00:00It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, but not nearly enough for my liking.
00:09I am totally Little Miss Christmas.
00:12I'm Sarah Davies and crafting is my passion, especially at Christmas.
00:18That looks right. Thank you Mama Craft.
00:21Lovely.
00:22So I'm on a mission to spread a bit of homemade festive magic.
00:26One, two, three.
00:31Each week I'll be joined by two celebrity crafters,
00:37going head-to-head to make the best decorations.
00:41Ooh, it's a contest.
00:43Oh, that is fabulous.
00:46I mean, I'm supposed to pick a winner, aren't I?
00:48Together we'll be spruising up our trees.
00:51Utter perfection.
00:53I think I'm going to be rolled.
00:55Yes.
00:56And sparkling up our centre pieces.
00:59Nice little filled with paper.
01:00Wow.
01:01I've just seen how much you've got.
01:03It was a really bad idea.
01:07So grab your glue guns and let's get Christmas crafting.
01:10Dingle murrily on high.
01:26Today I'm joined by Emmerdale legend Lisa Riley and TV personality Scarlet Moffat.
01:33I'm looking forward to it.
01:35I am as well, you know.
01:37Reason to make my little niece crowd, bless her.
01:39How old is she?
01:40She's seven.
01:41She loves it.
01:42And then you'll be able to do it with her?
01:44Yeah.
01:45Whatever you learn.
01:46I do like crafting.
01:47I think things are going to be lovely.
01:48Yeah.
01:49I want to sort of listen to what Sarah says and I'll be a sponge and learn from her.
01:53Yeah, definitely.
01:54Were you a teacher's pet at school?
01:56Was that me?
01:57Oh yeah, I wasn't either.
01:58No.
01:59I'm so excited for a day of Christmas crafting.
02:03I've got my tin salon.
02:04I'm with Lisa and Sarah.
02:06What a time to be alive.
02:07Well, hello you two.
02:09We're northern girls, so we're going to have an absolute ball.
02:13Yeah, it'll be loud.
02:14Definitely loud.
02:15It won't be quiet.
02:16You'll be guaranteed of that.
02:17Come on in, come on.
02:24Everything my celebrity guests make over the next few weeks is to transform this beautiful
02:29house into a magical Christmas party venue.
02:34And we're having a little friendly competition to see which of them does it best.
02:40Right, so I need some help.
02:41I'm throwing a party here and I'm inviting all of the local people who can't celebrate Christmas
02:46on Christmas Day because they have to work.
02:49Yes.
02:50So I'm going to need some help decorating the room.
02:52I'm a bit nervous now.
02:53My crafting is minimal.
02:55Well, you've done a bit of crafting then.
02:56Yeah, in the sense that I've got a two-year-old.
02:58So it's like just sticking stuff on paper.
03:01OK, so a bit of kids crafting.
03:02How about you?
03:03Word on the street has it.
03:05Not only is Mandy quite the crafter, but so is Lisa.
03:08Is that right?
03:09Yeah, Mandy Dingle can make anything.
03:11But I also love it, yeah.
03:12Craft and queen over there, yeah?
03:13Baby sex.
03:14You do realise you're in competition today?
03:16Oh, are you competitive?
03:17No, not at all.
03:18We're northern, no.
03:19Oh, you're doing really well.
03:21Oh, isn't that nice?
03:23Shall we get started?
03:24Yes, please.
03:25Right.
03:26So, first thing we're going to do is some decorations for the tree.
03:29Now, here's my absent delivery.
03:31Have you had a go at pom-poms before?
03:33No.
03:34Oh!
03:35You.
03:36You have, haven't you?
03:37I sound like a right Kev Keane, don't I?
03:38No, it's just, it's just, when I was at Girl Guides, I just wanted a full sleeve.
03:42Oh!
03:43All the badges, so yeah, I did, I did sewing.
03:45Yeah.
03:46Very cute.
03:47You're going to love these.
03:48It's like a cheat way to make pom-poms, right?
03:50Yeah.
03:51So you've got some pom-pom makers, you're going to need some wool.
03:52Oh, I've just got a pack of coloured felt.
03:55Oh!
03:56Oh!
03:57A bit of ribbon there.
03:58Oh!
03:59And we'll need these.
04:01Just wait and see what we're making.
04:03Right.
04:04OK.
04:05So, Lisa, did you do pom-poms in the Girl Guides?
04:07Yeah, we made pom-poms, yeah.
04:08But did you do it the old-fashioned way?
04:10Yeah.
04:11Cardboard circles.
04:12Cardboard circles.
04:13These means you can make a speedy pom-pom.
04:15OK, we like that.
04:16Right?
04:17Yeah.
04:18And you want to do both of them?
04:19It's a nice one.
04:20There you go.
04:21Both sides.
04:22Please, please help me.
04:23She's got it, she's got it there.
04:24I mean, me little A-star student office over there.
04:26Oh, no, it's not.
04:27I'm not comfortable.
04:28Yes.
04:29The glasses are on.
04:30I'm ready.
04:31The glasses are on.
04:32No.
04:33Right, all you do is you take your wool and just wind it
04:37round the pom-pom maker.
04:40Oh, Lisa's compliant.
04:42Oh, Lisa's compliant.
04:43It's only because it matches my cardie.
04:44I want it to look nice.
04:45It does match your cardie.
04:46It's going to look really nice.
04:47It can be a brooch when I'm done.
04:49Keep winding.
04:50You want it nice and full and voluptuous.
04:53You don't want a semi-bold pom-pom.
04:55I'll fix yours, babe.
04:57Keep going.
04:59Yeah.
05:00Keep winding.
05:01Oh, my goodness.
05:02You doing good?
05:03Oh, she's on a mission.
05:06She's taking it really serious now.
05:08Right.
05:09Now, what you're going to do when you get to the end of this bit,
05:10right, is we're just going to wind it round and go and do the other side.
05:15Yeah?
05:16So, you've got half of it done.
05:17So, keep going.
05:18So, just wind it over.
05:19And then you go on the other side.
05:21Oh, sorry.
05:22Oh!
05:23Oh, so what's the plans for Christmas this year?
05:25We're going to be away, so we go to New York.
05:28Oh.
05:29And I think at Christmas, it's magic.
05:31Mine's a bit different.
05:32I'm doing panto.
