00:00Welcome to Time Is Money, the fastest quiz on TV,
00:21where five players are about to be given thousands of pounds
00:24before they answer a single question.
00:27But in this game, it's not about getting the money.
00:30The trick is keeping hold of it.
00:32Let's meet our five players, all hoping to last the longest today.
00:36As this is the quickest quiz, can you sum yourself up in just three words?
00:40I'm Cheyenne, I'm a pickleball-playing linguist.
00:43I'm Simon, and I'm a football-obsessed podcaster.
00:45I'm Lynn, I'm a glamorous racing enthusiast.
00:48I'm Helen, I'm a bingo-loving mixologist.
00:51I'm Nadine, I'm a small, spontaneous crafter.
00:54Cheyenne, you're our pickleball player.
00:56Yeah.
00:57Would you say you're quite competitive, then?
00:58Very competitive.
01:00So any sport, game, whatever it is, I want to win it.
01:03That is fight and talk, guys.
01:04That was said with confidence.
01:06He's going to be the one to watch.
01:08Well, it's great to have you all with us.
01:10Let's play Time Is Money.
01:15In front of each of you is your money timer.
01:18An hourglass that we're filling with cash that you could be taking home.
01:22For round one, you start with £1,000.
01:25Let's top up those timers.
01:30But in this game, time is money.
01:33So the trick is keeping hold of it.
01:36If you can't get a question right, your money will count down coin by coin.
01:41And if you run out of money, your time in the game is up.
01:44Now, our first set of questions is about James Bond themes.
01:51So I'm going to give you the title of an official James Bond film.
01:55I'd like you to tell me the name of the band or artist who performed the theme song for that film.
02:01There are up to ten questions to answer in each category.
02:06This first question is crucial because the player who gives me the right answer will stop their money timer from counting down for now.
02:14So get ready on your buzzers.
02:16Here is your first question.
02:21Skyfall.
02:22Simon.
02:23Adele.
02:23It's correct.
02:24So, Simon, you're safe for now.
02:29The rest of you, your timers are going to start counting down at a rate of £10 a second.
02:35You must buzz in correctly to stop your timer, but an incorrect answer costs £50.
02:41Simon, if you buzz in before the others with a right answer, then you will speed up their timers, potentially sending them out of the game sooner.
02:48But an incorrect answer will start your own timer.
02:52Are you ready?
02:53Yep.
02:53You are all on the buzzers.
02:56Let's start the timers.
02:58No time to die.
03:00Nadine.
03:01Billie Eilish.
03:02Correct.
03:03Thunderball.
03:05Helen.
03:06Shirley Bassey.
03:06Incorrect.
03:07It's Tom Jones.
03:08Lose £50.
03:09The man with the golden gun.
03:11Lynn.
03:12Lulu.
03:12Correct.
03:13A view to a kill.
03:15Helen.
03:16Duran Duran.
03:17Is correct.
03:18Goldfinger.
03:21Lynn.
03:22Shirley Bassey.
03:23Correct.
03:23Speed up the timer.
03:24Licence to kill.
03:27Too slow.
03:28It's Gladys Knight.
03:29Die another day.
03:31Cheyenne.
03:31Madonna.
03:32It's correct.
03:35Cheyenne.
03:36Are you a big Bond fan?
03:37Yes.
03:38But not into the music.
03:40When I saw the theme, I was waiting for Skyfall and Die Another Day.
03:43Those are the only two that I knew.
03:44And then when you got the first one, I thought, ah.
03:46I only knew Skyfall.
03:47So that's fucking...
03:48Well, it's worked out great for you then, Simon, hasn't it?
03:52Sitting with £1,000 in his money timer still.
03:54Yeah, lucky.
03:55Just quick enough on the first one, because I didn't know any of the others.
03:57Do you know, that's the trick with this game.
03:59Time is money.
04:00It's not just about knowing the answers.
04:01It's about how speedy you can be to get in there before somebody else gets in there.
04:06Well, our next set of questions is about...
04:08..U.S. presidents.
04:13Nadine, you didn't look too thrilled about that one.
04:16No.
04:17You like your strong point?
04:19Not quite my strong point, but I'll give it a good go.
04:22Sometimes an educated guess is a good way to go.
04:25There you go.
04:25OK.
04:26I'm going to give you the first three letters of the surname of a U.S. president.
04:30You just need to tell me the surname.
04:33Now, we've seen how important that first question is.
04:36Get this right, and your money will not count down.
04:39You're all on the buzzer.
04:41Here is that first question.
04:44N-I-X.
04:46Simon.
04:47Nixon.
04:48Is correct.
04:50You're safe again.
04:51He's done it again.
04:52He's quick on that buzzer, mind, isn't he?
04:54So, Simon, again, you're safe for now.
04:56I'm all right on politics, so that was a good round for me.
04:59Well, we're only just getting started.
05:01Cheyenne, how are you on politics?
05:03Very good.
05:04Oh, it's a relief, because if not, Simon could be out for you here.
05:07I wouldn't do that to you.
05:09Don't.
05:10That's what he says now.
05:12OK, you're all back on the buzzers.
05:15Let's start the timers.
05:17O-B-A.
05:18Cheyenne.
05:19Obama.
05:19Correct.
05:21E-I-S.
05:22Cheyenne.

