00:00Hello and welcome to the Top of the Pots review of 2025 where together we'll look back on some of
00:20the musical stories of the year as well as enjoying some great performances and celebrating
00:25the top 10 biggest selling songs. Now 2025 has been a year of nostalgic tours with the summer of
00:31Oasis Mania and 90s boy bands Five and Boyzone reuniting. Taylor Swift showed us the life of a
00:38showgirl plus the rise of country continued especially here in the UK as the home of country
00:43the Grand Ole Opry travelled to London for the first time ever. But there's even more to discover
00:49and over the next hour we'll enjoy music from Pulp, Chapel Roan and Lewis Capaldi. We'll say hello
00:56to the women of the moment breaking records all around the world this year Olivia Dean and Top of
01:02the Pots alumni and all-round legend Jarvis Cocker tells us about his year. Plus we'll get to know
01:07the artists behind two of the biggest selling songs of 2025. That's US rising stars Raven Lene and Alex
01:15Warren. So let's get into our first performance which comes from the man fondly known as the
01:20North East Springsteen who back in February released his third album People Watching and ended up winning
01:25the Mercury Prize album of the year. Remaining a man of the people by donating all his winnings to
01:31charity. So here he is with the title track from his chart-topping album headlining Radio 1's
01:37Big Weekend in Liverpool. It's Sam Fender.
01:44So here he is.
01:47Hey everyone!
02:08What's on the way back home?
02:11This is the blame of hope
02:13Gives me away from feeling alone
02:16Gives me a moment out of the ego
02:20Used to feel so invincible
02:21I used to feel it was worth dreaming of
02:25Back in the gas, screaming the song
02:28Just the beauty of youth will quell my heart
02:33Oh, I feel so dark
02:36Remember it
02:38Oh, my heart
02:45I feel so dark
02:48Remember
02:49I think the world's on the way back home
02:58Everybody on the chair will hold it
03:01Out of the billboards, out of the heat
03:04So what is done, it's on the street tonight
03:07Oh, I can't stop it
03:10I still won't come home
03:13I think the world's on the way back home
03:15I think the world's on the way back home
03:19I came back home in my past seven years
03:33Right away chasing tracks of her tears
03:37Going to the nurse to get the gist of it
03:39I promised to get her out of the care
03:43And the police was calling the best
03:45And I stopped in overruled by call
03:49And the songs of goodness was wound up on the floor
03:51And the beauty of youth that left my breaking heart
03:56Oh, the war in my heart
04:00When you loved someone
04:02Oh, I stayed on the way back home
04:08Till you left this lane
04:11Cause that's just love
04:14I think the world's on the way back home
04:21Everybody on the chair will hold it
04:24Right away from the billboards, out of the heat
04:27So what is done, it's on the street tonight
04:31Oh, I can't stop it
04:33I see the world's on the way back home
04:36I think the world's on the way back home
04:39I think the world's on the way back home
04:42I think the world's on the way back home
05:06I think the world's on the way back home
05:11Can't wait such doing results in the sky
05:16What I feel for this crippled eye
05:20In the turmoil of the times
05:23And I'll hold you in my heart till the day I die
05:27Oh, I think the world's on the way back home
05:33Everybody on the chair will hold it
05:36I don't think the world's on the heat
05:39So what is done, it's on the street tonight
05:42Oh, I can't stop it
05:45I see the world's on the way back home
05:48I think the world's on the way back home
05:50I think the world's on the way back home
05:54I think the world's on the way back home
06:02I think the world's on the way back home
06:06I think the world's on the way back home
06:10I think the world's on the way back home
06:14I think the world's on the way back home
06:17Sam Fender there tearing up Sefton Park in Liverpool
06:43for Radio 1's Big Weekend earlier this year
06:46and Stand By Sunderland because it's coming your way in 2026.
06:51Next up, an artist who returned in a big way in 2025.
06:55Not only has Olivia Dean sold out her UK tour,
06:58including six dates at London's O2 next year,
07:01she's also become the first woman to ever have four singles
07:05in the top ten simultaneously.
07:07And here she is to tell us how it's been.
07:10Hi, Clara. It's me, Olivia Dean.
07:13And wow, what a year 2025 has been.
07:15If you'd have told me at the beginning of the year
07:18what the rest of the year would have been like,
07:19I would have said, no, don't believe you.
07:22Looks like we're making up for lost time.
