00:00Here's Paddy
00:09Oh
00:10It's movie week
00:12On the Great British Sewing Bee
00:15Last time
00:17The sewers got arty in a week of firsts
00:20Hello, how's your sewing going?
00:22Kit won his first garment of the week
00:24Absolutely stunning
00:25Yasmin won her first challenge
00:27I finally won something
00:29But a baby doll dress blooper
00:31We've got a seam down the front
00:33Should have been at the side
00:34And a maid to measure that missed the mark
00:37Meant Stuart was the seventh sewer
00:39To leave the sewing room
00:40Thank you
00:41I'm going to miss you
00:42Oh, nice to meet you
00:43This time, it's movie week
00:46Some popcorn for you, Kaz
00:47There's a tearjerker of a pattern challenge
00:50Don't cry
00:51An A-list transformation
00:52That's in danger of becoming X-rated
00:55An adult film is still a film
00:57And a spine chilling made to measure
01:00And an adult
01:01Who can hear me in that?
01:02Whose name will be up in lights?
01:04I could see it's on the red carpet
01:06And who will be cut from the picture?
01:08This is how you dress a woman
01:10It's the quarterfinals!
01:36But I hope it's a glamorous dress
01:37I hope so as well
01:38Don't really know what to expect from movies week
01:39Because there are so many different movie genres
01:42They could really throw anything at us
01:44Thank you so much
01:45Princess Leia costume
01:46That'd be alright, wouldn't it?
01:47I quite fancy doing that
01:48Not the bikini though
01:50Come on up the front, look
01:51I am nervous
01:54Never thought I'd make it this far
01:56But here we are
01:56Here we are
01:57Come on, let's get on with it
01:59Hollywood
01:59You're a millionaire
02:01Hollywood
02:02Come forward, sewers
02:04Hollywood
02:05Love is everywhere
02:07Let me take
02:09Welcome to movie week
02:11There have been many silver screen couples over the years
02:15Brangelina
02:17Bennifer
02:17But none of them as fabulous as our own sewing bee duo
02:21Patresme
02:22Esme of Patresme, over to you
02:27Right, here we go
02:28Thank you
02:30What we want you to make is a jacket
02:35Inspired by film costume designer Edith Head
02:39She designed a jacket like this
02:42For a classic Alfred Hitchcock film
02:45The Birds
02:46Oh
02:46The original was the epitome of early 60s elegance
02:52It is trickier than it looks
02:54So please follow the instructions to the letter
02:57You have five hours for this challenge
02:59Lots of luck
03:00Don't stand near open windows
03:02Your time starts now
03:03Right
03:04Let's go
03:05Okay
03:06To create this softly tailored garment
03:09That's nice
03:10Selecting the right fabric is crucial
03:14This is too lightweight
03:15It's too thin and flimsy
03:16I want something that's a medium weight
03:18Not too heavy
03:19It just might be quite bulky to turn out
03:21I've seen The Birds, yeah
03:22Many, many years ago
03:25Very scary
03:26Alfred Hitchcock does such great films, doesn't he?
03:29I've never seen the film The Birds
03:31I assume it's about birds
03:32So why did you choose the jacket from The Birds?
03:37Did we not have enough shower curtains
03:39For the scene from Psycho?
03:41The costume that this jacket is inspired by
03:44Was worn by Tippi Hedren
03:45It's made by Edith Head
03:46Who's one of the great Hollywood costume designers
03:48Won eight Oscars
03:49She was a titan in the industry
03:51It's elegant
03:52It's upscale
03:53I think it's a terrific challenge
03:55So what are the stumbling blocks?
03:56This is a grown-on sleeve
03:58So you've got one pattern piece
04:00That does all of the front
04:02And the back
04:03And the sleeve
04:03So they may find that confusing
04:05It's got a gusset
04:07Under the arm
04:08That's going to be difficult
04:10So also
04:11It's very important
04:13They press this well
04:15And we get a nice clean finish
04:17I'm excited about the challenge
04:18But I still think it's a shame
04:20We're not doing Psycho
04:21Intense man with a
04:23Domineering mother figure, anyone?
04:30There's a lot to do
04:32There's a lot of pieces
04:33Fabric
04:34So this must be
04:35No, this can't be the sleeve
04:37Fabric and lining
04:39It's definitely the hardest pattern challenge so far
04:41When all 17 pieces have been carefully cut out
04:44The sewer's first job will be to add the patch pockets
04:47Then the darts are sewn
04:49And the two halves of the jackets join together
04:51Openings are cut for the gussets
04:54And the underarm
04:55And side seams stitched
04:56The gussets are then inserted
04:58Next, the lining is assembled
05:01The facing added
05:02And then the collar is constructed
05:04And attached to the shell
05:05The lining and shell are joined
05:08And the sleeves stitched together at the cuffs
05:11The whole jacket is then bagged out
05:13Through a gap in the sleeve lining
05:15Which is sewn shut
05:16And the jacket pressed
05:17Good morning
05:19How are we doing?
05:20Not bad at all
05:21Have you read your pattern pieces carefully?
05:23Front and back lining
05:24Remember we said at the beginning
05:27Yes
05:27Make sure you read everything carefully
05:29I know
05:30Reading's not my strong point
05:33Well
05:33I'm a visual sort of a person
05:35Might be time to start
05:37The fabric needs to be perfectly cut out
05:40And not stretched
05:41Have you ever watched any Hitchcock films?
05:44I started watching the one with the shower
05:46I don't think I finished it
05:47I've only seen that scene sort of parodied
05:49So I don't know if she's okay
05:51Maybe she goes, ah, oh no, it's just a draft
05:53Well I've chosen this sort of herringbone wool
05:57So I'm trying to sort of fit in small pieces in the gaps
06:01I feel like I've wasted a lot of fabric
06:03For someone who doesn't like wasting fabric as well
06:05Everybody else in the room
06:07Is much better at reading instructions than I am
06:10Good morning
06:11This is nice, isn't it?
06:13Have you made anything in wool fabric like this before?
06:17No, I don't think I've ever worked with a wool
06:18Can you see how wobbly that front is?
06:21They never press their patterns
06:23And I've told them to
06:25Come on, you need to listen to Esme
06:27I will try
06:27There's a time limit
06:29Honestly, I think it saves you time
06:31It's just so much easier to work with a flat pattern
06:33Precision cutting is both essential and time-consuming
06:39Gosh, this has taken ages to cut out
06:41And everybody else is still cutting out
06:43As any mistakes could ruin the entire garment
06:47Oh!
06:49In my stupidity
06:53I have cut holes in the piece that I'd carefully cut out
06:56Stupid gussets
06:58Don't cry
06:59Don't cry
07:01Too late
07:01Don't cry
07:03Okay
07:04I cut holes out of my main piece of fabric
07:11No!
