00:00:00Criminal charges are often dropped or reduced, and all suspects shown are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
00:00:15So we are going up to this area, which is very secluded, very wooded.
00:00:21You don't go out there to go hiking. You go out there to get rid of things.
00:00:27Common sense tells me he's dumping our body.
00:00:30Man, if you'd have told me three weeks ago that we'd be looking for another body after Mark's case, I wouldn't have believed you.
00:00:37This is super rare. This is one of those kind of cases that you'll never forget.
00:00:47All right, let's go see what we got.
00:00:53I hope we find her.
00:00:549-1-1, what's the address of the emergency?
00:01:111-1-1, what's the address of the emergency?
00:01:12We're 63rd page north, across the street from my house.
00:01:17There's a body that's laying on the porch.
00:01:21Do you know that person has been shot?
00:01:23I don't know.
00:01:26All right, we'll go ahead and put a call in for them, okay?
00:01:27First responders arrive at the home and find a young woman on the front porch.
00:01:40Shot dead.
00:01:41For homicide detectives, their chance of solving a murder is cut in half if they don't get a lead within the first 48 hours.
00:01:57Detective Mark Kennedy will lead the investigation.
00:02:17Victims shot and killed her on her front step.
00:02:21What's her name?
00:02:22It is Beth.
00:02:2327-year-old Elizabeth Dillard grew up in Redding, California, and recently moved to Tulsa with her 8- and 9-year-old sons.
00:02:34She also has a 5-year-old daughter who lives in California with her ex-partner.
00:02:40Elizabeth is survived by her parents and two younger sisters.
00:02:43This neighbor and these people said they heard gunshots 330 to 345.
00:02:53No one called it then.
00:02:54Elizabeth was lying dead on her doorstep for almost four hours before a neighbor saw her and called 911.
00:03:02She shot three times.
00:03:03Okay.
00:03:04She was struck three times in the chest.
00:03:07Casing's right in the front yard.
00:03:0940-caliber Hornadies.
00:03:13CSI recovered three 40-caliber shell casings.
00:03:22She's not robbed her.
00:03:25She's got her car keys out.
00:03:27Her car's still intact.
00:03:29Her door key's laying on her way.
00:03:32So she's trying to get in the house.
00:03:33Her kids were at the house being watched by her sister.
00:03:40When first responders arrived, they found Elizabeth's sons and her sister inside.
00:03:46Who seemed to know the most about her sister?
00:03:48Yeah.
00:03:49Okay.
00:03:50Elizabeth's sister will be taken to homicide for questioning, while her kids stay with her sister's husband.
00:03:58She's got a phone on.
00:04:00Grab that.
00:04:01We'll take it with us.
00:04:02I'm not looking to see, is it?
00:04:06No.
00:04:07Well, we've got some work to do.
00:04:09Yeah, I think so.
00:04:16One hour in.
00:04:18You are.
00:04:19Yep.
00:04:20Reggie said they've got cameras pointing that direction.
00:04:24The team finds security cameras on the house next door to Elizabeth's.
00:04:28Nathan and Reggie are working on it.
00:04:30They're looking at it.
00:04:31Maybe Nathan can explain it to you.
00:04:33I'm going to explain it to you.
00:04:33I'm going to explain it to you.
00:04:33I'm going to explain it to you.
00:04:33Yeah, let's be okay, Doc.
00:04:38It's not.
00:04:39It shows her coming home at like 3.46.
00:04:44It's dark.
00:04:45I mean, you can't really see the porch.
00:04:47The video shows Elizabeth pulling into her driveway around the same time neighbors her gunshots.
00:04:55They're not sure are getting out of the car?
00:04:57No, it's out of view.
00:04:59But the cameras didn't capture the shooting.
00:05:03We don't see any cars following her into the driveway.
00:05:05According to the neighbor, Elizabeth recently broke up with a man whose parents live two doors down.
00:05:16The neighbor says she thinks they broke up about three months ago.
00:05:30She gives detectives the ex-boyfriend's contact information.
00:05:37I wonder if she has anything else.
00:05:40Well, this is not just cutting up right in.
