00:00Next camp.
00:02Hello!
00:05All right.
00:06Welcome to the white camp.
00:07It's very minty, fresh.
00:09You're just banging on glass, man.
00:10It's a big window.
00:11Don't let it fall.
00:12Can you guys sit down and read me a nighttime story?
00:15It is so weltering.
00:17We got a list for you.
00:19I'm not accepting lists.
00:21Hi, guys.
00:22Hi, guys.
00:24Oh, wow.
00:25Look at that.
00:25Oh, my goodness.
00:26That is incredible.
00:30What are you doing at my brother's camp?
00:34We've already done this one.
00:36Still looks great.
00:37It's a nice view across the way.
00:39Yeah.
00:40You have a telescope.
00:41What are we doing?
00:42Seriously.
00:43Showing you our next camp.
00:44Today, we are at the Eldridge Camp on Covsey.
00:48See that mint green one there?
00:50Oh, yeah.
00:52That is owned by Walter White.
00:54Him and his wife bought it.
00:55She passed away.
00:56And so it's him and his cousins who come up here a lot.
00:59What?
01:00Because you can look pretty much across the cove.
01:02I see people.
01:03Hello!
01:04To where we're headed.
01:06Are we walking over there?
01:07We're probably going to take that boat that's right there.
01:09Perfect.
01:10It's going to either be really good or really bad,
01:12because I've been sitting at them for 50 years.
01:14Well, this is new, Chase.
01:15We got on the boat.
01:16We know where we're going.
01:17That's a first.
01:18So we're going to see how they think about us.
01:20What they think about the neighbors?
01:22Yeah, what they think about the neighbors.
01:23We're going to meet our neighbors for the first time.
01:25Do you think we'll ever reach my goal of fixing every camp on this lake?
01:28No, I don't think we will.
01:30What about our descendants?
01:31You've got to start learning a lot of history about this lake.
01:33Yeah, you did.
01:34How many camps are on the lake?
01:35So, at one point in the late 1800s, there was an inn on this side of the lake,
01:40and there was a hotel on the other side of the lake.
01:43And in the late 1800s, you would take the trolley from downtown Augustus,
01:47and then you'd take a steamship across the lake.
01:49That was the only form of transportation.
01:53And that loon layer over there is named Marty.
01:58See?
01:59You're making great tour guide.
02:01Here they come.
02:02All right.
02:05Nice landing.
02:06Like a pro, like a pro.
02:10Hi.
02:11Hi, neighbors.
02:13A little different view from over here, right?
02:15Yeah.
02:16So, it's interesting that the cabin masters have a place across the cove.
02:20We see them coming and going and, you know, wave hi once in a while.
02:24Nice to see you from this side of the lake.
02:27We're very excited to have them come and revamp this house.
02:33Tell us a little bit about the history of the camp.
02:35My wife and I purchased the camp in 2005.
02:37Katie, my cousin, came up a couple of years later with her husband,
02:40and they basically stayed with us for five summers.
02:43Nice!
02:44Yes.
02:45So, we had a great time, and then they ended up purchasing a house on the other side of the lake.
02:48Oh, no kidding.
02:49Yeah.
02:50Unfortunately, in 2015, my wife passed away.
02:52Oh, sorry to hear that.
02:54And then my other cousin, Deanna, decided, you know, she wanted to come up and check the place out,
02:59and then she fell in love with it, and so now her family comes up.
03:03So, it's a big family affair and love boating and water skiing and waving to you guys on the other shore over there.
03:10Perfect.
03:11Wonderful.
03:12What's not to love?
03:13Yeah.
03:14We grew up with a lake house in New Hampshire.
03:16So, for me, it was a no-brainer.
03:18My kids love it here.
03:20It just feels like home.
03:21Tell us a little bit about the camp.
03:22It needs a little work.
03:23It's getting to a point where things are starting to fail a little bit.
03:27Your AstroTurf is starting to...
03:29Yeah, well, there's a...
03:30Get bossy.
03:31Raw, yeah.
03:32Yeah, there's a big hole in the deck that we have a rug over it.
03:34That's the main way.
03:35Yeah.
03:36Putting another carpet over a carpet over a carpet.
03:38The side looks great on this side, I guess.
03:39I mean, it's in good shape.
03:40Other than the color.
03:41The color, yeah.
03:42I'm glad you don't like the color.
03:44I like natural wood for the most part.
03:47Not mint green, but...
03:49A color or more like a natural stain.
03:51Something that looks like it fits in, like a dark green or a brown or a natural, yeah.
03:56This side's fairly high, but the back, you can see that the property is sloped.
03:59Oh, yeah.
04:00The house, yeah.
04:01So, the street side is almost on the dirt.
04:03So, maybe if we could get it up off the ground like you guys do a lot.
04:07It's got a new roof on it, so that's...
04:08Fantastic.
04:09Yep.
04:10We'd like even more, Walter.
04:11Let's get inside and check it out.
04:12Come on in.
04:13All right.