07:11I just wanted you to know in case you were feeling stressed
07:15It does actually make me feel better, thanks
07:16While Kaz scrambles to salvage her jacket
07:18So I'm like way behind and wrong
07:21The other sewers can begin the tricky job of assembly
07:24I don't need you anymore
07:26It feels good to start sewing
07:28Just topstitching the top of the pockets
07:30It's not looking very good
07:31They will pick up on a wonky pocket
07:34And I'm not having a wonky pocket
07:36God, my pocket is a bit wonky
07:39I never did the side edge
07:41I read like half the instructions
07:43And rushed ahead and did it
07:45I'm not concentrating
07:46I've got to stop
07:48That's a pretty decent pocket to be fair
07:50How are you doing?
07:51I've cut it out wrong
07:52Oh!
07:53Yeah
07:53Does it not say in the instructions not to cut a hole in it?
07:56I didn't read that bit
07:57What films did you like?
07:59All the old classics
08:00Like what?
08:01Black Narcissus
08:02That's a great old film
08:04What's that about, Black Narcissus?
08:05That's the nun that goes mad
08:07It's on the top of a mountain
08:08They're cut off
08:09And there's one man
08:10It's like me and Esme stuck with Patrick
08:11Life is like a box of chocolates
08:18If you've eaten half of them
08:20You're halfway through
08:21I might leave the lining for now
08:23Because I need to get on with sewing, I feel
08:26Darts are next
08:27With the darts carefully stitched
08:29I'm doing some form of dart
08:32I'm not quite sure which one
08:34Or where it goes
08:35But I'm doing it
08:36The two sides of the jacket joined together
08:38Actually, the construction of this isn't too difficult
08:41And the grown-on sleeve sewn up
08:43Clothing up my sleeves and my side seams
08:47The next step is the gussets
08:49It's gusset time
08:50Oh, the gusset is definitely something the judges will be looking at
08:54Because of the way this jacket is cut
08:55If we just sewed it up, it would pull really tightly on the underarm
08:59So you add in a triangle of fabric
09:00Just to give you some space for your arm to move
09:03This stage is very fiddly
09:05The gussets need to be even
09:07They're not even
09:08And you should not be gusseting
09:09How's it going?
09:10Gusseting
09:11I think this is wrong
09:12No, don't say that
09:13No, it's not wrong
09:14It's not right
09:15This is like the scary bit in a movie
09:17Where I have to close my eyes
09:18I mean, this gusset is
09:20Disgusseting
09:22Do you know how people have a visceral hatred for the word moist?
09:28That's how I feel about the word gusset
09:29Well, you've got to topstitch it, so I'm going to do it now
09:32I'm checking for holes on my gusset
09:35Ooh, she's not neat, but she's in
09:38We don't topstitch it
09:39No, you just sew it
09:41It's not great, but it's in
09:42Topstitching is how that gusset look really nice
09:44I'm happy with that
09:46Frankly, my dear, I don't give an hour
09:50You've got one hour left
09:52Oh, dear
09:54Second gusset's done
09:55One's good, one's not so good
09:57With the outside of the jacket done
09:59I'm going to hang your jacket up for you
10:01Because this is distressing me
10:03Oh, thank you
10:04The sewers can turn their attention to the inside
10:07I'm just about to start my lining
10:09And do the whole process again
10:11We're doing more gussets
10:13In an even trickier fabric
10:15The lining fabric is so slippy
10:18That's you're bumping into you here
10:20How's it going?
10:24There's just a lot of it
10:25I don't know if I'm Martha, Martha, Stephen, Herman right now
10:28Feasting, feasting, feasting
10:30It's the feasting to ensure that, you know, there's no dry edges down the front
10:34I've had a mare
10:35Have you?
10:36I've placed it all out
10:37And then I thought, oh, I'm wasting a lot of fabric
10:39So I moved two gusset pieces into the big main piece of the body that I'd already cut out
10:44Oh, yeah
10:46What on earth were you thinking?
10:47I don't know
10:48Half an hour left, everybody
10:5213 minutes
10:53Gonna be close
10:55Is it the collar next?
10:56This is another ridiculously tricky thing
10:59Where is my top collar?
11:00The collar is in two parts
11:02So there's an upper collar and an under collar
11:04One's cut on the bias
11:05So I think it's gonna help create shape
11:06And any confusion about which is which
11:09Which one's the under collar?
11:10Means it won't sit correctly
11:12When you've put it together, how do you know which is the underneath?
11:15Ruining the jacket's elegant silhouette
11:17I don't like my collar
11:18I don't think my collar's very neat
11:20I've never done a collar like that
11:22That is a really nice bit of pattern making
11:26Yeah, I've got a jacket
11:28Yeah, you've got a jacket
11:29There's no lining
11:30No, but I've seen worse things on Romford Market
11:32I've got to sew the lining onto the jacket
11:38This is one big long seam all the way around
11:42Which will be very fun to sew
11:43Just like
11:43Meow
11:49I don't know what they mean by this hem
11:53When they say stitch across
11:55So do you stitch across from here?
11:57No, so you fold that over
11:58Stitch just there
11:59Just trim that
12:00Just trim it a bit
12:01Oh, you cut that off, did you?
12:03I did
12:03I had about two centimetres
12:04I just cut it off
12:05I'm not happy about cutting that off
12:08I don't think it's going to match
12:09Just check the lining
12:10This seems to have worked
12:12I don't think I'll finish
12:14I've had to stumbling block
12:15I have no idea what I have to do here
12:19Ten minutes left, everyone
12:20I'm attaching the lining out to the bottom hem
12:24And I don't know whether it's correct or not
12:27Because I don't understand the instructions
12:29Next thing is on the sleeves
12:31The jacket's unique construction means the shell and lining must now be joined at the sleeves
12:35I can't visualise how when I turn it out
12:38It's going to look right
12:40In a method few of the sewers have encountered before
12:43It doesn't make any sense
12:45So the construction of the sleeve
12:46You've got to do it like this
12:48Rather than like this
12:50So that when you pull it through
12:51It goes like that
12:52They go
12:54Kiss, kiss, kiss
12:56Okay, right, so you need to do right sides together
13:00Okay, that makes sense
13:02Yes, that makes sense
13:04Oh, rocket science this, I tell you
13:06That's one sleeve
13:08Do you see what I mean?
