00:00This whole time, everything we have ever assumed about the Upside Down has been dead wrong.
00:17Episode 5, titled Shock Jock, kicks off right after it's revealed that Will has wizard powers,
00:22although he can only access them when he's connected to the hive mind.
00:25His mom, Joyce, still doesn't get it and asks him what he did.
00:28Mike shows up saying that Will is a wizard, a real one.
00:31Will tells them that Vecna has the kids.
00:33Derek, Mary, and Glenn, Mike says, but Will responds that it's not just them.
00:36The others didn't make it out of Hawkins.
00:38He could have helped them fight if he'd acted sooner, but he got there too late, and now Vecna has all of them.
00:43The 12, he regrets failing.
00:44At that moment, helicopters arrive, and Mike tells Will and Joyce to hide in the tunnel.
00:48Meanwhile, we see the kids, including Derek, positioned on the wall of Will's vision.
00:52Derek wakes up in a field with the rest of the kids.
00:55Mr. What tells them that they're memories of what happened, of how they got there.
00:58Are blurry, confusing.
00:59The monsters tried to capture them, but he saved them just in time and brought them to the house.
01:03He tells them that this place is his home, and now it's theirs too.
01:06As long as they don't go into the forest where the monsters live, there they'll be safe.
01:11While that is happening, Max stays outside the house, hiding and keeping a close eye on everything Mr. What is doing.
01:17Inside, Mr. What tells the children that a dark evil is spreading not just through Hawkins, but across the entire world, and warns that it will soon be too late to stop it.
01:25He claims to know the way, having traveled to other worlds beyond their own dimension.
01:30There, he discovered a world much like theirs, only better and entirely free of monsters.
01:34He tells them they are special, with powers lying dormant in their minds.
01:37If they work together, they can awaken these abilities and channel the energy, so that, when the light reaches the darkness, it will be cast out.
01:44Only then will they truly be heroes.
01:46Holly raises her hand to ask if Mr. What will leave again to bring back more special children, to which he replies that he will never leave them again.
01:53He tells them to eat, play, and rest, because everything begins tomorrow.
01:56The children applaud, yet Holly is seen with a deeply troubled look on her face.
02:00Meanwhile, Dr. K enters the laboratory where they are holding Kaylee, but it is nothing more than a mirage.
02:05In reality, Kaylee is already gone, a fact that Dr. K realizes shortly after discovering the empty room.
02:12Kali has managed to escape alongside Eleven and Hopper.
02:15Exhausted, Kali tells Eleven that she could no longer maintain the illusion.
02:18However, Hopper reassures her, stating they are now far enough away that they won't be caught.
02:23Meanwhile, in the tunnels, Mike, Joyce, and Will find Lucas injured following an attack by the Demogorgon.
02:29As Joyce begins to tend to his wound, she brings him up to speed on everything Will has managed to accomplish.
02:34After hearing the details, Lucas remarks that it sounds like they now have a second Eleven on their side.
02:39Will quickly corrects him, explaining that he doesn't actually have powers of his own.
02:43Instead, he simply absorbs them from Vecna.
02:45To do this, he clarifies that he must be in close proximity to the Hive Mind.
02:49He further warns that neither Vecna nor the Demogorgons will return, as they have already come for the children and secured their vessels.
02:56Lucas then reminds them of November 6th, the day it all started, noting that it will also be the day of the end.
03:01Joyce asks Will if there is any way to tap into the Hive Mind to access those powers again, although Will insists it is impossible without being near it.
03:08Joyce suggests he use those abilities against Vecna, turning the villain's own sword against him.
03:13She acknowledges that what he did that night was extraordinary, and that Vecna chose him because he underestimated him.
03:18A mistake she admits she made herself, but promises never to make again.
03:23Eleven confronts Hopper, telling him she knows the truth.
03:26His plan was always to die the moment he set off the bomb.
03:28Meanwhile, Kaylee focuses all her energy on locating the other kids.