04:14Oh, I like this.
04:17Cool.
04:18I like it.
04:19Oh, it has an awesome feel inside.
04:21It does.
04:22This camp's wearing a disguise, because the outside looks like a house, and you figure
04:26a sheetrock and carpet inside.
04:27This is a fun camp.
04:29But it's an old school camp inside.
04:31I agree with what Ryan said.
04:33That's a first.
04:34All right, so fill us in on what you are picturing in here.
04:39So, on this side of it, I would like to try to see if we could remove this wall as lovely
04:44as it is.
04:45Just give you more open space instead of it chopped up.
04:48Yeah.
04:49Redo the windows on the porch.
04:51Some insulation.
04:52Make it a little more comfortable in the colder months.
04:54Sure.
04:55So you've got two entrances right now.
04:57Yep.
04:58Do you use that entrance much?
04:59So we don't use that entrance at all, because it's just not very safe right now.
05:04Kitchen cabinets.
05:05I like them.
05:06I'm not going to lie.
05:09You don't.
05:10It's okay.
05:11We can have different tastes.
05:12Just when you think you've seen it all, though.
05:13I've never seen cabinets like that.
05:14Why don't you guys take a look around?
05:15We're going to pop outside, and we'll see you a little bit.
05:17Okay.
05:18Perfect.
05:19What is wrong with you guys?
05:20You don't think they're pretty?
05:21I didn't say that.
05:22They're unique.
05:23I don't even know what you'd call it.
05:25Look, it's woven.
05:26I'd call it Ashley's now.
05:28So two bedrooms.
05:33You're going to stay two bedrooms?
05:34Yep.
05:39Okay.
05:40The sink is right behind the door.
05:42You can't even open it all the way.
05:44This is a tiny bathroom.
05:46On the interior of the camp, we'll remove the wall that separates the front porch
05:49and the main living area to open the place up.
05:51We'll build out a hallway so that we can reconfigure the bunk bedroom for a larger bathroom,
05:55and we'll leave the second bedroom as is.
05:57What a cute little can.
05:58Did you see those dandelions growing on the deck?
06:00That's not good.
06:02On the exterior, we'll Jack and Level tear off that old mint green siding
06:06and replace it with comb-faced shiplap stained brown so that it blends in better with the surroundings.
06:11New deck, new windows, and we'll get rid of the old side entrance and create a new one on the road side of the camp for better access.
06:17Yeah, so I think we've got a really good idea of what you're looking for.
06:21What do you have for a budget for the renovations?
06:24$50,000.
06:25Okay.
06:26And what's the timeframe to get the work done?
06:28Uh, we will hope in 12 weeks.
06:30Okay.
06:31I think we just need a set of keys.
06:33Okay.
06:34I have a key.
06:35All right.
06:36We'll take it.
06:38All right.
06:39Nice to finally put a face to the camp.
06:41Yeah.
06:42And we've got to call the guys.
06:44All right.
06:45Welcome to the white camp.
06:46Sweet.
06:47Yay.
06:48Love the color.
06:49It's a very minty, fresh.
06:50Take it with you.
06:51No.
06:52Demo day at the white camp.
07:07You'll see on the front side, the deck is gonzoed.
07:10Siding is past its prime.
07:13All siding is going to be stripped off.
07:14We need to get this backside out of the dirt.
07:17That side deck can get out of there because they want to move the doorway to that center
07:21window there.
07:22Yep.
07:23There's a wall in between the sun porch and the living area.
07:25They want to open it up, make it one big space and go from there.
07:29Cool.
07:30Very cool.
07:31Let's do it.
07:32Yeah.
07:33I mean, we're going to just try and get all the vinyl siding peeled off.
07:35Morning.
07:36Good morning.
07:37How's it going, Dixie?
07:39Good.
07:40Keeping that?
07:41Yeah.
07:42Get as much torn out as we can.
07:45I think I have your shoes on today.
07:47Why are you wearing my shoes?
07:48I didn't mean to, but I was in my truck.
07:50I was only about three miles down the road and I realized.
07:53It kind of looks nice like that.
07:55What is wrong with you?
07:59I'm practicing my ballerina.
08:01Good morning.
08:02What's up?
08:03You like this cabinet?
08:04I do like it.
08:05I just want the doors.
08:06So today I made sure that I showed up to the job site on time.
08:11Have you ever seen a cabinet like this, Jedi?
08:13You haven't.
08:14I haven't.
08:15Oh, I got one.
08:16Because I wanted to make sure that they saved those cabinet doors for me.
08:21Maybe like a little, a little like hutch.
08:27So originally I was just going to kind of grab them.
08:29I have a present for you.
08:30What?
08:31And hopefully use them down the line someday.
08:35Oh.
08:36Sorry.
08:39I fell off the ladder.
08:40But as Chase was tearing off the siding, we realized there was some really cool old wood down there.
08:47It was great color.
08:48So he said, why don't we build the hutch out of this wood?
08:51Are you going to bring it to the back 40 or to your house?