07:25Not only did the album go to number one, which was ridiculous,
07:28but at the same time, Man I Need was also number one
07:31in the singles chart, so I did the double.
07:33I didn't even know the double was a thing.
07:35Probably one of the most surreal moments of my life,
07:38fan-nom, yeah, both of them look really nice
07:40next to each other next to my telly.
07:47It's an album about love,
07:49and don't we all just want to love each other
07:51and be in love or love each other better?
07:54And I don't know, I think it just touched people.
07:56We could be nice to each other.
07:59Then I found out I was the first female solo artist
08:02in history, in history,
08:04to have four songs in the top ten at one time.
08:07My mum was actually the person that sent that to me,
08:10and I texted her back and said,
08:11you need to get that fact-checked,
08:12because it's probably not true, so don't get excited.
08:15It's ridiculous, and I still don't believe it's true,
08:17but apparently it is.
08:18So...
08:19Can we save you?
08:21We're going to 2026,
08:22and I'm doing my first ever arena tour,
08:25and we're doing six nights of the O2,
08:27which are all sold out,
08:29and a lot of work to do before then,
08:31but it's going to be great.
08:33It's definitely all still very pinch-me,
08:35and I think it's going to be an incredible year next year.
08:39And now here's me playing Man I Need earlier on in the year.
08:42Roll the clip.
08:44Talk to me, talk to me
08:46Talk to me, talk to me
08:50Looks like we're making up for lost time
08:56Need you to spell it out for me
09:00Washing over on all night
09:04It's like a type of alchemy
09:07Introduce me to your best friend

10:16I'd like to think you feel the same way
10:20But I can't tell with you sometimes
10:24So baby, let's get on the same page
10:28Stop making me breathe between the lines
10:32Already know I can't leave it alone
10:35Oh my, my
10:38And I already gave you the time and the place
10:43So don't be shy, just come be the man I need
10:48Tell me you got something to give, I want it
10:52I kinda like it when you call me wonderful

11:04Talk to me, talk to me, talk to me
11:09Talk to me, talk to me, be the man that I need
11:15Talk to me, talk to me, be the man that I need
11:19Talk to me, talk to me, be the man that I need
11:23Talk to me, talk to me, be the man, man, man, man, man
11:28The glorious Olivia Dean with her chart smash,
11:52Man I Need, from her number one album, The Art of Loving.
11:55And don't forget, she'll be joining Jules Holland
11:57for his annual Hootenanny to see in the new year on BBC Two tonight.
12:02No doubt Olivia is a future festival headliner
12:05and this year we saw even more brilliant women
12:09headlining festivals across the UK.
12:12So right now, here are some of those winning women.
12:16With applied pressure from these women
12:19and their loyal fans the world over,
12:22many festivals went on to proudly book
12:24some of the world's most successful female artists to headline.
12:27Leading the charge, global megastar Olivia Rodrigo
12:36set a new record by headlining a total of 18 festivals around the globe.
12:42And it doesn't get much bigger than Glastonbury.
12:46At just 22 years old, the pop juggernaut
12:49became the Sunday night pyramid stage headliner.
12:52Backed by an all-female and non-binary band,
13:03Olivia delivered a killer set with an unexpected special guest
13:06in the form of The Cure's Robert Smith.
13:09Over on the other stage, on Saturday night,
13:19Charli XCX literally set the stage alight with her headline set.
13:25After taking the world by storm with Brat Summer last year
13:28and cleaning up the Brits,
13:30it was one of the most anticipated sets of the weekend.
13:33In an incredible one-woman show,
13:36Charli transformed the Glastonbury feels
13:38into a sweat-drenched, laser-lit nightclub.
13:47Glastonbury!
13:49At the same time, on West Holt's stage,
13:52rap icon Dolce delivered a masterclass headline set of her own.
13:56Welcome to Dolce's School of Hip-Hop!
13:59I've been wrestling with my piece and that's the irony.
14:02I'm a dying sunflower, leaving a dread love seat.
14:05In the A13, Glastonbury race, great!
14:07Hands up, hands up, hands up, hands up, hands up, hands up, hands up.
14:12No chip on my shoulder.
14:15What you say?
14:17But it didn't stop at Glastonbury.
14:19Other festivals elsewhere were also making room for women in the top spots.
14:23Isle of Wight's wet leg made their mark
14:27when they topped the bill at Green Man Festival.
