Student builds a flying pedal bicycle

Fusha Sakai, a dedicated member of the Sakai Windmill Association at Osaka Public University, has reached an impressive milestone in the field of aviation. He has developed a groundbreaking aircraft that functions similarly to a bicycle. This student-led organization emphasizes human-powered flight, engaging in the design, manufacturing, and piloting of its aircraft, while also competing in notable events such as the Birdman Contest to break records.

Despite facing challenges, including a damaged aircraft during last year's Birdman Contest—where the team secured a commendable 7th place in the Human Powered Propeller Aircraft Division—the Sakai Windmill Association has remained resilient. This year, they are preparing to demonstrate their creativity and dedication as they aim to push the limits of human-powered flight with their remarkable flying bicycle aircraft.