08:54Back 40.
08:55And your doors.
08:56Chase and I haven't worked on a project together in a long time.
09:00Oh!
09:06Hanging out inside, buddy.
09:08It's exactly what my dad and him used to do.
09:11So I think it's really fun.
09:16Will you stand inside there and make sure this window doesn't fall inward?
09:19Oh, great.
09:20What are you doing?
09:21Wait, wait, wait, wait.
09:22Wait, wait, wait, wait.
09:23Oh, it's going.
09:26It's moving.
09:27Wait, I'm already going on the other side.
09:30Jedi.
09:32Jedi.
09:33I don't like this.
09:34You're giving me stress.
09:35You're just banging on glass, man.
09:37It's a big window.
09:38Don't let it fall.
09:39Too low.
09:40That thing is wiggling.
09:41You put the couch over here so it falls on the couch.
09:43We don't work in today.
09:44There's a lot going on.
09:45The whole thing was wiggling pretty hard, huh?
09:46Yeah.
09:47Jedi and I, I mean, we had some pretty scary stuff to work with.
09:48We got to remove those large pieces of glass so we can get this wall down and really open
09:49up the main camp and the sun porch.
09:50I could probably cut down this stud right here.
09:51Okay.
09:52Then it glued in there pretty tight and it's old glass was pretty darn thick.
09:57So we decided to cut around it and take some of the trim off.
09:58Now you want to cut across the top and really try not to break it.
10:03Oh, fudger.
10:04All right, no.
10:05We're free.
10:06Not only because it's dangerous but because it'll also be a big mess to clean up.
10:07Let me see if I can lean it towards you just ahead of you.
10:12Oh, no.
10:13No, no, no.
10:14I can't do it.
10:15All right.
10:16No, no.
10:17No, no.
10:18I can't do it.
10:19All right.
10:20I can't do it.
10:21It's hard.
10:22I can't do it.
10:23I can't do it.
10:24No, no, no.
10:25I can't do it.
10:26No, no.
10:27No, no.
10:28I don't do it.
10:29No, no, no.
10:30No, no, no.
10:31No, no, no.
10:32Oh, dude, just a hair.
10:33Oh, hee, hee, hee.
10:37Uh-uh.
10:38Okay, you grab that side.
10:40Yeah.
10:40Top end bottle.
10:41Oh, yeah.
10:42I'm going to come through the window, but somehow we took it out correctly.
10:47Glass coming through.
10:49It didn't break until it was in the dump trailer.
10:51Ready?
10:51One, two, three.
10:54Didn't even crash.
10:55Before the day, if I would have had to bet, we would have broken that glass, I'd have
10:57put all my money on.
10:58Something's getting broken.
10:59I was going to say, I bet we couldn't do that again, but we're going to find out.
11:01You're going to have to.
11:02We saved that glass.
11:04We got the second one on the trailer, which is perfect.
11:08All in all, today's been just a great day.
11:11Ready?
11:13Yeah, baby.
11:17Beautiful.
11:18Who's got a hammer?
11:19I'm going to give that to my sister.
11:21That's so nice of you.
11:22Everyone is just getting a long day.
11:23Oh, there's some more right there.
11:25I don't know.
11:26It's like family camp day or something.
11:31It's a nice one.
11:33It is a nice door.
11:34It just warms my heart to see all the crew's working so hard.
11:38Are you working?
11:38I'm just taking the nails out of these boards so that when we go to build the hutch, we'll
11:42be ready to go.
11:43And I look out, you know, all the guys, we're full motion.
11:46Everything's going on.
11:47So hot.
11:51And to see Ashley out there just in her work, working hard too on her own project.
11:57It was a beautiful sight.
11:58I got goosebumps maybe somewhere.
12:01Hi, Ed.
12:02So bad.
12:04There's brown tail all over these boards.
12:06No, I have duct tape in my truck.
12:07You should go put on that big, thick tape.
12:09It's right in the front seat.
12:10Okay.
12:11We thought we were over the brown tail moth, but there's remnants here and it's getting
12:16some of our staff.
12:17My neck is on fire.
12:19Mine is too.
12:20Oh yeah, you got it bad too.
12:22So what happens is the moths, they started on the coast and they say three or four years
12:26they travel.
12:26So they traveled through here like four years ago.
12:28I knew it was as soon as we started.
12:30But their hairs stick around on stuff and like Ashley gets a bed.
12:33So she'll have to go get duct tape.
12:34Ashley, go get the duct tape.
12:35We'll give them a demonstration.
12:36And that's the best way to get them out.
12:38You put the duct tape on and rip it off.
12:40Rub, rub, rub, rub, rub, rub, rotten.
12:45Ah, it is awful.
12:47It feels like poison ivy.
12:48Oh yeah, that's a problem.
12:50That's going to take some serious duct tape.
12:51I know, you get it.
12:52Yes, if you get some tape.
12:53Come on, come on.
12:55And you put it on and then you rip it off.
12:57It pulls the fibers out of your skin.