03:32At the same time, Dustin, Steve, Jonathan, and Nancy finally arrive at the Hawkins lab.
03:36The group heads inside to scout the facility while Dustin explains his theory.
03:40The wall is actually a shield Vecna created with dark magic to prevent them from reaching Holly and the children.
03:46However, if his calculations are correct, the generator powering that shield is located right inside this lab.
03:51Jonathan adds that if they manage to destroy this dark magic deflector shield,
03:55they can bring down the wall, defeat Vecna, and save Holly.
03:58With time running out, they decide to split up and find the generator immediately.
04:01Over at Henry's house, while the other children run and play without a care in the world,
04:05Holly manages to sneak away to meet up with Max.
04:07Max asks her what she's doing there, noting that this wasn't part of the plan.
04:11Holly knows, but she tells Max that Henry gave a disturbing speech about terrible things.
04:15She finally understands why he kidnapped them.
04:17He intends to use them to pull another world into Earth.
04:19Even though Henry claims he is doing all of this to save her, Holly is absolutely certain that his real goal is to destroy her.
04:26Whatever his true plan may be, he's going to execute it tomorrow, so they need to get out of Camazotz as fast as possible.
04:32Suddenly, both of them hear a branch snap and discover Derek hiding nearby.
04:36Derek mentions that he knows Vecna, and then tells them about his history working with Mike, Will, and the rest of the gang back in Hawkins.
04:41He explains that he saw the look on Holly's face while Mr. What was speaking, and knew right away she realized he was lying.
04:47That's why he followed her, and now he's offering to go with them.
04:50Holly tells him he can't join them on their journey, but he can certainly help them escape.
04:54She clarifies that for the plan to actually work, she needs Derek, the jerk.
04:57Meanwhile, Joyce lays out the plan to defeat Vecna to Robin, Erica, Murray, Will, Lucas, and Mike.
05:03The goal is straightforward.
05:04Get Will close to the hive mind, and once he's there, have him connect to it.
05:07However, this time he won't go through a Demogorgon.
05:09Instead, he will go directly after Vecna himself.
05:12Will is supposed to knock him out with a single blow, and then finish him off for good.
05:16By doing this, they will destroy his army and finally put an end to this entire nightmare.
05:20After hearing her out, the group agrees that it's a solid idea.
05:24Joyce adds that they could build another telemetry device to locate Eleven, Jonathan, and the others,
05:29hoping they have already found Vecna's position.
05:31However, Mike points out with concern that Dustin was the one who built the original tracker,
05:35and that he has absolutely no clue how to make a new one.
05:37Facing this dilemma, Erica suggests they should turn to Mr. Clark for help in building the tracking device,
05:42while Lucas proposes a different alternative, using electricity from the radio tower to try and reanimate one of the dead Demogorgons.
05:48This would allow Will to use it as a bridge to reconnect with the hive mind.
05:52Joyce, determined to succeed, suggests they try both options at once.
05:55Meanwhile, Steve and Dustin scout the laboratory and end up in the Rainbow Room,
05:58where the tension rises significantly as they move inside and each takes a different path.
06:03The atmosphere is just as strained between Jonathan and Nancy elsewhere in the facility.
06:07Jonathan finally works up the nerve to ask if he has done something to make her angry,
06:10but she simply ignores him. He insists that they need to work as a team,
06:14but Nancy coldly responds that they aren't one and asks if he really intends to settle their relationship issues right there.
06:19Jonathan begs her to be honest with him, but she fires the question back, asking if he has ever been honest with her.
06:25At first, Jonathan hesitates, but he eventually says yes.
06:28Nancy picks up on that split-second hesitation and, visibly annoyed, storms off in a rage.
06:33Meanwhile, Jonathan takes out the cassette tape and pauses to reflect,
06:36until he notices a door with a completely melted knob.
06:39He tries to open it, but the handle snaps off in his hand.
