00:00the loser streak is over for the New York Knicks they get a 123 to 111 victory over the LA Clippers

00:20here at Madison Square Garden panic to put that on pause for right now Knicks had lost four straight

00:26coming into this one they get themselves a big win I'm going to share with you the three things that

00:30I really liked from this game or really observed from this game with the New York Knicks number one

00:35for me the Knicks defense showed up hadn't seen it in quite some time over the last 10 games the

00:41Knicks have been one of the five worst teams in the NBA in terms of defense the defense showed up

00:46tonight they held the Clippers to 111 points was it a little shaky early on sure but they hunkered down

00:52and were able to get the win one of the things that we saw in Detroit on Monday night was the

00:56Knicks gave up 52 points in the paint they only gave up 44 tonight but here's the real turnaround

01:02for the Knicks defense which came into this game ranked 17th in the league in defensive rating

01:06they held the Clippers to 45 percent shooting from the field that's the lowest field goal percentage

01:12they've held an opponent to since the NBA cup title game against the Spurs so the Knicks won this game

01:17you can talk all about the offense and we'll get into that but defense was the key and at the top of

01:22this press conference Mike Brown talked exactly about that defend the way that we defended you

01:26know you applaud all our guys you know OG obviously has a tough assignment every night but he guarded

01:34Kawhi quite a bit tonight he was fantastic trying to be physical and in challenging shots without

01:41fouling McHale also guarded James Harden and did a heck of a job doing that we even had a lot of other

01:48guys switch on to James during Clarkson guarding him for a little bit and so to try to keep him off the

01:53free throw line throughout the course of the game like we did tonight while trying to have a physical

01:58presence was fantastic I applaud all of our guys Deuce ended up being a defensive player of the game

02:04you know he had three or four deflections obviously there was a size disadvantage with James but he

02:12did a great job on James you can't you know you're not going to stop him you just hope he misses some

02:16of those shots and he did but just tried to get up underneath him so I just like our overall competitive

02:22spirit tonight throughout the course of the game even at halftime we told our team hey man you guys are

02:27competing we might be down but you're competing and keep that up and one of the telltale signs of it is

02:32you know there were four 50 50 balls or four loose balls and and our guys got on the ground and got

02:38after the loose balls so we got all four of the 50 50 balls defense wins games can win championships

02:44and that was definitely impressive something the Knicks have to fix and it'll be interesting to see

02:47if this can continue going forward as they need to trend upward in defense but the offense had been

02:53struggling to particularly without Josh Hart but in this game the thing that stands out to me is

02:58the Knicks were moving the ball 31 assist in this game that's the most assist they've had in the game

03:05since right before the new year New Year's Eve against the Spurs that loss they had 32 dimes in

03:10that game 31 tonight they moved the ball they shared it really well Carthy Towns a season high

03:15seven assists in this game we'll have more on him later but that's the thing you like the Knicks made

03:19shots they shot 50 percent from the field 42 percent from downtown but they moved the ball really well

03:25it's the kind of Christmas that you had not seen from them in the last couple of games you could

03:28talk about the game against Detroit where Jalen Brunson had zero assist and we know about the

03:33six turnovers Carthy Towns he had six points and six turnovers but today the Knicks took care of the

03:38ball they moved the ball and that was very instrumental to them getting their offense right back on track

03:43we we have to keep moving the basketball I mean we we had 31 assists 31 assists on 47 uh uh made buckets

03:52and you know that's fantastic to have 31 assists but again uh we're more than capable of it because

03:58all of our guys can pass dribble and shoot the basketball and it showed tonight now we can't

04:03talk about this game I mentioned him before with his seven dimes we got to talk about Carl Anthony

04:08Towns Carl Anthony Towns was tremendous in this game he had 20 points it's not a big line he had a

04:13double double he's actually close to a triple double with those seven assists but the thing for me is he's

04:18had a rough start in this game and we know about the rough game that he had in Detroit I mentioned

04:22the six points and the six turnovers but you wanted to see him bounce back he was continuously

04:26aggressive he looked for others he had 10 of his 20 points in the fourth quarter four of those came

04:32during the 8-0 run to start the quarter so Cat bounced back Mike Brown has talked about adversity

04:37he said the entire team needed to bounce back but nobody probably nobody needed to bounce back more

04:43than Carl Anthony Towns and he definitely showed up tonight it's the kind of game you want to see from

04:47him it wasn't just the 20 points that he scored it's not even just the seven dimes that he dropped

04:53and when you heard Mike Brown after the game he talked about how Carl Anthony Towns played like an

04:57all-star played a complete game in the way the Knicks needed him and he found ways to contribute to

05:02the team and contribute to a win what I liked about him he was impactful defensively he rebounded you know

05:0911 rebounds seven assists and so the nine points definitely help that's what he does and he helped

05:17us create that separation by doing that but I just don't want to belittle the fact that he did what

05:23all-stars do what great players do he found other ways throughout the course of the ball game to

05:28continue to help our team win and man that that's fantastic to see because he's more than capable as

05:35good as he is one other thing I know I know it's supposed to be three but I'm add one more one other

05:39thing I think of note in this game is the bench gave the Knicks a huge spark they had 26 points

05:43off the bench Jordan Clarkson at 12th we got to talk about Gershon Yabusele probably one of his best

05:47games of the season eight points in 13 minutes grabbed a bunch of rebounds as well too was pretty

05:53good on defense and he looks like he's starting to come into form that could be huge for the Knicks

05:57whether he's on this roster or not but the bench definitely sparked them especially when they needed

06:02some points in that second quarter and helped them really get back into this game so what's up next for

06:07the Knicks well this ends their losing streak they've ended it's now ended at four they get a

06:13win and now they head on the road for four games out on the west coast starting with Phoenix on Friday

06:18night so the Knicks really needed to get this they get their first win here in 2026 it'll be now

06:24interesting to see if they can build on this the rest of the way but if you're a Knicks fan right now

06:28you got to feel good about the vibes of what the Knicks showed here in this game now it's just a matter of

06:33they face some adversity they bounce back it's just one game they got to put together more we've seen

06:38how good this team could be can they keep this defensive effort that we saw tonight can they

06:43continue to move the ball those are going to be the questions to watch with the Knickerbockers

06:47as they move to the west coast that's going to do it from here at Madison Square Garden Knicks win