13:00What should I got?
13:02This side?
13:04This.
13:05Feels good.
13:06Because otherwise they just stay there and continue to irritate it.
13:09Ah.
13:09That felt good.
13:11It did.
13:12Spring right now.
13:13We've got the black flies.
13:15We've got the brown tail.
13:16But you know what?
13:16We do have a beautiful day.
13:21Okay, now I need a new shirt.
13:24So much of your quiet time on the porch, Ed.
13:27Yeah, you guys are disturbing my peace.
13:29It's kind of choppy in there.
13:32So they'd like us to get rid of the wall between the porch and the main living space.
13:36Hey, look.
13:37Look what's in the wall.
13:38What, a mouse?
13:39Tools.
13:41Look at that little baby tool.
13:42To kind of give it a more open feel and let more light in.
13:47Oh, yeah.
13:48Come on, Jedi.
13:50We came, we saw, we demo.
13:52Good job, guys.
13:53Doesn't look like the same place, does it?
13:55Not at all.
13:56And the best thing is you've got a job site fridge.
13:59We're getting smarter.
13:59It only took us eight years to realize.
14:01Keep it all lit and save the fridge.
14:03Getting the wall out of that front room from the porch to the kitchen area is just huge.
14:07Making that all one space doubles in size.
14:11Dixie and I got into the brown tail today.
14:14Some of us are taking it better than others.
14:19What's next?
14:20Start underneath.
14:21Repost it, jacket level, replace the rot.
14:24We'll get windows ordered ASAP because really nothing's changing window size, so it should go fairly quickly.
14:32Nice work, guys.
14:32Nice work, everybody.
14:33I need to go home and get rid of this brown tail.
14:35It's the worst.
14:37All right, let me slide it past this stuff.
14:57Nope.
14:58Nope, just can't get an angle of it.
15:00Things are moving quickly at the white camp.
15:02Jacking and leveling.
15:03Well, I guess it doesn't matter.
15:04You think we've got a big bar right under this?
15:07Let's just leave it.
15:08We should be able to twist it into place, right?
15:10As long as it's there.
15:11Yeah.
15:12And however far they stick out, they stick out for now, right?
15:15Yeah.
15:15Steve's been leading this crew, and there was a little bit more rot than we expected.
15:21Oh, no.
15:24Oh, no.
15:25Oh, no.
15:25It was definitely sitting down in the dirt, wasn't breathing, and powder post beetles got
15:30into it.
15:34Chainsaw carpentry.
15:35So I'm here just helping to get all the sills replaced.
15:40So that will go there.
15:43So that they can safely keep jacking.
15:46We'll get it up to the height we want it.
15:57Marvelous.
16:00Get all the posts replaced.
16:04Carrying beams.
16:06Get everything good and solid.
16:10Frame up the new bathroom, the new bedroom.
16:13And build a new deck.
16:25Right there.
16:40There we go.
16:43Good ladybug picnic.
17:04Morning, guys.
17:05Morning.
17:06Oh, it looks good.
17:08Oh, cedar posts.
17:09Looks wicked good.
17:10Hey, dog.
17:11Hiya.
17:11So it's week four at the white camp.
17:15You like it?
17:16Yeah, I do.
17:18And progress is moving along quickly.
17:22And very nicely.
17:25Camp has been jacked, reposted, leveled out.
17:31Doug's here working on plumbing.
17:32Practice my break dance rule.
17:34All the interior framing has been changed around.
17:38Bathroom moved to the side.
17:41New bedrooms framed out.
17:43Wall's been taken out.
17:44New windows framed in.
17:45Now it's one big room.
17:47And new kitchen will be over here.
17:50Now we're getting ready for electricians for spray foam.
17:54New deck is on the camp.
17:57Nice and solid.
17:58And today we're working on siding, getting ready for lattice, and finishing off the deck.
18:07Marvelous.
18:08Yeah, right now Sam and I are putting our ballasts up here on the railing.
18:14These guys did a great job building this thing.
18:16Things nice and solid, sturdy, secure.
18:18It's going to give it a nice new look once these cedar ballasts are in.
18:29All right.
18:30Yeah, so Maddie and I are putting in our framing for our lattice.
18:39So that fancy tool just turns your drill at a 90 degree angle so you can get in these tight spots.
18:43It's all about having the right tool.
18:48Yeah, perfect.
18:50So having that one little tool probably saved us a lot of aggravation.
18:54But it's coming together really quick.
19:02Dougie!
19:03That's going to go with this.
19:06We don't work in today.
19:07There's a lot going on.
19:08We got to a point where we're going to be in Doug's way.
19:18Dougie!
19:21Dougie!
19:22He can't hit us.
19:24Dougie!
19:31Hey, Doug, do you want me to move that waddy down to the corner if we're going to frame it in?
19:34It's going over there somewhere.
19:36We don't work in today.
19:36I've got ready for the lattice.
19:38We got to a point where we're going to be in Doug's way.
19:40Okay, so let's push it back.