05:33Oh, nice.
05:34Yeah.
05:35I love it, you know.
05:36Yeah.
05:37Oh, I feel like you were made for panto.
05:38Yeah, you are.
05:39I feel like I am just panto personified, I think.
05:42That's looking great.
05:43How's yours coming on, Lisa?
05:44Am I all right? So good.
05:45Should we go for it?
05:46Yeah.
05:47Yeah.
05:48All you do now is put the two bits of this together.
05:51You're going to get your fancy little scissors and you go in the middle and cut.
05:56Oh.
05:57So just push it all in.
05:59Oh, am I done there?
06:00Am I done?
06:01That's it, yeah.
06:02All you do then is take a piece of wool and we're going to wrap it around the middle.
06:06Tie it all together.
06:07And then just tie it into a really tight knot.
06:10So it's holding it all together.
06:12And then you literally just take these off.
06:15It all comes apart and you'll see...
06:18Yeah.
06:19Oh!
06:20Pull it out of the pom-pom.
06:22Do you know what?
06:23It actually felt amazing making me first pom-pom.
06:26It made me remember why I love crafting so much.
06:29Give it a good fluff.
06:31God!
06:32You're then going to get your scissors and you're going to give it a nice trim.
06:35Do you know what?
06:36We're going to make gonks.
06:37Oh.
06:38We're going to make these into a gonk.
06:40Fab.
06:41Right, so I've cut you out a little template for his hat.
06:46And the hat is going to go on top of the gonk.
06:49Nice.
06:50Yes.
06:51Can I have that neon pink?
06:52It's very Mandy Dingle.
06:53That is very Mandy.
06:54Yeah.
06:56So all you're doing is literally cutting around it.
06:59Right, if you want to hang him up by his hat before you glue your hat together,
07:03all you want to do is put a little bit of twine inside so that we've got that nice little hanger.
07:10And then I'm just going to stick this down.
07:13So you're both big glue gun fans already, are you?
07:15I love a glue gun.
07:17I've got friends who are drag queens.
07:19I know what a glue gun is.
07:20Yeah.
07:21Yeah.
07:22See, I do ballroom and Latin dancing and I often stone my own dresses because I find it quite therapeutic.
07:28Do you?
07:29Aw.
07:30Hold on.
07:31I shouldn't have a hole.
07:32I've got a hole on top of my hat.
07:33I'm going to open my little cerise thing up.
07:35Do you know what it is?
07:36You just want to line it up.
07:37Edge to edge.
07:38Yeah.
07:39Hold it down.
07:41It is a little bit fiddly, but once you get it, you just add whatever embellishments you want.
07:46OK, so I've done my little hat.
07:48I've added a bit of trim.
07:49Oh, you've got like your trim on there.
07:51Rustic mine.
07:52Rustic.
07:53I'm covering up a disaster that I made.
07:55There's no disasters here, lovely.
07:57It's artistic license.
07:59Yes.
08:00And then what you'll find is you want to kind of wedge him into the hat.
08:04And then, this is why we needed the nose.
08:07Ah.
08:08Ah.
08:09Yeah.
08:10And his nice big nose cut.
08:11There he is.
08:12Very cute.
08:13Cute.
08:14And, of course, he doesn't have any eyes or anything because you only see his nose.
08:17So, I'm going to get ready.
08:18It's like Claudia Winkleman.
08:19Oh, yes.
08:20I am feeling it with my little gonk there.
08:26Oh, cute.
08:27Oh, look how cute.
08:28Cute.
08:29I've surprised myself.
08:30Yeah, I made a little faux pas with the edge on my hat of my gonk.
08:34It's lovely to learn and then have the finished product.
08:37You're like, so proud of what you've made.
08:39Cute eyes, but literally they will look fabulous on the Christmas tree.
08:44Love it.
08:45Love it.
08:54OK, so, level one pom-poming, complete.
08:57Ah.
08:58Right?
08:59Yes.
09:00What I thought we'd do now is do a two-tone pom-pom.
09:01Ooh.
09:02OK.
09:03So, I've brought you all some brown wool as well.
09:05Oh, thank you.
09:06Right.
09:07And if we do brown on one side, white on the other, we'll get Christmas pudding.
09:12Oh, that's real.
09:13Oh, yes.
09:14Oh, yes.
09:15And you're going to, we're just going to do white on one side and then you'll just cut
09:18that off and you'll do the other side and the brown.
09:20So, we all proper northernia.
09:22Yeah.
09:23But do you have bread sauce then?
09:25Oh, yes.
09:26Always.
09:27Do you?
09:28Always.
09:29Yeah.
09:30Not just gravy.
09:31No, no.
09:32And also, we have to make it.
09:33That's putty's a posh.
09:34Yeah.
09:35I think people who have bread sauce are proper posh.
09:37No way.
09:38No.
09:39My posh friends that have bread sauce.
09:40I've never been called posh-like.
09:41Everyone else, I'm not pom.
09:42I'm not.
09:43Right, hang on.
09:46So, we should have a multi-coloured pom-pom.
09:49Right.
09:50Get your lovely little scissors then.
09:52What am I doing?
09:53Oh, yeah.
09:54I'm going to do the trim bit.
09:55Amazing how much better you get by your second pom-pom, isn't it?
09:58Yeah.
09:59It can be our girl group, the pom-poms.
10:01It's got a bit of a ring to it, that.
10:04Yeah.
10:05Right, so when you get to that stage, you want a little bit of wool.
10:09And all you're doing is wrapping it round the middle.
10:12And once it's round...
10:14I remember.
10:15And then I like to always wrap it around twice.
10:17Or even three times.
10:19You can't kind of go around, but pull it lovely and tight.
10:22Hey, who has a Christmas pudding?
10:24I'm more of a Christmas cake girl.
10:25I love the Christmas cake.
10:27Well, we just buy a dessert.
10:28And I once bought...
10:30Well, it was meant to be a salted caramel profiterole stack.
10:34Right?
10:35Yes.
10:36But then it got substituted on me click and click.
10:38No!
10:39And they just give us five chocolate eclairs.
10:40Stop!
10:43And I was like, I just stacked.
10:44Five chocolate eclairs!
10:46What?
10:47That was my centrepiece for me dessert.
10:49Are you a good cook, Scarlett?
10:51Absolutely not.