13:08It doesn't look like it's going to be right
13:10So now I go again
13:11Sleeves
13:11They're not twisting
13:13They're meeting together
13:14Sleeveless in Seattle
13:15Both a long way off
13:17And very close
13:18I don't know
13:19Whether it'll be a complete jacket
13:22Five minutes left
13:23I know what I'm doing
13:25Come on
13:26Come on
13:27After this
13:28I have to pull everything through
13:30The jacket lining
13:31This is like a hope and pray moment
13:33Maybe I need a bigger hole
13:34It's birth
13:36It does look
13:37I don't put that birth
13:38Oh
13:38Ta-da
13:41It's worked
13:43She's beautiful
13:44She's so beautiful
13:45What are you going to call her?
13:46Jackie
13:47Jackie
13:48Like jacket
13:48Jackie
13:49I got it
13:50Thank you for explaining it to me there, Ola
13:53Looks kind of like a jacket
13:55It's iron time
13:56I'm just pressing out these corners here
13:58So happy I've got so much press
14:00I haven't got all my sleeves out yet
14:02One minute left
14:04One minute
14:05I haven't finished
14:06But I want to turn the jacket
14:08So at least it looks like a jacket
14:10It really does need a good press
14:13Come on
14:14Press?
14:17Press?
14:17It hasn't been pressed
14:19And I hate that
14:21I hate that more than the fact it's not finished
14:24Needles up, sewers
14:26We got it in the can
14:28Not quite in the can
14:29Come on then
14:30Shall we get these babies in a row?
14:33That was terrible
14:34Sorry
14:34Very nice
14:38That's quite good actually
14:39Yes, good job
14:39Five jackets inspired by the legendary costume designer, Edith Head
14:50Made in just five hours
14:52They look very authentic to me
14:56What do you guys think?
14:58They look pretty good
15:00We might have ruffled a few feathers
15:01Well, I'm astonished that you've got a pretty much completed jacket
15:15Given the calamity that you had in cutting out
15:19Well done for pulling it back
15:20It's not bad overall
15:22But it obviously really needs the final tidy up
15:25I think the fabric's really nice
15:28It's a shame this isn't pressed
15:30The lining is in
15:32The back corner of this gusset
15:34There's a bit of a hole
15:35Your collar's actually not too bad
15:37I've got to kind of congratulate you for getting it back to this point
15:41I do like the fabric
15:45This is the under collar you've got on top
15:48And the top collar underneath
15:50Let's look at the gusset
15:51There's a raw edge here
15:54The left hand pocket here is hanging a little bit low
15:57You needed to do a much better job of pressing
16:00Overall I think you've made a pretty reasonable stab at it
16:03You've done a nice job of this
16:08I think you started off by choosing a good fabric
16:10It's a nice weight
16:11It presses nicely
16:13We've sewn the under collar on the top
16:15Which is a big shame
16:17The lining looks super neat
16:18I think you've got that gusset in pretty well
16:21Let's have a look at the outer
16:23Not bad
16:24I think it's pretty good
16:26It's not a bad stab but you're not finished
16:32The obvious thing is that we can see the lining
16:35It's a shame because quite a bit of it is nicely done
16:38The pocket's pretty good
16:40Just a tiny bit of the front edge of the pocket's showing below there
16:44That's sewn pretty well
16:46The gusset
16:46That's the under collar
16:48If you'd had a couple of minutes to give that front edge a good press
16:52It would have looked so much better
16:54But you know, we've just run out of time
16:55I do like the fabric
17:01It's a good weight
17:02I think the lining colour choice was spot on
17:05The top collar's on the top
17:07And the under collar's on the underneath
17:09The gusset's put in very nicely
17:12Why have you top stitched it?
17:14I thought, well, it's the same as pressing
17:16And you can't see it
17:17So I just did it on both sides
17:19It maybe seems trivial
17:20But the point is we cut that gusset on the bias
17:23So that it will stretch
17:24But if you've sewn over it, it won't stretch
17:26But overall, I think you've done a smashing job
17:29Patrick and Esme will now rank the jackets from last place to first
17:34In fifth place is Gaynor
17:37It's not finished
17:38In fourth place is Kaz
17:41And they're amazing that you managed to get it almost there
17:44In third place is Yasmin
17:47The collar's on the wrong way round
17:49In second place
17:51All up
17:54Very nicely made
17:56Just a couple of tiny little imperfections
17:59Including getting the collar the wrong way up
18:02So, in first place is Kit
18:06Very nicely made and well pressed
18:09This is my sixth pattern challenge win
18:17That's pretty good
18:18Six out of eight
18:19Take that
18:19I made the biggest error ever
18:22So, the fact that I managed to get it finished
18:25I'm really pleased
18:26I knew I'd come fifth
18:27Yeah, there was no other place
18:30Couldn't come sixth, could I?
18:31Welcome back, sowers
18:44It's time now for the transformation
18:46This is the one where you take something old and rubbish
18:49And change it into something more glamorous
18:51Patrick, what are they transforming today?
18:53Right, sowers
18:54Time to pull yourselves together
18:56We would like you to transform these cinema curtains and tiebacks
19:05Into an outfit fit for an awards after party
19:09You can take one hanger with curtains on
19:12Set up tiebacks
19:14And we want to see how you use them to create something glamorous
19:18Now, the judges aren't able to be in here for this challenge
19:22They've got a celebrity party to go to themselves
19:24Tell Judy Finnegan and Mr. Motivator I say hi
19:27You have 90 minutes
19:31And your time starts now
19:33I'm so excited
19:37Oh, they're all red
19:39Lovely
19:40That makes it easy, doesn't it?
19:42Yeah
19:42Oh, this one
19:44Oh, there's a lining
19:46Oh, no, hang on
19:47Do I want the tassel? I think I want the tassel
19:49I think it would be really fun to go to a blockbuster movie after party
19:52I wouldn't mind attending a fancy do dressed up
19:55I've never been to an awards show
19:56They've not awarded me with anything yet
19:58Well, I'm feeling high glamour
20:03With all of this glorious red velvet
20:05That's what I want to see
20:07After all, it's an after party
20:10The great thing about these curtains
20:11There is a lot of fabric to play with
20:13I think it would be nice to reflect the idea of the pleating
20:18The curtain tape gives this really lovely gather
20:20And they can play with the position and the density of those gathers
20:24Then we've got tie backs
20:26They've got cord
20:27They've got tassels
20:28There are interesting things they could do with these
20:31And some of them will drape it on the stand
20:34Which could look amazing and have a real power to it
20:39You've been to any after parties?
20:40Yes, I have actually
20:42What did you wear?
20:43Was it an old curtain?
20:44Yeah
20:45Of course it was
20:46Well, it's nice to have some fabric
20:50And not tents or dirty dungarees
20:53There's a lot of fabric for it, that's for sure
20:56It's very heavy
20:57I feel like I want to do something off the shoulder
20:59I'm going to do a tiny bit of draping
21:02I'm going to make some sort of nice red corset with a big skirt
21:06I'm going to make a dress
21:07I think I'm going to use this as a neckline
21:10And have pleated bodice
21:12I want to try and make a dress with a bodice
21:15I want to hem the top
21:17Hey, what are you making?