19:42Yeah.
19:42I just see these little legs coming out.
19:44Are you the wicked witch of the West or the nice witch of the East?
19:49You're not quite sure?
19:51I'm not sure.
19:52It depends on the phase of the moon, I guess.
19:55That says four and a half.
19:58I need the...
19:59I've got to get ruby slippers.
20:00Look at this place.
20:08It looks great.
20:09It's awesome.
20:10Hi, honey.
20:11Good boy.
20:12Good boy.
20:13Got some ruby slippers?
20:15Oh, yeah.
20:15There we go.
20:16Come here.
20:17Good boys.
20:18Come here.
20:19Come here.
20:20Come here.
20:21You give what you asked for.
20:23He really picked up his day.
20:24Good job, guys.
20:26Good job.
20:27I wish I was home.
20:29I wish I was home.
20:31I'm not really sure how that happened.
20:34Steve, what do you want us to do today?
20:36Just chill.
20:37Chill?
20:37I can chill.
20:38Probably the good witch Ashley.
20:39No, no, no.
20:43Dixie, look at your ride.
20:45You can borrow it.
20:47Where are you going?
20:48It's going to go over here and sweep the floors.
20:49Actually, I was going to do this so you fall asleep.
20:53When I got there today, Steve Colby told me to chill.
20:56Do you have any blankets in your truck?
20:58No.
20:58And he's the boss today, and that's what I did.
21:01That might be a pull-out couch.
21:02Now you're talking.
21:03Dixie, look at this.
21:05You didn't even discover this part.
21:07I was on the couch.
21:08Next thing you know, Jedi discovered it was a pull-out couch.
21:11Turns into a bed.
21:12Now we're talking, people.
21:14What does it matter with you?
21:15Can you guys sit down and read me a nighttime story?
21:18You want some glasses so you don't, the sun doesn't?
21:21Yeah.
21:22And some water.
21:23Some water.
21:24Oh, a tea.
21:25Hot tea.
21:25An apple.
21:27Apple juice.
21:27I love apple juice.
21:30Ashley!
21:31Yeah!
21:31Oh, to chill.
21:33You told me to chill.
21:34No, we've got to get the couch out.
21:35No more chilling.
21:36It's got to go.
21:37Where's it going?
21:38Right in the back.
21:40Yeah, so you gave me the job to chill, but then you actually did give me another job.
21:43Steve, this is a bad idea.
21:45We had to get rid of the couch.
21:46Would you like to take this home with you?
21:54Look at this.
21:55Give me a time for side business.
21:57Somebody want to guide Smitty so he doesn't fall off?
21:59It's a big drop.
22:00Two feet drop.
22:02Yep.
22:03Look out, Francis.
22:06Nice.
22:07We're in.
22:09Where do you want the windows?
22:10In the back of the truck.
22:11And then I had to get up on the truck.
22:13Oh.
22:15Ah!
22:17Ah!
22:18I actually did a lot today.
22:20Oh.
22:21Okay.
22:22I did not chill for, like, probably an hour.
22:26Ashley, you know what you should do?
22:28What?
22:29Take your pocket and sew it on upside down so you can lean the shovel in there and it'll hold you up.
22:33That's a great idea.
22:34Ovilus.
22:37It's all about being productive.
22:39You guys, it's a gorgeous day and you guys are going to miss it by working.
22:44We got a job to do.
22:47Summer's for playing.
22:49Winter is for working.
22:57Last board.
23:00Overall, Steve said I did a fantastic job.
23:02This is looking good.
23:03It looks so much better.
23:04Oh, yeah.
23:05It looks awesome.
23:06Oh, yeah.
23:07Oh, absolutely.
23:09I love that comb face siding.
23:11Comb face?
23:11Comb face.
23:12What does comb face mean?
23:13It just has a texture to it.
23:15I think it holds the stain better when it's textured, too.
23:18It's going to be way better to look at from Ryan's brother's camp.
23:21Better than that mint green siding.
23:22Yeah, it's going to look a lot better.
23:23So what's next here?
23:25Next is continuous siding.
23:27Get the lattice up.
23:28Sweet.
23:29Pine it up.
23:30All right, well, everyone, thanks for chilling.
23:31Let's go home.
23:31We have a nice camp to look at from across the world.
23:33We have a tea time.
23:34We have.
23:37Bye.
23:37Tea and comfort.
23:39Green tea.
23:40Ashley and I are going to go golfing.
23:42I'm not going golfing.
23:43Grab that into the door.
23:54We're not going to?
23:55They're going to go in, I guess, maybe rest up against either a shed or something or a tree.
24:02So we're getting close to being wrapped up at the white camp.
24:05Oh, the sun's coming out.
24:09Exterior's pretty much done.
24:12You got that one?
24:17Interior walls are all closed in.
24:23The electricians have been here.
24:30Do you want to just go around with them and pick up any trash just so it doesn't get blown into the lake?
24:35Yeah.
24:35Francis dropped a load of crushed stone.
