17:49together.
17:50It was like a 5 hour drive.
17:53As we neared her little house, we spent about half an hour on this very windy, secluded road
17:57on which we'd pass occasional driveways that would lead up into properties blocked off
18:01by walls of trees.
18:03We were way up there in the mountains.
18:05The sight of other cars by this point was something to behold.
18:08It really felt like we were alone up there.
18:10A lot of the driveways didn't even have tire marks in the snow, meaning even a lot of the
18:14houses were void of people.
18:16Jenny told me that's because a lot of the houses here were owned by people out of state just
18:20like her situation.
18:22I was going like 30 when she yelled at me to slow down it's coming up, so I hit the brakes,
18:27and this little opening in the trees that I otherwise would have missed came up.
18:31We drove this narrow trail in 4 wheel drive which led to this small house covered in snow.
18:36It looked incredibly cozy.
18:38We parked and first thing we did was turn the heat on in the little house.
18:43We unloaded our stuff inside, and since it was already getting dark that night, we just
18:47cooked some of the food we packed for dinner and watched a movie.
18:50Pursuit of happiness actually.
18:52So the house had just about everything, heat, electricity, except running water.
18:56Her family had jugs and jugs of water for important things like washing hands and plates and stuff,
19:02but there was no working toilet, so she told me we had to use the outhouse outside.
19:07I only had to go pee that night, so I just went out to the front deck and peed into the
19:10snow.
19:11It was also snowing out that night.
19:14We fell asleep at some point during the second movie we watched, and we woke up pretty early
19:18to our phone alarms.
19:19We wanted the freshies on the mountain.
19:22We started getting ready to drive up to the ski resort.
19:25After breakfast, I had to go out to the outhouse though.
19:28I ran out to the outhouse in my shoes, and my feet started to freeze.
19:32On my way to the outhouse though, I saw footprints in the snow.
19:35They were kind of big, but I couldn't tell if they were boot marks or animal prints.
19:40I followed the trail, and it actually wrapped around the house and then went into the woods.
19:45I called Jenny outside, and she came to look and said it was probably a black bear
19:49since they're everywhere up here.
19:51So I went, did my business, and we set off to the ski resort, where we had a good 8 hour
19:55run.
19:56Afterwards we stopped at a diner to eat, and then went back to the house.
20:00By this point it was pitch black outside and snowing again.
20:04We set up a fire and got the heat on full blast and started blasting some music.
20:08We started to drink, and eventually I had to break the seal and pee.
20:12But also, if I was throwing my boots on anyway, I figured I'd do all my business in the outhouse.
20:17I ran out into the snowstorm and into the outhouse once more.
20:21This time I slammed the door shut to prevent snow and cold air blowing in my face.
20:25I heard the blasting music from inside the house still, but then over that, I heard the
20:30crunching sound of footsteps in the snow, passing the outhouse.
20:33Jenny?
20:34I yelled.
20:35No answer.
20:36The footsteps just walked away.
20:39I brought my phone with me, so I just texted her, are you outside?
20:43It didn't immediately deliver though, because my cell reception sucked up there.
20:47A few minutes passed and I was still in the outhouse.
20:50I was just about to finish when the blasting music suddenly stopped, and it was just pure
20:54silence minus the sound of snowflakes hitting the ground outside.
20:58As soon as I stepped out of the outhouse, I realized it was pitch black out here now.
21:03The lights from the house were off.
21:04I figured maybe the power went out.
21:07I used my phone's flashlight and noticed a fresh pair of footsteps in the snow leading
21:11to the house.
21:12I followed the footsteps to the front door, where they seemed to stop, then continue around
21:17the house.
21:18I banged on the door and yelled Jenny's name.
21:21Suddenly the door opened and an arm pulled me inside the house.
21:23It was Jenny.
21:25She slammed the door shut and locked it.
21:27She whispered that there was a man who tried to open the door, which she locked as soon
21:31as I went to the outhouse because she was scared being alone.
21:34When she saw the person at the door wasn't me, she cut the power and hid in a corner
21:38in the living room and watched in horror as a stranger walked past the living room window
21:42slowly, looking inside.
21:45I came to the door only a couple minutes after this happened.
21:48Jenny told me about the secret cellar on the floor that her dad kept a couple rifles and
21:51shotgun in.