21:19This is like a proper Cannes Film Festival fancy dress
21:23The most beautiful people in the world
21:25Oh yeah
21:26Speaking in French accents
21:27Very much so
21:28Drinking champagne
21:29And they're going to wear this
21:31An old curtain
21:33I am trying to make some sort of dress
21:37I want it low on the bum
21:38But there's low and there's low, isn't there?
21:40I'm threading the elastic through the channel I've created
21:43So it pulls it in at the top
21:45I'm trying to make a dress
21:46But it's so heavy that I'm just flopping it around
21:48This is amazing
21:49So you've got a big tassel
21:51What kind of event are you thinking this is?
21:53It's an after party for a film
21:54A view of a river
21:55Fireworks
21:56This is someone in London
21:58Who has a name that we're meant to know
21:59But I probably don't
22:00Because I don't watch TV or films
22:02Do you know what's great then?
22:03I want to be really good friends with you
22:04Because everyone else treats them like a megastar
22:06Because everyone else just wants to give a caviar
22:07And I'll give her a greggs
22:08And she'll be like, this is lovely
22:10Yeah, she'll be like, you made this yourself?
22:14Some popcorn kit
22:16Yeah, please, have you got sweet?
22:17Of course I have this one
22:19Thank you
22:20It's for you
22:21Some popcorn for you, Kaz
22:23Oh, I'd better get in there
22:25You're halfway through
22:27Glamorous
22:28Fun
22:29Crazy
22:30The judges are expecting Hollywood pizzazz
22:33An after party can be a little bit more fun
22:35And a little bit more flirty
22:36And Kaz is going all out to turn heads with her outfit
22:39I think it needs to be a lot, lot shorter
22:42She's a party gal, isn't she?
22:44So it's a sort of mini dress
22:45Yeah
22:45The paparazzi will be all over you like a rash
22:48You want to be photographed but you don't want to be on the front page for the wrong reasons
22:51I added a zip to the back
22:54And then I need to quickly drape a skirt
22:58I'm making a long skirt
23:00I'm going to hopefully do some sort of pleating
23:05Now I'm just going to pleat my skirt with very liberal pleating, I think
23:09Where possible I want to use the original pleats
23:12Oh no, she's cut it off
23:13I have cut it off
23:14It's just bad
23:18This was good
23:19And then I've just ruined it
23:21I've made it indecent
23:22Come on
23:26This centres up here
23:28I don't really know what's going on here
23:35So I've made a pleated skirt
23:36I'm adding a waistband
23:38I'm going to do a hook and look fastening
23:40Because I've taken the thickest part
23:43It's just not like sewing
23:45And it's so heavy that I can't drape anything
23:47I am kind of adding a go day
23:49I've never done a go day
23:50See if that adds some more volume
23:53This sounds great
23:54I just don't know what to do
23:56I'm not like a complete loss
23:57Step one, get something on
24:02Step two
24:05Don't cry
24:07All right then
24:10Here we go
24:13There you are
24:15Enjoy the film
24:1615 minutes left everyone
24:18Can I switch my curtains?
24:21It's gone horribly wrong
24:22So can I switch my curtains if I don't use any of the original curtains?
24:25Great
24:25I switched out my curtain for another one with 15 minutes left
24:30Because there's truly nothing I could have done with that original one
24:32It was so heavy I couldn't have sewn through any of it
24:35I've added a bit on the front so it's not indecent now
24:39We are creating the most risque thing ever
24:45These are the curtain ties they were talking about that you have to include
24:49Yeah that I've got to include, I love them
24:51They're fun aren't they?
24:52They're really fun
24:53Now I've still got this braid I've got to use
24:56I'm thinking attach it on the front somewhere
24:59That's in so we want to go under
25:01I'm pretty happy with how this is looking
25:03So I'm creating an incredibly long tie
25:05To tie that top together
25:07I'm doing a mature adult film
25:10That's what I'm doing
25:10An adult film is still a film
25:13I'm using the curtain tie
25:14As a strap
25:17Oh look what happened?
25:18So much has happened since you've left
25:20I've been on an adventure
25:22I've learned a lot about myself
25:24So we had this like foldy thing
25:27Is it on the floor?
25:28It was truly bad
25:29What is it?
25:29Exactly
25:30Have I just done it again?
25:32I just cut it short again
25:33What are you doing?
25:34I don't know
25:35I might have to hand stitch that on
25:37It's going to tie the front and the back
25:39Five minutes left everyone
25:40Crazy
25:41I'm going to fix this on some sheep
25:44It doesn't look like much
25:45It's amazing
25:46This is like Anne Boleyn kind of
25:49It's very liberal Orla
25:54It's a special type of party
25:56Pins in the boob
25:57And you're suddenly going to say
25:59You've got one minute left
26:00One minute left Sowers
26:0260 seconds Orla
26:08Well that's the needle
26:09That's the needle gone
26:11Oh
26:12Are we just going to make this?
26:14Oh my gosh
26:14I genuinely couldn't have done better
26:17It was going to not work
26:19So much
26:19This is how you dress a woman
26:22Shake the dress over her
26:24Needles up Sowers
26:26That is the final curtain
26:28I don't know whether I can see it
26:30On the red carpet
26:31Bring your mannequins forward
26:33For their big break
26:35Oh I don't want to go last
26:37I'm just going to go first
26:39To get it out of the way
26:39It's got a nice bit of underboot
26:41Going on there
26:42Oh that's stunning
26:44That back
26:45Behind the curtain
26:47Who's up a large stage show
26:50Behind her
26:51I sit here
26:52All along
26:54Five cinema curtains
26:56Transformed into outfits
26:57Fit for an A-listers after party
26:59Judges
27:00The matinee is starting
27:03And Esme and Patrick have no idea
27:06Whose is whose
27:07One of those is maybe for the after after party
27:10Behind curtains
27:12Of a large stage show
27:14Behind her
27:15I sit here
27:17Well there's not a lot of coverage
27:19We gave them a fairly substantial curtain
27:21And I suspect they've used about three and a half percent of it
27:25It's definitely risque
27:26I would say it was very risque
27:29Imagine the breast
27:31I don't need to imagine
27:32I can see
27:33I have a slight feeling that this was done in something of a hurry
27:37Because you know just a couple of little darts
27:40Would have made that considerably less immodest
27:43Yeah
27:44Let's keep the curtains closed today
27:47I think it's pretty good overall
27:50I think the fit of the bodice is really smart
27:53Do you think these are the original pleats?