24:37I dropped Fletcher and Sam off today.
24:40The main objective is we need to fill in the stairs, we need to fill in the deck.
24:43You've got wheelbarrows, there's shovels, there's rakes.
24:48So I've got those guys working here today.
24:54Putting down some crushed stone.
24:58Marvellous.
25:05All righty, here we go.
25:10All right, we've got the cabinet doors.
25:12Cabinets, my favorite cabinets in this beautiful old siding.
25:16Today Chase and I are at the wood shop.
25:18Look, that's going to look beautiful together.
25:20To work on our custom project for the White Camp.
25:22What doors are we using?
25:25We've got this set right here, right?
25:28That's too low.
25:30We might actually want to use these.
25:31Okay.
25:32Because we're going to build a base.
25:34Yeah.
25:34Because I think if we built a base, put those in there.
25:37Yeah, that would be too big.
25:38It'd be too tall.
25:40So base, and then we'll have like a little bookcase.
25:44So when we were at the White Camp, I really loved the doors on the kitchen cabinets.
25:47What is wrong with you guys?
25:48You don't think they're pretty?
25:49I didn't say that.
25:50They're unique.
25:51So we removed them all.
25:52Hanging out inside, buddy.
25:54And then we discovered the old siding.
25:57Kind of looks nice like that.
25:59And we really like that.
26:00And then came up with the idea of building a hutch.
26:02This is exactly what dad would do.
26:05Exactly.
26:06You're just like your father.
26:07Something that my dad and Chase used to build all the time.
26:11This one has a hole in it.
26:12That's the top.
26:14You don't care that the top has a hole in it?
26:16That's character.
26:19Isn't that convenient?
26:22Get jiggy with it.
26:25Yeah, I mean, really, we had to build it around the doors.
26:28Hold that right there, would you?
26:30We wanted to reincorporate the doors.
26:33We had specific sizes.
26:34Yeah, 36.
26:35So that gave us our measurements for the base.
26:38That's like I'm playing the piano.
26:39Working all the day, all the day, all the day.
26:43Are you helping, or?
26:45Yeah, I'm figuring out how we're going to attach these.
26:47And we kind of went up from there.
26:49So Benny and I got started right away building the upper part of the hutch
26:53to show off the siding
26:56while Chase trimmed out the frame for the cabinet doors.
27:01And we're going to attach these.
27:04Nope.
27:05That works.
27:06Looks good to me.
27:07Looked good to you.
27:08Then we attach it to the base.
27:16And added some of that beautiful siding to the frame.
27:19Is it going to fit?
27:31It fits perfect.
27:32Oh, perfect.
27:33All right.
27:40Set her right down.
27:43Gently.
27:43Gently.
27:48Okay.
27:53Beautiful.
27:56Nice.
28:00This is a luxury item.
28:02A luxury piece, if you will.
28:04First time we used to crown molding on a job I know of here.
28:07Okay, here we go.
28:13Ready for the reveal.
28:15It's a reveal party.
28:21Ta-da!
28:22That looks nice.
28:24Oh, I love it.
28:25That does look nice.
28:26It looks really nice.
28:27See, I really like it a lot.
28:29Do you like it a lot?
28:30Yeah.
28:30Came out good.
28:31It's solid.
28:31It's unique.
28:33It reincorporated a lot of the old camp.
28:35Now we just have to sand the edges.
28:37Stuff it up, and we can place it into the camp.
28:40If they don't want it, they can drive it right over to my house.
28:43Just kidding.
28:44They're going to love it.
28:45Nice job.
28:53Morning.
28:53Morning.
28:54I'm looking good, guys.
29:04It's hot, Doug.
29:05Back at the white camp, and the guys are putting up the last pieces of trim on the exterior.
29:13The comb-faced boards came out really awesome with the vertical lats and the trim.
29:17It really, really came together.
29:19Fletcher and his buddies are here running tons of crushed stone.
29:21They did a great job.
29:23Front deck's been done for a while.
29:24Exeter's coming along really nice.
29:26Really, really came together this past week.
29:27Now it's a small punch list stuff.
29:30Hey, Jared, you got a minute?
29:31Mind helping me pick this up in?
29:32It's all coming together.
29:33It's a team effort, family effort.
29:35It looks great.
29:36Money.
29:37Very nice.
29:43So today, I was able to install the countertops and install the sink.
29:51Oh, yeah.
29:53And it is so weltering.
29:57It is probably 100 degrees, and that doesn't include the humidity.
30:00So on days like this, we try to get our work done.
30:05So just go around and mark everything in a quarter inch.
30:08Trace it with my pencil, and that's where I'm going to cut.
30:12So the quarter inch creates a lip for the sink to sit on.
30:23Woo!
30:24And then we go and enjoy the lake.
30:26Trigger, come here.
30:36Trigger, it's so hot.
30:38You already went swimming.
30:39That's the plan for the day, okay?
30:40I'm going to take everybody from boat rides and let them go swimming, and then we don't
30:44have to work so much.
