Cities Mobilize Additional Security for New Year's Eve Celebrations

With hundreds of thousands of people expected to be out for New Year's Eve celebrations, authorities around Taiwan are taking additional measures to help with security.

00:08Officers are showing they're ready for any emergency that might happen on New Year's Eve.

00:13Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Ximai says his government is not taking any chances on the night of the countdown.

00:30Thousands of police are being mobilized across the country to make sure people are safe as they ring in the new year.

00:39This comes after a knife attack in Taipei which left four people dead and 11 injured two weeks ago.

00:44The killings have put the public on edge.

01:08while close to 1,000 first responders will be on duty in Taichung in central Taiwan.