14:43US pop superstar Sabrina Carpenter
14:47took on Barcelona's Primavera Sound and BST Hyde Park.
14:51You guys, sold out.
14:53Two nights, 65,000 people at Hyde Park.
14:58Our very own Ray delivered true escapism at London's Victoria Park.
15:03We are headlining all points east, which is very exciting.
15:09And to round off the summer, Midwest princess Chapel Rhone
15:13continued to ride her on Stoppable High
15:15when she headlined Reading and Leeds Festival,
15:18bringing her euphoric fairy tale to life.
15:20So, get ready to saddle up
15:22as we look back on Chapel's unforgettable performance of Hot To Go.
15:27We're going to spell Hot To Go
15:29with our arms.
15:33Watch me.
15:35Ready?
15:35H-O-T-T-O-G-O
15:41You can take me hot to go
15:45H-O-T-T-O-G-O
15:49You can take me hot to go
15:54I can be the one with your new addiction.
15:57It's up in my head, but I want non-fiction.
16:01I could be the one with your new addiction
16:20It's up in my head, but I want nonfiction
16:23I don't want the world, but I'll take this city
16:27Who could make my girl come behind my pretty
16:30Baby, don't you like this beat?
16:33I made it, I made it dance with me
16:36It's like a 199 degrees
16:40Now they're doing it with me, doing it with me
16:44H-O-T-T-O-G-O
16:46Snap and clap and touch your toes
16:47Raise your hands on body roll
16:49Dance it off, your heart's go
16:51H-O-T-T-O-G-O
16:53Clap and clap and touch your toes
16:54Raise your hands on body roll

17:01And you gotta take me high to go
17:04H-O-T-T-O-G-O
17:08And you gotta take me high to go
17:12H-O-O-O-O
17:13Staring at my city
17:15I try not to care
17:16H-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O
17:18You don't have to say
17:20Come here, get up with it
17:22No, put me there in a damn heart
17:24Baby, don't you like this beat
17:27I'm gonna take me high to the beat
17:31I'm gonna take me high to the beat
17:34I'm gonna do it with me, doing it with me
17:39H-O-T-T-T-O-G-O
17:41Snap and clap and touch your toes

19:18A jubilant mass sing-along at Reading Festival this summer,
19:21led by the Midwest princess, Chapel Roan.
19:24Coming up later in the show, in true Top of the Pots fashion,
19:27we'll be finding out the top 10 biggest songs of 2025
19:30and one of the artists behind one of those songs is our next guest.
19:35US star Raven Lanay broke through this year with her chart smash, Love Me Not,
19:39and here she is to tell us how 2025 has been for her.
19:43Hi, Raven.
19:44Hi, Clara. It's Raven Lanay,
19:46and I'm here in one of my favorite cities in the world, London,
19:49about to play Roundhouse for the very first time.
19:52I'm so excited.
19:54My 2025 has been probably one of the most transformative years of my life.
19:58I've learned so much about myself as an artist, as a woman, as a friend,
20:04but also being able to experience such highs in my career
20:08that I've been working for a long time has been really rewarding,
20:12so it's been good.
20:14And oh, it's hard to say, but I wish you were right here, yeah.
20:18Having one of the biggest songs of 2025 feels surreal for me,
20:23only because I remember when I first made the song and we finished it
20:27and me and my team, we knew that there was something so special about it.
20:31I think the most interesting comment I get about Love Me Not
20:35is that it feels like it can be from any decade,
20:38and I think that marks a truly generational song.
20:42This year has been really validating for me
20:44because there's been a lot of moments in my journey
20:46where I might have doubted or been confused about, you know,
20:50my timing or if there was space for me in music.
20:53So this was kind of the okay of I'm on the right path,
20:57I'm doing the right thing, and some things just take time.
21:03This tour has been so beautiful for me,
21:06one, because my mom has come to almost every city with me,
21:10so it's been nice having her company,
21:11but also being able to relive these songs
21:14and make new memories around them with new fans.
21:18This summer I got to sing Love Me Not for Radio 1's Live Lounge.
21:22Please enjoy.
21:24See right now, I need you, I'll meet you somewhere now.
21:29You up now, I see you, I get you, to care now.
21:33Slow down, be cool, I'll miss you.
21:36Come here now, it's yours now.
21:39Keep it, I'll hold out until now.