21:53Navigating in the dark, I found the handle to it and lifted it open.
21:57Now using my flashlight, I climbed down the little ladder and grabbed one of the guns off
22:00the wall.
22:01We then waited on the couch in the dark, afraid to turn the lights back on, exposing ourselves
22:06to whoever was out there.
22:07The closest neighbors were not a short walk.
22:10Jenny said it wouldn't have been any of them, and odds are they weren't even in
22:13Vermont right now.
22:15Once again the only sound was the sound of snowflakes hitting the ground outside, until the sickening
22:20sound of footsteps in the snow outside returned.
22:23I took the loaded gun and marched to the front door, opened it and shot like three rounds into
22:27the air screaming.
22:31The footstep sounds were gone, I'd imagine they ran off and the sound of the shots echoing
22:35into the air masked the sound of the footsteps running away.
22:38We left the next morning under the recommendation of her father, who said it's best to not be
22:42there at the moment.
22:43They don't really have anything they're worried about being stolen, so we just got the hell
22:47out of there the next day.
22:48At least we got our full day of snowboarding in.
22:51That horrific night was definitely an experience to say the least.
22:55My name is Howard, I'm 25 years old, and I live on my family's farm.
23:09I help take care of it when my parents are out of town.
23:12It's just a little family farm, not a commercial farm or anything like that.
23:16My parents want me to take it over when they're too old to take care of it anymore, as I'm
23:20the oldest of three and the only son.
23:22But honestly, I don't really want to.
23:24I don't see myself staying in the middle of Arkansas my whole life, and especially
23:28not after something really weird that happened only last July.
23:34My parents were on a romantic trip for a week, and so it was my two sisters Crystal and Morgan
23:39and I taking care of the property while they were gone.
23:42There's not much around here, lots of privacy and such, a little too much in my opinion.
23:47Except for this one night.
23:49It started later on in the night, as it was approaching time to go to bed.
23:53My sisters do college online.
23:55Crystal takes summer courses, and so she was in her room on her laptop doing work.
24:00Morgan and I were just hanging out watching some dumb show in the living room.
24:04All three of us kind of want to get out of the farm lifestyle.
24:07Me especially, since I'm oldest and in the prime of my twenties.
24:11One dreaded part of farm life is the predators though.
24:15Not just the animals that come and eat your produce, but the people that come and steal
24:18from you.
24:20Believe it or not, it happens.
24:21It hasn't happened many times to us, but it does happen.
24:25We have a few guns in the house for this exact reason.
24:28Our two dogs outside suddenly started going crazy in the backyard.
24:33Something spooked them for sure.
24:35I first thing went outside to the yard to see what they were barking at.
24:39They both were looking in the direction of the crops going crazy.
24:42I yelled at them to shut up and they went quiet.
24:45I stepped right in front of the crops and listened.
24:48I heard a whistling from inside of the cornfield.
24:51It was undoubtedly a human's whistling.
24:55This was the first time I was experiencing a trespasser on the property with my dad not
24:59here.
25:00I had to hurry inside to get one of the guns.
25:03The dogs started barking again.
25:05I told my sisters that someone's outside in the cornfield and I had to go chase them
25:08away.
25:09They both said that was a terrible idea to go run into the cornfield in the dark.
25:13And they knocked some sense into me when I realized they were right.
25:16I also realized how downright terrifying that would be.
25:20So instead, I went out back to the dogs once more going crazy barking in the direction
25:24of the crops.
25:25I aimed the gun into the air and fired off a shot which echoed into the night, silencing
25:29the dogs.
25:31I also was on some kind of power trip in the moment and screamed out to get off our land
25:35as loud as I could.
25:36I felt that would have done the trick and went back inside.
25:39My sisters were both laughing which caused me to laugh too.
25:43But our little laugh amongst each other didn't last long.
25:46Because the dogs started going crazy again, even crazier this time.
25:50I went back outside ready to do the same thing again.
25:53But I felt my heart skip a beat when I saw the guy standing about 20 feet from the dogs,
25:58right in front of the cornfield.
26:00He looked at me and I screamed hey, at which point he ran into the cornfield.
26:04I started running over and fired another shot into the air.
26:08I stopped by the dogs.
26:09There was no chance in hell I was going there.