30:45Got it?
30:46It is hot.
30:47It's the hottest day that we've had so far.
30:49I got my sun hat on.
30:51I got a swimsuit in my bag.
30:53And today's job is right across the lake from the family camp.
30:57So I'm taking my new boat, Peanut.
30:59Who do you think will come with us first?
31:01Your dad?
31:02To take people out on the lake.
31:06And have some fun.
31:08Sorry, I'm not here to work today.
31:11This is what summer in Maine is all about.
31:12Not working.
31:13Playing.
31:14Don't tell Chase.
31:20Hello.
31:20I brought my boat so we can take everybody out.
31:23I figure it's going to be a nice, easy day here.
31:26Yeah, well, we got a list for you.
31:29For me?
31:30Yeah.
31:30I don't, I'm not, I don't, I'm not accepting lists.
31:34What are you talking about?
31:35You'll have to see.
31:38Oh, look at this welcoming committee.
31:39Oh, look at the cat dragged in.
31:40The real worker just showed up.
31:42Unfortunately, when I walked in.
31:43Oh, I like it when Steve's my boss.
31:46You do?
31:47You do?
31:48Look, because look what he left for you to do.
31:49And look what he left for us to do.
31:51There was a huge list.
31:52Grill, chill, stay hydrated, lots of swim breaks.
31:55Oh.
31:56Switch.
31:58Reverse.
31:58It was a joke, because there was no way they were going to be to do all those things.
32:01There we go.
32:02Grill, chill, stay hydrated, lots of swim breaks.
32:05That's me.
32:06You're welcome, Steve.
32:08Okay, go chill and grill.
32:12Well, once we were in there, are you doing the trim in here?
32:15Yeah, baby.
32:15Wonderful.
32:17We could check that off.
32:19I realized that I needed to get the hutch in here.
32:22Hey, Jedi.
32:23Yeah?
32:24What are you doing right now?
32:25Trying to cool off.
32:26I need a hand.
32:27You do?
32:28Yeah.
32:28What are we doing?
32:29Chase and I built a hutch, and it's in two pieces.
32:32Still needs to be kind of assembled together.
32:34So we can put it in place.
32:37Okay.
32:38Kind of secure it.
32:39Want to help me?
32:40Yeah, sure.
32:40So, Chase and I finished the hutch.
32:43Do you want to touch the hutch?
32:44Yeah, real.
32:45The ones that are the ones that were in here.
32:47They are the ones that were in there.
32:49What?
32:50Chase painted it, kind of beat it up, gave it that stressed out look.
32:54Center in the wall.
32:55I like it on that wall, because the wood matches better.
32:57The wood definitely matches better.
32:58I think the wood matches better.
33:00The wood does match better.
33:01You know what?
33:01You know what?
33:01I really think that wall's good.
33:03You want to know why?
33:04Why?
33:04The wood matches better.
33:05The wood does match.
33:08How did we do on the list today?
33:10Somebody grab the list.
33:12Somebody grab the list.
33:14Countertops done.
33:15Vanity.
33:15Trim.
33:16Baseboard.
33:17Trim windows.
33:18Stay hydrated.
33:19What's left, sir?
33:20Clean up and cool off.
33:23All right.
33:23I'll get my team in here.
33:24We'll clean and get it ready for the homeowners.
33:27Yeah.
33:27All right.
33:28Nice work.
33:29Let's go swimming.
33:30Let's go swimming back.
33:32I'm going to go change my bathing suit.
33:34I forgot my slippies.
33:50Chase?
33:51Yep.
33:52Does this look nice?
33:53The place looks good.
33:54All right.
33:55So it's a beautiful summer day on coffee.
33:57Look at these.
33:58Hi, Chase.
33:59You did a good job.
34:00And we're ready to give the white camp back.
34:03They can be reminded of the mint siding they used to have, the beautiful kitchen cabinets
34:07they used to have.
34:08The siding we found behind the vinyl.
34:10Right?
34:10It's like Dad used to do.
34:11Yeah.
34:11They have the beautiful piece that we put a lot of time and love into.
34:15And my team was able to come in.
34:17It could be three of them like that.
34:20And make it feel campy and comfortable.
34:24We want them to come here and destroy it and not have to worry about anything else.
34:27Well, let's go down in the water.
34:28I can't even believe this.
34:32This is so exciting.
34:33Oh.
34:34Summer's finally here.
34:35It's nice, warm weather.
34:37All right.
34:37This is it.
34:38Do I see a black umbrella?
34:40Wait, I think I see deck rails.
34:41Yes.
34:42Or is that Karen's?
34:43It's hard to tell.
34:44Where is it?
34:44I never realized how well-hidden the house is.
34:47It's camouflaged.
34:48I can't tell.
34:49I can't tell.
34:50Oh, my gosh.
34:50The deck.
34:51Oh, wow.
34:52Look at that.
34:53Oh, my goodness.
34:54That's not the same house.
34:55It's totally not the same house.
34:56It's a totally different house.