21:41I need you right now, once I leave you, I'm strung out.
21:45If I get you, I'm slowly breaking down.
21:49And oh, it's hard to see you, but I wish you were right here.
21:54Oh, it's hard to leave you when I get you everywhere.
21:58All this time I'm thinking we could never be a pair.
22:03Oh, no, I don't need you, but I miss you.
22:06Come here.
22:06And oh, it's hard to see you when I wish you were right here.
22:11Oh, it's hard to leave you when I get you everywhere.
22:14All this time I'm thinking I'm strong enough to sink it.
22:19Oh, no, I don't need you, but I miss you, come here.
22:24He love me not, he loves me.
22:26He holds me tight, that lets me go.
22:28He love me not, he loves me.
22:30He holds me tight, that lets me go.
22:32Soon as you leave me, we always lose connection.
22:37It's getting messy, a fiend for your affection.
22:40Don't loosen your grip, gotta hold on me.
22:45I'll go wherever, let's get back together.
22:50Love taken so far away.
22:54I pray to God we don't breathe.
22:58I want you to take me up and down and round and round again.
23:04And oh, it's hard to see you, but I wish you were right here.
23:10Oh, it's hard to leave you when I get you everywhere.
23:14Oh, this time I'm thinking we could never be a pair.
23:18Oh, no, I don't need you.
23:20Oh, I wish you were right here.
23:22And oh, it's hard to see you when I wish you were right here.
23:27Oh, it's hard to leave you when I get you everywhere.
23:30And oh, all this time I'm thinking I'm strong enough to sink it.
23:35Oh, no, I don't need you, but I wish you were right here.
23:39He love me not, he loves me.
23:41He holds me tight, that lets me go.
23:44He love me not, he loves me.
23:46He holds me tight, that lets me go.
23:48He loves me.
23:50He holds me tight, that lets me go.
23:52He loves me, he holds me tight, that lets me go.
23:57You're gonna say that you're sorry
23:59At the end of the night, wake up in the morning, everything's alright
24:05At the end of the story, you're holding me tight
24:10I don't need to worry, am I out of my mind?
24:16I'm losing my mind
24:19All this time I'm thinking I'm strong enough to sink it
24:25Oh no, I don't need you, but I wish you got me
24:29He love me not, he loves me, he holds me tight, then lets me go
24:34Love me not, he loves me, he holds me tight, then lets me go
24:39Raven Lanay with Love Me Not from Radio 1's Live Lounge back in September
24:45Now it's time to say hello to a true treasure
24:48who's performed on Top of the Pops many a time
24:51and has even been a previous host
24:53I'm talking about Jarvis Cocker
24:55It's been a big year for Pulp, so let's hear more from the man himself
24:59Hello Clara, Jarvis here
25:02My 2025 has been amazing
25:06It seems to have lasted about the same length as about four years
25:09Not because it's been boring, but just because a lot of things have happened
25:13If I had to sum it up in one sentence, I would say
25:162025, we came alive
25:19Do you remember the crossfire?
25:22We've been away for 24 years, so people might just have forgotten about us
25:27Let's all meet up in the year 2000
25:31There were some anniversaries, like for instance it was 30 years since we played at Blastrom before
25:36It was 30 years since different class came out, it was 30 years since Common People was a hit
25:41So it seemed a bit silly to ignore them
25:44We'd been playing concerts
25:47And we'd played a couple of new songs
25:50And we just thought, let's see how many we could write and could we make a record
25:54Once we'd done the record, I was really happy with it
26:03And then I did have a couple of weeks where I thought, maybe we shouldn't release it
26:07And just keep it as like, that was a nice thing for us to do as a band
26:10To show that we could do it
26:12But however, the record company had paid for us to record it
26:16So we had to release it
26:18When it came out and people did take notice of it
26:20And it got a good perception
26:21And it went to number one and everything
26:23It was a great feeling, it really was
26:26So we got given the number one award
26:28And then I kept showing it in the concert
26:30So you could tell that I was quite pleased
26:33The Albert Moore is number one
26:35We had thought about playing Glastonbury
26:38But when we asked them, they said
26:40Oh well, you know, we've booked everybody
26:41Sorry, there's not a slot for us
26:43Any chance you'll be doing Glastonbury?
26:44I'll be going to Glastonbury
26:46And I might DJ
26:48But what about if one of the headliners drop out again
26:51Like they did in 1995?