00:05:42Let's go talk to a sister.
00:05:46Yeah, let's go do that.
00:05:47All right.
00:05:48I'm sorry we're meeting under these circumstances.
00:06:04Kennedy and Detective Max Ryden speak to Elizabeth's sister.
00:06:08I know this is a tough time for you, and I'm really sorry to have to put you through this.
00:06:13But we need as much information as we can get right now.
00:06:16So, you know, first of all, do you live there with your sister?
00:06:23Yeah, I just came to visit to help out with things.
00:06:28Okay.
00:06:29Help clean up her house and take care of kids.
00:06:32She goes to work to make sure that they're not home alone yet.
00:06:35Right. Where does she work at?
00:06:37Lipsticks, cabaret.
00:06:39She says Elizabeth worked at an adult entertainment club on the east side of Tulsa.
00:06:43And what does she do at the club?
00:06:47Dance.
00:06:48And what time does she normally get off work?
00:06:51I think at like 2.30.
00:06:54She gets home maybe 3 o'clock.
00:06:57So did you just assume she was already inside the house whenever you woke up this morning?
00:07:02Um, I woke up to banging.
00:07:06Banging on the door?
00:07:08Was it a neighbor?
00:07:09Um, officers, nurses.
00:07:11Officers, okay.
00:07:13She says she didn't know anything had happened to Elizabeth until the police arrived.
00:07:17I don't think you've told the kids yet about this, have you?
00:07:20No.
00:07:22Do they know something's happened to their mom?
00:07:23I don't believe so.
00:07:26But they're going to never see her again, and they're going to watch her to wear a shoe.
00:07:33I know. I'm sorry.
00:07:36Yeah, I know.
00:07:38It was almost like she was ambushed, is what it looks like.
00:07:43And so that, to me, is somebody that we feel has a beef with her, and we start looking at people close to her.
00:07:50Um, she did have one boyfriend, Terrell.
00:07:55Okay.
00:07:56She says Elizabeth recently dated a man named Terrell.
00:08:00You know Terrell's last name?
00:08:02I don't.
00:08:04Terrell's a black male?
00:08:05Yeah.
00:08:05A white male?
00:08:07He had like a dreaded hair, and he's kind of taller.
00:08:14How long ago did they date?
00:08:16Like two weeks ago.
00:08:18Did he live there with her? Stay there?
00:08:20He stayed in his truck.
00:08:21He stayed in his truck?
00:08:22Just to help her.
00:08:25Okay.
00:08:25Do you know what kind of truck he had?
00:08:28I don't know.
00:08:28It had a bed, but like no shell on it or anything.
00:08:33He had like a dog that would stay in the back.
00:08:35How come he didn't come in the house?
00:08:38Um, because he would have the dog, and she didn't want the dog against him.
00:08:42How was their relationship?
00:08:44Was it turbulent?
00:08:46Was it?
00:08:47It was all right.
00:08:47He would do dishes and come in sometimes and go out.
00:08:52You know his number?
00:08:54Mm-hmm.
00:08:54Okay, I want to ask you, there's a house, just about two houses down from where you live.
00:09:02Do you know individuals in there that...
00:09:05I know a little bit about them, of what she told me.
00:09:08It's, um, an ex-boyfriend.
00:09:10How did they know each other?
00:09:14Facebook, and then she moved in with him.
00:09:18She moved into the house where she's at now?
00:09:21Uh-huh.
00:09:22She says about a year ago, Elizabeth moved in with the man she met online.
00:09:27Their relationship didn't work, and he moved out.
00:09:29Really?
00:09:30Okay.
00:09:30He said her moved out, yeah.
00:09:32And you know how long ago that was, that the breakup occurred?
00:09:36I want to say longer than three months ago.
00:09:40She talked to him recently on Facebook Messenger, and he was trying to get her to go hang out with him.
00:09:49Recently, like in the last week?
00:09:52Yeah, and I was telling her, you know, he's an ex for a reason.
00:09:57He still owed her money or something, because he broke her phones when they were in a relationship,
00:10:02and never bought her a new phone.
00:10:06Okay.
00:10:08Did you say anything about how that happened?
