00:06Madeline is very special to me yeah so no I'm sure you will that's not the no
00:17yeah oh right okay okay okay right I'll I'll leave her at the airport with the keys on the
00:26front wheel right second floor right by the left yeah but listen please promise me you'll be extra
00:34careful with her okay right no you're welcome
00:39must be going soft
00:48thanks for booking extra room on the plane
00:54no I've got to look after your legs Jean d'Anne Richard would never forgive me
00:58so this is all for free a free trip to Malta I can't get my head around it well I've got to do
01:03a bit of work I've got to validate something yeah but what can be so important to fly us all the way
01:07to Malta well there's this historical fella called Jean de Valette and he won the siege of Malta against
01:13the Ottomans in 1565 now it was a very very bloody hey no need to swear is there no it was a very very
01:23bloody battle but a massive victory for the Christians who again battered all over Europe
01:29by the Ottomans at the time so much so that all the European kings and queens poured loads of
01:34money into Malta to rebuild it it's very kind of them well more strategic than kind
01:40anyway this couple were going to visit Bobby and Margot well they reckon they've got the original blueprint of
01:46Valetta which is the capital of Malta drawn up by Jean de Valette himself and they want me to validate it
01:53so so what's so important about these bits of paper
01:56Jean de Valette died not long after the siege and the rebuilding of Valetta was taken up by a fella called
02:01Grand Master Pierre Dumonts right so so no one knows what Valetta should have looked like through the eyes of this
02:07Jean de Valetta fella exactly I mean if they're real this is a huge piece in the jigsaw of European history
02:14history wow but I'm not holding me breath why well I just can't see it myself something this
02:26important would have turned up by now and the woman is a bit um how do I put it eccentric oh but it's
02:34reality isn't it well not only that our first holiday together yeah
02:41I hope this Mrs. White lives up to your expectations
03:11wasn't she bringing her from France Bobby I know it's I just know well let's hope so
03:18we'll find out once and for more
03:20you've got to be really gentle with that coach if you push it too hard it will just stay down
03:32right please be careful with her Trevor
03:34he lent Trevor your precious car and that's generous well he was flying in Ciglo anyway and I just thought
03:41Madeline sat there in the airport seemed like the right thing to do didn't it although I'm not really
03:45sure about that now so this is level minus one apparently they're in a yellow sports car she said we
03:53can't miss them
03:54oh my lord what on earth my wife please help it's all right man she's still with us no no don't don't
04:18move you stay there okay it's gonna be okay don't need to call an ambulance

06:16maybe they are real after all
06:18oh
06:19I wish I could have had a look at them
06:21don't suppose what's gonna happen now
06:23he's got a look of Sigmund Freud hasn't he
06:25yeah yeah he is
06:27well he was a very colourful character as well
06:29he was in prison by his own army for beating up a fellow soldier and then he was captured and thrown on an enemy pirate ship and while he was literally chained to an oar he decided to learn Arabic from his fellow slaves to outwit the Ottomans
06:45as you do
06:47oh and he miraculously had two children even though he had sworn a devout Catholic vow of celibacy
06:53now that is clever

11:26what with all the new equipment that we would require
11:30we'd make that back in days
11:31yes
11:32and the French would be fussy about their cheese
11:34and if it was going to come back
11:35it would have come back already

13:12big business
13:13what do you mean?
13:14fraudsters stage traffic accidents

13:22oh no
13:23mind you
13:24to be fair
13:25yours sounded more like a clip for cash
13:27how do you know so much?
13:30oh

15:04I hope I'm not keeping you
15:05no
15:06you're not keeping us
15:07um
15:08I just wondered
15:09um
15:10when did you first source the blueprints and what's their provenance?
15:14oh the blueprints are
15:16Bobby
15:17I heard the news
15:18how's Amal go?
15:19oh she is stable
15:21for now
15:22I was just about to explain to Mrs. White here how the blueprints came into our possession
15:28she's the antiques dealer from France so to validate them
15:31hello we're Mr. and Mrs. Artard
15:33hi
15:34I'm Dom
15:35hi
15:36Mrs. White was asking about the provenance
15:39and I think it best you tell her
15:41I'm a little
15:42of course
15:44my great great grandfather was one of the builders of the Victoria Gate here in Valletta in 1884
15:52that's the one we just passed
15:53yeah
15:54the original gate was built by Grand Master Pierre de Montt
15:58he took over from Jean de Vallette when he unexpectedly died in 1568
16:03my great great grandfather he accidentally discovered the blueprints when the British rebuilt the gate in 1884
16:09over 300 years later
16:11we assume the prints were buried under the gate so no one would challenge de Montt's new vision
16:16wow
16:17that is some provenance if it can be proved
16:20my father passed away recently and he left them to us
16:25he never believed they could be genuine but I am sure they are
16:29that's why we needed your help
16:32are you absolutely sure that no one wanted them enough to kill
16:37once they're validated there'll be many collectors who want to get their hands on them
16:41but like Margot we believe they should be returned to the Maltese people
16:47of course
16:49look I'm sorry we've got to get back to our restaurant
16:51oh you've got a restaurant? I've never tried Maltese food
16:54oh well if you get the chance you should try us out
16:57oh thank you that's very kind thank you
17:08keep us updated about Margot won't you?