26:12I wasn't about to leave the dogs out here either.
26:14I unclamped their chains from the hooks and brought them inside the house.
26:18I told my sister someone was sneaking around in the cornfield.
26:21So what did we do?
26:22We called our dad.
26:24He told me I had to be the man of the house and protect my sisters.
26:27He recommended I fire another warning shot outside if whoever it was came back.
26:32After this, we all just gradually went to our respective rooms.
26:36My sisters each brought one of the dogs in their rooms and I brought the gun in my room,
26:40just because we were all a little spooked by this.
26:43I had the window open and as I was laying in bed watching a movie on my laptop, I heard
26:48a whistling from outside.
26:49I hurried to the window and looked out to see someone slowly walking in the grass.
26:54Then, like he had some sixth sense, he stopped walking and turned to look at my window, still
27:00whistling.
27:02This jerk was obviously trying to mess with us and scare us, a very stupid idea when I already
27:07made it clear I had a gun.
27:08I ran to grab the gun off the bed and aimed it out the window.
27:12I shot at the grass a few feet away from him, purposely missing of course.
27:16This cut his little horror movie act short and he ran out of view of my window towards
27:20the front of the house.
27:23This time he didn't come back, he'd have to be a fool to come back after that.
27:27I obviously told my sisters why I shot and I assured them he would not be coming back.
27:32We never found out who it was or why.
27:35It could have been some teen or multiple teens just trying to scare some innocent farmers
27:39for fun, or it could have been an actually dangerous person.
27:52I used to work as a night restock worker at a supermarket in a somewhat rural town.
27:56The store was called Great American.
27:59It was the biggest and best supermarket in the area.
28:02My shift would be as soon as the store would close at 10.
28:05I'd work from 10pm to 3am the latest, restocking the shelves and organizing everything before
28:10the next operating day.
28:12I of course had the keys to the store for the after hours.
28:15It would be a team of two, myself and one other, either Terry, Carter or Alfonso.
28:21Tonight I was supposed to be working with Terry.
28:24I arrived to the store and let myself into the back where all the inventory yet to be stocked
28:28was.
28:29I started my work using the pallet jack to bring a whole pallet of boxes out to the shopping
28:33floor.
28:34I started with the bread and nuts aisle, rotating the older loafs in the front and putting the
28:39newer loafs in the back.
28:41Halfway through I realized I hadn't seen Terry yet.
28:43I walked to the back area of the store where the inventory was, where we'd leave our belongings.
28:49He wasn't back there yet.
28:51I left the back door cracked open with a door stopper for him when he would show up.
28:55So I went back to work for another half hour, and with still no sign of Terry, I once again
29:00went to the back of the store.
29:02He wasn't in there, but I noticed the back door was shut.
29:05I assumed that meant Terry was here somewhere.
29:08I went to open the back door, and saw the door stopper was outside, which I thought was
29:12weird that he kicked it outside instead of bringing it in.
29:16I called Terry's name and it echoed through the room.
29:18He didn't call back, so I decided to call him.
29:21He picked up, sounding like he was in bed, and I asked him if he was at work.
29:26He said he wasn't coming in tonight because he was sick.
29:29Suddenly I got the chills.
29:31I told him someone kicked the door stopper off the door, and he said it could have just
29:34come undone itself.
29:36Nobody else was scheduled to work that night.
29:39I told him feel better, and we hung up.
29:41I wasn't sure if I was convinced that the door stopper came undone itself, because I kicked
29:45it under the door pretty tightly.
29:46I did a quick look around just to make sure no one was in the back of the store, and when
29:51I didn't see anyone, I went back to work, though I felt a slight sense of unease the
29:56whole time.
29:57I was stocking the remainder of the bread when I heard a loud sound echo from across the
30:01shopping floor.
30:02Okay, now someone had to be in here.
30:07I got off my knees and went to the middle aisle that intersected all the other aisles.
30:11I looked straight down the aisle and stood there for a hot second, and all the way on
30:15the opposite side of the store in the dairy aisle, a man dressed in black walked past the
30:20middle aisle, looking down in my direction.
30:23I felt my heart drop.
30:25It felt like that scene from the movie Signs where the alien walks past the birthday party.
30:29I had to think logically, that maybe this was someone else filling in for Terry's shift
30:34that our boss didn't tell me about.
