00:00I bet Disney has it somewhere in their vaults.

00:02After Joe Jonas was in Camp Rock,

00:04Disney decided to also add Nick and Kevin as a vehicle to hard launch the band.

00:08Kind of. It's like half true.

00:10Joe got the role of Shane Gray in Camp Rock.

00:12As our band was already doing its thing for a couple of years, we were on tour.

00:16We were on the theme park circuit, which is basically

00:19you go to these outdoor amphitheaters at Six Flags or Wonder Park,

00:23wherever we can basically get booked and put on a free show.

00:27But things were starting to work and year 3000 was starting to bubble and

00:31we felt like we had some momentum, but we needed something to propel us.

00:34And so Joe gets this call to audition for this Disney movie.

00:40I recall us helping him do his self-tape audition in our hotel room.

00:44I wish we could find this.

00:45Like a Holiday Inn in Albuquerque or something.

00:48I know Disney has it somewhere in their vaults.

00:50But we used this thing called a FlipFid.

00:52Some of my millennial folks out there, you might know what it is,

00:54but it was like the first gen of like a camera that had a USB connect.

00:58And you could upload videos.

00:58You hit a button.

01:00So we did that, but it looked terrible.

01:02I literally held a lamp like this pointed at him like a spotlight.

01:05It was awesome.

01:06So the Disney execs called our dad, who was one of our managers at the time.

01:09They're like, is this a joke?

01:10Like, this is the worst looking video we've ever seen.

01:13Not his audition, but the quality of the video.

01:15We got a better tape and he got the job.

01:17We shot it on a Razer phone.

01:18No, I'm just kidding.

01:19Our dad was the one that was like, well, it's really important that we keep this kind of unit together

01:24and that this band has a shot to really do its thing.

01:27So if you're taking Joe, you got to add Nick and Kevin.

01:30So they created this Connect 3 band and, you know, the rest, as they say, is Camp Rock.