06:42Refusing to give up, he tries to kick the door down using all his weight.
06:45Nancy reunites with him just as he finally manages to force the door open,
06:49revealing a staircase leading upward with a path that has been partially melted away.
06:52Elsewhere, Hopper gets on the walkie-talkie, announcing they are at the church,
06:55and demanding to know where the hell everyone else is.
06:58He calls out for Jonathan and Nancy, but gets no response.
07:00Meanwhile, Kaylee tells Eleven that it must have been quite a surprise for Hopper that she made it there,
07:05and found her instead of Henry.
07:06Eleven apologizes for not finding her sooner.
07:09She admits she was terrified to do it, and asks her what she knew about Henry.
07:12Kaylee replies that she knew everything about him, except for the fact that he was still alive.
07:16Eleven asks for her help to find him so they can finally be free,
07:19but Kaylee tells her she once had that same dream.
07:22She thought she could end it all and heal her wounds, but they found her and killed all her friends.
07:27Kaylee didn't understand why she was still alive.
07:29She thought that perhaps the doctor was being paid to torture her, but it wasn't about revenge.
07:33Dr. Kay needed her. She needed her blood, and that need was infinite.
07:36Kaylee even began to see her as a sort of vampire.
07:39She had no idea how long she had been kept there, because they kept her constantly drugged.
07:42The only thing she knew for certain was that she desperately wanted to escape.
07:46At Henry's house, Derek heads outside and begins walking deliberately toward the woods,
07:49making sure the other children see him.
07:51Just as he expected, the kids run off to alert Mr. What.
07:54Max and Holly use him as bait while they try to find an exit.
07:57Max explains that once they locate Holly's first memory of meeting Mr. What,
08:00they can follow that trail back to the real world and finally escape Kamazots.
08:04Meanwhile, Robin and Will are busy setting up the antenna, and she thanks him for saving her life.
08:09Will responds that in truth, she should thank him for taking the time to talk to him about his life.
08:13As they chat, Robin reveals that after the situation with Tammy,
08:16she finally opened up and told someone else the truth.
08:19Steve.
08:20Will questions her about it, and Robin jokes, saying that some evil Russians had just injected them with truth serum,
08:26and that she should imagine it as courage in a syringe.
08:29However, she adds that with or without the serum,
08:32saying it out loud to someone who wouldn't judge her was liberating,
08:35and that if she hadn't told Steve, she might never have had the courage to talk about it with Vicky.
08:39Will jokingly asks if she still has any of that truth serum left.
08:43Just as the pumpkin they were lighting suddenly bursts into flames,
08:46Max and Holly begin to explore Holly's memories to follow a path they hope will lead them out of Henry's world.
08:51At the Rainbow Lab, Dustin returns, and Steve manages to push his buttons by telling him he's wrong.
08:55Dustin accuses him of gloating and calls him selfish.
08:58Steve responds that true selfishness would be abandoning Hopper and Eleven.
09:02They argue heatedly over Eddie, and Steve points out that he's the one still standing.
09:06He notes that he warned them not to be heroes, that Eddie made a reckless move, and that's why he got killed.
09:10Dustin runs at Steve and starts hitting him.
09:12He lands a punch on his face, and Steve walks away saying it's over, leaving Dustin crying on the floor.
09:18As Dustin tries to pull himself together, he notices a door opening behind him,
09:22and decides to go in and explore.
09:23Inside the room, he discovers a bulletin board, and realizes that the map displayed there matches exactly the one he had drawn himself.
09:30Meanwhile, Nancy and Jonathan continue exploring the place.
09:33They wonder if a nuclear explosion could have caused the building to melt,
09:36but they notice that the air is clean, with no trace of spores.
09:39They conclude that whatever happened, there is clearly dark magic.
09:42Kaylee remembers that on one occasion, she almost escaped the lab,
09:45and that during that attempt, she found the answer to why she had been kidnapped.