27:56If they are
27:57Whoever made the curtains wasn't very good at pleating
27:59That one's a bit short
28:00That one's a bit long
28:01I like just this little bit of the cord across the top
28:05Yeah
28:05And then using that same cord to tie the back
28:08Yeah
28:08Also it looks elevated
28:10It looks like an after party
28:12Yes
28:12I like this a lot
28:20This is very flowy
28:21Very Grecian
28:22They've used loads and loads of curtain
28:24I love the way they've accentuated the shape of the neck with the cord
28:27We've got quite a clever sort of alignment of two pieces of cord
28:33Coming through with this beautiful tassel
28:36I love this
28:38You could paint with it
28:39What if you get bored of talking to George Clooney?
28:43I would get bored of talking to George Clooney
28:46I could see this on the red carpet
28:48I think it's a smasher
28:49Well the back's quite over the top
28:58We've got go days
29:00But it's all going on at the back
29:02You're right
29:03There's more at the back
29:04But I think there's a nice detail
29:05No
29:06At the front
29:06Around the neck
29:07They've used the ties really cleverly as a sort of central focus point
29:12And then brought it all over and crossed it over
29:15I think it's very dramatic at the back
29:17It's slightly risque but I think it's fine
29:19You've got enough coverage
29:20Yeah I like it
29:22Well I think this is another one that feels very glamorous
29:30Very dressed up
29:32I love tassels and everything
29:34I love this gathered bodice
29:37They've used the original gathering from the top of the curtain
29:41And then they've done a second less gathered tier
29:44And I just really like the effect of it
29:46I like all the work they've done in it
29:49But it looks a bit mumsy to me
29:51I think it feels slightly gone with the wind glamour
29:54You're not having that
29:55No
29:56It's just the silhouette I'm not very keen on
29:59Patrick and Esme will now rank the transformations from least to most successful
30:04In fifth place is the mini skirt and top
30:10That's Orla
30:11There wasn't much to judge
30:13Yeah
30:13In fourth place is the one at the end with all the gathers
30:19That's Gayna
30:20It was all a bit too puffy
30:22Thank you
30:23In third place is the halter neck mini dress
30:27That's Kaz
30:28Great shape, very nice
30:30Thank you
30:30In second place is the dress with the corset at the top
30:38That's Kit
30:39The top was really nicely fitted but the pleats were uneven
30:44Which means in first place is the gorgeous multi-pleated gown
30:49That's Yasmin
30:50I mean it's an absolute knockout isn't it
30:56We loved it
30:57So much clever work
30:58So beautifully done
30:59And I could sit coming down the red carpet
31:01Thank you very much
31:03I had a lot of fun
31:04Transformations have always been my favourite
31:08So I'm so glad I've got at least one that I can say I won
31:11I turned out something that was half decent and in a transformation for me that's a win
31:16It went so horrifically wrong
31:18That I am very much looking forward to proving myself once more tomorrow
31:23I have a lot riding on it
31:24There's just one more challenge in movie week before the judges decide who will be going through to the semi-final
31:39So how are they doing any starlets in the making
31:44None of them were perfect
31:46They've all been so good at these pattern challenges but I think this one caused a few problems
31:50Kit's up there
31:52But there were imperfections he top stitched his gusset for some reason
31:56Kaz had to recut hers that's why she didn't finish it
32:01And then Gaynor
32:02Some unfinished lining hanging out
32:04And then the transformation
32:06Yasmin's was really lovely
32:07Aula came at the bottom
32:09Yes and you can see why
32:11You didn't like Gaynor's
32:13It's so puffy
32:14But I quite liked it
32:16Glamorous
32:17Right so going into made to measure
32:18It feels like we've got a very tight pack
32:21Yeah I think so
32:23This made to measure is going to really be important
32:27For the final challenge
32:32Here again
32:33The models are back in the sewing room
32:36It's an awful lot of pressure
32:38The one I'm sad to feel it
32:39Welcome back sewers
32:42And hello to your models
32:44Or should I say
32:46Actors
32:47Because for today's made to measure
32:49The judges would like you to design
32:51A costume for a character
32:52In a horror movie
32:54You have five hours for this challenge
32:56And your time starts now
32:58Let's get cracking
32:59I'll show you what I've got
33:00This is the dress
33:02Which obviously I've cut out anyway
33:04The sewers have been given time
33:05To cut out their pieces
33:06But this is their first chance
33:08To check them on their models
33:09These are going to be overly long on you
33:11The shoulders sit there
33:12Perfect
33:14And start bringing their horror costumes to life
33:17No love of horror movies
33:19I quite like horror movies
33:20I don't watch them alone however
33:21I watched one
33:22When I was very young
33:25And I'll never watch another
33:28So tell me about this challenge
33:31Why have you chosen it?
33:33Well some of the most memorable characters
33:34Are in horror films
33:35And the costume plays a big part
33:37In creating those characters
33:38Whether it's vampires
33:40Or ghouls
33:41Or something like Freddy Krueger's hat
33:42And his knifey fingers
33:44So how might they approach this challenge?
33:47The costume has to tell a story
33:49It needs to fit well
33:50And also they might stress it
33:54You know they might rip it
33:56Or put blood on it
33:58Not real blood
33:59No not real blood
34:00It's really important
34:02That what they're making today
34:03Is a costume
34:04But not a bit of fancy dress
34:06So it needs to be
34:07At a very elevated level
34:08Thanks guys
34:09And if anyone needs the loo
34:10Come find me
34:11Because I've used all the toilet paper
34:12To make a mummy costume
34:13Oh I'm in the group
34:18Yeah let's go
34:19I want to get the whole construction done
34:21Really quickly
34:22So I can have so much fun
34:23Distressing
34:24Both myself and the garment
34:26Hello
34:27Hi
34:28What are you up to here
34:30With all this wool?
34:31I'm making a wig
34:32What's the wig for?
34:34The wig is for my horror doll costume
34:36She was a person
34:37Who went down to a basement
34:38Found a doll
34:39The doll came to life
34:40Shredded her skin
34:42That forced her skeleton
34:43And her body
34:44Into another doll waiting
34:45And then she
34:46You've really thought this story through
34:47Haven't you?
34:48I want to make it scary
34:49Orla's horror doll costume
34:51Will consist of an Edwardian style dress
34:54With gathered skirt and sleeves
34:55A face covering hood and wig
34:57And a gory surprise on the back
34:59A 3D printed spine
35:01I mean genuinely does sound quite creepy
35:04What's her name?