26:53I don't think that's going to happen
26:54No, but it might
26:55Imagine a while where it did, Jarvis
26:57Would you step up?
26:58If it was a life or death situation
26:59But I really don't think it's going to happen
27:02And then maybe two months before
27:04They said, well, we have got this secret slot that we do
27:08They said you could do that on Saturday
27:10But not under our name
27:12We were secretly listed as patchwork
27:15Which some people caught on to that
27:17Because Candida had mentioned in an interview
27:19That she liked doing patchwork
27:21Oh, is this the way they say
27:23The future's meant to feel
27:25Or just 200,000 people standing in the field
27:30To go back after 30 years
27:32Made me a bit nervous
27:35But I was very excited about it
27:37And it seemed kind of poetic
27:39That, you know, the circle had been completed
27:43Comparing the pyramid stage 2025 to the pyramid stage 1995
27:51The main thing was
27:53I could actually see people this time
27:55Because we were playing in the day
27:56You know, when we played in 1995
27:59You were aware there were a lot of people
28:01But you couldn't really see them
28:02It was just an idea
28:03That sound when they sang along
28:06I could really see everybody
28:08I could see the crowd stretch quite a long way
28:10And then there was the kind of crazy thing
28:12The climax of common people
28:14The red arrows flew over
28:16Which was a complete
28:17I can just say this categorically now
28:19We had not arranged that
28:21And then dance and drink and screw
28:24Because there's nothing else to do
28:27Things like that made it a very special concert
28:31You're about to see Pulp play on Jules Holland
28:35And you know how they have everybody in a circle
28:37On the latest set
28:39So we were there
28:40The hives were opposite
28:42I was thinking, don't attack me
28:44And we played Spike Island
28:47Something stopped me
28:58Tired in my tracks
29:00I was headed for disaster
29:02Then I turned back
29:04I was wrestling with a coat hanger
29:06Can you guess who won't?
29:08The universe shrugged
29:10Shrugged and moved on
29:12It's a guess
29:13No idea
29:16It's a feeling
29:19Not a voice
29:22In my head
29:24Just a feeling
29:28And by the way
29:31Not a shaman or a showman ashamed I was selling the rights
29:45Not a shaman or a showman ashamed I was selling the rights
29:59I took the breather decided not to ruin my life
30:03I was conforming to a cosmic design I was playing to time
30:07Until I walked back to the garden of earthly delights I was born to perform
30:14It's a calling
30:16It's a calling
30:18I exist
30:20I exist
30:21To do this
30:22Shouting and pointing
30:24And by the way
30:28And by the way
30:29And by the way
30:32The Spike Island
30:34Come alive
30:35And by the way
30:37And by the way
30:39And this time I'll get it right
30:44Oh
30:45No one will ever understand it
30:50And no one can ever have the last word
30:53Because it's not something you could ever say
30:56So swivel
30:59It's a guess
31:03No idea
31:05It's a feeling
31:06That you feel
31:08Not a voice
31:11In my head
31:12Does make it
31:16No idea
31:17That you feel
31:18No idea
31:19That you feel
31:20Not a voice
31:21No idea
31:22That you feel
31:23Not a voice
31:24In my head
31:25Just makes it
31:28No idea
31:29And by the way
31:30Oh, this time I'll get it right
31:36Yeah, and by the way
31:38Spike Island come alive
31:44And by the way
31:46Well, this time I'll get it right
31:53Oh
32:00Ooh
32:15Ooh
32:17Ooh
32:19Ooh
32:24Ooh
32:27Excellent to see Pulse back in action this year
32:40with Spike Island from their chart-topping eighth album, More.
32:442025 saw lots of other artists making a return
32:47with the most anticipated reunion
32:49that nobody thought would happen ever.
32:52The Gallagher brothers,
32:53they finally took to the stage together once again,
32:55but the reunions and the returns didn't stop there.
33:012025 gave us some of the biggest and best returns in music
33:06and wow, did it deliver.
33:10After 16 long years, the great wait was finally over.
33:15Oasis were officially back.
33:17Following years of Will They, Won't They...
33:19Obviously, I missed being in a band and being with my brother and all that.
33:22It happens, it happens. If it don't, it don't.
33:24The Gallagher brothers finally confirmed the much-anticipated reunion tour.
33:29And with more than 14 million fans trying to buy tickets,
33:33the world went mad for it.