30:36I started to speed walk down the center aisle and yelled excuse me very loudly.
30:40I looked to the left down every aisle I passed since he went towards the front of the store.
30:45In one of those aisles, he was waiting at the end of it, standing there, fully facing
30:49my direction.
30:50When he saw me, he walked out of sight in the direction I was just coming from.
30:55I yelled excuse me again and started to run down that aisle to catch up to him.
30:59I didn't get a good look at his face yet.
31:02When I got to the front of the aisle by the cash registers, I looked down the direction
31:06he went, and I saw him all the way at the end by the bread aisle.
31:10Half his body was hidden behind the shelf.
31:13His mouth was hanging open, and he started to wave me over, but he didn't say anything.
31:18His face was freaking me out.
31:20I attempted one more time to speak to him and said, who are you, and he disappeared behind
31:24the shelf.
31:25I wasn't being paid enough for this.
31:27I went outside to sit in my car and call my boss.
31:30He picked up and I told him there was some random freak roaming around the store.
31:35He told me to get him out of there if I can, or call the police to get him out.
31:39I was not going to attempt to physically remove a crazy person from the store, so I called
31:43911.
31:44I waited in my car until a police car showed up.
31:47I greeted the officer and asked him to follow me inside.
31:51We walked around the place looking for the man.
31:53And we saw him at one of the aisles again, creepily standing there again as if playing a game.
31:58When the police officer commanded him to come here, he actually listened.
32:02He was put in handcuffs, and he was the strangest man I'd ever seen.
32:06He kept smiling and looking at me non-stop licking his lips.
32:10He had huge bags under his eyes.
32:13The only words he spoke were when answering the police officer saying he was looking for
32:17a snack.
32:18I didn't like the way he was looking at me as the police officer was walking him back
32:22outside to his car.
32:23It was this menacing, threatening smile that I haven't forgotten to this day.
32:29I continued my work after that.
32:31Needless to say, I never left any of the doors open again.
32:45A long time ago, I'm talking like eight years ago, two friends and I, James and Sean, did
32:50something really stupid.
32:52But at the time, doing stupid things was what we did to pass the time.
32:57We're not really friends with James anymore, but Sean and I still talk often.
33:00And so often times, we'll talk with each other about this story.
33:04We were 19 years old.
33:06We lived in bumfucked New Jersey, lots of vacant houses in our old town.
33:10And atop a hilly road not far from our houses was an abandoned church.
33:15Locals knew about the church, it was on a closed off road, and it had been abandoned for many
33:19years.
33:20I'm not sure if it's still standing or what the current state of it is, as I live in
33:24Florida now.
33:25But James, Sean and I being the troublemaking thrill seekers we were, came up with this genius
33:30plan of bringing a Ouija board to the church late one night.
33:33This was October, so I guess we were doing it in honor of spooky season.
33:37Sean had the Ouija board in his closet, so he brought it.
33:41I drove the three of us, so I first picked up James, then Sean, and we just drove straight
33:45towards the church.
33:46Since the road up the hill to the church was literally blocked off, we had to park on the
33:50side of the road and walk from there.
33:52We followed the road up the hill to the church, using one flashlight at first, so as not to
33:57overdo it and draw any possible attention.
33:59But once we were atop the hill, we pretty much all three of us turned on our flashlights.
34:04The church was surrounded by woods in basically all directions, and had a gravel parking lot
34:09alongside it.
34:10The church had been broken into a million times before, and was littered with graffiti.
34:15So the big front door was already ajar.
34:17Two of us had to work together to pull it open because it scraped on the floor though.
34:21Once inside, we naturally just looked around the place with our flashlights to make sure
34:25no one else was in there.
34:27It was definitely creepy being in that place at night.
34:30Sean set up the Ouija board.
34:32Then he pulled out these three candles from his backpack as well, and he laughed and said
34:36it would add to the experience.
34:38He placed the three candles in a triangle formation around the board, and as they were all lit,
34:43we turned off our flashlights.
34:45Now the only light in the whole place was from the candles, creating a much more eerie and
34:50uncomfortable vibe.
34:51We really couldn't see more than maybe six feet in all directions.
34:55So we began playing with the Ouija board.
34:58Sean was doing most of the talking.