35:05Oh
35:07It is me
35:08The scariest of them all
35:12Right we'll leave you to it
35:12Good luck
35:13Thank you very much
35:14Kit is also tapping into childhood fears
35:18There's this one episode of Doctor Who
35:20That I watched when I was younger
35:22I was probably about 9
35:23Yeah
35:23And had these really creepy scarecrows
35:26And they like attacked loads of school children
35:28Yeah I was going to ask
35:28What this animal bedding was doing on the floor
35:31Animal bedding on the floor
35:32For his homage to the Doctor Who baddies
35:34Kit will create an oversized linen tunic and trousers
35:37Which he'll distress and fill with straw
35:39A hessian hood will complete his scarecrow costume
35:42If he had a crow on here
35:43I would expect them to make a scarecrow
35:46But not a human
35:47Are you half crow?
35:49What gave it away?
35:50You can never peck at the crops like you want to
35:52Can you?
35:53In order to realise their terrifying visions
35:56The sewers have been allowed to treat their fabrics beforehand
35:59I've kind of painted red fabric to be like a bloody wound
36:03And Yasmin has gone to town with hers
36:06Oh no you've ruined it
36:08I know
36:09Right let me guess what you're making
36:10Spooky maid?
36:11No not quite
36:12Miss Havisham
36:13I don't know if you'll guess this one
36:14So this is a Trinidadian folklore horror legend
36:17Yeah that wasn't my third guess
36:19Probably mentioned that I'm half Trinidadian
36:21So this is a devil woman
36:23Called the Lajabless
36:25Yeah
36:26She lures men into the woods
36:29Yeah
36:30And she murders them
36:31Serve you right
36:32Her Lajabless costume will feature a cotton dress with a time consuming boned bodice
36:38Trimmed with her muddied brodery anglaise
36:41A madras overskirt will hide a bloody handprint
36:44And she'll top the outfit with another important part of the legend
36:48She has some scales across her face
36:50But she wears a massive white brimmed hat to cover up the scales
36:54Are you making the hat?
36:55I am
36:55How confident do you feel?
36:57I'm pretty sure I can get all the elements done in the time
37:00The bit I was most confident about
37:01I thought you'd think it was scary enough
37:02I don't really do it out and out of horror
37:04Gaynor is also outfitting a man-eater
37:07But this one hails from closer to home
37:10I'm making a mythical creature from Welsh legend
37:13Oh
37:13A Mary Morgan
37:15Okay
37:16Maure is sea
37:17Jenny is born
37:18So she's born of the sea
37:19So she looks beautiful
37:20She's eternally young
37:24But her great delight is drowning young men
37:27I was thinking she sounded a lot like Davina McCall
37:29Until you said
37:30And she drowns young men
37:31Yeah
37:32To reflect the Mary Morgan's oceanic origins
37:34Gaynor will use scuba fabric to create a sheath dress
37:37With a self-drafted hood
37:39Which she will swathe and shift on
37:40To give the effect of water
37:41It all sounds actually very beautiful
37:45Is there anything horrific in the costume itself?
37:48It's just the story
37:49I couldn't do anything horrific
37:50I'm just not
37:51No, you're just too nice, aren't you?
37:52Oh
37:52I don't
37:53For her costume
37:55Well, I'm making a hat
37:57Kaz is creating a different kind of femme fatale
38:00I didn't want to do a sort of sexy female horror movie character
38:06So the idea is a cult high priestess
38:09I wanted to set a tense feeling
38:12That something's going to happen in the film
38:13Don't know if she's good or evil yet
38:15Her high priestess will wear a fitted lined cape dress
38:19In a red satin backed crepe
38:20Finished with a bonnet, gold trim
38:23And an elaborate neck piece
38:25A neck corset
38:27I mean, it is actually already slightly terrifying
38:31And then, is this a cape?
38:33Yes, it's an all-in-one cape and dress
38:35It looks quite elaborate
38:36It's a lot of work
38:37It really feels like proper costume
38:39I loved researching costume designers
38:42And how they went about the process
38:44I mean, Esme's done lots of this
38:45It's all to do with the character
38:47That's where the costume comes from
38:50And the costumes conjured up
38:52For three classic horror movie characters
38:54Nearly a century ago
38:55Are still casting their dark spell
38:57Over the catwalk today
38:59One of the key figures
39:00In defining early horror fashion
39:02Was Vera West
39:04Collaborating with make-up artist Jack Pierce
39:07West's designs for Universal Studios
39:09Set the standard for monster aesthetics
39:12In 1931
39:14Bela Lugosi's Dracula
39:15Became an instant fashion icon
39:17Adapted from his stage costume
39:19His sharp white tie and tails
39:22With high collared cape
39:23Defined the image of vampires for generations
39:26Later in 1931
39:28James Wales Frankenstein
39:30Introduced Frankenstein's monster
39:32Played by Boris Karloff
39:34And created a look
39:35That is instantly recognisable to this day
39:38The leading ladies in these pictures
39:40Were also exquisitely costumed
39:42May Clarke's bridal gown in Frankenstein
39:45Was so popular
39:46That it was replicated for sale
39:48In department stores
39:49In the 1935 follow-up
39:51Bride of Frankenstein
39:52Elsa Lanchester as the monster's mate
39:55Became a horror fashion staple
39:57Her bandage gown
39:58And shocking streak of white hair
40:00Were iconic
40:01Elements of these early horror designs
40:04Continue to influence modern fashion
40:06Avant-garde designers
40:08Like Victor and Rolf
40:09Have drawn on vampire style
40:11For their couture shows
40:12While Christopher Kane and Rodarte
40:14Have looked to Frankenstein's monster
40:17For inspiration
40:18So chic creatures of the night
40:20Can rest assured that horror
40:22Continues to haunt high fashion
40:24Hello?
40:30Hello?
40:31Hello?
40:31Who are you?
40:33Oh
40:33Right, okay
40:35The guy from Scream says you're halfway through
40:38Oh my goodsy aunt
40:40I'm behind
40:41I'm definitely behind
40:42I've just finished the top
40:44These are the trousers
40:45You've made a trouser on the top already?
40:47Yeah
40:47Oh God
40:49I'm just testing my boning channel
40:51Fits my boning?
40:53Could I have my model?
40:54So we're going to try a top on you
40:56It's actually pretty cool
40:57So the way you put it on
40:58Is you kind of have to pull it
41:00Now I've just got to push it down
41:02The judges will be expecting a costume
41:04That fits both their character
41:05Oh that comes up really high up there
41:08She's so scary
41:09And their model
41:11Doesn't that fit nicely?