34:57It looks like a camp and not an avocado.
35:01That looks beautiful.
35:02Hi, guys.
35:03Hi, guys.
35:04Welcome back.
35:05Just the whole outside of the camp, the deck is beautiful.
35:09No more mint green.
35:10No more mint.
35:12Wow.
35:12That is incredible.
35:13It just looks like it belongs.
35:16Yeah.
35:16Once we got all the vinyl siding stripped off, we got into jacking and leveling right away.
35:21Got it lifted up, out of the dirt.
35:22Replaced whatever sills we needed to.
35:25Everything's been reposted.
35:26New carrying beams.
35:28New pucks that everything's sitting on, so it's nice and level.
35:31It's a solid, you know, pressure-treated frame deck.
35:33Nice cedar railings.
35:34And we went with this comb-faced shiplap.
35:37Put the sage green trim.
35:39It's just a little color.
35:40Love it.
35:41Cannot wait to see inside.
35:43We'll head on in.
35:43All right.
35:44All right.
35:44All right.
35:52Oh, my goodness.
35:55Oh, my goodness.
35:56No.
35:57Wow.
35:58Wow.
35:59Stop it.
36:00I think we're in the wrong house.
36:01Oh, my gosh.
36:04This is a kitchen we can cook in.
36:06Oh, my gosh.
36:09This feels completely different.
36:11It does.
36:12It does, with the wall out of there.
36:16That front wall that was splitting the porch and the living area.
36:21So this is the floor from the front porch.
36:23This is the porch.
36:24Yeah.
36:24And the wall is with.
36:25That's the line right there.
36:26Just with that gone, I couldn't believe how much bigger the inside of the house was.
36:31I feel like we're part of the lake now.
36:32You definitely were separated in here.
36:34Yes.
36:34Yes.
36:35And wherever you stand in the house now, you can see the water.
36:38Did you happen to look to your left?
36:42There's a door straight ahead.
36:45Wait, where?
36:46Right.
36:46Straight ahead.
36:47The door.
36:48The outside.
36:50We now have an access door on the driveway side of the house.
36:53And no more side entrance.
36:54Yeah.
36:55Tore that right off.
36:56Closed it right in.
36:57Look at that.
36:58And I think it's going to be great for airflow.
37:02Look what they built.
37:06No.
37:06That's the cabinets.
37:09I was not willing to let you have no basket.
37:12I think it's beautiful.
37:13Okay.
37:14That's awesome.
37:14That's fabulous.
37:16And the darker green wood was actually the siding from the outside of this camp.
37:20Oh, that's awesome.
37:20Oh, wow.
37:20That's what was under the vinyl siding.
37:22And then Chase decided we needed some mint to remind you of the mint.
37:26Definitely need the mint.
37:27Can't forget about that.
37:28So this was made especially for you to remind you.
37:31Thank you, yeah.
37:32I know that.
37:33To have all the pieces of the hutch represent part of the house.
37:36That's the perfect amount of basket weave.
37:38Any house should have.
37:39Okay, okay, okay.
37:40The thought to do that.
37:42And it holds things, but it holds memories, too.
37:44Because every part of that hutch is us now.
37:48Yeah, so another request was a larger bathroom.
37:51So we kept the two bedrooms, kind of reconfigured everything.
37:55Oh, wow.
37:57Look at this.
37:59You're going to stay here tonight?
38:00Uh, yeah.
38:02Yes.
38:03I don't think you'll be able to get them out.
38:04So whatever space we stole from that bedroom, we kind of bumped out this way and just moved
38:11the bedroom forward a little bit.
38:13So a larger bathroom.
38:14Wow.
38:17A real bathroom.
38:19Holy cow.
38:20You did not do this.
38:22This is amazing.
38:23It's a bathroom.
38:25You can use it.
38:26Yeah.
38:26We could actually shower for a change.
38:30We could be clean at the lake.
38:31We've never done that.
38:32There's space.
38:33You can open the door so it's not jumbled on top of each other.
38:36Oh, look at this.
38:39Oh, that's such a pretty entrance.
38:42Oh, wow.
38:46That's nice.
38:47That is incredible that you were able to do that.
38:49That looks so pretty.
38:50Yeah, so, you know, when we first showed up, it was mint green.
38:54Vinyl siding.
38:58You could see that the camp was definitely settling into the dirt.
39:03And you wanted to kind of reconfigure the inside.
39:11We had $50,000 and 12 weeks.
39:15So the camp is ready for you to enjoy the summer.
39:17That's the summer.
39:18There are the keys.
39:19Thank you so much, Bob.
39:20Yeah, enjoy.
39:20We will swing by and say hi.
39:23Absolutely, any time, you guys.
39:25All right.
39:26Thank you so much.
39:27Bye.
39:28I never thought that this camp could look like this.
39:33You know, it's not closed off little compartments.
39:38It's incredible.
39:39It doesn't even look like the same house.
39:41I think we're going to be very, very happy for years to come.
39:44Thank you, Cabin Masters.