00:10:09Um, she had apps that he didn't want, like dating apps.
00:10:16Jealous times and things that made him jealous?
00:10:18Yeah.
00:10:19Okay.
00:10:20And he broke her iPhone and the new one, and then she broke up with him.
00:10:25She broke up, and then he had to move out of his own house?
00:10:30Uh-huh.
00:10:30I mean, this is obviously a revenge, I mean, they don't take her car, they don't take her keys,
00:10:52they don't take her purse, I got his phone number, we'll see.
00:10:57We'll call him, get him down here next.
00:11:02Kennedy reaches out to Elizabeth's ex-boyfriend.
00:11:06Hello?
00:11:07Detective Kennedy with Tulsa Police.
00:11:10Yes, sir.
00:11:10Hey, um, man, I don't know if you've heard, but, uh, Elizabeth...
00:11:15My mom already told me, and I'm like, hell, like, what happened?
00:11:21Like, that don't make no sense.
00:11:24And the people next door got a camera facing towards the house.
00:11:29You know what I'm saying?
00:11:30Man, I used to stay in the house, sir.
00:11:32Yeah.
00:11:34And I ain't been over there ever since.
00:11:36Well, hey, listen, is there any way you could come downtown, and we could talk to you real quick
00:11:41and give us as much information about her as you know?
00:11:45Um, not right now, but I can probably, like, a little later.
00:11:49Yeah.
00:11:50Yeah, that's fine.
00:11:52I was nowhere in sight, don't know...
00:11:54Well, I'm not saying you were.
00:11:55I'm not saying you were.
00:11:58Okay.
00:12:00All right, appreciate it.
00:12:01No problem.
00:12:02Bye.
00:12:05He knows about the camera, so he knows exactly how to freaking avoid it.
00:12:09Right, he knows the camera.
00:12:10And did you ever ask him if he was there?
00:12:11You didn't ask him, but he volunteered.
00:12:13I wasn't there, like, eight times in that conversation.
00:12:23Two hours later.
00:12:26All right.
00:12:27Well, I'm Detective Kennedy.
00:12:29This is Detective Ryden.
00:12:30Elizabeth's ex-boyfriend shows up at homicide.
00:12:34Appreciate you coming down.
00:12:36Well, hey, man, tell me about you and Elizabeth.
00:12:40I know that you two have, at one point, had a relationship, and I understood that it was
00:12:47kind of an internet relationship at first.
00:12:50Yeah, we was chilling.
00:12:51You know, we talked, you know, after we talked, she moved down here.
00:12:58So she moves to Tulsa?
00:13:00She moved to Tulsa, where we didn't get.
00:13:02It was like a year ago, or...?
00:13:05Probably so.
00:13:06Okay.
00:13:07When did you move out of the house?
00:13:09Like, October.
00:13:10He says he moved out five months ago, after he and Elizabeth broke up.
00:13:15Can I describe your relationship?
00:13:20I mean, was it physical?
00:13:21I mean, did you guys get domestic violence type stuff, anything like that?
00:13:26I heard, basically, that at some point, there was a disagreement, and her phone got broken.
00:13:34Yeah, I accidentally broke her phone.
00:13:36I heard that the disagreement might have had to do with stuff that was on her phone.
00:13:41Yeah, and that's why I don't want all that, you know, and that ain't none of my business.
00:13:47Why did you move out?
00:13:49I moved out because it just, like, it just kept getting too toxic.
00:13:55All right.
00:13:56So, I mean, what kind of relationship have you had since you guys broke up?
00:14:00You ain't been talking.
00:14:03All right, let's do this.
00:14:05Let's start off yesterday, and let's talk about your day.
00:14:08What were you doing?
00:14:09I wasn't at their house yesterday.
00:14:13I didn't say that.
00:14:14I said, where were you at?
00:14:32Where were you at?
00:14:34Out of the film.
00:14:39Where'd you go out of town to?
00:14:45I was, like, out in Kansas.
00:14:47Where at in Kansas?
00:14:49Um, um, I forgot the name of it.
00:14:58Okay.
00:14:58When did you get back from Kansas?
