00:00Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the times events in Georgie
00:11and Mandy's first marriage made us look at young Sheldon in a whole new light.
00:23Number 10. Setting up the timeline for Georgie's future.
00:27Pretty much from the moment Georgie and Mandy became an item, it felt like young Sheldon
00:32was already setting the stage for their next spin-off.
00:35I just wanted to be here.
00:38Really?
00:40Yeah.
00:43That's what we wanted too.
00:45You could argue the idea might have been floating around in the writers' heads
00:50ever since Georgie and his dad made this bet.
00:52Georgie, I'll bet you a thousand dollars you're married before you're 25.
00:57You gotta bet.
00:59Feel like I'm stealing your money.
01:02Georgie married his first wife at 19.
01:06Either way, it didn't take long for them to slide into the center of the series,
01:10as we followed their whole journey into parenthood and marriage with all its ups and downs.
01:15The series finale seemed to go the extra mile to set up this new phase of Georgie's life,
01:20as he quickly steps into the man-of-the-house role after George Sr. passes away.
01:25You don't need to worry.
01:28I've got everything under control.
01:36I won't let you down, Dad.
01:37Number 9, Soft Kitty
01:40Since Big Bang, Soft Kitty comes as close to Sheldon's off switch as anything.
01:45I'm trying to tell a grown man to go to sleep.
01:48Soft kitty, warm kitty, little ball of fur.
01:54That's not gonna work.
01:56That's not gonna work.
01:57In Young Sheldon, we see Mary sing it to him when he's sick.
02:00But the moment that really matters is Sheldon singing it to his niece when she won't stop crying.
02:06Then in First Marriage, we hear Georgie sing it to his daughter to help her sleep.
02:10Soft kitty, warm kitty, little ball of fur.
02:16Happy kitty, sleepy kitty, purr, purr, purr.
02:23On one hand, it's a sweet little reminder that baby Cece is fully folded into a long-standing Cooper family tradition.
02:30But even more than that, it feels like one of the few threads connecting her to her uncle,
02:35someone she probably won't grow up knowing beyond the stories the family passes down.
02:40Happy kitty, sleepy kitty, purr, purr, purr.
02:47Are you freaking kidding me?
02:49I'm not happy about it either.
02:50Number eight, work versus family.
02:53Mandy and Georgie get into an argument when Georgie starts talking about expanding their family,
02:58while Mandy's energy is firmly on her career right now.
03:02I don't want to have another kid right now.
03:03Well, when?
03:04I don't know.
03:05But someday?
03:06I don't know.
03:07So maybe not someday?
03:09Maybe not.
03:10Well, what if I'm not okay with that?
03:11Well, too bad.
03:12It's my decision.
03:13It's not the first time this very real and relatable conflict has shown up for them.
03:17In Young Sheldon, Mandy decides she wants to jumpstart her weather girl career in Medford
03:22after having Cece.
03:23And Georgie isn't exactly as supportive as he could be.
03:27I want a career.
03:28Well, I happen to think motherhood is a career.
03:30Hmm.
03:32What about fatherhood?
03:34You have a job.
03:35It's different.
03:36Why?
03:37Because.
03:39There's lots of reasons.
03:40Back then, Mandy learned how tough it is to be a working mother.
03:44If juggling work and motherhood already felt like a handful with one child,
03:48the thought of doing it with more will naturally make her break into a sweat.
03:52Today was the longest I've been away from her and it was awful.
03:57So you don't want the job?
03:58I don't know.
04:01Number seven, Mandy's ex.
04:04One of the things we learn about Mandy is that she used to date her boss back in San Antonio
04:09and things did not end well.
04:11Why'd you leave?
04:12The station manager and I broke up.
04:15But now his new girlfriend gets to be on TV at 8.30.
04:18Well, now Scott is back in her life and has once again offered her a job.
04:23While she accepts, she neglects to tell Georgie who her new boss is,
04:27which inevitably leads to drama.
04:30Scott apologizes to Mandy for the way he handled things back in San Antonio.
04:34I'm sorry.
04:35I handled that badly and you deserved better.
04:42However, we do have to wonder if there's more to the story Mandy initially told Georgie,
04:48because we're not sure we'd want to work for someone who could send us packing the moment
04:52someone else turns their head.
04:53Well, we're not going away, it's a work trip.
04:57Right, but when you and I first got together, it was on a work trip.
05:01Well, that was different. I was single then.
05:04I wasn't.
05:06Number six, the foundations of a marriage.
05:08There's no getting around the fact that the way we handle relationships
05:12usually come from what we saw growing up.
05:15Did I want to get stuck coaching high school football?
05:18Did I want to live across the street from your mother?
05:20Did I want to spend my evening getting yelled at by my daughter and my son and my wife?
05:24I'm sorry, I didn't realize you were so unhappy.
05:26Because you never bothered to ask.
05:28Mary and George's marriage has love at its core, sure.
05:32Yet it's also full of fights, long stretches of emotional distance, and wandering eyes.
05:37In Young Sheldon, they're constantly dealing with money stress
05:41and trying to balance their own wants with the never-ending needs of their family.
05:45You're honestly happy with how your life turned out. You have no regrets.
05:48That giant mistake gave us our children, who I love very much.
05:52What about your husband?
05:53Oh, I love him just fine.
05:54Oh nice, put that on a Hallmark card.
05:56Georgie and Mandy carry pieces of that, juggling a big age gap, tight finances,
06:02and raising a child while still learning how to be adults.
06:06Honestly, the fact that the McAllister's is bickering during Thanksgiving
06:09makes Mary miss George speaks volumes.
06:12Your father and I used to argue about him getting drunk on Thanksgiving.
06:17And I'll never get to do that again.
06:23You miss arguing with Dad?
06:27Yes.