10:52I'm horrific.
10:53Me too.
10:54I pour the condiments into stuff.
10:57That's like my...
10:58That's your idea of cooking?
11:00Mine's not done it right, has it?
11:01Yeah.
11:02Has it?
11:04Oh, yeah.
11:05And you just need to take it apart.
11:07There you go.
11:08Thank you very much.
11:09Fluff it.
11:10Fluff it up.
11:11The more fluffing you get, the better it's going to look.
11:14Right.
11:15Do you know what I've realised?
11:16Oh, no!
11:17Oh, no!
11:18Oh, no!
11:19You didn't dry it tight!
11:20You didn't dry it tight!
11:21Right.
11:22Hold it tight!
11:24Let me see if it can be salvaged.
11:26It looks like noodles!
11:27It looks like noodles!
11:28It looks like noodles!
11:32I did say too much, didn't I?
11:34Right, let's see what we can do.
11:36All right, we can salvage it.
11:37Yeah.
11:38Right.
11:39Right, do you think we can?
11:40Yeah.
11:41It's artsy.
11:42It's artsy.
11:43Oh, that's lovely.
11:44See?
11:45It's molten a bit, but that's all right.
11:47I mean, see if you can fashion that into a Christmas pudding.
11:53That's legit what my cooking looked like.
11:57I mean...
11:58Exhibit B.
11:59It's definitely got charm, hasn't it?
12:00Right.
12:01There's a bit of felt there.
12:02And cut out some holly leaves.
12:03Oh, right.
12:04On the top of your...
12:05Yeah.
12:06...freehand holly leaf cutting.
12:07Do I glue gun these on?
12:08Yeah.
12:09And then we'll just glue gun them on?
12:10Yeah.
12:11Do you know what?
12:12I think you've salvaged that really, really.
12:13Why?
12:14Given the disaster that we had, I think you've really pulled that back to life.
12:19I think.
12:20Do you know what?
12:21I genuinely do.
12:22I think the less we say about my Christmas pudding, the better.
12:25And emphasis on the taken part is what counts.
12:29Look at that.
12:30That's cute.
12:31Oh, I love She's Got Home.
12:32Hello, my little Baba.
12:33Mine's certainly not perfect, you know.
12:36But yeah, when I go home, me and Evelyn, my niece, we're definitely going to be making
12:40a pudding and a gonk, that's for sure.
12:42Well, I think our little pom-poms look fab and with the little gonks as well.
12:47Oh, I'm dead proud of both of you.
13:02So, do you feel suitably eased into the crafting now?
13:12I feel like I'm on a lilo, I'm floating.
13:14I hope you're not too zen, though, because we've got a lot of crafts to get through.
13:17OK, OK, OK.
13:18OK, I need the showstopper piece.
13:20I need a fabulous big star for the top of the tree.
13:23Nice.
13:24And I thought, if we need a star, let's do a six-point origami star,
13:28and we're just going to do it out of squares of paper.
13:31You make it sound so easy.
13:33It's going to be dead easy.
13:34The only big decision you need to make, are you going glittery card or gold card?
13:39Ooh.
13:40Matte or glitter?
13:41Can I go glitter, please?
13:43I'm like a magpile of anything that sparkles.
13:45So, you're going to need six layers.
13:46Six glitter.
13:48I'm going to go glitter as well.
13:49You're going to go glitter.
13:50Well, in that case, then, I'll go matte gold.
13:52Now, bear in mind, we're going to do the same fold six times, right?
13:55Are we ready?
13:56Yes.
13:57Over we go.
13:58And I want you to go diagonally, point to point.
14:05And then give it a nice crease.
14:07Right.
14:08So, once we're open, we're going to put the diagonal in front of us,
14:12and I want you to fold one of the points in to the middle
14:16to line up with that fold line.
14:19Yep.
14:20Oh, yeah.
14:21You got it?
14:22Yeah.
14:23I'm going to do the same with the other side.
14:25Take it into the middle to meet it.
14:27Right.
14:28The bottom piece folds over.
14:32Like that.
14:33It doesn't have to be exact, exact, is it?
14:35No.
14:36No.
14:37Because that's not me.
14:38No one's going to look close.
14:39And then this outer point comes into the middle.
14:43Like this.
14:48That's it.
14:49And again.
14:50And again.
14:51She's flying through it now.
14:52Oh.
14:53Closet origami over here.
14:56I wonder about what you call them, origamias.
14:58Origamias?
14:59Origamists.
15:00Origamists.
15:01Origamists, yeah.
15:02Very nice.
15:03That is the first point on our star.
15:06That's it.
15:07Right.
15:08Now you've perfected it, I need six of them.
15:10How do you think you'll put the star on the top of your tree, then?
15:13What have you got on the top of your tree at the moment?
15:15I'm an angel gown.
15:16Yeah.
15:17Did you make it or buy it?
15:18Do you know what?
15:19It is actually made from, like, when I was a kid.
15:22Oh, you've still got it?
15:23Yeah.
15:24Yeah.
15:25Right.
15:26Keep it going.
15:27I'll tell you what.
15:28She's good in here.
15:29And then can you remember the last thing?
15:30Do you make your own envelopes?
15:31Oh, yes.
15:32So I invented a product called the Enveloper, so all these crafters make their own cards
15:38and then make an envelope with my envelope holding bars.
15:41That's amazing, that, isn't it?
15:42I'm dead proud of this, but when I received my MBA, I walked up to Prince William,
15:46and he just looked at us and he went, mind that Enveloper.
15:49That's something, isn't it?
15:50And I just think if I could go back and relive that moment in my life, I wish I'd said,
15:53like, is your grandma into making hand-making?
15:58Oh, Lisa's at the next one.
16:00Oh.
16:01It's not a competition, Lisa.
16:02It's not.
16:03Do you know what I'm just thinking?
16:04It's just not a speedy competition.
16:06No.
16:07So have you shot the Emmerdale Christmas special yet?
16:09Yes.
16:10Yes.
16:11So there's loads of drama coming up.
16:12No.
16:13Oh, no.
16:14Always.
16:15Yes.
16:16But they're always really fun days to shoot, yeah.
16:17Oh.
16:18Yeah.
16:19I'm always the naughty one, though I am.
