01:00I'm Kylie and I arrived in Australia almost two years ago and this is my friend Courtney.
01:06And we met through our kids' school.
01:09We instantly became friends the moment we met.
01:12She really knows me. She knows my husband Mark really well.
01:15She knows the kids really well. She knows what we're after.
01:17She's got good taste in things.
01:19I think that we might be slightly different in some aspects of our tastes
01:23because I feel like Kylie might be a little bit more contemporary.
01:26So it will be interesting to see what happens with the choice.
01:31We're going to be house hunting in the northern beaches
01:33because I wanted to live by the ocean my whole life.
01:37I lived in Johannesburg in South Africa
01:39and my highlight of my life was always heading down to the coast.
01:42So this is a dream come true.
01:45The budget is not that important right now.
01:47I think we just want to see what's out there
01:49and what value we can get and where we can push to.

17:17But before we meet up to hear her decision, I was lucky enough to have a chat with Sue, the Northern Beaches Mayor, where I found out why this area is such a gem.
17:30Sue, of course it's in your right to think that the Northern Beaches is the best place in Australia.
17:35But tell us what makes this area so special.
17:38The Northern Beaches is a special slice of paradise.
17:41We've got incredible beaches, families that love living, playing here, parents that love working here.
17:48It's an extraordinary place.
17:49We've got incredible creative community here.
17:53So if you're into the arts, we've got amazing schools.
17:57We've got something for everybody and people just love coming here.
18:01And even as far as lifestyles go, from Palm Beach right down to Manly, it's so diverse.
18:06I mean, as you say, we're here in Manly now, which is as big as some towns altogether.
18:10Then Palm Beach is a completely different story.
18:12Absolutely.
18:13And that's what makes it really unique here.
18:15When we've got so many beaches, we've got lagoons, it is an incredible place to discover your favourite area.
18:23Before you became the mayor of this area, what did a normal day look like for you?
18:28I imagine it's very different now.
18:30But how did you enjoy this area?
18:31It's funny.
18:32I moved here for love.
18:33The love didn't last, but I fell in love with the community.
18:37And that's why I stayed here.
18:39And I find that most people who come here find that incredible community themselves, which are just extraordinary people.
18:46Communities here really care about each other.
18:49We have the highest rate of volunteerism than virtually anywhere in New South Wales here, because the people here really want to help others and give back.
18:57It is an extraordinary place to live.

19:29Let's talk through house number one, which was so close to the centre of town here.
19:34The location was fantastic.
19:38The actual home was beautiful.
19:39It was classic.
19:40The flow was fantastic.
19:42It was an entertainer's dream.
19:44The only concern I think I had was that I am looking for something with a bit of a bigger yard and a pool.
19:51It had a lot of storage space.
19:53It could really help.
19:54You know, we could really fit quite nicely into that home.
19:57Okay, then house number two, we went a little bit further up the coast, North Curl Curl.
20:03That beach is endless, really, and I can see you sending your kids down to the surf club and just watching them from the balcony.
20:10That location was fantastic.
20:12I definitely got a suburban feel, relaxed, quieter streets.
20:16There's definitely a pill in that.
20:18It's a little more, you know, contemporary.
20:20And that yard, that yard was fantastic with the pool area, sauna, pool.
20:24It felt like you could be living in a resort.
20:27Number three, a bit of a curveball.
20:31Endless views, again, all the way up to Palm Beach along the coastline.
20:35Really contemporary style living there, but it was an oversized apartment.
20:40Yeah, beautiful.
20:41Those views, you would never beat those views.
20:43And it's just a different lifestyle and way of living.
20:45I can imagine that to be quite minimalistic, low maintenance.
20:49I think the lifestyle we could have in that apartment would be unbeatable.
20:53You're right on the beach, you could chuck the kids over the wall and do knickers.
20:57Did any of the houses you see fit the bill?
21:01So I think it comes down to the fact that it's given me more insight as to what I want.
21:07And I think I need to keep looking.