00:15:00Today.
00:15:01He claims he arrived back in town about three hours after Elizabeth's murder.
00:15:12So, you got back in town from Kansas, and you don't know what the name of the town is?
00:15:17How'd you even know how to get there?
00:15:23Did you use your phone for the GPS?
00:15:25Did you use the office that you put in your phone?
00:15:29Like, I don't know what else to say.
00:15:33Like, I didn't do nothing wrong.
00:15:36So, your phone will show you were in Kansas?
00:15:39Yeah.
00:15:41Okay, well, let's just make this simple.
00:15:43I have a guy here right now that can download your phone.
00:15:46And if you can show you're in Kansas, hell, we'll end this right now.
00:15:50Make sense?
00:15:51All right.
00:15:52You can do that.
00:15:53Okay.
00:15:55All right.
00:16:03Nathan, can you dump this?
00:16:05We're hoping the GPS in there will show what's going on here.
00:16:09This story sucks.
00:16:17A half hour later.
00:16:19Well, we'll see if he's telling the truth.
00:16:21Detectives get a look at the ex-boyfriend's GPS records.
00:16:26There's a GPS here, right there.
00:16:31He's freaking in.
00:16:33Is that like Blackwell?
00:16:34Yeah.
00:16:35At 4.40 in the morning.
00:16:37No way he got from 4 o'clock in the morning from a shoot to Blackwell at 4.40.
00:16:41It takes too long to get there.
00:16:43That's an hour and a half drive.
00:16:46Elizabeth's ex-boyfriend was over 100 miles from Tulsa at the time of the murder.
00:16:51I think he's not your guy.
00:16:53I think you're right.
00:16:56We may need to start looking another direction.
00:17:05Phone back.
00:17:06We're going to give you a ride home.
00:17:08We're out of here.
00:17:08I'm going to go call the Lipstick Cabaret and try to just get whatever they've got.
00:17:14All right.
00:17:23Twelve hours in.
00:17:24She was at Lipstick Cabaret at work last night.
00:17:28Elizabeth's manager said she left the club about an hour before she was murdered.
00:17:34She did say that she gave a ride to another girl last night when they left.
00:17:42The video at the strip club shows her and the girl both leaving, getting in the car.
00:17:47Nobody follows them out.
00:17:49Nobody follows the car.
00:17:50They're by themselves.
00:17:51Her phone number is...
00:17:55Kennedy calls Elizabeth's co-worker.
00:18:01This is Detective Mark Kennedy.
00:18:03I work for the Tulsa Police Department.
00:18:05If you could give me a call back, I'd appreciate it.
00:18:11She's not answering.
00:18:12We'll find her and talk to her.
00:18:16See what she knows.
00:18:29The next afternoon...
00:18:30We're going to go talk to a young lady that was given a ride by our victim
00:18:36as they left work at the Lipstick Cabaret.
00:18:39Elizabeth's co-worker gets back to Kennedy and agrees to meet.
00:18:47A couple questions I want to ask you.
00:18:50So you left the club and then you came straight here?
00:18:52Yes, exactly.
00:18:54She confirms Elizabeth gave her a ride home after work.
00:18:58You didn't see her pick up anybody else?
00:19:00No.
00:19:02When you are working at the club,
00:19:05is there one particular guy that always would hang out with Elizabeth?
00:19:09It was the old guy that she was talking to.
00:19:12It was a guy named T-Rill, but I don't know his actual name.
00:19:17How long ago did you last see Terrell?
00:19:20Probably about a month ago.
00:19:23I do have a number, though, because he tried to talk to me before, too.
00:19:27Can I get that number?
00:19:28Yes.
00:19:29She gives them Terrell's phone number.
00:19:32And you haven't seen him for a month?
00:19:33No.
00:19:35Maybe a month or two, honestly.
00:19:38You tell me.
00:19:40Well, if you're anything in the club, you've got to remember it.
00:19:43All right.
00:19:43Thanks for your...
00:19:44You'll be safe.
00:19:4436 hours in.
00:19:54I'm going to try to get a hold of Terrell.
00:19:55The text now subscriber you are trying to reach is not available.
