00:00.
00:23Chris, where are my brothers at?
00:26Where are the ladies at, Chris?
00:28Where are the knockout brothers?
00:29They're going to be making their way down to ringside right now.
00:31Your IWGP Tag Team Champions.
00:34Oh, I for one have been absolutely amazed
00:39out of what we've seen from Oscar and Utah Ice
00:42in this year's World Tag League.
00:44Their first ever World Tag League run
00:46and all the way to the semi-final have gone Oscar and Ice.
00:50Yeah, but I would say at the same time
00:52that Oscar and Ice are very, very, very disappointed,
00:55angry, frustrated, disillusioned with that process.
00:58They entered into World Tag League undefeated.
01:00They left decidedly not so
01:02and ultimately even on the entire process.
01:054 wins, 4 losses.
01:08The last loss being in the semi-final
01:11that means that the Tag Team Champions are not in the finals here tonight.
01:15So Utah Ice and Oscar feeling a great deal of resentment and frustration
01:19and I think trying to put themselves back on the path to redemption
01:23against two men they feel very much redeemed against.
01:25In Hiroshi Tanahashi, Shotsuhumno, and Yu Yuurimura.
01:29These are two men in Oscar and Ice who, when you talk about year-on-year growth,
01:38incremental, periodical advancement, it's just not going to be good enough.
01:43Not in David Finley's War Dogs.
01:45The Knockout Brothers are here to bring bodies
01:48because they've already brought the gold.
01:50Here was Ice's win over Tanahashi in the third Tag League match of the tournament.
02:10And Ice and Oscar's win over Umino and Yuurimura
02:16that really reminded everybody how great the Knockout Brothers are and continue to be.
02:25They require a statement of force in a major way
02:28and I think we're going to see that here tonight.
02:31Yutou Ice
02:40The name is so nice, you gotta say it. Ice, it is Yutou and Oscar.
02:55Your IWGP Tag Team Champions.

03:26What is the duo of Shota Uno and Yuya Lamora,
03:32glorfully known as Yu Shou?
03:35You yourself telling me that translating to something that gets to victory,
03:39to get to victory in Japanese yeah but they didn't get the usual here in world tag lead
03:45going to pick up one more win here tonight if we're going to get one more go around for Hiroshi
03:50Tanahashi here in Komao Alto we bid farewell to the wrestling world to one legend here tonight
03:56wish our best to John Cena in retirement John Cena meaning so much to the global landscape
04:02in professional wrestling Hiroshi Tanahashi just the same and I think the importance the
04:08significance the cultural significance of Hiroshi Tanahashi's retirement being marked by that
04:14sellout of the Tokyo Dome three weeks in advance on January the 4th 2026 in Wrestle Kingdom 20.
04:21man we are going to be selling out damn near every single other building Tanahashi hits
04:25on the road to January 4th 2026 and there are less than what five more events that we're going to be
04:31seeing the ace on an in-ring competition either way that includes Wrestle Kingdom it does and we're
04:37going to be saying goodbye to Hiroshi Tanahashi here tonight in Grand Messe in Kumamoto
04:44and he will do so alongside two of Hogtai's strongest soldiers Shota Umino and Yuya Lamura

05:28Thank you so much for watching!
05:32You can see it at night like tonight, we're set on a level our announce position
05:38We can see the crowd very well here on a night where they're allowed to take those video clips
05:45for posterity and it's a seed of smartphones, everybody trying to get that last video, the
05:53last time Hiroshi Tanahashi came to our town as a professional wrestler, it's all starting
05:59to feel very very real, Wilco.
06:02I'll be quite honest with you Chris, it's been an incredibly emotional, emotional series
06:09for World Tag League 2025.
06:11Tanahashi, I mean when it comes to league competition alongside all Phantasma, sure not performing
06:17up to the standard which he would set for Hongtai which he has set for himself in years past,
06:22but the ace of the universe now going to look ahead toward the future and I'm not just talking
06:27about Uemura and Uemura, I'm talking about Utah Ice and Oscar.
06:32There's a long and long documented issue between Utah Ice and Uemura, we talked about that back
06:39in Corcoran Hall just as well as we talked about it in World Tag League action.