09:48She saw a pregnant woman lying on a table, receiving an infusion with Kaylee's blood.
09:53The woman regains consciousness and calls for help,
09:55while Kaylee moves from one room to another, discovering more pregnant women who had also received her blood.
10:00Finally, she is attacked by the guards, and taken back to her cell.
10:03Kaylee explains that the pregnant women and the government's secret program should remind Eleven of something,
10:07and she responds that it reminds her of her mother.
10:10Then Kaylee reveals that in reality, the one who gave powers to both her and Eleven was Henry.
10:15Now, Dr. Kay is trying to restart that program, but her blood no longer works, at least not like Henry's.
10:20The children of their father were nothing more than pale imitations of him,
10:24and only one of them turned out to be truly the same.
10:26That's why the doctor is so desperate to find Eleven.
10:29She wants to create more children like Henry.
10:31Kaylee concludes that there are no happy endings for them,
10:34while showing Eleven a vision of herself strapped down in the labs just as Hopper enters the scene.
10:38Then we see Derek in the woods, where he is found by Henry.
10:41Noticing the map Derek is carrying, he asks who gave it to him,
10:44and he answers that it was his mother.
10:46Henry warns him that if he lies again, he will go after his father, or his mother, or his sister.
10:51Meanwhile, Holly and Max slowly manage to make their way through Holly's memories,
10:54following the trail that could lead them out of Camazots.
10:57Mike, Lucas, and Joyce manage to get the body of a Demogorgon,
11:00and move it to the radio station, where they connect it directly to the antenna.
11:04Then they increase the voltage to half, electrifying it just enough for it to barely come back to life.
11:09At that moment, Will, who was near the Demogorgon, manages to access the hive mind.
11:13Everything seems to work for a brief moment,
11:15and Will manages to locate Vecna, who was hunting Max and Holly while they were trying to escape from Camazots.
11:20Meanwhile, Holly and Max reach the night when Holly was kidnapped from her home by the Demogorgon.
11:24They prepare to cross the door into the Red Realm,
11:26where Max had previously seen the portal leading to the Dreamworld,
11:29but Henry suddenly appears.
11:30We see Henry enter the room, transforming from the Lord,
11:33one into Henry, and finally into Vecna.
11:35Vecna grabs Max by the neck and begins to strangle her forcefully.
11:39Holly screams desperately for him to stop while we see Max's heart slow in the real world,
11:43almost reaching the point of death.
11:45However, her heart rate suddenly spikes when Will breaks Vecna's leg,
11:48causing Max to fall to the floor.
11:49Will speaks through Vecna and yells at Max to run.
11:52This distraction gives Holly and Max enough time to escape.
11:56Henry focuses his attention on Will and kicks him out of his mind.
11:59Will lets out a gut-wrenching scream in the real world before collapsing.
12:02Mike, Lucas, Robin, and Joyce notice the danger,
12:05and help him by cranking the radio voltage to the maximum,
12:07frying the Demogorgon and cutting Will's connection to the hive mind.
12:11At the same time, Jonathan and Nancy reach the lab's rooftop.
12:14Nancy notices that her flashlight casts a strange bright reflection,
12:17hinting at an invisible presence.
12:19Jonathan breaks a tube and tosses it into the air,
12:21revealing a sphere charged with electricity that he identifies as dark magic.

12:27Through the walkie-talkie, Jonathan tells him they found the deflector shield.

12:53Meanwhile, Nancy has already fired her gun, noticing no reaction.
12:57So Jonathan asks if she missed.
12:58At that moment, they notice a large mass of energy beginning to accumulate in a huge sphere
13:02that crackles with electricity, so they both decide to move away.
13:06However, at that instant, the sphere explodes, knocking them unconscious.
13:09Shock waves ripple through the city and around the world,
13:12even reaching the wall where Hopper, Eleven, and their friend watch in disbelief
13:15as the waves ripple across it.
13:17At 5 a.m., Erica and Murray break into their teacher's house.