00:20:08Please leave your message.
00:20:09Does that mean I have to text him?
00:20:10I don't know how text now works.
00:20:13He's calling from an app on his phone,
00:20:16which is generating that phone number,
00:20:18which is a fake number,
00:20:19which is hard to get who that is.
00:20:21They're all texting.
00:20:24Kennedy sends a message to the text now number,
00:20:27asking Terrell to get in touch.
00:20:30At this point, I think it's a little bit thin
00:20:32to get a search warrant for that number.
00:20:35So we'll continue to try to figure out who he is.
00:20:39Hopefully he'll give me a call back.
00:20:40In the first 48,
00:21:01Tulsa Homicide responded to the murder
00:21:03of 27-year-old Elizabeth Dillard,
00:21:06gunned down on her doorstep.
00:21:07Talked to her sister,
00:21:09who said Elizabeth recently broke up with two men.
00:21:13Interviewed one of the men,
00:21:14but cleared him when his GPS showed
00:21:16he was 100 miles from Tulsa
00:21:18at the time of the murder.
00:21:20And got a phone number for the other man,
00:21:22known only as Terrell,
00:21:24but had been unable to reach him.
00:21:29Eight days later...
00:21:32Right now, we don't have a lot to go on.
00:21:34Kennedy still hasn't heard back from Terrell.
00:21:38I've taken Elizabeth's phone
00:21:40to our special investigations division,
00:21:42and we're hoping that maybe there's something
00:21:44in that phone somewhere that will list Terrell,
00:21:47and we can figure out who he is.
00:21:51I'm gonna have to go shake the idol
00:21:53over here a little bit on this one.
00:21:55It's just kind of an ongoing joke
00:21:57that when we get up for a murder,
00:21:59we shake the skull
00:22:00and hope for the best on our investigation.
00:22:03We need a little bit of luck here.
00:22:06She was ambushed,
00:22:07and she was murdered in cold blood,
00:22:08and it's something that we've got to solve.
00:22:13Ten days in,
00:22:28as the investigation into Elizabeth's murder
00:22:30threatens to go cold.
00:22:31A woman asks police to check on her neighbor.
00:22:41Her keys were left to her door.
00:22:44Her purse was left outside.
00:22:46And when was the last time you saw her?
00:22:48Days ago.
00:22:49And have you knocked on her door?
00:22:51We have beat on her door.
00:22:53We will get officers out there as soon as we can.
00:23:01Officers arrive.
00:23:02What's going on?
00:23:04Man, I don't know if she's in there
00:23:06or not in there.
00:23:07You know what I'm saying?
00:23:09She's usually out in the battle all the time.
00:23:10I haven't seen her in front of the lights.
00:23:20Hey, guys.
00:23:23All right, here we go.
00:23:29We're going to stand to this
00:23:30and we're coming in to check on you.
00:23:39Ms. Dancer?
00:23:43They find the woman in her bedroom.
00:23:46Ms. Dancer?
00:23:48Where's she going?
00:23:49Shot dead.
00:24:00How long has she been dead?
00:24:04She has turned to decomp,
00:24:05so it's probably been a deer too.
00:24:07Okay.
00:24:08Detective Lacey Lansdowne
00:24:10joined homicide eight months ago.
00:24:12She will leave the investigation.
00:24:16Odd thing was her keys were still on the door.
00:24:18Okay.
00:24:19So there's no forced entry.
00:24:21Okay.
00:24:22The neighbors next door
00:24:24found the victim's purse
00:24:25outside the front door,
00:24:26right about here.
00:24:27The victim's name is Rainbow Dancer.
00:24:3669-year-old Rainbow Star Dancer
00:24:38was born Rhonda Ruth Harbolt,
00:24:41but changed her name
00:24:42soon after she left the U.S. Army.
00:24:44She supported local unhoused people
00:24:46by hiring them for small jobs
00:24:48around her apartment.
00:24:50Rainbow leaves behind a brother
00:24:52and a cousin
00:24:53in her home state of Minnesota.
00:25:09She was on her back.
00:25:10She was covered with copper.
00:25:13Somebody covered her up.