06:43I want to talk a little bit about the dynamics though of this Hongtai team, Shota Uemura,
06:47Uemura, Hiroshi Tanahashi and you know at the start of the tour before you came on the road
06:51with us, I was here in Fujisawa, Tanahashi El Phantasma versus Uemura and Uemura and after
06:58that match Uemura took to the microphone, very emotional, passionate and said to Tanahashi,
07:06leave Hontai to us, to we, to me and Uemura he said and bowed down, full prostrate completely
07:14bowed down, bowed his head to Tanahashi, and Uemura didn't join in on that gesture.
07:21Tanahashi notifying, noticing the, the, the gesture that Uemura made and looking Uemura
07:30in the eye and saying, you two, and there was, it wasn't a case of Uemura setting himself
07:37apart from Uemura, it was just that, the, the illustration there of the two men with the
07:41same goal but with different ways of doing it. And I thought it was a very interesting
07:46insight into the future perhaps of Hontai in 2026.
07:50Well we have long seen Shota Uemura to be the type to be a bit more vocal and to put his
07:55words where his actions have not been yet to follow. We saw that whenever he said, well
07:59I'm going to be the next ace of New Japan Pro Wrestling and then managed to fail in the
08:03Tokyo Dome against Zack Sabre Jr. Uemura seems a little bit more action oriented. We'll do all the
08:09talking when the action is over and the action's heating up here as Shota Uemura
08:14Oh, cut down to size and that's saying something.
08:17You see there was a lot, a lot, a lot of motion from Shota Uemura in the opening seconds here.
08:22But, very effective. Very effective.
08:28I think that there are times, not just in the sport of professional wrestling, but in life, Chris, where you have to be broken down,
08:38you have to be broken down to your very core element to be able to find who you are again.
08:42To be able to find what you were meant to become.
08:44And, you know, really going through that whole metamorphosis in the year of 2025.
08:48He was in a deep, a very, very deep dark pit in January of this year.
08:53And a lot of people's help have gotten him back to where he needs to be.
08:59And I think this tag team with Yuya Uemura has gotten him to where he needs to be.
09:04Now, we talk about where Shota Uemura and Yuya Uemura need to find themselves.
09:15But Oscar and Utah Ice have already found themselves exactly where they hope to stay.
09:21And that is reigning as IWGP Tag Team Champion.
09:24But being eliminated now, Chris, from World Tag League 2025.
09:27Their first ever entrance into this Tag League tournament in their career.
09:31Ice and Oscar are going to become the most hunted men now in the heavyweight tag division.
09:36Yeah.
09:37If they weren't already.
09:38Yeah.
09:39Of course.
09:40You know.
09:41And now the talk is, well, Oscar and Utah Ice, they can be beat.
09:47And so now the question becomes, how long can they keep hold of those OWGP Tag Team Championships?
09:55Ice and Oscar will tell you they plan for that to be a very, very long time.
10:01Oscar and Ice day is 77 here on the evening.
10:04One defense deep of the IWGP Tag Team titles.
10:09And Oscar, well, has not exactly gotten along too well with the unaffiliated Daikina guy.
10:14He says that the guy has dropped the ball at damn near every single opportunity he's been given so far
10:19in the World Tag League undercard.
10:22And a lot of those alongside the knockout brothers.
10:24Shoot!
10:25Shoot!
10:26Shoot!
10:27Shoot!
10:28Shoot!
10:29Shoot!
10:30Shoot!
10:31Shoot!
10:32Shoot!
10:33Shoot!
10:34Shoot!
10:35Shoot!
10:36Shoot!
10:37Yeah.
10:38Shoot!
10:39Yeah, he's walking down.
10:40I'm over here.
10:41I mean, I think a lot of people see.
10:42Wait a second.
10:43I think a lot of people see, you know, some of the sort of attitude in Daiki Nagai as a young lion when he was just in the Nogai Deojo days before he set himself apart as unaffiliated.
10:55They saw a lot of the attitude that Kosei Fujita had as a young lion.
10:59They saw a lot of the attitude that, well, the young lion by the name of Yuto Nakashima had.
11:04And they kind of want the same things for them.
11:07And Daiki Nagai, there's a lot of want to in the kid, but I mean, he just isn't experienced enough at this point.
11:12And that's fine.
11:13That will come.
11:14But when you're putting yourself into probably the highest pressure unit that there is here in New Japan Pro Wrestling, in the War Dogs, the expectation is a lot higher.
11:25There isn't any, he'll get by, he'll learn.
11:29It's like, no, you've got to perform, you've got to succeed now.
11:34This is, we got to focus on our opponents, gentlemen.