17:10absolutely thank you
17:12thank you
17:21are you okay?
17:23there's something you should know
17:25Margot's long term colleague Colin, an online dealer
17:29had a huge row with her about the blueprints
17:31why?
17:32he's a jean de valet collector and is desperate to purchase them
17:36but Margot was insistent that they be returned to the Maltese people
17:39why didn't you tell this to the police?
17:41how could I?
17:43Margot and Colin went to school together
17:46he's practically family
17:48maybe I could ask some discreet questions
17:52you would do that?
17:54well back home in France I occasionally help the police with their inquiries
17:58occasionally
18:02thank you again
18:04I'll just get one of these business cards for you
18:09we'll be able to play snap with all these business cards
18:11you'll do
18:15oh thank you and may I just say that discretion is my middle name
18:20thank you
18:21oh
18:27before I forget
18:29I found this near the car
18:32I assume it's Margot's
18:34yes
18:36thank you Mrs. White
18:44and exactly the same thing happened to Jeremy a few weeks ago
18:47you could afford to pay the ransom
18:49I can't
18:50Jeremy and Judith handed money over
18:525,000 euro
18:56it is known as the crash for cash scam
18:59that's what Patrick said
19:01yes this method is very common
19:03insurance fraud is ever evolving
19:05and the lengths fraudsters will go to is shocking
19:08yeah but we know who did it
19:10Jeremy and Judith have the fraudsters address
19:12the thing is Gloria unless you have rock-solid proof
19:15it is very hard to prove
19:17the law is usually always on the side of the pedestrian
19:19so I'll have to pay the money
19:21that is up to you
19:24thanks for your help Karam
19:26come on dad
19:28Gloria do not go taking the law into your own hands
19:31these people can be very dangerous
19:32I can't believe this
19:34you were meant to be on a holiday
19:36may I remind you that all this is free?
19:38no buff
19:40oh come on Don
19:42I can't let a woman get robbed
19:43bashed over the head
19:44nearly killed
19:45and do nothing about it
19:46yeah yeah fair enough
19:47and we're on our own aren't we?
19:49what do you mean?
19:50well nobody knows us here
19:52no?
19:54it means as well as helping the police
19:56I can do this
19:58mmmm
19:59all right when you put it like that
20:00what's the plan?
20:02give me Colleen's business card
20:04thank you
20:06all right
20:09all right

20:39due to renovation costs
20:41it's the Valette Crystal Cross
20:44would you be interested?
20:46ah well
20:48haha
20:50I'll take that away
20:52all right
20:54all right
20:55I'll take that as a yes
20:57um
20:58I'm actually in Valette at the moment on a fundraising trip
21:02I wondered if you would like to meet up
21:04great
21:06what about the er
21:07Café Tazza
21:09just off the Jean de Villette Square
21:11in about an hour?
21:13see you then
21:15bye
21:17wow
21:18was all of that just a massive lie?
21:20well
21:21erm
21:22there is a brilliant museum in London
21:23called the Order of St John
21:25and it does own the Valette Crystal Cross
21:29but I doubt that they'd ever sell it
21:30so yes Dom it was a complete lie
21:32well
21:34I liked your posh telephone voice though
21:36I'm from the Museum of the Order of St John in London
21:39it didn't sound like that
21:40there's nothing to be ashamed of
21:41we're all from the north of England
21:42we all put on a posh telephone voice
21:44come on let's have a look around
21:45we've got an hour
21:53there's nothing we can do
21:55Caron says we need the rock solid proof
21:59in flagrante delicto
22:02pardon?
22:03it's Latin for being caught in the act
22:05how?
22:06top of my head
22:08stage an accident?
22:09film them
22:10film them
22:15how will he know it's us?
22:17because you're literally the only ones here
22:19hmm
22:20mind you
22:21that's how I always feel when I'm with you
22:23shut it
22:26yeah
22:30Museum of St John?