00:25:15Yes.
00:25:16And then when I rolled her over,
00:25:19she's got the bullets still in her hand.
00:25:20Okay.
00:25:26She's probably been shot
00:25:26four or five times.
00:25:27Yeah, at least.
00:25:29Rainbow was shot four times
00:25:31in the head
00:25:31and once in her back and hand.
00:25:33She's got another casing.
00:25:39CSI collects six casings
00:25:41from a .40 caliber.
00:25:43Damn.
00:25:43Yeah.
00:25:44Andy was using expensive rounds
00:25:45of a Hornaday.
00:25:47Really?
00:25:48Wow.
00:25:50They're like $2 a round.
00:25:53This is screaming domestic.
00:25:55To cover somebody up like that.
00:25:57This is personal, yeah.
00:26:00Don't turn her phone in.
00:26:01Just give that directly to me.
00:26:02Um, swab it, though, first.
00:26:14Hey, Lacey.
00:26:15Yep.
00:26:16One hour in.
00:26:18He says he probably saw her
00:26:19the last time on Thursday.
00:26:21Okay.
00:26:21Didn't really talk to her
00:26:22very much that day.
00:26:24A neighbor says he saw Rainbow
00:26:26hanging out with a new man
00:26:27about four days ago.
00:26:29Okay.
00:26:31Hang on just a minute, sir.
00:26:33We need to bring him down
00:26:35and formally interview him.
00:26:36Yeah, he's pleased to go down.
00:26:36Yeah.
00:26:37The neighbor agrees to talk
00:26:39back at Homicide.
00:26:41I'm really hoping
00:26:42he's going to be able
00:26:43to shed some light
00:26:44on who she was friends with,
00:26:46who she was hanging out with.
00:26:47Doesn't look like anything's stolen.
00:26:59There's no force entry.
00:27:02Somebody killed her,
00:27:03but then covered her up.
00:27:05That's personal.
00:27:07This is a horrible way to go.
00:27:10It's just a straight up
00:27:13execution.
00:27:26Before speaking to the neighbor.
00:27:28We're going to call,
00:27:29try to get a hold of a family member
00:27:31and unfortunately tell him
00:27:33some really bad news.
00:27:34Lansdowne makes the call
00:27:36to Rainbow's next of kin.
00:27:40Hello?
00:27:41Hi, this is Detective Lacey Lansdowne
00:27:43with the Tulsa Police Department.
00:27:45Okay.
00:27:46Ma'am, are you related
00:27:48to a rainbow dancer
00:27:50or star dancer?
00:27:52Rainbow star dancer, yes.
00:27:54I'm so done.
00:27:55Okay, ma'am,
00:27:56I'm so sorry to tell you this,
00:27:58but she was murdered
00:28:00here in Tulsa
00:28:02within the last couple of days.
00:28:05Oh, okay.
00:28:09Do we know how?
00:28:11Um, she, she was shot.
00:28:15Okay.
00:28:16Okay.
00:28:17Okay.
00:28:18But I will tell you
00:28:20that I'm going to do
00:28:20everything I can to solve this
00:28:22and get, get justice
00:28:24for you guys.
00:28:25All right.
00:28:26I appreciate you calling.
00:28:27Yes, I'm so sorry.
00:28:30Okay.
00:28:30Bye-bye.
00:28:31Bye-bye.
00:28:33Hopefully we can get
00:28:34some answers for her
00:28:36because star didn't deserve this.
00:28:39five hours in.
00:28:48Five hours in.
00:28:50Okay.
00:28:52So I'm Lacey.
00:28:53I'm the lead detective on this.
00:28:57So how do you know Rainbow?
00:28:58Um, she lives in the complex.
00:29:01She's very extroverted,
00:29:02so she just speaks to everyone.
00:29:04Okay.
00:29:05Tuesday, I noticed that
00:29:07there was a gentleman there with her.
00:29:10He was dressed in red.
00:29:11He kind of looked younger.
00:29:12He had dreads.
00:29:13Okay.
00:29:14So I just walked up.
00:29:15I'm a nosy person.
00:29:16How are you doing?
00:29:17How are things going?