35:00At this point I can't remember exactly what he said, but he definitely opened with is
35:04anybody there and the typical cliche Ouija board questions.
35:08The planchette started to move, and we started to laugh.
35:11I knew it was one of them doing it.
35:13I feel like it's not possible to play with a Ouija board with your friends without someone
35:16jokingly moving around the planchette.
35:19We went along with it though, and whoever was moving it spelled out a few words.
35:23As this was going on though, we heard a weird crack type sound come from the altar of the
35:27church.
35:28Best way I could describe it is it sounded like a big piece of wood cracking in half.
35:33It was loud, and it sounded like it was done by someone.
35:35We all jumped in reaction and hurried to shine our phones flashlights in the direction of
35:39the altar.
35:40There was no one there as far as we could see.
35:43I think both of them were just as freaked out as I was after that.
35:46But the place was old and falling apart, so some weird noises here and there didn't
35:50seem that crazy, and so we kept going.
35:53We all took turns asking the board questions, but the planchette was no longer moving.
35:58I think because that crack sound freaked all three of us out and now we were taking it more
36:01seriously.
36:03This went on for some time, until another sound from the altar area broke the silence again.
36:08But before we even had time to shine our lights over there again, something landed on the Ouija
36:12board causing all of us to jump and scream.
36:16It was a rock about the size of a golf ball.
36:19All three of us just had our hands on the planchette two seconds ago, and there was no way any of
36:23us could have done that.
36:25We all three got up and ran back out of the church screaming, leaving the Ouija board and
36:29candles behind.
36:30We ran all the way down the hill and back to my car, and fearing we were being chased, we
36:35didn't stick around.
36:36It drove us all back to James' house, where we just sat in the car for a good half hour
36:40talking, wondering what exactly just happened.
36:44Sean is very religious and superstitious as well.
36:47He was confident we had reached a spirit of some kind.
36:50I don't really believe in any of that stuff.
36:52I believe there was someone else in the church with us, which I find to be equally terrifying.
36:57Sean went back to the church the next day with James to get his Ouija board back, and
37:01to make things even stranger.
37:03The Ouija board was missing, but the candles were still in place.
37:07When they saw it was missing from the entrance, they decided to just leave right away.
37:11This remains to be the single scariest experience of my life.
37:23Years ago, I did the night shift at a gas station because I was strapped for cash and needed
37:27a second job.
37:28I worked the night shift there for a few months.
37:31It was around my second or third month that this guy started regularly coming in really
37:35late at night, always around 2am.
37:38He was about 6 feet tall.
37:40He had long, stringy hair.
37:42He'd always come in, buy a tallboy, and leave.
37:46But after a while, he one night asked me my name.
37:49I told him my name, and he just kept saying, Rob, I like that, as he'd laugh to himself.
37:55He cracked open the tallboy he'd just bought, and walked out of the store talking to himself.
38:00He was clearly hammered.
38:02This was the night I was curious to see if he had been drinking and driving every single
38:05time that he'd come to the store.
38:07I watched as he left, and he walked out of sight off the gas station property.
38:13That would make sense.
38:14He never once bought gas any time he came in.
38:16He'd always just buy alcohol.
38:18I'd seen him just about every night after that for a while.
38:22He'd come in, some nights noticeably drunker than others, and sometimes he'd just lean
38:27on one of the shelves for a while and not say anything.
38:30He'd always greet me with a hay rob any time he'd come in.
38:33One night he was just leaning on a shelf, drinking the tallboy he'd just bought, not
38:37saying anything, just staring at a wall.
38:40I asked him for his name finally.
38:43He looked at me, took about five seconds, and said, Bob.
38:47Now I always felt like Bob is a go-to fake name when you're lying about your name.
38:51I wondered if the first thing that came to mind for him was Bob because it rhymes with
38:55my name.
38:56But I went with it.
38:57I said, so Bob, where do you work?
39:00He laughed so loud it actually startled me.
39:03He said he doesn't work.
39:05He said the government completely fucked him out of his job.
39:08I got the vibe he was wasted again.
39:10He looked at me with an angry looking face, but interestingly said, I like you, Rob.
39:15You seem like you know what you're doing.
39:17I didn't know what that meant, but he walked out of the store right after that.
39:22I didn't see him again for a while.