41:14So she looks beautiful
41:15But if you can breathe in
41:18Yeah
41:18But the more complicated their construction
41:20There will be a little bit of elastic
41:22That attaches here
41:23It needs to be stretchy enough
41:25That it holds up
41:26The less time the sewers will have to add the details
41:28I'm the hairdresser today
41:30Welcome to the salon
41:31Which will bring their creations to life
41:33My corset top fits
41:35I'm really DIYing a casing for this elastic
41:38Because it's stretched out
41:39So she'll be like that
41:41And it'll be all close together and creepy
41:42Oh it's going to be so creepy
41:44I've got these trousers
41:44Which are huge
41:45They're like maternity trousers
41:47If you're having twins
41:49Fun
41:49And then we've got a nice little tunic
41:51I say look
41:51It's huge
41:52Tunic top
41:54Which would actually fit me
41:55That would fit several people
41:56That's a spooky scarecrow
41:59While Kit's straightforward two-piece
42:02The construction of it is pretty simple
42:04And Gaynor's amenable fabric
42:06The dress is made from scuba
42:08Very easy to sew
42:10Mean they can move on to their hoods
42:12I am sewing the hood on
42:14And it's got the chiffon sandwiched in between
42:19This is so fiddly
42:21The other sewers still need to complete the main body of their garments
42:25And now finally on to actually making a dress
42:28I'd rather badly made dress and a well-made horror mask
42:32I wanted to be done with this broderion glaze trim
42:35Half an hour ago
42:36It's got to be done neatly
42:38These are the four parts that make the back of the dress
42:44It's got both princess seams and darts
42:47Could I have chosen a more complicated pattern seriously?
42:50I'm using this kind of twine
43:02But I've also pressed it
43:04To create this really creepy mouth shape
43:06Like that
43:07My corset top is finished
43:09You just have to gather the skirt and add that
43:11And make a hat
43:12It's a lot to do actually
43:14One hour left
43:24An hour
43:25It's going to be tight
43:29The addition of the trim onto the dress
43:32Has taken too long
43:34I knew the hood would be a little fiddly
43:37And I knew I'd need time to do it
43:40Hey Gaynor
43:40I know
43:41Don't you come near me in that
43:42Anybody else really enjoying this?
43:45So much fun
43:45So much fun
43:46It's a lot of skirt
43:47I would like it to be incredibly creepy
43:50I wanted it to be as if a child had made a doll
43:53I mean you know
43:54Chantal generally doesn't look very scary
43:57But I think she could look scary today
43:59That's my prediction
44:00She is meant to be both equal parts sexy and scary
44:03So I'm hoping we nail that
44:05And you've tried it on
44:06Everything fits?
44:08You tried it on
44:08Yes
44:08And was it beautiful and a bit scary?
44:12It was beautiful
44:13Yes
44:14And not at all scary?
44:15No
44:16Not at all
44:17I'm inserting a large invisible zip inside
44:20And then I've made a little
44:22Yes
44:23It's quite scary
44:25It doesn't look like you though
44:26Are you sure?
44:27Yeah
44:27I don't know
44:28I've got two invisible zips to fit
44:30This satin crate fabric's a nightmare
44:33It slips all over the place
44:35This is like trying to sew with I don't know wet fish or something
44:38Ooh
44:39That's not good
44:42My waist seams do not match up on my zip
44:46This is not my best
44:48Still got all of that to do
44:49We're about to start making the over skirt
44:51Very, very simple waistband and then two drapes coming off of it
44:56The invisible zip's in
44:57It's all gathered
44:58I've never done that before
45:00Regretting fabric choices
45:02Regretting pattern choices
45:05I'm really enjoying this challenge
45:07Kaz's looks pretty good
45:09It's a bit of a fault with one of her zips
45:11Yes
45:12I've got another one to go over the top
45:14I'll have to make sure that this one is perfect, won't I?
45:19Gain is getting on pretty well
45:21This chiffon is behaving itself so well
45:24I think the only thing I've got about Gain is
45:29That without the backstory
45:31It is just a really nice, floaty, kind of watery-looking dress
45:36She doesn't look scary, but she is scary
45:38Yasmin, she seemed a bit worried to me about not finishing it
45:44There's no way I can make a hat
45:45But I've got to get this skirt done
45:47Ah! I look bad today
45:56You've got half an hour left
45:58More haste, less speedy
45:59Next thing to do is the sleeves
46:01Because I've got, like, big Edwardian sleeves
46:03Sewing the sleeves and the side seams in one
46:07And this is the last part of construction for the dress
46:11The core bits are done for the garments
46:13It's now distressing time
46:14And then you grab this
46:15You just do this
46:16This is so therapeutic
46:17We've got a dress
46:19I'm actually adding the black trim
46:21This is so satisfying
46:23I've decided I'm not going to use straw
46:25Just because this is giving me the same effect
46:27How's it going?
46:29The bits I've completed are okay
46:31What haven't you completed?
46:32She doesn't have a hat
46:33The big bonnet thing
46:35The big bonnet
46:36That was the bit I liked least
46:37Can you tell that to the judges?
46:38I haven't hemmed it
46:40So I've just trimmed it
46:42If Esme looks inside you, she won't be happy
46:44This is so fun
46:47My biceps are feeling pretty good right now
46:50Only ten minutes left, everyone
46:54Why did I think I could do this?
46:59There's a pin there
47:00Gold trim is going on
47:02I'm going to hand stitch the whole thing on
47:04This is much heavier
47:06I've only sewn a little bit on
47:08Oh no, there's another pin
47:10Nice and creepy
47:11I'm happy with that
47:13This is cool
47:14Yeah, this is working
47:14Go faster
47:16I perhaps should have interfaced the whole of the front of the dress
47:22To take the weight
47:23But spine is on, baby
47:25How long's left?
47:27One minute left, everyone
47:29Get your horrible models dressed
47:31I will lower that as far as it goes
47:33Oops
47:34Oh, it's okay
47:35That's an arm, yeah
47:36Hold it
47:38There is a lot that I'm very disappointed with
47:43I'll just do it loosely for now, yeah
47:46Oh, God
47:48Needles up, sewers
47:51Your time is up
47:53Now that is scary
47:54Yeah, knew it
47:57I'm Mary Morgan
47:59Obviously, I hope they like it
48:01We have a lot of less
48:02Thank you very much
48:04For always being whenever one supporter
48:05Gosh
48:07I feel like mine is the least horrible
48:09Oh, my God
48:11Yes, yes, yes
48:12Oh, that's so scary
48:14Yes
48:23Come on
48:24I think this is superb
48:47It really feels like costume
48:50There's a hint of evil about it
48:52It really reminds me of the evil queen in Snow White
48:56Then the handmaid's tale
48:57I mean, both of those quite sinister
49:00That neck corset
49:03It's curling up in a couple of places where it shouldn't
49:06But the effect of it is stunning
49:08And I really like that you put black round this
49:13Otherwise, it would have looked just part of the dress
49:16This amazing caped dress
49:18The fit of it is lovely
49:20I love this 3D printed scale detail
49:23We've got two zips
49:24One in the cape
49:26That's working well
49:27One in the underdress
49:28Not the most invisible ever
49:30It's a bit wobbly
49:31It's a fabric that isn't easy to sew
49:35I think it looks great
49:36It is really genuinely quite sinister
49:50You're not going to murder me, are you?