11:37Daiki Nagai and Oskar.
11:39Oh, and Shota Umino crushing it on Nagai.
11:42And I believe Oskar to be the legal man now, as a couple of tags have been made in the interim.
11:46And it has been a Shota and Oskar that have been at each other's throats ever since.
11:50Oskar and Yuto first won the IWGP Tag Team title.
11:54And whether it be in World Tag League competition or in Ryugoku Sumo Hall with the Tag Team titles on the line,
12:03Oskar and Uemura have yet to put down the knockout brothers.
12:07All right, Uemura in, Ice in, here we go.
12:14Oskar and Oskar just shot.
12:20But Tanahashi.
12:21Well, I think Uto Ice would be very, very pleased with himself if he could maybe isolate Tanahashi off of the road to the Tokyo Dome card.
12:32Well, Ice was definitely pleased with himself for getting that win over Tanahashi in the LP.
12:37Finally, Pinny, Hiroshi Tanahashi, a lifelong dream he has held since he was 15 years of age.
12:46And no, he couldn't get it done in a singles environment.
12:49But to be able to do it within his wheelhouse of Tag Team Wrestling, that's all the more satisfying for Ice.
12:55Let's watch Uto here.
12:57One of the boot pass by for Uemura.
12:59And a huge flying forearm is only going to find.
13:02Uto Ice to the corner, stumbled.
13:22It's Uto Ice underneath Uemura here, the troop.
13:25Yid and Yang of this current generation being Uemura and Uto Ice.
13:30And it's everything from presentation to in-ring style that you can make these comparisons.
13:35Cover here for Uemura.
13:36That's Ukao.
13:37Yeah, certainly attitude, things like that.
13:40And, I mean, Ice very critical of Uemura's glad-handing and the work he does appealing to our fans.
13:49And Ice would never sort of kowtow to anybody.
13:52It's just, I mean, the difference is that Uemura enjoys that work.
13:57He enjoys doing that promotion.
13:58He enjoys doing charitable affairs.
14:03It's the life of the son of professional wrestling.
14:06The new son on the rise as an old son sets.
14:10And Tanahashi desperately wants to be in with Ice here, Walker.
14:12He's got to take it everything into Uemura.
14:16He's got to make the call.
14:18Tag made.
14:19Here comes the ace.
14:21You knew Uemura wanted more than anything to put more punishment on his nemesis Ice.
14:29But Tanahashi wants it more.
14:31This might be the last time they ever share a ring walker.
14:34Ice and Tanahashi.
14:35Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no.
14:43And a cross-shake of Senzad here.
14:47Cover for the ace.
14:48And a two-count homie.
14:53Last chance for Tanahashi to show that, yes, he is the strongest man to ever come out of Obaki City in gear fit.
15:02Oh, oh, oh, oh.
15:07Go.
15:11Ice is connected with a lot of these open palms.
15:14And it rocked Tanahashi on the apron earlier on.
15:17Tanahashi rocked down dead center.
15:19And Uemura and Uemura are going to be kept out of the ring.
15:21The knockout brothers are going to have the ace in a lot of trouble.
15:28Watch it, watch it.
15:30K.O.B. inbound.
15:32No, Tanahashi sends Oscar into Ice.
15:35Wait, wait, wait.
15:37The guy tagged himself in.
15:39Ice was legal.
15:39And the guy tagged himself in.
15:42He knew he wouldn't get a tag.
15:44Who made the blind one?
15:48Yeah.
15:49And the guy, the guy.
15:57Oh, suplex on Tanahashi.
16:02Cover here for the guy.
16:06And the guy knows.
16:08This is almost certainly his last time sharing a ring with the ace.
16:15His last time to perhaps do the unthinkable walker.
16:19No, no, no, Tanahashi dragging a screw leg whip.
16:33And it's Yuto Ice with a K.O. boot.
16:36Directly to the jaw of Tanahashi.
16:38Here comes Uemura now.
16:39Oh, what's hilarious?
16:41No, no, no.
16:41Yuto hadn't scouted.
16:43This never managed to put down Ice and Oscar's attack team.
16:46You have Yusho.
16:47Oh, he wouldn't put down all three at the same time.
16:53And finally, here comes the big man.
16:55Oh, six boots.
16:58Oscar still didn't go down.
16:59Man, watch big schnitz here.
17:01Here we go.
17:03No, no.
17:04Oscar, dead center of the ring.