16:20If there's any, like, prop food on the table, when one of the characters is not looking,
16:23I'll probably plonk something in and go, and action, and then they'll mess the lines up
16:29because there'll be a sprout in the room.
16:31That's so...
16:32I'm terrible.
16:33After all these years, I still haven't grown up, and I still find things like that funny.
16:37Have you got all six of yours done?
16:38All six.
16:39That's it.
16:40So, first thing you want to do is put some glue in this bit here so that they stick,
16:45right?
16:46So both of these, that little triangle in the middle, you want to pass a little bit of
16:52glue in there and stick them.
16:55So we just fold them in.
16:56Have I done that right?
16:57Oh, right.
16:58Yes, you have.
16:59That's not stuck together, then.
17:00No, it's perfect.
17:01All right.
17:02So here's the thing.
17:03When you've got the six of them, we're going to stick them on top of each other.
17:04So if you get glue into this part down here, right?
17:08So if I get glue into that triangle there, and then I can bring the next one, you see,
17:14and glue the next one on top of it.
17:17And you've got that little bit of manoeuvrability time before the glue sets.
17:21Yeah.
17:22Like that?
17:23That's it.
17:27And then we just go on with the next one, and it'll just line on top.
17:35OK.
17:36What's going on?
17:37Yeah?
17:38Right.
17:39And then, because we're going to put it on the top of the tree, notice I've been saving
17:43the toilet roll holder.
17:44Yeah.
17:45Right?
17:46All we're going to do is wrap it in a bit of glitter card, and then just attach this in
17:50the bottom.
17:51So this is, I guess, more of the construction kind of crafting we're doing now.
17:55She's going in.
17:56She's going in.
17:57She's going in.
17:58I'm ready for the top of the tree.
18:00But you could see how you could make two of those and put them back to back, and just
18:04hang them in the corner, couldn't you?
18:05Yeah.
18:06Oh, lovely.
18:07Yeah, I think I need something for the middle, because I've got that gap, haven't I?
18:10But hey-ho.
18:11Pass it over at you, Lisa.
18:14Mama Craft.
18:15All we need to do is just angle them round a little bit.
18:18Yeah?
18:19Is it looking a bit more even now?
18:21Yeah, that's better.
18:22Looks good from here.
18:23Thank you, Mama Craft.
18:24Lovely.
18:25Love it.
18:26Keep you right.
18:27The origami was really good fun.
18:28And something that you might look at initially and go, that's really hard.
18:32Once you got into the process and you knew what was coming next, the detail was there
18:36and it was really simple.
18:37Aww.
18:38Oh, that's so cute.
18:39How are you getting on there, Scarlett?
18:41Nothing good, you know.
18:42I've got my little toilet roll in.
18:44Yes!
18:45Honestly, I am now going to save all of my toilet roll holders, because who knew the
18:50things that you can make?
18:52In fact, not that we've got a limit on our house, but I'm going to say to Scott, you
18:55have free reign now.
18:56You don't have to just ten ply it.
18:58Have as much as you want, because I need those toilet roll holders.
19:02Right, this isn't enough.
19:06So I thought we could have some little shooting stars coming off the side.
19:10Nice.
19:11Stick with it.
19:12OK.
19:21Right, got rid of all of that mess.
19:23Are we ready for the shooting, Stannis?
19:25Ready.
19:26OK.
19:27I've been making air dry clay, but I've made a measure of all each.
19:31So if you have half a cup of baking soda, half a cup of corn flour, then add three quarters
19:36of a cup of water, stir it on the hob, it'll start to bubble.
19:40As soon as it's boiling, turn it down, keep stirring it, it'll all come together like a
19:45dough.
19:46And then just pop it in a bowl, damp tea towel over the top, let it cool down and just keep
19:50it in the fridge.
19:51Wow.
19:52And the great thing is you can make all sorts.
19:53So you could make tree ornaments out of there.
19:55We're going to do some stars for some decorations.
19:58And you can just leave them to air dry for a couple of days, or you can pop them in the
20:02oven on low.
20:03Right, OK.
20:04If you're worried about rolling it out, by the way, I've got a bit of corn flour here.
20:07So just dust a little bit of corn flour down, then it'll roll out and come off easily.
20:11So here's the thing, you don't want to roll it out so thin that your pieces are flimsy,
20:16but you want to roll it thin enough that you're not waiting an eternity for it to harden.
20:21And I've got some little stars here.
20:22I might do some medium-sized ones.
20:25And all you're doing is cutting out your stars, and then they'll just harden.
20:30Now, you can either bake them in the oven for like 45 minutes to an hour,
20:36or if you leave them out in the air, they'll just take 48 hours.
20:40So what I did was, a couple of days ago, I cut us a load of stars out,
20:44and I've had them drying for a couple of days now.
20:47Let's just put them down on the floor to start and dry,
20:49and I'll get you my ones out that I've got us ready.
20:52And so in true Sarah style, here are some I prepared earlier, all right?
20:58So get plenty of little stars.
21:00I've got some nice gold paint.
21:02So pass this your little paint pot over.
21:04Some nice gold paint, and we can just sit and do a bit of painting.
21:08So what is your favourite memory of Christmas from being a kid?
21:12Being at my grandma and granddad's, like, so early in the morning,
21:17and all I ever wanted was the Gymkhana from My Little Pony.
21:21It was like my dream, and I can really remember it.
21:25Like, it was the best Christmas ever.
21:27That's so cute. Yeah.
21:29Mine is...
21:30So every year, we would go to my nanny and pappy's,
21:33and there'd be loads of us.
21:35And when you were a kid, you were only allowed a bowl,
21:39cos they didn't want us to, like, spill the gravy.
21:41Yeah.
21:42And I remember being 12 and getting upgraded to a plate.
21:47Oh!
21:48And I know that sounds really pathetic, right?
21:50No! Of course.
21:51But I literally remember me pappy bringing a plate out,
21:54and I was like, for me?
21:56Oh!
21:57And then I was like, I'm an adult.
21:58You are.
21:59Made it.
22:00Made it.
22:01Right, so if we leave them to dry,
22:03now we're going to make them shoot off our tree topper, OK?
22:07So I've got some, just some nice big thick wire,
22:10and it is as simple as taking a bottle
22:13and wrapping it around the bottle, OK?
22:17Lift that off,
22:19and then this will attach up here,
22:21and then we can glue our stars on.