00:29:19And he didn't give me any eye contact,
00:29:21which, you know,
00:29:21that was kind of different.
00:29:22Uh-huh.
00:29:23Did you ask who he was?
00:29:25No, I didn't.
00:29:26What was his race?
00:29:28Black.
00:29:29I think he was in his early 30s.
00:29:31Did she say anything about him?
00:29:33That day, no.
00:29:35Um, so the following day,
00:29:37I noticed that his truck
00:29:39was parked there overnight.
00:29:42I thought that was strange.
00:29:44So I went upstairs,
00:29:46and I heard her voice
00:29:48yelling at someone.
00:29:49I couldn't tell
00:29:53what she was yelling.
00:29:54I didn't think too much about it.
00:29:56But the following day,
00:29:58Thursday,
00:29:58she was very upset.
00:30:00She told me that
00:30:01he shoved her into a wall,
00:30:05and he took her phone.
00:30:09She said,
00:30:10I slashed his tires
00:30:11because he stole money
00:30:14from me and my phone.
00:30:17I was like,
00:30:17he stole money.
00:30:18She's like, $200.
00:30:18So we're talking Wednesday.
00:30:23Could you talk to her Thursday?
00:30:25Yes.
00:30:26Did you have any conversations
00:30:27with her after Thursday?
00:30:29I can't recall talking
00:30:31to her Friday.
00:30:32But I think I saw his truck there.
00:30:36Describe what his truck looked like.
00:30:38So his truck is gray.
00:30:40It's a primer gray,
00:30:41so there's no shine.
00:30:44Was it like a Chevy,
00:30:45a Dodge?
00:30:46I don't remember
00:30:47if it's a Chevy or a Dodge,
00:30:48or it's not a Ford.
00:30:50Did she ever tell you
00:30:51what his name was
00:30:52or nickname
00:30:52or anything like that?
00:30:54No.
00:30:55Or what did she tell you?
00:30:56Everything you can remember
00:30:57that she told you about him?
00:30:58She said that his dog
00:31:01had some issue.
00:31:03I don't remember
00:31:03what the issue was.
00:31:05I didn't need to ask.
00:31:07Okay.
00:31:08You've been very,
00:31:09very helpful.
00:31:15We've got to figure out
00:31:16who this dress guy is.
00:31:18He had motives.
00:31:19She slashed his tires.
00:31:20They got into it.
00:31:21He'd stolen a phone from her.
00:31:22He'd stolen money from her.
00:31:23We've, at the very least,
00:31:26need to identify him
00:31:27and talk to him.
00:31:39Ten days after Elizabeth
00:31:41was found murdered
00:31:42on her front steps.
00:31:44For those of you
00:31:45who don't know,
00:31:46Lacey got murdered.
00:31:48Lieutenant Brandon Watkins
00:31:49briefs the rest of the team
00:31:51on Rainbow's murder.
00:31:53She was found shot
00:31:54multiple times in her bed.
00:31:57A man had been staying with her.
00:31:59It was a black male
00:32:00with dreads,
00:32:01drives a pickup
00:32:03that's got, like,
00:32:04primered and beat up.
00:32:06Captain, hold on.
00:32:07Hold on.
00:32:09My victim,
00:32:10Elizabeth Dillard,
00:32:12had a boyfriend,
00:32:13black male with dreads,
00:32:14drives a pickup.
00:32:16A guy by the name of Terrell.
00:32:21I mean,
00:32:21look at everything
00:32:22that's matching up here.
00:32:26She had her key
00:32:27still in the door
00:32:28and her purse
00:32:29was left outside,
00:32:31which is,
00:32:31which is a very similar M.O.
00:32:36He had a dog.
00:32:37Okay.
00:32:38My guy has a dog.
00:32:40And then,
00:32:41the biggest thing is,
00:32:42your casings are 40 Harnaday's,
00:32:44so are mine.
00:32:46What are the
00:32:46dogs here, dude?
00:32:47It's weird.
00:32:48Wow.
00:32:49It's the same guy.
00:32:53Mark,
00:32:55there's two coincidental.