05:24Correct.
05:24Speed up the timers.
05:25L-I-N.
05:26Cheyenne.
05:27Lyndon Johnson.
05:28It's incorrect.
05:29It's Lincoln.
05:30R-E-A.
05:31L-I-N.
05:34Reagan.
05:35It's correct.

05:56B-I-D.
05:58Cheyenne.
05:59Biden.
05:59It's correct.
06:02And that is the end of the category.
06:05Helen, I'm sure you're thrilled to hear it.
06:10I kept crying, but I'm just not quick enough.
06:13I mean, my word, they were fast on that buzzer.
06:16What does it feel like when they start the gang up, aren't you, Helen?
06:19Yeah, it's quite nervous.
06:20I'm just going to hope the next category is something that I'm really, really, really good at.
06:24Yeah.
06:24And they're not.
06:25Get your own back.
06:26Absolutely.
06:27Lynn, was that the strategy there?
06:30You saw she was struggling a little bit and you thought you'd go for the jugular.
06:33I just thought, just keep answering.
06:36Just keep answering.
06:36Yeah.
06:37If you know, you know.
06:37Nothing personal.
06:38Just keep answering.
06:39It's nothing personal, Helen, but she wants to win.
06:41OK.
06:43Our next set of questions is about months of the year.
06:49So I'm going to give you a clue.
06:51I need you to tell me the name of the month to which the clue refers.
06:55OK?
06:56You are all on the buzzers.
06:58No pressure, Helen, but this first question now would be a great time to pull it out the bag.
07:03Good luck.
07:04Here is your first question.
07:06The month with the fewest number of days, Simon.
07:12February.
07:13Is correct.
07:14He's done it again.
07:16A hat trick three for three.
07:18It's gone well, hasn't it?
07:19It's been a great start.
07:21A great start, Simon.
07:23Don't put the kiss of death on it.
07:24No.
07:24So, Simon, you're safe for now.
07:27Again.
07:28But you are all back on the buzzers.
07:31Let's start the timers.
07:32Title of the first UK top ten single for Earth, Wind and Fire in 19...
07:38Nadine.

07:53It's March.
07:54Lose £50.
07:56Oh.
07:59Yeah, the January sisters from Little Women.
08:01Oh, I just panicked and thought I have to press the button.
08:03You were right.
08:04It was absolutely the right play.
08:06Try and get in there.
08:08See if I can give it a well-educated guess.
08:10But unfortunately, it wasn't the right one.
08:13I mean, it doesn't help that they were all ganging up on you there, Helen.
08:16I have to say.
08:17A little bit of gameplay going on there.
08:19How does it feel, though?
08:20Have you had a good day?
08:21Do you know what?
08:22It's absolutely fine.
08:23You've just got to give it your best shot, haven't you?
08:25And I've had a great time, so it's fine.
08:27Oh, brilliant.
08:27Well, do you know what, Helen?
08:28You've been a great sport and a fun contestant to have on the show.
08:31But unfortunately, it does mean we're going to have to say goodbye.
08:36Helen, you're out of time and you're out of money.
08:38So, the rest of you, though, well done on making it through to the next round.
08:48There you go.
08:49Through to round two.
08:50Exciting stuff.
08:52Well, listen, the money that you've saved will be carried through to the final if you make it there.
08:57So, let's see what you've saved.
08:59Cheyenne, good solid start there, £360.
09:04Simon, £1,000.
09:06Full house, well done.
09:08Lynn, great start, £450.
09:12And Nadine, £390.
09:14A solid first round.
09:15Let's save all that money for later.
09:16It's now time for round two.
09:22This time, there's more cash to play with.
09:25In this round, it's £1,250.
09:29Let's top up those timers.
09:33As this is round two, you don't just get one clue to the answer, you're going to get two.
09:38Our first set of questions is about...
09:41F films.
09:43So, I'm going to give you the title of a film, however, the first word that begins with F is missing.
09:51I'm also going to give you the name of one of the stars in the film and the year of release.
09:56I want you to give me the missing word.
09:59Right.
10:00Time is money.
10:01So, here is your first question.
10:05Blank club.

10:07Cheyenne.
10:08Fight.
10:09It's correct.
10:10I was going to say Brad Pitt in 1999, but you beat me to it.
10:14Simon, he's taking your title off you.
10:15I know.
10:16Too slow on that.
10:17So, Cheyenne, you're safe for now.
10:19You are all back on the buzzers.