33:35Walking out hand-in-hand,
33:37the Britpop giants kick things off in summer
33:39and have since stormed their way across the UK and across the globe.
33:44As for what's next, well, Noel is rumoured to be writing new Oasis songs
33:58and a return to Nedworth is said to be on the cards.
34:01But one thing that is for certain,
34:03Oasis and their music will certainly live forever.
34:07From one 90s heavyweight to another,
34:15after rehearsing just for the hell of it last year,
34:18Radiohead burst back onto the scene for their first live shows since 2018.
34:23Pulling from an impressive catalogue across four decades,
34:27Radiohead took a busking attitude to their set list,
34:30playing any song, in any order, at any time.
34:33But with plans for 2026 still unknown,
34:36let's hope there's more surprises to come.
34:44And speaking of surprises,
34:47in October, Lily Allen suddenly dropped her new album,
34:50West End Girl,
34:51just four days after announcing it.
34:57Wrapped in her signature sound and witty lyricism,
35:00the Deeply Personal album marked her first musical project in seven years.
35:05And 2026 will see her hit the road again
35:07for her biggest headline tour ever.
35:16Earlier this year, 90s boy band Five also revealed
35:20they'd be stepping back into the spotlight
35:21for the first time in 25 years.
35:24With all five original members reuniting,
35:29fans snapped up tickets
35:31and what started as a 12-day run
35:33quickly grew to 25.
35:36From boy bands to ballads now,
35:38as Lewis Capaldi made his heroic return to music this summer.
35:41I only think about you all the time
35:47Following an emotional performance at Glastonbury in 2023,
35:52Lewis took a break from music
35:54to focus on his health and well-being.
35:58After being away for two years,
36:00the singer-songwriter took on one of the surprise slots
36:02on the Pyramid stage,
36:04drawing in one of the biggest crowds of the weekend.
36:12The outpour of love and support that followed
36:15resulted in a sold-out UK tour.
36:17And while he prepares for a US leg in 2026,
36:21let's remind ourselves of his unbelievable performance.
36:24How long till it feels
36:27Like the wounds finally starting to heal
36:32How long till it feels
36:37Like I'm more than a spoken new year
36:41Most nights I feel
36:46That I'm not enough
36:48I've had my share of Monday mornings
36:51When I can't get in
36:53So where hope is low
36:56And I come undone
36:58I swear to God who'll survive
37:03If it kills me soon
37:08I'm gonna get up and try
37:13If it's the last thing I'll do
37:18I've still got something to give
37:23Though it hurts sometimes
37:28I'm gonna get up and leave
37:34Until the day that I die
37:38I swear to God I'll survive
37:43Hold on till you know
37:49That in truth you don't ever feel
37:53How far will you go
37:59To give back to the place
38:03To give back to the place you were
38:03Most nights I feel
38:08That I'm not enough
38:10But I refuse to spend my best years
38:14Rotting in the sun
38:16So where hope is low
38:18And I come undone
38:20I swear to God who'll survive
38:26If it kills me too
38:31I'm gonna get up and try
38:35If it's the last thing I'll do
38:41I've still got something to give
38:46Though it hurts sometimes
38:50I'm gonna get up and leave
38:56Until the day that I die
39:01I swear to God I'll survive
39:04I swear to God I'll survive
39:14I swear to God I'll survive
39:24If it kills me too
39:29I'm gonna get up and try
39:33If it's the last thing I'll do
39:38I've still got something to give
39:44I've still got something to give
39:45Though it hurts sometimes
39:48I'm gonna get up and leave
39:55Until the day that I die
39:58I swear to God I'll survive
40:05The triumphant return of Louis Capaldi to a warm and welcoming worthy farm
40:14At this year's Glastonbury Festival
40:16Now someone else who broke through this year
40:19Is a South London artist with an incredible voice
40:22Lola Young
40:23Lola performed at the Brit Awards at the beginning of the year
40:26And released her album in September
40:28But announced soon after that she'd be taking a break from music
40:31We send Lola all our love
40:33And thought we'd go back to May of this year
40:36To Radio 1's Big Weekend in Liverpool
40:38Where she performs her massive hit Missy to a huge crowd
40:42I love the fact that everyone's getting on everyone's shoulders
40:54That's a beautiful thing
40:56Look at that
40:56Hey
40:58You know I'm impatient
41:04So why would you leave me waiting outside the station
41:08When it was like minus four degrees
41:10And I
41:10I get what you're saying
41:12I just
41:14Really don't want to hear it right now
41:16Could you
41:16Feel like once in your life
41:19And listen to me
41:20I took your nice words of advice
41:23About how you think I'm gonna die lucky if I turn 33
41:26Okay, so yeah, smoke like a chimney
41:28I'm not skinny
41:29And I pull a Britney
41:30Every other week
41:31But come me some slut
41:33Who do you want?