22:23Now, you've made that look really easy.
22:25It is really easy.
22:26Right.
22:27Get twizzling.
22:28Three, twizzle a bit.
22:29Get twizzling.
22:30And you see, it's aluminium wire.
22:32That's why it's got that little bit of give on it.
22:34And then you'll just be gluing them
22:36just into there like this.
22:37Ah, nice, OK.
22:39So I'm putting the glue inside the cardboard.
22:42Yeah, yeah, yeah.
22:43And then that, you see, because the thing is as well,
22:45you want to give the glue plenty of time to set.
22:48Are you putting three or just two?
22:50I'm going to put three on.
22:51Yeah.
22:52I think I might just have one.
22:53Do you think?
22:54Yeah.
22:55Just one of them on?
22:56You're going chic?
22:57I'm going, yeah.
22:58I'm going minimal.
22:59Oh, shizzing.
23:01Right.
23:02Shizzing.
23:03Yeah.
23:04Oh, the twizzles are twizzling.
23:05Where's my stars?
23:06There's your stars.
23:07Oh, it's drying nicely.
23:08Oh, yeah.
23:09And I would just put little bits of glue on,
23:11because you only need a little bit for it to grab.
23:14And if it's too big, you're holding it for ages.
23:17Oh, no.
23:18This is mint.
23:19Look how good these are.
23:20I know.
23:21Oh, I am so impressed with this.
23:24And the way it's lifted it from it being the star,
23:27well, this has just made it into something...
23:29Really spectacular.
23:30Yeah.
23:31I'm really, really proud of my tree topper.
23:34And the process of going, oh, we're making stars.
23:37Oh, we're making twizzles.
23:38Oh, we're seeing all the origami together.
23:40And then all of a sudden, these three processes
23:43became one really great end result.
23:47I loved it.
23:48I'm so proud.
23:49I can't wait to put that up at home.
23:50I actually think mine looks mint, you know.
23:52It does?
23:53Yeah.
23:54You said it was, like, real shock.
23:56Oh, shh.
23:57You've dropped one of your stars.
23:59I've dropped a star.
24:00With the queen of the jungle, you can't drop a star.
24:02So, please tell me this is going to make a pride of place
24:05on top of the tree this year.
24:06Definitely.
24:07Scotty, wasn't it?
24:08Yes.
24:09I love it.
24:20We all love serving something a bit special at Christmas,
24:25so I'm about to whip up a festive little treat
24:28that proves pinecones aren't just for the tree.
24:33Right, I'm going to make Lisa and Scarlet a lovely little treat.
24:37And I'm going to do pinecone truffles.
24:39Now, we're going to start off with some dark-coloured biscuits
24:42into a blender.
24:44We're going to take them down to a breadcrumb consistency.
24:50Now, if you don't have a blender,
24:57you can always just do it with a rolling pin.
25:00I'll just pop them in a little plastic bag and crush them down.
25:03And then I'm going to add just a few tablespoons
25:07of room-temperature cream cheese.
25:10And we're just going to bring it all together.
25:13You want it in, like, a thick-paste consistency.
25:16We're going to take a big tablespoon
25:19and just form it into a nice pinecone shape.
25:31Now, I'm going to take them one at a time.
25:35Just make sure they're corny enough.
25:39And then I've just got some little chocolate crispy cereal.
25:43And then I'm just going to lift them up into shape.
26:02And I think they look fabulous.
26:05Just a little dusting for the top.
26:07And then the only problem with these beautiful pinecone truffles
26:12is they just look a little bit too good to be eaten.
26:17Oh, I feel like the hostess with the mostess coming in with the treat.
26:29I told you I made you a treat.
26:30Yes.
26:31And you're vegan, aren't you?
26:32Yes.
26:33Vegan cream cheese for yours.
26:35Mushed-up biscuits.
26:36Yeah.
26:37Yeah.
26:38And then these are little bits of cereal.
26:40Oh!
26:41Mmm!
26:42Good enough for our guests, do you reckon?
26:43Beyond.
26:44Mmm!
26:45You thought we were quiet with the therapeutic painting.
26:46Now I'm silent with this.
26:48And it looked really like pinecones.
26:49It looked brilliant.
26:50Right.
26:51Come on, we've got plenty of crafting still to get going.
26:53OK, so we've got the top of the tree sorted.
26:56We're now going to work collaboratively to do the bottom.
26:59Now I know when we say tree skirt, you think of like a fabric skirt.
27:02However, I've got a vision.
27:04I thought if we all work together on a gingerbread village.
27:08Oh!
27:09So I've got some old cardboard boxes,
27:11and I thought if we had a little bit each,
27:13and I thought if we do a couple of little houses,
27:16connect them all together,
27:18they'll go to another Christmas tree.
27:20Oh, that's cute.
27:21Right?
27:22These are paint pens.
27:24So it's just acrylic paint in a pen.
27:26You can do one big house.
27:28You can do two little houses.
27:29You can do a wide one and a skinny one.
27:31You do whatever you want.
27:33I'm going to see how it goes.
27:34I'm feeling a bit Bridgerton-y.
27:36Are you?
27:37Oh, OK.
27:38They look really good
27:39when you've got like different shaped houses and roofs.
27:48How are your painting skills, Scarlett?
27:50Do you know what?
27:51I enjoy creative stuff.
27:53I'm not very good at it,
27:54but I don't think that particularly matters.
27:56Like it brings me joy, so I just think...
27:58I think that's what a lot of people forget,
27:59is that it really isn't about having to be good at something.
28:03No.
28:04I always think a little bit wrong is always right.
28:06Yes.
28:07You know, just strive to be, you know, do what you do.
28:10Yeah.
28:12Who's a fan of the Christmas markets?
28:14Oh, more than.
28:15Yeah.
28:16Yeah.
28:17I was so lucky to go to Germany as well.
28:19The German...
28:20You came to the German ones?
28:21Yeah.
28:22I absolutely love all the Scandi decorations.
28:24Yeah, I love the Christmas market.
28:26I love tackiness.
28:27Tackiness.
28:28Oh, I love it.
28:29One thing I can promise you is my healthiness was well tacky.
28:33I like what you've done with the bricks.
28:35I think I'm going to copy that.
28:36My bricks?
28:37Yeah.
28:38Thanks.
