00:00You know, it's funny, last night I'm watching basketball, only game in town, New York Knicks,

00:04San Antonio Spurs, the Emirates Cup, and if it wasn't the Knicks in the Cup, I wouldn't have

00:08cared. I want to be very honest with the audience, but the fact that my beloved Knicks were in the

00:13Cup, the fact that they have this great fourth quarter and comeback in the second half to beat

00:17the Spurs and hoist the Cup and take home the money and the championship, what a great day to

00:23be alive, everybody. I told you back in October that the New York Knicks were going to win the

00:28Cup, and I wanted them to win the Cup. I don't give a rat's ass about raising a banner. I don't

00:33think they should raise a banner, but I am not going to turn my back on the fact that when you

00:39are competing for a championship, whether it be a Fugazi in season tournament or the real one in

00:45June, and you defeat other teams and players that are trying equally as hard to dethrone you so that

00:52they can celebrate a championship win, then gosh darn it, I'm going to enjoy it, I'm going to celebrate

00:59it, and I'm going to be obnoxious about it. The New York Knickerbockers are your 2025,

01:052026 Emirates Cup champions. Woo!

01:11There's no 2026 in there.

01:13Yeah, the reason I say 26 is that when I wake up in January, who's the current Emirates Cup champion?

01:22I'll tell you something else. It's very important at this game last night.

01:26The San Antonio Spurs are a very good basketball team, and they have legitimate championship

01:33aspirations, of course. They weren't fulfilled last night.

01:37They're a very young team.

01:38They just dominated them in the fourth quarter. I don't care about how old or young they are.

01:42It don't matter to me. They have a championship pedigree. They do.

01:46They're going to give the Oklahoma City Thunder a run for their money come late May, in my opinion.

01:54But the New York Knicks have that special extra something, and it's called fourth quarter basketball.

03:00And look, I am not equating or comparing what happened last night to winning the real championship

03:05at the end of the season.

03:06I want to be very clear about this.

03:08The fact that us in Nickland here, all right, are enjoying our first ever win in anything

03:14in competition since 1973, you have to allow us to enjoy that.

03:20We have not won a championship since 1973.

03:24I did the math.

03:25But it's been 52 years since the New York Knicks won a championship of any kind.

03:30Nobody is suggesting, which is why I'm against raising a banner.

03:35If they do it, I'm not going to be upset about it.

03:37But I don't want them to do it because when the Lakers did it, I mocked them.

03:41When any other team did it, I mocked them.

03:44And I know that I'm going to be mocked and my team's going to be mocked if we wind up raising

03:48the banner Friday before we beat the Sixers at Madison Square Garden.

03:52Not going to happen.

03:53But whether they raise a banner or not doesn't take away from the fact that this was a real

03:59competition.

03:59Even you said the other day that from the quarterfinals on, we saw great basketball.

04:05Very well played.

04:06The first Thunder game a couple nights ago was a great basketball game.

04:10The Knicks Magic, a great basketball game.

04:12And I frankly think last night was, again, there were a couple of lulls in the game, but

04:16was a great competitive basketball game.

04:20So mock Adam Silver, all you will, mock the Knicks for celebrating the way they did last

04:25night like they won a real championship.

04:27It was competitive.

04:29It was.

04:29There was money on the line.

04:31There was.

04:31A significant amount of money for some.

04:33Yeah, a lot of money.

04:34All right?

04:34And there was an opportunity to say of the 32 teams in basketball, 30 teams in basketball,

04:41in this one small little sample size, we were better than everybody else.

04:47And you cannot take that away from a franchise that is under more pressure this year than

04:54I think any other year in the storied history of Knicks basketball.

04:58And the reason I say that is, you go to an Eastern Conference final last year, the Celtics lose

05:04their best player to an Achilles injury, Tatum.

05:07Uh-huh.

05:07The Pacers lose their best player to an Achilles injury.

05:11So you've taken away the two biggest threats you had last year.

05:15Then you fire the head coach who got you to the Eastern Conference finals.

05:20There was more pressure this year on Mike Brown as a first-year head coach and on the New

05:26York Knicks to do better than they did last year.

05:29And while last night we're not crowned NBA champions, it shows you something that we know

05:36how to win.