39:24I'd say over a week passed, which for a regular like him was a while.
39:29Bob always gave me this off, mildly creepy vibe.
39:33I figured he was usually drunk, but something was obviously wrong in his personal life.
39:38Well, one very stormy night, with less customers than usual, likely because of the storm.
39:44I heard the ding of the front door as someone entered, and I swear before looking I imagined
39:49it to be Bob.
39:50When I looked, I was shocked to see it was actually him, but it was a much scarier version
39:55of Bob.
39:56He was completely soaked.
39:58He wasn't wearing a rain jacket or using an umbrella.
40:01He was just in a dark shirt and jeans.
40:04His long hair was drenched, and he was just standing by the door, looking straight ahead
40:08at the wall.
40:09He looked like he was angry, and yet his mind was elsewhere, like his thoughts were running.
40:15The way he was standing there, blankly, staring at nothing, completely soaked, it was freaking
40:20me out.
40:21I said, Bob, are you okay?
40:23He didn't turn his head or move.
40:25He stood still and said, I did something really bad.
40:30I asked, what did you do?
40:32He then looked at me, said, I need somewhere to hide, then walked past me at the register
40:37towards the little restroom hallway.
40:39He disappeared behind the wall, and I heard one of the doors open and close.
40:43I was genuinely getting uncomfortable with Bob now.
40:47I didn't enjoy his presence whenever he was in the store, and tonight, something was extra
40:51off about him.
40:53He seemed like a zombie, and that I did something really bad comment was incredibly creepy.
40:59Some time passed, and Bob never came out from the bathroom.
41:02I assumed he was wasted again, probably passed out or puking.
41:06Either way, I didn't want to intervene, and then, the next thing I remember, the lights
41:12to the place cut out, and the store was completely dark.
41:15I was standing in a pitch dark gas station during a major storm with an unhinged drunk
41:20man.
41:21I used the flashlight from behind the counter to make my way towards the back of the store
41:25by the inventory storage and the panel board.
41:28The door to the back was in the same little hallway as the restrooms.
41:32As I walked by the two restroom doors, both of them were ajar, and Bob wasn't in either
41:37of them.
41:38I went through the door to the back.
41:41I was planning on going straight to the panel board, but I stopped when I heard a slight
41:46dripping in the room somewhere, and the squeaking of wet shoes.
41:50My heart sank into my stomach.
41:52I said Bob in a very weak and scared voice.
41:56I heard squeaks right to my left.
41:59When I pointed my flashlight in that corner, there was Bob, with his eyes open wide, and
42:04he lunged at me and started screaming, I'm going to fucking kill you.
42:08I pushed him off of me as he was clawing at my back.
42:11I ran back through the door to the front of the store.
42:14He didn't follow me.
42:15I grabbed my rain jacket and ran straight to my car.
42:18I sat in my car as I dialed 911 and spoke to an operator.
42:22I stayed on the line with her, and it didn't take long for a couple of police officers to
42:27arrive and go inside with me.
42:29Bob was still hiding in the back room, huddled in a corner, apparently like some rabid creature.
42:34His pupils were huge, I only noticed it then, he was on something.
42:39They took him to the station after I told them that he lunged at me, threatened to kill
42:43me, and stated that he did something really bad earlier.
42:47I found out over a month later that this Bob guy's real name was Martin, and he had brutally
42:52beaten his ex-wife to death.
42:54It might have happened on that same night that he came into the gas station.
42:58Long story short, I never wanted to work another night shift at any job ever again after
43:03this night.
43:14When I was 19 years old, I was still working at a nearby pizza place to help pay for food
43:19and gas and stuff.
43:20The job was always pretty easy, just taking the order, boxing up the food when it's done,
43:26putting it in a bag, and driving it to the given address.
43:29I'd done it a million times before, and nothing weird ever happened.
43:33It was very repetitive.
43:36Tips would usually be around $3-$5 depending on the distance.
43:40Sometimes more generous people would give $10 or more though.
43:43I remember this order was just a chicken parm hero and a regular slice.
43:48Smaller orders like this usually yielded lesser tips, but I didn't have a choice in which deliveries
43:53I did.
43:54I was on my way to the address, and of course, the house was apparently on a dead-end block.
43:59This block had a more rural feel to it than the rest of the neighborhood.