13:20The girl explains that Henderson is in serious trouble and needs a telemetry tracker.
13:24He initially seems reluctant to the idea, finding it inappropriate,
13:27and tries to shut the door on her.
13:28But Erica stops him, saying that Dustin's life hangs in the balance,
13:31and that this is the only way they can help him, so he agrees.
13:35Meanwhile, Steve approaches Dustin, who is lying on the ground,
13:38having been struck by the sphere's shockwaves.
13:40He asks if the generator caused it, but Anderson replies that he was wrong
13:43and made a terrible mistake.
13:45He explains that when he left, he found a journal, Brenner's Journal,
13:48which explained that the key to destroying the wall was in that lab,

13:56He adds that theoretical physicists called it exotic matter,
13:59and that it's a single energy source that holds this world together.
14:02He believes Nancy shot him.
14:04Elsewhere, Jonathan and Nancy are lying unconscious on the ground,
14:08about to be absorbed by the sphere's matter.
14:10Steve asks Dustin why it's wrong if they wanted to cross the wall.
14:13Anderson replies that Vecna didn't build the wall,
14:15so she isn't on the other side.
14:16Neither Holly nor the other kids are there, and there's no one there.
14:20Only death.
14:20A car that had crashed into the wall in the presence of Hopper, Eleven, and Kaylee,
14:24stops before being consumed by it, so the three of them look at it intently.
14:28But at that moment, the wall opens and absorbs everything in its path.
14:32Trees, gravestones, earth, mother, and other elements are consumed
14:35by the powerful pull of the Great Barrier.
14:37Sensing their danger, Hopper tells Eleven they must leave.
14:40Dustin continues explaining to Steve that everything they had been thinking

14:45Eleven notices a portal they can exit through,

15:29Holly yells that she doesn't believe a word he says,
15:31telling him she's seen who he really is and calling him a disgusting monster.
15:35Vecna tells her that if she doesn't come with him right now
15:37and join the other children, he'll have no choice but to hurt Max and might even kill her.
15:41Max interrupts, asking why he won't,
15:43saying he's only afraid of a cave and that he's a coward.
15:45The man replies that there are other ways to reach her now
15:48and tells Holly that when her friend starts to suffer,
15:50she'll have to decide whether to come back with him or watch her new friend die,
15:53walking away from the cave entrance.
15:55Will finds himself tied up in Vecna's position,
15:57so when he wakes up, he realizes he has no way out.
16:00He watches as Vecna slowly approaches,
16:02asking if he remembers this place and if it doesn't bring back memories.
16:05William tells her that Max and Holly escaped and asks if his legs slowed him down.
16:09Vecna replies that he does think he's very clever,
16:11but he should remember that he did everything since he was the one who invited him in.
16:15Reminding him that William was her vessel, her spy, and her architect.
16:19Vecna tells him that the tunnels somehow formed themselves
16:22and it was he who created them every single night while he slept.
16:26Vecna tells him that he has great power within him,
16:28but he shouldn't be mistaken as all of these powers are his
16:31and today he is stronger than ever before.
16:34He concludes by telling him that the time has come
16:36and it's time for his vessels to take them home.
16:39Not now though, since Max has one of his vessels.
16:41Vecna tells him that there are ways to lure a fox from its den and he will help him.
16:46He will have to act as a spy one last time and thanks to him, he will succeed in his plan.
16:50William tries to resist, but Vecna places one of his hands near,
16:53telling him that the more he resists, the more pain he will feel,
16:56causing the boy to bleed from his eyes.
16:58Holly and Max are discussing why Vecna won't go into that cave.
17:01Holly tells Max that she spent two years there doing nothing,
17:04so she should at least have a theory.
17:05Max explains that the Camazot's prison is part of Vecna's memories,
17:08including the cave itself, so it might be a place she's afraid to confront,
17:12as it must be traumatic.