49:52Not today
49:53Not today
49:54This looks great
49:57It is a simple top and a pair of trousers
50:00That's perfectly nicely sewn
50:02I just love the face and I love the mouth
50:05There's a real malevolence to the expression that you've created
50:09I love just his sort of lopsided head
50:13The way that you've treated all of the fabrics has worked so, so well
50:18The way you've frayed all the edges
50:20It looks real
50:22It's brilliant
50:23Thank you
50:24I sit by the harbour
50:30The sea calls to me
50:35I really like the story of the Mary Morgan
50:39It feels like water
50:42It moves so nicely
50:43The underdress itself looks really nicely put together
50:47It's skimming the body, but it's not too tight
50:51And then these beautiful, long, aquatic trails
50:54You know, huge amounts of work in edging all of those
50:59I mean, it's difficult to finish these edges
51:02You see how they look a little bit wrinkled
51:07You've drafted this hood yourself
51:09It's got a lovely drape to it
51:11This chiffon is shorter than the sleeve
51:15So you can see this seam
51:17My one concern is it feels really nice
51:19It doesn't necessarily feel like it comes from the world of horror
51:24It's so disturbing
51:36In a brilliant way
51:38I mean, you've done so much work to create the hood
51:41Creating the hair out of wool and then plaiting it
51:44The crooked face
51:46The dress also
51:47It's a creepy-looking dress
51:49The combination of the colour, the gather, the style, the high neck
51:53It looks awkward in the best possible way
51:57I love these
51:58I think they're really cool
52:00You know, the front is creepy, but the back is gory
52:03Just using dyed, scrunched fabric
52:06I can so see this as a character in a horror film
52:11It's absolutely perfect
52:13Oh, thank you
52:14You're the devil in the sky
52:16Oh, yes you are
52:19So we've got another siren luring men to their death
52:29I love the story of La Jablesse
52:31I love the bloody handprint
52:33There's just a hint of horror there
52:36This great big, wide-brimmed hat
52:39Would have just made the whole costume feel more balanced
52:42You've attached all of this broderie on glaze very evenly
52:45The elastic's a little loose on the sleeve
52:47So you put an invisible zip in
52:49Something strange that's happening here
52:52When I put it in, it caught a little bit
52:55I love the way that you've muddied the bottom of the dress
52:58But because you've done it all the way round
53:00It sort of reads like a band of colour
53:02Maybe you just needed some bare patches where there wasn't mud
53:06I wish it all looked a bit more messy and rough
53:11I think without the make-up
53:13It wouldn't feel massively ghoulish
53:17I didn't like yours
53:22I was probably a bit too ambitious
53:25So, yeah, overall disappointed
53:28They didn't seem to think my dress fitted the bill
53:32Movie week has been a very mixed week for me
53:36I've been like this
53:37Because I really needed to prove myself
53:40And I think I did
53:41So, movie week
53:45Has it been a drama, comedy or horror show?
53:48The whole lot
53:49In all the best ways
53:50I think it's been brilliant
53:51I love the made-to-measure
53:52There were great stories behind all of them
53:54But for me, you could see
53:57Orla's scary doll
54:00And Kit's evil scarecrow
54:02Front and centre of a horror film
54:04Kit's
54:05I loved the face
54:07The twisted smile
54:09It was brilliant
54:10And Orla had put so much thought
54:13Into every element
54:14There was creepiness
54:16And then there was gore
54:17All in one costume
54:18And it was amazing
54:19So, we've got two very strong contenders
54:21For Garment of the Week
54:22Is it going to be tricky to decide between them?
54:25Very
54:25Because they're both scary
54:28But in different ways
54:29So...
54:31Who is in trouble?
54:32Yasmin's and Gaynor's
54:34I think the story was lovely
54:35But I think the costume didn't read instantly
54:38Horror character
54:39They just were not in the same league as the others
54:42So for me, I think sadly
54:44I know who I think should be going home
54:46Me too
54:47As we approach the final curtain of movie week
54:53We've had suspense
54:54We've had plot twists
54:55But I won't leave you on a cliffhanger
54:57Over to Patrick
54:58Our Garment of the Week this week
55:00Is...
55:02Not one garment
55:04What?
55:05But two garments
55:06No!
55:07Really?
55:08Oh my goodness!
55:09Yay!
55:10Yay!
55:17Aula and Kit
55:18We couldn't separate them
55:19They are so, so horrific
55:21In all the right ways
55:23Well done to both of you
55:25Brilliant
55:25Yes
55:25Very, very scary
55:27Now it goes without saying
55:28That you are all exceptional
55:30Next week is the semi-final
55:32And we can only take four sewers through with us
55:36The person who is leaving us this week is...
55:42Gaynor
55:43Fine, that's fine
55:49That's great
55:50I love it
55:51Oh, it's been absolutely amazing
55:53I have loved it
55:54We're going to hold this together now
55:56You've done so well
55:57You've been so proud of yourself
55:59I've had such a wonderful time
55:59I hope so
56:00Someone's got to go
56:02And yeah
56:03It was definitely my time
56:05Thank you so much
56:06Well done
56:07Thank you
56:08I think she will admit
56:09That it was the right decision
56:10That she went today
56:11But she's such a warm and generous person
56:13And so, so talented
56:15And she will absolutely
56:17Be genuinely missed
56:18Yes, so
56:20One up my bucket list
56:22Oh my gosh
56:23It's actually a really nice thing
56:24To share Garment of the Week with someone
56:26You get to celebrate together
56:27Both of them were brilliant
56:33So we let them both
56:35Get garments of the week
56:37Wow
56:38I'm so happy to be through
56:40To the semi-finals
56:41I didn't think I'd get a pass week five
56:42But here we are
56:43I've been watching the show
56:45Since I was 12
56:46So to be here
56:48Is just wild to me
56:50Next time
56:54So cute
56:55It's 1920s week
56:57It's going to be a flopper dress
56:58Not a flap address
56:59The competition heats up
57:00In the pattern
57:01I'm glad that I'm next to you
57:02Because this way I'm actually racing you
57:03Bangin'
57:04The transformation pays tribute to the polo shirt
57:06They just remind me of school
57:08And the made-to-measure celebrate events of the decade
57:11One of their best parties ever
57:13Who'll be the bees' needs?
57:15So in the 1920s
57:16And who'll
57:17Stressed
57:18Make a dog's dinner
57:19It's a mess
57:20Oh shh
