00:00But now you're starting to see more of a marriage between the ground game
00:04and the pass game, and it's doing what it's supposed to do,
00:07especially under center if you have these kind of plays that look like the runs
00:11and you've had some successful runs off of them,
00:14and then you have linebackers start crashing down and you're pulling it,
00:17and now you have a play-action pass and the linebackers are sucked in
00:20and you've got space in the intermediate part of the field.
00:23I mean, this is the kind of stuff that can really help kickstart this offense.
00:27I also saw commitment.
00:29I saw commitment to the ground game, and Barkley has talked about this, Bill,
00:33where he said that we can't allow defenses to dictate to us the terms.
00:39We have to go out and dictate to them.
00:41That's something that he's been talking about for really since the beginning of the year
00:45and has stood sort of steadfast by, and I think that that absolutely applied
00:49where you weren't getting big chunk gains all the time on the ground,
00:54but they were committed to that balanced attack,
00:56and that is absolutely when this offense is at its best.
00:59All right.
01:00You take last Sunday's game, obviously a drubbing of the Raiders,
01:04but the defense did exactly what they were supposed to do.
01:06It looks like they've been putting a lot of pressure on, especially up front lately.
01:09What do you take out of a game like that, and is this just something to build on,
01:16or is this what we're expected to see every week?
01:19Obviously, you can't go too overboard because of the opponent,
01:22and to be very clear, the Raiders might be the worst team in the NFL,
01:28so you have to take it for what it is.
01:31But that was the absolute performance that you're looking for.
01:35I mean, a 31-0 shutout, the defense allows only 75 yards on the ground,
01:41or total, excuse me.
01:43And the way that Fangio put it, I thought was really interesting,
01:46is that he credited the offense.
01:49He said you don't have a performance like that unless all parts are working,
01:53and he noted in particular how the offense was sustaining drives
01:57and establishing the ground game.
02:00So I guess the best way to answer that is that they put forth the formula
02:05for what could work for this team to get to the ultimate prize.
02:09If you can establish the run, if you can limit the three and outs,
02:14if you can have those longer drives and complement a defense
02:18that is capable of dominating,
02:21then all of a sudden you have a really nice postseason recipe.
02:24So whether it's the Raiders or it doesn't matter what team is out there,
02:28if you're able to sort of get a taste of that and land on a formula,
02:32I think that was a huge positive step in the right direction for this football team.