28:42If you're going to cut the windows out,
28:44the great thing is I've got some backlights that we can then use.
28:47Oh, very cute.
28:49To just light it up.
28:51I mean, I'll be honest, I did think I was a bit better than...
28:55Yeah, me too.
28:57I feel like my GCSE art has just gone right out of the way there.
29:01Yeah.
29:02And you might have done this, but to cut your windows out,
29:05just poke it in from the centre and then cut to the outside
29:09and then you're just connecting the cut pieces.
29:11No, I haven't done that, but I shall be doing that.
29:13Don't forget, you've got to cut your roof out as well.
29:18I'm making candy cane curtains inside.
29:20Candy cane curtains?
29:21Yeah.
29:23Look at that.
29:24I've used two bits of the macrame yarn
29:28and just a little bit of gold so that I can just plop that
29:32and make it into, like, a little bit of a garland
29:34and then I'll do another one to make a little bit of a wreath as well.
29:41Here we are all in our own little world, aren't we?
29:43Oh, I love it.
29:44This reminds me of when, when we'd do Gogglebox,
29:47my dad would be like,
29:48can you be quiet, I'm trying to watch the telly
29:50and I'd be like, they literally can't make a show without us talking to them.
29:53LAUGHTER
29:55I'll just dress it up a little bit cos mine looks horrendous.
30:00It doesn't!
30:01No, it doesn't!
30:03This is going to be an outhouse.
30:04I'm going a bit Bronte-ish.
30:05Can I change my theme?
30:07Yeah, like...
30:08You're not Bridgerton any more with Bronte now.
30:09No, I've got a bit Bronte.
30:10Yeah, rustic.
30:11We're using that word a lot today.
30:12Yes.
30:13Yeah.
30:14Gosh, this is so fun.
30:15You're lovin' it?
30:16Yeah.
30:17I feel like I haven't done anything like this in ages.
30:20Do you know what?
30:21I actually feel like I'm more arty than I thought,
30:24cos I really got into, like, drawing the house
30:27and painting and cutting out and...
30:29Yeah, I just feel like a kid again.
30:31I've got all sorts over here, you know.
30:32I've got some berries if you want to...
30:34Oh, I might put a couple of little trees outside of mine.
30:37I'm just going to cover everything in glitter.
30:39Please may I have some of that gold card?
30:41Oh, look how cute you are.
30:42Please may I have.
30:43I don't know what I'm going to do with it,
30:44but I'm going to stick it to someone.
30:45You quite like the thought of putting it up there.
30:47In the house of Bronte Tat.
30:49But Gingerbread House was, shall we say, unique?
30:52Yes, it was definitely unique.
30:54It just went in different stages.
30:56I knew what I wanted it to be,
30:57then it went somewhere, went somewhere else,
30:59and then it went on a motorway
31:00that no-one even knows where you'll end up.
31:08For someone who doesn't drink,
31:09that looks like I've had six bottles of brandy.
31:11Well, I think it's looking brilliant.
31:14I think it is as well.
31:16Are you enjoying yourself?
31:17I'm having the time of my life.
31:18Yeah, that's all that matters.
31:19Could we cut that up as well?
31:21Oh, a bit of that, Bob.
31:22Some of that on.
31:23Oh, yeah.
31:24When in Rome.
31:25I don't know what I'm even making any more.
31:27Give me love some.
31:29Oh, my gosh.
31:30So, I have to ask then,
31:32do you have a big party,
31:33like your Emmerdale wrap party
31:35when you wrap up for Christmas?
31:36Yes.
31:37Yeah.
31:38Oh, I bet there's all sorts goes on, is there?
31:40Oh, yes.
31:41Oh, yes.
31:42But what stays at the Emmerdale party stays...
31:43Yes.
31:44It's carnage.
31:45And, yeah, you can always guarantee
31:46there'll be a lot of tales the following day.
31:48Oh, yes.
31:49Yeah.
31:50What's this here?
31:51Oh, yes.
31:52It could be a car wash.
31:53I love it.
31:54Sometimes things don't have to make sense.
31:56And this doesn't, but it's making me happy.
31:58Interpretive art.
32:00Exactly.
32:01Hey, that's what she said.
32:02Interpretive art.
32:04We're going to see this on the walls of the Tate Gallery
32:07being auctioned off for 17 mil.
32:11The Bronte Tattie House.
32:15I mean, it's like a street we know, you know.
32:17Sarah's was beautiful, old, gorgeous,
32:20and then Scarlet's was dainty in the middle,
32:22and then my house was just a little bit mayhem,
32:24so I was embracing my inner dingle.
32:29Oh, Lisa.
32:30Yes.
32:32I mean, that is just something else.
32:35It looks like a four-year-old substitute.
32:37In the best way possible, though.
32:39Yeah.
32:40But do you know what?
32:41I'm proud of it.
32:42Let's have a look, Scarlet.
32:43Oh, it's looking good.
32:45Really girly.
32:46It's looking good.
32:47Is it girly?
32:48Yeah.
32:49Yeah.
32:50And then I've got...
32:51Look at that.
32:52Yours is like Harrods.
32:53Yeah.
32:54Yeah.
32:56We are a craft shame-free zone,
32:58and Lisa's house, I don't care what anyone says,
33:01it was wonderful.
33:02And then attach yours to Lisa's with a glue gun.
33:05Don't be embarrassed.
33:06Hang on, where's your flap?
33:07Oh!
33:08Where's your flap at?
33:09You might have to slap it on that side,
33:10cos she's missing a flap.
33:12It's all right.
33:13Do we just glue your flap?
33:14If you just put glue on...
33:15Oh, yes.
33:16..or that it will still connect out.
33:17Yeah, of course.
33:18That was me being sick.
33:19No, it wasn't.
33:20She has cut her flap off, but it still looks good.
33:23Oh, Christ!
33:24I know!
33:25Oh!
33:26Oh!
33:27Oh!
33:28I mean...
33:29That's gorgeous.
33:30Right.
33:31Please, this needs to be illuminated.
33:33I've got some lights.
33:34Oh, what?
33:35I feel like this needs to be illuminated.
33:37It really does.
33:38It really does.
33:39It really does.
33:40What do we do?
33:41Just pop it?
33:42A bit of glue gun.
33:43Oh, hey.
33:44Me guests are not going to know what's...