17:14Holly tells them that this memory might also help them escape,
17:17just as the traumatic memories of the prison freed them.
17:20Holly suggests leaving the cave through a giant hole that leads only to a desert of sand.
17:24Max tells her they should stay there, since Eleven will come to save them,
17:28but Holly says she doesn't believe Vecna lied when she said there are other ways to reach her,
17:31so they must find another way out of there, leaving the cave.
17:34Eleven and Hopper return to the house where Will's mother and Mike are.
17:37Eleven introduces Kaylee to her friend, who is her sister,
17:40mentioning that it's a long story.
17:41Hopper asks about the rest of the team, and they all go inside.

18:12High up in the building, Steve asks Nancy if she's receiving the signal,
18:15but at that moment they realize they're directly beneath the energy sphere.
18:18Jonathan wakes up to find everything around him being absorbed by a white liquid.
18:22He wakes Nancy so they can escape, and they try to force open a door, but they can't.
18:26Meanwhile, Eleven is trying to find Will.
18:28Kaylee watches her closely.
18:30Hopper is with Will, tending to his wounds.
18:32Hopper asks if Nancy left a note or anything at the church.
18:35Mike tells him she left absolutely nothing.
18:37Hopper replies that means they're either a bunch of inconsiderate fools,
18:40or they were captured by the military.
18:42Mike says that for his peace of mind, he leans more towards the inconsiderate fool theory.
18:47Kaylee bursts in, saying that Eleven is suffering and she hasn't found anything.
18:50Hopper asks if she's suddenly an expert on Eleven, saying she only met her a day and a half ago.
18:55Kaylee defends herself, arguing that she knew Eleven before him, since they were raised together.
18:59Kaylee approaches Hopper with determination and asks if he really wants to know why she's still there,
19:03because she doesn't want any of this to happen again.
19:06At that moment, the lights start to fail, and they run to check on their friend's safety.
19:10Lucas goes to the hospital and enters Max's room to try to wake her up.
19:13Back in the desert, Holly notices a distinctive mark on her telescope's lid.
19:17Upon closer inspection, she realizes it's similar to the giant hole they emerged from the cave through.
19:21She immediately returns to where they were.
19:23Max asks her where she's going, and Holly tells him she has an idea and will tell him in a second.
19:27Back at the cave, Holly positions herself precisely where the telescope lid fits the cave entrance,
19:32nearly falling into a hidden hole beneath the floor.
19:34Max helps her out, noting the depth of the crevice.
19:37Meanwhile, Jonathan and Nancy are about to be consumed by the liquid.
19:40In a moment of confession, he declares his love, gives her the ring, and asks Nancy to marry him.
19:44She accepts, and they embrace, knowing their end is near.
19:47However, they notice that the ring, upon falling to the ground, is not absorbed.
19:51They immediately realize that the liquid has hardened and their lives are no longer in danger.
19:55Eleven prepares to use her powers by entering a makeshift bathtub filled with water to optimize the search for her friend, Will.
20:02And in doing so, she finds his exact location.
20:04She then frees Will from Vecna's vine.
20:06Max and Holly continue through the cave, where they notice a trail of blood.
20:09Since it's just a memory, Max tells Holly that nothing here can hurt them.
20:13A little further on, they encounter a man who points a gun at them,
20:15but what they're actually witnessing is a flashback to when Henry was a child.
20:19The frightened boy raises his hands and says he's trying to help,
20:21but the man shoots him in the hand, leaving Henry with no choice.
20:25He lunges at the man, disarms him, and hits him with a rock he finds nearby,
20:29leaving him covered in blood and taking his briefcase.
20:31Seeing this, Max pulls Holly away and tells her that everything is alright and that it's just a memory.
20:36The girl still has many questions in her mind, such as why the man shot him,
20:39and if that was the reason Henry turned evil.
20:42Max replies that he doesn't know, but that he's going to find a way out.
20:46While removing some rocks from the path, he notices a red light