22:31Colin
22:32hi and you must be Jean
22:33yes and this is my partner John
22:35hi
22:37so um
22:39let me start by saying
22:41how um
22:43sorry I am that you're having to sell
22:45such rarities from your beautiful museum
22:47I'm sure it must be very difficult for you
22:50well you sell some you keep some
22:52if I had the opportunity to purchase something that
22:54Jean de Vallette himself touched
22:56I'd never sell it
22:58oh right
22:59oh oh no I
23:00I don't mean any disrespect by that
23:02I'm just I'd say um
23:03I'd say um
23:04I'd feel like I would have conquered the world
23:07and not 10,000
23:08exactly
23:10and the crystal cross was a gift to Jean de Vallette
23:14from Pope Pius V
23:16and the inscription was
23:18the one who conquers 10,000
23:20I guess that's gonna cost me a bit more than 10,000 right?
23:23well
23:25I've heard that there's something else for sale that was touched by Jean de Vallette
23:29the original blueprints to Valletta
23:31where did you hear that?
23:35where did you hear that?
23:37I never reveal my sources
23:39maybe we could do a deal?
23:43maybe we could

23:57nice guy
23:59lovely hair
24:00he definitely knows more than he's laying on
24:02he knows where they are
24:04no socks though
24:05always find that weird
24:10Jean
24:12that's the car that almost knocked me over at the airport
24:13we're on the wrong side of your load
24:16we're on the wrong side of your load
24:19oh my god
24:21call Inspector Ed Hughes
24:28are you sure this is the place?
24:30well I dropped 5,000 euros off here
24:32I think I'd remember it
24:33what exactly are we doing here Gloria?
24:35I don't know but
24:37it's just not fair
24:39is Douglas alright in the van?
24:42yeah, I've left the icon on for him
24:44I think I might need a tinkle
24:46Dad, I told you to go before we left
24:48think I might join you old chap
24:50I've earmarked a bush down there
24:51oh very good
24:52what do you mean you've earmarked a bush?
24:54Gloria, the gentlemen of a certain age
24:56are always on the look out for
24:58suitable refreshment spots
25:00whereas we just have to hold on eh Judith?
25:02fortunately my pilates classes have given me the bladder of a camel
25:08look
25:10there's one of them now
25:12and that's the other one
25:14absolutely nothing wrong with that
25:17I've had an idea
25:19I think it's rather brilliant
25:20let's go back to the pub
25:23I do need that tinkle first
25:25right, come on old chap
25:39gentlemen, gentlemen, please
25:41this is a very difficult job
25:43the only way to get through it
25:45is if we all work together as a team
25:47agreed
25:48and that means you do everything I say
25:52now, I've brought Patrick in on the job
25:56as technically this was all his idea
25:58I'm just saying motorbikes would be quicker
26:00he's right
26:01but you're not insured, Dad
26:03remember, we need to be as inconspicuous as possible
26:07masks
26:09like in that film
26:11where they all wear masks of ex-presidents
26:14point break
26:15is that the film about snooker?
26:18no, I think masks would be a little conspicuous
26:21this is the plan
26:23we will follow and film them covertly
26:25how do we film them covertly?
26:27we use your van
26:29you and me in the front
26:30Jeremy, Patrick and Trevor
26:32in the back
26:34going by their previous shenanigans
26:36it seems that they always choose the same junction
26:38once we locate them
26:41the boys can film them in action
26:43from the back of the van
26:45with a lot of patience
26:47and a little bit of luck
26:49we will be able to catch them
26:52in flagrante delicto
26:54precisely
26:56this might actually work
26:58it's brilliant, darling
26:59you're on fire
27:01no, I'm on a 72 hour detox
27:03I need something to do
27:04right, huddle in
27:06what's your relationship with Margot?
27:09she's a friend
27:11a colleague
27:13we've known each other for years now
27:15Margot and her husband Bobby
27:17were attacked in the airport car park last night
27:20what? oh no
27:22we have an eyewitness
27:24that identified your car in the very same car park
27:27speeding away just after they had been attacked
27:29this is nonsense
27:31I would never harm Margot or Bobby
27:33why were you at the airport last night?
27:35I just came back from Italy
27:36I was there at a trade fair
27:38in fact, Margot was meant to be there with me
27:40but she cancelled last minute
27:42I can't believe she and Bobby were attacked like that
27:45so why did she cancel going with you?
27:47she said she had something very important to tend to
27:50would that be anything to do with this?
27:51some blueprints?
27:52we just found this in your car, sir
27:54how do you explain that?