10:58Don't worry.
10:59You haven't lost much ground on them there.
11:02They're fast, aren't they, Minds?
11:03They are, they are quick.
11:05Simon, you were going for it.
11:08I love Finding Demo, it's one of my favourite films.
11:10My favorite.
11:11Were you specifically trying to speed up some timers there,
11:14make some headway while you could on a strong category, or?
11:17I'm not actually that good on films, I don't think.
11:19I just, if I know it, I'm going to try and go for it.
11:22And Lynn, do you get a little bit more panicky when you hear the timers speeding up?
11:26Absolutely, especially when you see the other three are all frozen.
11:29It's like, oh, it's just me, it's just me.
11:31Well, you'll get your chance to get your own back on them, I'm sure.
11:35Our players are all putting up a good fight, but that can't last long.
11:38Join us after the break.
11:40APPLAUSE
11:41Welcome back to Time Is Money.
11:53We've seen how quick the game is, and now it's time for more questions.
11:57This next set of questions is about...
12:00UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
12:03So I'm going to give you the names of two locations which either are or form part of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
12:11You need to tell me in which country they are found.
12:14You're all on the buzzer.
12:16Here's that first question.
12:19Shark Bay and the Great Barrier Reef.
12:21Simon.
12:22Australia.
12:23Is correct, and he's back.
12:25Straight in there.

13:02Oh!
13:04Did you feel that?
13:05France.
13:06Yeah.
13:08It was a gamble.
13:09I wasn't actually sure, but champagne I do know.
13:12Yeah.
13:12Champagne, she knows.
13:14Oh, she knows her champagne.
13:15Do you know what's worth taking a gamble sometimes?
13:17Especially when the guys are this quick on the buzzers.
13:20Oh, yeah.
13:21You've sometimes just got to get in there.
13:22If you smell a little bit of a hesitation, worth taking that chance, and it's paid off.
13:26Okay.
13:27This next set of questions is all about musical siblings.
13:32So, I will give you two hit singles by an act originally made up entirely of siblings.
13:39Please give me the act.
13:41They're all on the buzzer.
13:43Here is your first question.
13:46Letter from America, and I'm going to be 500 miles.
13:50Simon.
13:52Proclaimers.
13:52It's correct.
13:54There is just no stopping you, Simon.
13:57Every category I think I'm going to be terrible at, and I just seem to know the first question.
14:00Well, it's gone well so far.
14:02Yeah.
14:02Let's hope it keeps going.
14:04Okay.
14:05So, Simon's safe for now again, but you are all on the buzzers.
14:09Start the timers.
14:10How deep is your love and staying alive?
14:12Lynn.
14:13Fiji's.
14:14It's correct.

14:53Jump for my love and I'm so excited.
14:57Too slow, the Pointer Sisters.

15:04Too slow, it's Sister Sledge.
15:07That is the end of the category.
15:08Cheyenne, you will be relieved to hear.
15:11Fantastic that it's over.
15:13When I saw the theme, I thought, this is going to be one I'm just going to sit out and hope that they all get it wrong.
15:19But luckily, I'm not too far below anyone else, so.
15:21So you're playing this tactically?
15:23Yeah.
15:23Oh, I like the thinking.
15:25Simon, did you know many more of those?
15:27No.
15:28No.
15:28I'd heard of some of them, but I didn't know that they did those songs, so pretty much only knew the Proclaimers again.
15:34You did good there.
15:35You did good.
15:36Lynn, did you know a couple more of those?
15:38Just didn't quite dare risk it once you were safe?
15:40I did know two or three, but I was playing it safe.
15:44I kept looking up and I sensed that little twinkle in your eye when you try to decide, should I go, should I take my chance, should I try and send them out?
15:51This could be mine.
15:52And Nadine, you tried to speed up their timers a little bit.
15:55I did.
15:56She was doing it for the girls.
15:58I thought, you know, if I know it 100%, I'll go in and it doesn't hurt that the timers speed up a little bit.
16:04Right.
16:04We're pretty evenly matched, apart from Simon.
16:08This next set of questions is all about 20th century events.
16:14So I'm going to give you two events that took place in the 20th century.
16:18Please give me the decade in which both events took place.
16:23You're all on the buzzer.
16:24Here is your first question.
16:28The first Barbie doll is launched and Queen Elizabeth II is crowned.
16:32Lynn.
16:341950s.
16:34Is correct.
16:35So, Lynn, you're safe this time.
16:38See how Simon feels when he's watching that timer trick down.
16:41You don't even know what that feeling's like, Simon, do you not?
16:43I don't like it already.
16:46Well, you're all back on the buzzers.
16:49Let's start the timers.

17:40The first episode of The Simpsons is broadcast in the US.
17:44Oh.
17:46Cheyenne, what were you going to say?
17:48I forgot the question.
17:49I was just buzzing in.
17:50The first episode of The Simpsons was broadcast.
17:5417s.
17:55In the US, it was the 80s.
17:57But you had to take that chance.
17:59It's the 60s one that Nadine got that I knew and I was just a little bit late.
18:03Nadine.
18:04Beat him at his own game.
18:06Oh, I like that little wink.
18:07Sad to see you go.
18:13That's so brutal.
18:15Very brutal.