17:06Uemura and Uemura collide.
17:09And a harite from Tanahashi.
17:12Oh, watch that, Aaron.
17:14Oh, geez.
17:16Oh, wow.
17:29Tanahashi, watch it, victory roll.
17:31Nagai, no.
17:33Oh, no, no, no.
17:33Nearly took one here tonight in Kubo-Voto.
17:39Take it, Nagai.
17:40Going to drive it like he stole it here.
17:42Right into a wall.
17:44Sling blade.
17:45One more for the road in Kumamoto Walker, here we go!
17:53Tanahashi from the skies for the final time in KUMA!
17:59High fly blow! It's over!
18:04Worked on it!
18:06Tanahashi from the final stage!
18:23I would not want to be taking a guy when he reaches the backstage area, Walker.
18:28And certainly not with how Oscar and Utah Ice have treated this entire ordeal,
18:35but you're very well maybe right about something you said earlier on, Chris.
18:39Utah Ice very well may have shared a professional wrestling ring for the last time with Hiroshi Tanahashi.
18:58Tanahashi trying to hold it together. Can you imagine the tears?
19:08There won't be a dry eye in the house.
19:1145,000, 50,000 people in the Tokyo Dome.
19:15They'll be falling on January the 4th.
19:19And we're going to be doing it just alongside them, right here in the English Broadcast Book.
19:23We'll be live January 4th in the Tokyo Dome on NJW World for the final match in the Legacy of the Ace.
19:31Hiroshi Tanahashi battles Kazuchika Hokana one-on-one.
19:44And meanwhile, no direct path for Shoto Ubrou and Yuya Uemura on the Tokyo Dome card.
19:50Same goes for the IWGP Tag Team Champions.
19:53Well, I mean, you're right.
19:54If Yota Suji, Yota Suji is going to be wrestling to Kesley and the Tokyo Dome.
20:00So if Suji and Kid win more Tag League, well, there won't be a Tag Team Championship match in the Tokyo Dome, that's for sure.
20:07That will be a hell of a sight.
20:36the site when all is said and done.
20:42Hiroshi Tanahashi ending
20:44his professional wrestling career
20:45and we are
20:48less than 30 days away from it all.
21:03Chris, you and I
21:04are going to have a lot of opportunities
21:05in short order to
21:07talk about what Tanahashi means
21:10to you and I personally.
21:11To what Hiroshi Tanahashi means to
21:13the sport of professional wrestling.
21:16The man who put New Japan on his
21:18back and the reason we are all here
21:19today.
21:21It continues to be the reason we're here.
21:24It continues to be the reason why we get our paychecks
21:25at least.
21:27Tanahashi might be leaving the ring behind
21:29but he'll remain our boss.
21:32and he'll be the best.
21:33He's the best.
21:34He's the best.
21:35Well, let's hear from it.
21:40The new Japan Progressive has returned to Kumamoto.
21:47Today, I'm the last of the KumaWata. Thank you for your support.
21:59From now on, it will be the work of all of our young wrestlers
22:08to carry New Japan Pro Wrestling forward. We look forward to your support.
22:12Even though we haven't finished out yet,
22:16Tanahashi wants to let us know that he loves us,
22:19and we'll let him know that we love him as well.
22:26The final time in Kumamoto for Hiroshi Tanahashi,
22:32as it is going to be back to the drawing board,
22:34heading the way of Tokyo Dome and Ota General Gymnasium season.
22:38WrestleKingdom 20, January 4th, New Year Dash,
22:42January 5th, 2026 on the New Japan Pro Wrestling schedule.
22:46Will Yuya Uemura or Shotsu Uemura find their mark on either of those nights?
22:51We're going to have to stay tuned to find out.
22:53But we might have new Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions right there.
22:58Maybe they're Artists of Stardom Champions. I'm not sure.
23:01Well, wrestling fans are following match of the evening, coming up right here, right now.
23:13A lot of animosity has been built off the back of the elimination for United Empire in this year's World Tag League.
23:19And there are more question marks than there are answers when talking about United Empire heading into 2026.
23:26It is Callum Newman and Great Okad who put the attack on Hiromu Takahashi just a few days ago back in Satsuma Sendai.
23:36Now as it stands, Newman and Great Okad take on Finlay and Hiromu.
23:40A World Tag League Clock League rematch coming up right here on the World Tag League Finals.
23:46Can I thank you, guys? Thank you! Thank you!!!