33:46Literally.
33:48Literally.
33:49Are you ready for the moment of truth?
33:51Yes.
33:52The great Christmas lights switch on.
33:53So excited.
33:54Get on to the table for the lights.
33:55Are we ready?
33:56Yay!
34:01I think our little street looks amazing.
34:04And it will look fabulous under the Christmas tree.
34:06But I'm not done crafting with you yet, OK?
34:09I've got one last amazing make for you.
34:12We're going to make a lovely present for someone.
34:28We all love a cup of hot chocolate in the winter.
34:31But I've got a way to make it a bit more Christmassy.
34:35Now, I happen to know that Lisa loves a bit of gingerbread,
34:40so I thought we'd make our own gingerbread syrup.
34:43So, we're going to start off by making a basic sugar syrup.
34:46So, it's 300ml of boiling water and 450g of sugar.
34:52Now, you want about one and a half tablespoons of the ground ginger.
34:57And I'm just going to add two cinnamon sticks so that that cinnamon infuses in there as well,
35:02as we bring that all to the boil.
35:04Now, once you see that starting to come to the boil,
35:09we're just going to turn the temperature right down, nice and low,
35:15and let that just simmer away for ten minutes.
35:22Oh, yes, it's had plenty of time to infuse.
35:27And we just want to take out those cinnamon sticks.
35:31Now, once that's had time to cool, we just want to transfer it into a jar.
35:41Well, will you look at that? There's a bit left over.
35:44Well, if ever there was an excuse to give it a try.
35:46Right, I'll get some milkfrost.
35:51And you want to leave plenty of room for the syrup.
35:54Now, I like it quite strong, so I'm going for quite a bit there.
35:58And then we'll make it look all fancy.
36:03So, I'm just adding a couple of little bits of crushed gingerbread mine.
36:08And then our little fella just goes in there.
36:11He is cute as...
36:13Oh, yeah. It's like Christmas in a cup.
36:19Did it. Oh! Look at this!
36:21I thought you might be ready for a little pick-me-up.
36:23Oh, always.
36:24Yes. Right.
36:25I've made us all... Here's yours, lovely.
36:27I've made a gingerbread syrup.
36:29Oh!
36:30So, you could have it in latte, you could have it in hot chocolate.
36:33I've just put us them in a hot milk.
36:35Oh, I have a little gingerbread tipple on it.
36:37Little gingerbread mine. Thank you very much, thank you.
36:39Thank you. Lovely.
36:41I'm dying to know what you think.
36:46Oh, it just tastes like Christmas.
36:48Yes, vegan milk for you. Gorgeous.
36:50That's really nice. That is nice, that.
36:52Yeah. That is nice. Gorgeous.
36:54There's our gingerbread hot milk just to keep us going.
36:58On to the last craft.
36:59Oh!
37:00I'm excited. Love it.
37:01Well, I'm super excited.
37:02I think you're going to absolutely love it.
37:05Now, I've got us some glass plates,
37:07so anything that's clear glass,
37:09we're going to be able to do this technique with.
37:11Now, do you know what decoupage is?
37:13I think I do. Go on.
37:14Because I've actually watched you do this.
37:16Oh!
37:17And I have give it a go.
37:18It's like where you transfer whatever pattern
37:20is on, like, a napkin onto stuff.
37:23Yes.
37:24You've done your own.
37:25Oh, it knows.
37:27It knows.
37:28Right, we're going to start with the gold leafing first.
37:30OK?
37:31Well, I'm saying gold.
37:32There's gold, there's silver.
37:34I suppose it depends on what napkin you're going to use.
37:37Oh, yeah.
37:38So I'm going to do... I think I'm going to use this one.
37:40I love a poinsettia at Christmas.
37:42I'm going to go gold and silver, please,
37:43because, yeah, I need to calm it down a bit after the house.
37:46Yep.
37:47I'll go this, then.
37:48I'll go, like, at the little buttercream.
37:50Oh, nice!
37:51Right, so you see, what we're going to be doing
37:53is we're going to be having the plate...
37:55It's going to have the pattern on by the end of it.
37:57Nice.
37:58But what we're going to do, first of all,
38:00is put a little bit of that gold or silver leafing
38:03around the outside.
38:05OK?
38:06In your little paint pallets,
38:08I've popped in a little bit...
38:10Now, this is gilding glue.
38:11Mm-hm.
38:12You don't need much.
38:13So when it's blue, it's no good.
38:16You can't add the flakes.
38:18You need to wait for it to go clear.
38:26Anybody feeling ready for the gilding flakes going on?
38:29There is no right or wrong way.
38:31And just tap, yeah?
38:32Just tap.
38:33So, look at this, you see.
38:34You just put it on.
38:35And then you can use, like, a little sponge
38:38to dab it on like this.
38:39Oh!
38:40Oh!
38:41I'm scared.
38:42See, this is when I go mayhem.
38:44Oh, yeah, I've already gone mental.
38:45It's all sparkly.
38:46Yeah, that's good.
38:49So, put plenty on.
38:51Don't be sparing with it,
38:52because then you can always tap the excess off.
38:54I've gilded me arm.
38:55She's gilded the arm.
38:56There we go.
38:57Oh, this is so nice, isn't it?
38:58Yeah.
38:59Once you start with the gilding clay.
39:00That's it now, innit?
39:01This is my life.
39:02There'll be no stopping you.
39:03Is this expensive?
39:04No.
39:05No.
39:06A couple of quid for a pot.
39:07Oh, is it?
39:08Oh, yes.
39:09Oh, my old house is getting gilded.
39:10My old house.
39:11From the eye to the bottom.
39:12Gilded.
39:13I love a bit of gilding.
39:14I'd never knew it.
39:15I'd never knew it.
39:16I'd never knew it.
39:17I'd never knew it.
39:18I'd never knew it.
39:19I'd never knew it.
39:20I'd never knew it.
39:21It's expensive.
39:22I love a bit of gilding.
39:23I'd never knew I did love gilding, but I do.
39:26I just want to gold flake everything now.
39:28Honestly, my partner is going to come in
39:30and my child is going to be gilded.
39:36That looks fabulous.
39:39Right.
39:40So, have you got your napkin that you're going to use?
39:42Mine's already round, but it's a bit too big,
39:44so we're going to do the little trick
39:46where we just cut it to the right size for the plate.
