00:01Authorities in Burkina Faso say they've foiled a new coup attempt.

00:06The alleged plot was uncovered late Saturday night, before it could be carried out.

00:12Officials say the situation is now under control, as the country remains on high alert.

00:19On January 3rd, at 11pm, a plan was in place to destabilise the country.

00:27This was to be carried out through a series of targeted assassinations of civilian and military authorities,

00:33beginning with the neutralisation of comrade Captain Ibrahim Traore, head of state,

00:39President of Faso, either at point-blank range or by an operation to bomb his residence.

00:46The minister says investigations are ongoing, with arrests already underway.

00:58Authorities say they are closing in on everyone involved in the alleged plot,

01:02and that they will face the full force of the law.

01:15thanks to their professionalism Burkina Faso has for the upteeth time for attempts at destabilisation.

01:23It's the latest in a series of alleged plots targeting the Genta leader, who himself seized power in 2022,