41:34See it!
41:35You told me at a job
41:42Then you asked where the hell I've been
41:44And I'm too perfect
41:46Till I open my big mouth
41:48I want to be me
41:50Is that not allowed?
41:53And I'm too clever
41:54And then I'm too goddamn dumb
41:57You hate it when I cry
41:59Unless it's that time of the month
42:01And I'm too perfect
42:03Till I show you that I'm not
42:05A thousand people
42:06I could be for you
42:07And you hate the whole damn lot
42:09You hate the whole damn lot
42:14You hate the whole damn lot
42:18You hate the whole damn lot
42:20Yeah, yeah, hey
42:26It's taking you ages
42:28Used to log in
42:29Hence I'm not asking for pages
42:31One, two, would be nice
42:33And please don't pull those faces
42:36And I've been out working while so full day
42:40It's just one bottle of wine or tea
42:43But hey, you can't even talk
42:45You smoke just to help you sleep
42:47And while you're out getting stoned at 4 o'clock
42:49And then you're going to eat
42:51And don't stand in love
42:54Cause I got high again
42:56And forgot to fold my clothes
42:59Cause I'm too messy
43:01And then I'm too dirty clean
43:04You told me you had a job
43:06And you asked where the hell I've been
43:08And I'm too perfect
43:10Till I open my big mouth
43:13I want to be me
43:15Is that not allowed?
43:17And I'm too clever
43:18And then I'm too goddamn dumb
43:21You hate it when I cry
43:23Unless it's that time of the month
43:25And I'm too perfect
43:27Till I show you that I'm not
43:29A thousand people I could be for you
43:32And you hate the whole damn love
43:36You hate the whole damn love
43:40You hate the whole damn love
43:44You hate, you hate
43:46This is my band everybody
43:55This is the corner of the guitar
43:57This is the camera of the keys
43:58On this case, I know you're raised
44:00Join our jobs
44:01We don't keep on
44:02I love you so much
44:03Thank you for having me
44:04Oh
44:06Cause I'm too messy
44:09And then I'm too goddamn clean
44:11You told me I left a job
44:13And you I square the hell I've been
44:16And I'm too perfect
44:17Till I open my big mouth
44:20I want to see it
44:22And I'm too clever
44:26And then I'm too goddamn dumb
44:29And I'm too goddamn dumb
44:30And I'm too perfect
44:34Till I show you that I've got
44:37A thousand people looking
44:38Me for you
44:39And you hate the whole damn love
44:41You hate the whole damn love
44:46You hate the whole damn love
44:50You hate the whole damn love
44:56You hate the whole damn love
44:58You hate the whole damn love
45:00I need a blast
45:02A big applause for Zaliga Grandad
45:04The brilliant Lola Young from Radio 1's Big Weekend
45:08In Liverpool's Sefton Park
45:09Now, 2025 has seen the charts dominated by the pop girlies
45:14With the likes of Sabrina Carpenter and Chapel Roan
45:17Claiming spots in either the singles or albums top ten
45:20But it was Taylor Swift who swooped in at the last minute
45:24Back in October
45:24To claim the biggest selling album of the year
45:27With The Life of a Showgirl
45:29So in classic Top of the Pops fashion
45:31It's time to find out who are the top ten biggest selling songs of the year
45:35Kicking things off at tens
45:39It's pure pop power
45:41As Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars
45:43Join forces for Die With A Smile
45:46At nine
45:51It's record-breaking Olivia Dean
45:53With her first ever number one
45:55Man I Need
45:56We met her earlier in the show
46:05It's Raven Lanay
46:06With Love Me Not
46:07At eight
46:08With one of the biggest songs of the last two years
46:17It's Benson Boone at seven
46:18With Beautiful Things
46:19At six
46:23Pop star Gracie Abrams made her Glastonbury debut this year
46:27And earned her first UK number one
46:29With That's So True
46:31You're number five
46:39Teaming up once again
46:41Bruno Mars joins Blackpink's Rosé
46:43For their viral hit APT
46:45This year global blockbuster K-pop Demon Hunters
46:56Took over both the screens and the charts
46:59With Golden at four