27:56my car? how?
27:57are you saying you were not interested in it?
27:59no, no, no, sir
28:00a British dealer we are associated with
28:02has just confirmed that you're about to source this for her in a trade deal
28:05I was just going to try and persuade Margot to part with it
28:08to land on something even more spectacular
28:10I don't understand what's going on
28:12you knew Margot was going to be at the airport last night
28:14and you chose your flight home to coincide
28:16I think you wanted the blueprint so much
28:19that you were willing to hurt to get to it
28:20you were wrong
28:23I love her
28:41you wouldn't harm her hair on her head
28:43you were seen at the scene of the crime
28:45and this was a terrible crime
28:46You are seen, at the scene of the crime, and this was found in your car.
29:11Unfortunately, Margot has just passed away.
29:13I'm afraid I have no option but to arrest you for her murder.
29:23I love her.
29:26I love her.
29:28Come with me.
29:30I loved her!
29:32Come on.
29:36Okay.
29:43That was Inspector Reduce. Margot didn't make it.
29:48And even though they haven't found the murder weapon, they're holding on to Colin because he was at the scene of the crime.
29:54Bang to right, surely?
29:55Not quite. They need to find the other person that was running away before they can nail him properly.
30:04Imagine killing your childhood friend over a piece of paper.
30:08It was a very important piece of paper.
30:10Yeah, but still.
30:12I've just got it. I didn't get to take a look at those blueprints.
30:17It's just, it's just all very heartbreaking.
30:22Come in.
30:24Listen, why don't I take you for dinner later?
30:27I've still got that card somewhere for the Attards restaurant.
30:29That'd be lovely. Thanks, Tom.
30:48You're not going to see much wearing them.
30:51I think you'll find I will.
30:54Any joy yet?
30:56Jeremy, please. We do not want to draw attention to ourselves.
31:01It's them. Action stations, Gloria.
31:04Gentlemen, please.
31:24Here comes someone now.
31:25Here comes someone now.
31:26I'm Wanna-
31:49Don't shut up!
31:50Don, I've been thinking, do you think it's time we told everyone about us at home?
32:06Can we leave it a little bit longer?
32:09I mean, we'll never get this time back, and I really want to tell Claudie first.
32:13Agreed.
32:17I'm going to have to take this.
32:18It's Bobby.
32:18Hello, Bobby.
32:26We saw everything.
32:28Crystal clear.
32:29And I filmed it.
32:35You were only supposed to catch the bloody scammers out.
32:43What did I say about being prepared?
32:46You must have been staring at yourself.
32:48I thought I was watching me, watching the criminals.
32:53What?
32:55Okay, Bobby.
32:56Bye-bye.
32:57Bye.
32:58Just Bobby saying thanks for our help.
33:06I think he just wanted someone to talk to.
33:08Bless him.
33:08Oh, that's nice of him.
33:10It's lovely in here, isn't it?
33:11I don't know you're into jewellery.
33:13Oh, no, I'm not.
33:14I just saw this beautiful...
33:16Oh, is this?
33:17Gloria.
33:17No, no, this isn't Gloria.
33:18This is Jean.
33:18I just bought this dead, mad necklace for her close birthday next week.
33:22She's going to love it.
33:23Oh, lovely.
33:24Well, let's have a look then.
33:26Oh.
33:27No, it's been gift-wrapped.
33:28It's Ace, though.
33:29I'll get you your seats.
33:30Oh, thank you.
33:31It says here it should be open.
34:01Oh, hello.
34:06I've come to say it's open.
34:09Sorry, you said to try the restaurant.
34:11We thought you were open.
34:12We are not open.
34:14Oh, it says on the card.
34:15I said we are not open.
34:18Go home.
34:20Um, shouldn't this be in police custody now?
34:24Ah, Jean.
34:25Well, you see, the thing is...
34:26Well, this is clearly a fake.
34:28I mean, this has been drawn by a fountain pen.
34:31Jean de Villette would have used a quill.
34:33I mean, the writing's too smooth.
34:35With a quill, you have to replenish the ink every two to three words, and it's less of a flow.
34:41No, this just isn't right.
34:43Very impressive.
34:44Your reputation as an expert precedes you, but it's still exciting to see you in action.
34:49Oh, thank you.
34:52But why is it here?
34:53I think you should go now.
34:56Oh.
34:57Oh, my lord.
35:00That was your crystal, Mrs. Attard, that I found.
35:05Not Margot's.
35:06I don't believe it.
35:09It was you two that stole the blueprint.
35:13And that's why you weren't running towards the exit.