06:28This one probably goes all the way back to TBBT when Georgie tells us what life was like after George
06:38passed.
06:39Who do you think took care of everything?
06:40Mom did. Mom always took care of everything.
06:43Mom was a miss. Missy was a dumb teenager. I had to look after both of them.
06:49We also know that once Sheldon heads to Pasadena, the distance between the brothers only grows.
06:55Looking back at all the ways Georgie watched out for Sheldon,
06:58it just doesn't feel like that alone would be enough to crack their bond.
07:02Georgie even mentions calling Sheldon for
07:04help while he's trying to get ahead in the tire business.
07:07I learned how to say hi in Korean.
07:10How'd you learn that?
07:12Called Sheldon. He also taught me.
07:15What's that mean?
07:16Where's the bathroom?
07:18Why does your brother know Korean?
07:21Why does he know Klingon?
07:22And sure, Sheldon isn't exactly the most reliable narrator,
07:26but that almost makes it tougher to swallow,
07:28knowing Georgie was there for him far more than he ever realized.
07:32Status report?
07:34Your eyes are bone.
07:35So I have time for a second slice?
07:36Go nuts.
07:37Copy.
07:40Our kid's weird. I'm ready.
07:42Number 4. Missy's Difficult Years
07:45Missy's difficult years may have started while her dad was still around,
07:49but losing him definitely made everything harder.
07:52What were you thinking?
07:54I was thinking I didn't want to take the test.
07:56So cut class. Don't pull a fire alarm.
07:58Next time I'll know better.
08:00No next time.
08:01She starts acting out more, and with their father gone,
08:04Georgie feels he has to step up and be the steady one for his sister.
08:09He's even the one who suggests she face her grief directly.
08:12I really miss you.
08:19Feel better?
08:20No, you jerk!
08:23When Missy sits at their dad's headstone,
08:25we're reminded of every daddy-daughter moment and all the times he was her anchor.
08:30And through it all, Georgie was there for her too.
08:33In the spin-off, we see how years of him having her back have turned into a bond where
08:38Missy knows her big brother will always be there for her.
08:48As Georgie sets out on a road trip with his father-in-law,
08:52he decides to invite Connor along for the ride,
08:55seeing the parallels between Mandy's brother and his own.
08:58Growing up in my family, nobody really understood Sheldon.
09:01Sometimes I wish I tried harder.
09:04Well, he's still your brother. You can always call him.
09:08Of course, the trip doesn't exactly go as planned,
09:11which instantly brings back memories of another road trip that went sideways.
09:15Naturally, in Young Sheldon, we only hear our narrator's version of events,
09:20so it's actually quite interesting to hear it from Georgie's perspective.
09:24Once my dad took me and Sheldon to Florida to see the space shuttle launch.
09:27Oh, I always wanted to see that.
09:29Me too. It got rained out.
09:30I spent the whole time in a motel room listening to Sheldon complain.
09:34It really makes you realize how much he had to bite his tongue throughout that misadventure.
09:39Well, at the very least, we can call it good practice
09:42for all those times he apparently saved Sheldon from their sister.
09:46I can't imagine what it must have been like for you to grow up with a brother like that.
09:50What I'm most proud of is how many times I kept his sister from killing him.
09:54Number 2. Like father, like son.
09:57George Sr. and Georgie always had a pretty complicated relationship,
10:01and they just saw the world in totally different ways.
10:04I think it's great that you got this job. You're doing so well then.
10:10I'm proud of it.
10:12Alright.
10:13I'm proud of it.
10:14I'm proud of it.
10:14I'm proud of it.
10:15I'm proud of it.
10:15I'm proud of it.
10:16I'm proud of it.
10:17I'm proud of it.
10:17I'm proud of it.
10:18I'm proud of it.
10:18After George Sr. dies,
10:19George feels that he has to step into that man of the house role, trying to figure things
10:24out the way his dad would have.
10:26My brother tried to fill the vacuum created by my father's passing.
10:29$3,500.
10:31You do realize we're talking about the beloved head coach of a winning football team.
10:35In the spin-off, you really feel how much he misses his father, and how much more he appreciates
10:41everything George Sr. did for their family. It almost feels like the show is going the extra
10:46mile in doing damage control for the version of George Sr. that Sheldon remembered.
10:51I'm worried if I work myself into the ground, I won't be around for my daughter.
10:56I get that.
10:59I want to be there when she has kids.
11:00Well, hopefully it's a lot later than when you had kids.
11:04From your mouth to God's ears.
11:08I did a good job raising you.

11:26Number 1. Father-Son Talks in the Truck
11:29In first marriage, we see that Georgie has inherited George Sr.'s truck.
11:34Fair enough, Sheldon can't drive and we can guess why Missy wouldn't get it.
11:38But there's more to it than practicality.
11:41You're not driving my truck.
11:43Come on, just here in the parking lot.
11:44No!
11:46Please, Daddy.
11:49I know what you're doing.
11:50Creating memories that'll last a lifetime?
11:53Even if it wasn't in that truck specifically,
11:57George and his kids shared plenty of important moments while on the road.
12:01You get that I was doing this for the baby, right?
12:03I do.
12:05Which one you think about it, could be a reason to be proud of me.
12:13Takes my time.
12:14Think about it.
12:15For Georgie especially, it almost feels like he's hanging on to a piece of his dad,
12:20taking him along for the ride even if he's not physically here anymore.
12:24And honestly, it's hard not to get a little emotional thinking about George still being
12:29part of his family's life in such a simple, everyday way.
12:33Come on.
12:34You've got a good head on your shoulders.
12:36Why don't you try using it?
12:37Listen to you, you sound like Dad.
12:39Well, you know, genetics.
12:41Which young Sheldon moments have you revisited since watching First Marriage?