44:02One of the houses had an RV sitting on the grass with a small patch of woods next to it.
44:07The other houses looked like little farmhouses.
44:09There was a lot more space on this particular street.
44:13And then I pulled up to the address.
44:15It was this small, weird-looking house with a huge property though.
44:19It sat next to what appeared to be an abandoned house with overgrown grass and shrubs.
44:24It was probably around 6pm and it was getting pretty dark out, so it was around the time
44:28people would start putting on their lights inside their houses.
44:31But all the lights in the house were off, and I noticed the front door seemed cracked
44:35open.
44:36I began to walk over to the front door, and I heard a piano being played.
44:41It sounded like it was a couple rooms away at least, muffled by some walls or a door or
44:45something.
44:46I knocked on the door and then rang the bell after a few minutes, only the doorbell didn't
44:51work.
44:52The piano was still playing.
44:53I felt weird just walking in, so I walked around the property towards the back.
44:58The backyard was a literal mess.
45:00Things scattered all over the grass.
45:02I even saw a broken, rusty chain-link fence just sitting in the middle of the yard.
45:07I went to the back door and knocked really loud.
45:10I looked through the glass of the door and saw nothing except for what looked like a really
45:15messy storm room.
45:17Clearly these people were not neat freaks to say the least.
45:20When nobody answered the back door either, I went back around front and called one of
45:24the guys at the pizzeria to confirm the address with him.
45:27He took a second to check what he wrote down, and he confirmed that I was at the correct address.
45:31So, I went back to the front door, pushed it open, and heard the creepy-sounding piano music
45:37still playing.
45:38I yelled, pizzas here.
45:39The piano stopped.
45:40Someone yelled, over here.
45:42Then the piano resumed.
45:44They were playing this simple yet creepy repetitive song as if on loop.
45:49There were also no lights on in this house, so it was almost hard to see in there.
45:53I walked straight, getting closer to the sound of the music.
45:58The smell inside the house was very musty and off-putting.
46:01When I got halfway into, I guess what you'd call the foyer, I felt very uncomfortable.
46:06I wasn't going to go any further.
46:08I yelled, I'm by the front door, sir.
46:10The music stopped, this time for good, and now there was just silence.
46:15I backed towards the door again so that I would be closer to the outside.
46:20I was expecting to hear footsteps coming towards me, but no, it was just dead silent.
46:25I said, sir?
46:26And a voice from another room said, yes, sorry, I have trouble walking.
46:30Could you just bring it in here, please?
46:32I asked, what room are you in, sir?
46:34And he took a moment to answer back, if you just walk through the living room, I'm in the
46:38dining room.
46:39There were no directions on the phone to do any of this, so this was very strange.
46:44I thought for a second about my next course of action.
46:47I felt bad, leaving in the case that this was some old, feeble man just living in a
46:51messy house.
46:53I started walking through the living room, and there was an opening that led to what I
46:56presumed to be the dining room.
46:58Me being my overly cautious and paranoid self was still suspicious.
47:03Instead of walking straight into the dining room, I peeked around the wall just enough
47:07for one eye to see into the room.
47:09I saw the piano, but there was no one sitting at it.
47:13I also didn't see anyone in the entire room.
47:16With that, I quietly but quickly walked back towards the front door, shut the door behind
47:21me, and drove back to the pizzeria.
47:23I explained that I got a sketchy vibe inside the house.
47:26My boss was completely understanding, especially when the alleged customer didn't call back
47:31asking why I left.
47:33That said everything.
47:34I didn't really understand the logic in trying to commit a robbery in your own house, nor did
47:39my boss or co-workers.
47:41So later that night after work, I looked up that address, and that house was foreclosed
47:46on months ago, and it had been vacant.
47:49When I told this to everyone, they had the same mouth dropping reaction I did.
47:54I was truly mere steps away from probably getting robbed.
47:58or someone was trying to play a horrible prank on an unsuspecting pizza delivery guy.
48:02I was like, oh my god.
48:12And I was like, oh my god!
48:18Yeah, I'm great!
48:20I'll see you next time.
48:21Oh yeah.
48:23I'm so hungry.
48:24I'm so hungry.
48:25I'm so hungry.
48:26I'm so hungry.
48:27I'm so hungry.
48:29I'm so hungry.