35:18Because you were running towards Colin's car.
35:22You killed Margot.
35:23Oh.
35:23And then planted the fake blueprint in Colin's car to frame him.
35:29But why?
35:35Oh.
35:35Oh, it's you.
35:39You set this whole thing up.
35:42I'm sure we can come to some understanding.
35:50You see, Mrs. White, this was all perfectly orchestrated until you and your boyfriend here walked through that door tonight.
35:57When I called you earlier to say thank you, that should have been the end of it.
36:01But why?
36:02I found out my wife and Colin had been having an affair.
36:06And that it had been happening for years.
36:08Years!
36:10So, I made a plan.
36:13I created the blueprints and their provenance.
36:16The one you're currently holding in your hand didn't quite make the mark.
36:19But the one residing in an evidence box in the police station was enough to convince my wife of its authenticity.
36:26Her and Colin were obsessed by Jean de Valette.
36:28So why not create a bit of fake history?
36:31Quite believable, don't you think?
36:33I told you I was dubious about all this.
36:35You did, you did.
36:36You said that as well.
36:36Of course the blueprints were fake.
36:38They would have turned up by now.
36:39It was 500 years ago.
36:40You said that as well.
36:42Shut up!
36:42I arranged for you to be picked up from the airport at exactly the same time that Colin landed, too.
36:50You even pointed out his card for me.
36:51No!
36:52Thank you for that.
36:53It saved me an anonymous phone call.
36:54My friends gave me a scratch to make the robbery look authentic.
36:58And then I took control.
37:00I asked you before.
37:06What kind of man hits a woman in the back of the head?
37:11And I can answer that now.
37:14An angry one, Mrs. White.
37:15A man who had his heart ripped out from him by the woman he loved most.
37:21I wanted her dead.
37:22And I wanted Colin to be found guilty of it.
37:24You're playing leaves early in the morning?
37:30It will take a few days for anyone to realize you're missing.
37:34Attard!
37:47I am many things, but I am not a killer, Bobby.
37:51Attard?
37:52What are you doing?
37:54We needed the money for the restaurant.
37:55It's the only reason we got involved.
37:57We had no idea he was going to kill Margot.
37:59Shut your mouth.
38:00Mrs. White.
38:02Go.
38:02Call the police.
38:04Tell them everything.
38:05Tell them we didn't kill Margot.
38:23Don't mess it up this time.
38:52No.
38:53All right.
38:59Good.
38:59Bye.
39:01Oh,Cloud.
39:02Help me.
39:03Sorry.
39:03Bye.
39:03No.
39:03Bye.
39:05This time I got up.
39:16Bye.
39:17Come on.
39:18Bye.
39:20Did you get all that, darlings?
39:28Certainly did, darling.
39:30And Caron is on his way.
39:36Who needs enemies when you've got mates like that, eh?
39:42Here you go, Caron.
39:44Caught red-handed.
39:46I don't suppose I'll see my 5K again, but never mind.
39:49It's worth it to see the look on their faces.
39:51Gloria, I told you not to take the law into your own hands.
39:55I didn't. It was all Judith's idea.
39:57No one likes a grass, Gloria.
39:59It was Patrick, actually.
40:01Like Judith said, no one likes a grass.
40:04These people would be working for an organised gang.
40:07It could have been very dangerous.
40:09You said we needed rock-solid proof.
40:11Now we've got it.
40:19Hiya, Dom.
40:27Hiya, Trevor.
40:28Hello, Dom.
40:29What's going on?
40:31Nothing at all.
40:32Hiya, Dom.
40:34You're there as well, are you, Glo?
40:35Hiya.
40:35Me and Dad were just out for a spin in Madeline,
40:38and we booked into Jeremy and Judith.
40:40Is she all right?
40:41Yeah, she's right as rain.
40:44Still all right to leave Madeline at the airport?
40:46Yeah, no problem at all.
40:48See you later.
40:49Is that Uncle Patrick as well?
40:51Ladies and gentlemen,
40:53that's what's going on to the right.
40:56Something's going on there.
40:57I can feel it.
40:57Isn't there always?
40:58Well, that is true.
41:00Can we have a longer holiday next time?
41:02Of course we can.
41:03Come on.
41:06Right, let's see if we can get through departures
41:09without any more drama.
41:10I won't guarantee it.
41:11I tell you what,
41:12why don't I treat you to half a lager before we board?
41:14Oh, who said romance is dead, eh?
41:17Come on, sit down.
41:19I'll bring him over.
41:22Flight MZ-69-2, Virginia,
41:25is now ready for boarding at gate 5.
