00:00We had a very good conversation one hour ago with the European leaders, many of them
00:07involving the war with Russia and Ukraine.
00:11We were — we had a long discussion, and things are seemingly going well, but we've
00:17been saying that for a long time, and it's a difficult one.
00:22We had, as you know, settled eight wars, and one was having a little problem yesterday,
00:26Thailand and Cambodia, we were able to straighten that out.
00:30There was some killing going on that shouldn't have happened, and we appreciate them working
00:36to get it straightened out, and they have.
00:39The security protocols yesterday were amazing, and they have been amazing, having to do with
00:46Russia and Ukraine.
00:47And I had a long talk with President Zelensky.
00:52Also, I spoke with the heads of Germany, Italy, NATO, Finland, France, the United Kingdom,
01:00Poland, Norway, Denmark, and the Netherlands.
01:03We had very long and very good talks.
01:07And again, I think things are going along pretty well.
01:13Twenty-seven thousand soldiers were killed last month.
01:16It shouldn't happen.
01:17It should have never happened.
01:18It should have never started.
01:19That war should have never, ever started.
01:23But it did, and we're trying to get it solved.
01:24That was Biden's situation.
01:26We're trying to get it done.
01:30And I think we're closer now.
01:31And they will tell you that they're closer now.
01:34We had numerous conversations with President Putin of Russia.
01:39And I think we're closer now than we have been ever.
01:43And we'll see what we can do.
01:44We want to save a lot of lives.
01:46We sell equipment to NATO.
01:47We don't spend any money.
01:49But we do want to see if we can save a lot of lives.
01:52When you're losing 25,000 to 30,000 soldiers, mostly soldiers, other people, too, from towns,
02:00and places like Kiev, various other places throughout Ukraine, it's pretty bad.
02:08Nobody's seen anything like it, actually, since World War II.
02:13But we're getting closer.
02:15We're having tremendous support from European leaders.
02:20They want to get it ended also.
02:22And at this moment, Russia wants to get it ended.
02:25The problem is they'll want to get it ended, and then all of a sudden they won't.
02:29And Ukraine will want to get it ended, and all of a sudden they won't.
02:33So we have to get them on the same page.
02:35But I think that's working along.
02:36Very good talk.
02:37Question about Ukraine.
02:39Now that the meetings in Berlin have wrapped up with Zelensky, is there a timetable for
02:45going to Moscow?
02:46Is the delegation going?
02:47Well, I think that the delegation is largely there right now, actually.
02:51They're in Europe.
02:53And they met with those people that I called out before the various countries, plus some
02:57others.
03:00They want to see it end, Katie.
03:01They want to see it end.
03:02They all.
03:03I want to see it end.
03:04They want to see it end.
03:05I actually think that President Putin wants to see it end.
03:09You know, I've had good talks.
03:10We've had good talks with Russia.
03:13And I think they'd like to get back to a more normal way of life.
03:17The Pressure to follow up there.
03:19An Article 5-like deal seems to be emerging without NATO membership for Ukraine.
03:26If such a security guarantee is offered, what incentive is there for Ukraine to give them
03:31any sort of territory?
03:32Well, look, you have — well, they've already lost the territory, you know, to be honest.
03:37I mean, they've — the territory is lost.
03:39But — but in terms of security guarantee, we're working — we're working with Europe
03:44on it.
03:45Europe would be a big part of that.
03:46And we're working on the security guarantee so the war doesn't start up again.
03:51We don't want to have a war start up again.
03:52You know, as I said, with Thailand and Cambodia, two people I get along with great.
04:00And I dealt with them and I called them and I said, look, you've got to relax.
04:03You've got to take it easy.
04:04They lost.
04:05You know, they started the war again.
04:07And I got it ended.
04:10And things like that are going to happen.
04:11War.
04:12There's nothing — nothing pretty about war.
04:14Nothing good.
04:15And there's nothing you can do to predict what's going to happen.
04:18But I think we've made a lot of progress with respect to Russia and Ukraine.
04:21And I hope — I hope — you know, last — last month, it was close to 27,000 soldiers
04:27were killed — mostly soldiers — but — 27,000 people.
04:31But mostly soldiers were killed last month in Russia versus Ukraine.
04:36Is there a time limit on security guarantees?
04:38Well, there's no time limit.
04:39We just — the time limit is whenever we get it done.
04:42I mean, we're going to try to get it done.
04:44We're making progress.
04:45It's more difficult than anybody could have thought.
04:48I would have said that half of the wars that I got settled — some were going for over
04:5230 years — that half of them should have been more difficult, and they actually haven't
04:57been.
04:58There's a lot of dislike between the two leaders.
05:00You know that?
05:01And so it probably makes it a little bit tough.
05:03Have you recently spoken directly to Putin?
05:05Have you recently spoken directly to Putin?
05:08Yeah, I have.