47:01Riding high at number three
47:05It's Chapel Roan with pop anthem Pink Pony Club
47:08South London's finest Lola Young takes number two
47:19With her breakout single Messy
47:21And at number one
47:27This year has been anything but ordinary
47:30For Alex Warren
47:31And we caught up with the man himself
47:35On his extraordinary year
47:37Hi Alex
47:38Hey Clara
47:39It's Alex Warren
47:392025 has been absolutely insane
47:42I released Ordinary in February of this year
47:44And it's one of the biggest songs of 2025
47:46And that's mind-boggling
47:48Dude, I never thought
47:48A song I wrote about my wife
47:50Would be anywhere as big as it is
47:52And I'm so happy that it is
47:54Ordinary has broken so many records
47:58One of the records
47:59It's the longest number one of the decade
48:01Beating Ed Sheeran's Bad Habits
48:02And I just want to say
48:06Ed, if I can be candid
48:07There's a new ginger in town
48:09It's this guy
48:10The fact that my album
48:13Is also in the top ten
48:15I'm just going to keep saying
48:17It's crazy
48:18I wrote it in my bedroom
48:23There's me and my friends
48:25And that's exactly what my music is
48:27It's just me telling my story
48:28And the fact that so many people care
48:30And also so many people relate to that
48:31Is terrifying but also amazing
48:34I was nominated for Best New Artist at the Grammys
48:38I was at my house with my friends
48:41We were writing the new album actually
48:42So it was really, really cool
48:44To kind of have a full circle moment
48:45Where I was nominated for the work
48:47That I had done last year
48:48And I was with the people who did it with
48:50Earlier this year
48:54I got to perform at Radio 1 Live Lounge
48:56And it was the most terrifying but exciting thing I've ever done
48:59That was probably one of my favorite performances I've done
49:03And I wanted to show you guys
49:04So this is it
49:06They say the holy water's watered down
49:09And this town's lost its faith
49:12Our colors will fade
49:14Eventually
49:15So if our time is running out
49:18Day after day
49:20We'll make the Monday
49:22Our masterpiece
49:24Oh my, my
49:26Oh my, my
49:28Lord
49:29I'll take one look at you
49:32You're taking me out
49:33Of the ordinary
49:35I want you laying me down
49:37To a dead berry
49:39On the edge of your night
49:42Staying drunk with your heart
49:44The angels up in the clouds
49:47I tell this don't be found
49:49Tell me so well
49:50Of the ordinary
49:52You got me kissing the ground
49:55On your sanctuary
49:56Shout to me with your touch
49:59Oh Lord
50:00We turn in the clouds
50:02The angels up in the clouds
50:04I tell this don't be found
50:07Hopeless
50:09Hallelujah
50:11On this side of heaven's gate
50:16All my life
50:18How do you
50:20Breathe in
50:22Take my breath away
50:25Let your balker, I'll pray
50:28You're the sculptor
50:29I'm the clay
50:30On my, my
50:32You're taking me out
50:33Of the ordinary
50:35I want you laying me down
50:37Dead berry
50:39On the edge of your night
50:42Staying drunk with your mind
50:44The angels up in the clouds
50:47I'll tell this don't be found
50:50You saw me so heavily
50:52Higher than ecstasy
50:54Maybe you're next to me
50:57On my, my
50:58On my, my
50:59Until I saw your light
51:03I thought you had to die to fight
51:06Something so out
51:07The ordinary
51:09I want you laying me down
51:12To a dead and buried
51:13On the edge of your life
51:16Staying drunk with your heart
51:19The angels up in the clouds
51:21I tell this don't be found
51:23So there you have it
51:43The biggest selling song of 2025
51:46Is Alex Warren's Ordinary
51:48And I'm sure we'll be seeing
51:49And hearing more from him
51:50Next year
51:51Sadly, we've come to the end
51:53Of this year's review
51:54Of 2025
51:55But I've got one more
51:57Treat left for you
51:57Don't forget
51:58You can see in the new year
51:59With Jules Holland

52:27Happy New Year
52:28I don't even know
52:58Where to begin
52:59Baby, you've got one thing
53:04I've got to know