39:49So, if you fold it into quarters, lay it across the edge.
39:54Now, do cut it a little bit bigger than what you need,
39:56but can you see, you're just going to cut it,
39:59so when we open it out,
40:01it's still going to be too big for the plate,
40:03but not a square.
40:07Ah, OK.
40:08Yeah?
40:09Thank you very much.
40:10Very clever.
40:11Is that right?
40:12So, now I...
40:13That is it.
40:14So, make sure it's right in the middle, though.
40:16OK.
40:17Open it and just double-check.
40:18Oh, no, I've got...
40:22I've got two pieces.
40:24You, you...
40:25I did exactly what you said.
40:26What happened?
40:27I think you probably folded it like this.
40:29Oh.
40:30Right, so we've got all the folded bits in the middle.
40:32I'll trim it for you round here.
40:37Success!
40:38Yay!
40:39Yay!
40:40That's right.
40:41There we go.
40:42Now, actually, you know when you get tissues
40:43and they two-ply or three-ply or whatever,
40:45that's how many layers of tissue there are,
40:47and what you want to do is peel away the back layers,
40:51or the back layer might only be one layer,
40:53so that you're left with only just that one layer
40:56that's got the print on.
40:59There we go, then.
41:00Ah, there you go.
41:01You've had a couple of layers.
41:02Yeah.
41:03What we're going to do is I've watered down some PVA
41:05to make it a little bit runnier.
41:07We're going to put a layer all over the background,
41:09but then I want you to be really careful
41:11because when we put this down,
41:13you don't want your PVA to be too thick
41:16because if it soaks into here,
41:17it will start damaging our napkin.
41:22So, you say you've tried this before, Scarlett?
41:24Yeah, on candles.
41:25I think I put too much glue on
41:27because the napkin just sort of stuck to the candle.
41:29So, you need to watch this amazing craft show
41:32that's coming out at Christmas.
41:34Yeah.
41:35Where I teach people how to do stuff.
41:36Oh, is that the one we're on now?
41:39Is that the one we're on now?
41:41I'd watch that.
41:42Do you have sounds a bit?
41:44I genuinely just like,
41:45I don't know how I'd watch that.
41:47You go back and watch last week?
41:49Yeah.
41:50I'll tell you how to melt it into the surface.
41:51Oh, well, thank you.
41:52Right?
41:53And then once it's gone,
41:54then it should go and stick down.
41:59Yeah, I can feel that starting to stick now.
42:01That's it.
42:05Right.
42:06It's a bit creased.
42:07It's all right.
42:08No, you won't see it.
42:09Oh, will you not?
42:10OK, OK, OK, I'm staying.
42:11So, now what I want you to do
42:13is get a bit more of your PVA glue.
42:15Be really careful not to damage your napkin.
42:26Just a nice thick layer on top
42:28so that it'll all seep in.
42:30Can you see?
42:31I'm just giving mine a little,
42:32so it presses it in really nicely.
42:34Now, once that's a bit touch dry,
42:41you should be able to see your pattern on there.
42:44Yes, looking good.
42:46Yeah.
42:47But it's a bit translucent, isn't it?
42:49Yeah.
42:50At the end of the day,
42:51it's only one layer of napkin.
42:52So what you're going to do is
42:53we're going to paint over the background.
42:55So I've got just a little bit of acrylic paint.
42:58OK, so give yourself a squirt and pass it on.
43:04I'm going to go home
43:05and I'm going to gild some plates.
43:07The fact that I've learnt something
43:08and I want to pass it on as well
43:09and certainly show my family,
43:11they're going to be really impressed.
43:13And remember, we're on top of a napkin,
43:17so just go gentle.
43:19But what this will do is
43:20it'll give it an opaque background.
43:23I won't eat my tea on this every night.
43:25Yeah.
43:26But it's something we're proud that we've made, yeah.
43:32Now, it might not look quite dry yet,
43:34but, you know, if we leave it a couple of hours,
43:36it'll be perfectly dry.
43:37But it'll be enough to see the effect.
43:39I can promise that.
43:41This is really cool.
43:43Oh, yes!
43:45See what a difference that's made with the paint behind it.
43:48Yeah.
43:49That looks absolutely incredible.
43:52Oh, that's so good.
43:53Oh, I'm thrilled with those.
43:54I'm buzzing.
43:55Oh, we've been amazing.
43:56We have. I'm proud of them.
43:57They will be perfect for me serving up my little canapes
44:00and my pine cones.
44:02I thought we should raise a glass
44:05to the crafting divas.
44:07Yay!
44:08That we are.
44:09I am supposed to choose a winner at this stage.
44:13Overall, I think, Scarlett,
44:16you've been on quite the journey today.
44:18And so you are definitely going to be my crafty queen for the day.
44:22Oh, thank you.
44:24Honestly, what a wonderful day.
44:26I mean, I'm literally covered in paint,
44:29in gilded stuff, in gold flake.
44:31I feel so Christmassy.
44:32I feel like I'm going to be walking away from here just,
44:35yeah, singing Michael Buble.
44:39But, Lisa, that tree topper is something else.
44:42That tree topper is going to take pride of place in our tree in here.
44:47And it's Lisa's tree topper that's won the day.
44:50Cheers!
44:51Well done!
44:52Today has been so beautiful.
44:54It was literally like this.
44:55It was like a wave of, like, we were learning
44:58and then things went a bit wrong, but they went wrong
45:00and then we had such a laugh.
45:01It was great.
45:02And that was the best thing about it, having such a laugh.
45:04And yet, at the end of it, we've made some really lovely things.
45:08To Christmas.
45:09Yay!
45:10To Christmas.
45:11Happy Christmas.
45:12Happy Christmas.
45:21Next time.
45:22It's like magic.
45:23That's how you get a perfect four.
45:25Do mine.
45:26Do mine.
45:27Two more celebrity crafters help with the final decorations.
45:32The double bow.
45:33I mean, that's blown me out of the water right there.
45:36And it's Christmas party time.
45:39Merry Christmas.
45:40Merry Christmas.
45:41Merry Christmas.
45:42Merry Christmas.
45:43Merry Christmas.
45:45Merry Christmas.
45:47Merry Christmas.
45:49Merry Christmas.
46:10Merry Christmas.