00:32:57We need to have those compared,
00:32:59like, ASAP.
00:33:16Hey, Mark.
00:33:17Hi, Joy.
00:33:17So, I've got a scene
00:33:19where we recover casings.
00:33:22Kennedy asks the ballistics lab
00:33:24to compare the casings
00:33:25found at Elizabeth
00:33:26and Rainbow's crime scenes.
00:33:29Okay, sounds good.
00:33:31All right, thank you.
00:33:33The lab is working on it.
00:33:34Okay.
00:33:35We'll see if they're the same gun.
00:33:37If they are,
00:33:38we probably got the same suspect
00:33:39on both murders.
00:33:40Hold on.
00:33:51Two hours later.
00:33:52So, Joy,
00:33:53you're telling me
00:33:54the ones from my scene
00:33:55and the ones from
00:33:56the other scene
00:33:57all match.
00:33:58Correct.
00:34:00All right.
00:34:01You're awesome.
00:34:03Appreciate it.
00:34:04All right.
00:34:05No problem.
00:34:06Bye.
00:34:06Did I hear this one?
00:34:07I think I heard.
00:34:09Brandon, you hear that?
00:34:10I heard all the casings match.
00:34:14It's the same guy.
00:34:15This is not good.
00:34:20Two murders,
00:34:22very same MO
00:34:23in a week.
00:34:25The question about now
00:34:26is do we get him
00:34:27before you get someone else?
00:34:30Hell, now we know
00:34:31pretty much probably who it is.
00:34:32It's probably going to be Terrell.
00:34:34Now we know
00:34:35why he didn't answer my text.
00:34:37Do we have a last name?
00:34:39No last name,
00:34:40but I do have
00:34:40a text now number for him.
00:34:42The team will submit
00:34:43a warrant
00:34:43for Terrell's
00:34:44text now phone records.
00:34:47I'll see if that phone number
00:34:48pops up in her phone at all.
00:34:50Jeremy took it to cybercrimes.
00:34:52And the special investigation
00:34:53division will search
00:34:54Rainbow and Elizabeth's phones
00:34:56to see if they share
00:34:57a contact number
00:34:58for Terrell.
00:35:00I think everything
00:35:01just needs to go
00:35:01towards figuring out
00:35:02who the hell Terrell is.
00:35:1021 hours
00:35:11since Rainbow
00:35:12was found murdered.
00:35:13I just got
00:35:15some new info.
00:35:16Your victim had
00:35:17that text now phone number
00:35:19in her phone
00:35:20under Brooks Terrell,
00:35:21T-E-R-R-Y-L.
00:35:24So maybe Terrell Brooks.
00:35:26The special investigation
00:35:27division finds a lead
00:35:29in Elizabeth Dillard's phone.
00:35:31Well, somebody
00:35:32got traces up?
00:35:33I've got traces up.
00:35:34I'm pulling up.
00:35:35Okay.
00:35:35I got him.
00:35:41Got him?
00:35:41Yep.
00:35:45Terrell Rayshon Brooks.
00:35:4922-year-old Terrell Brooks
00:35:52has two convictions
00:35:53for robbery
00:35:53in North Carolina.
00:35:55Damn.
00:35:56He had a ticket
00:36:00in 2019.
00:36:01He got stopped
00:36:03in a silver
00:36:04Chevy 1989
00:36:06pickup truck.
00:36:07Boom.
00:36:09He had a .40 caliber
00:36:10gun on him.
00:36:12And they gave it to him?
00:36:15Yep.
00:36:15Says they gave it back
00:36:16to him.
00:36:17Doesn't look like
00:36:17he had any reason
00:36:18to keep it.
00:36:18Detective Jason White
00:36:22pulls up body cam stills
00:36:23from the traffic stop.
00:36:25That's the vehicle
00:36:26right there.
00:36:27Yeah, that's it
00:36:28right there.
00:36:29That's really good.
00:36:31Post that on there.
00:36:33The team puts out
00:36:34a bolo
00:36:34for Terrell's truck.
00:36:36Find the truck.
00:36:37Find that truck.
00:36:38While patrol searches
00:36:46for Terrell's
00:36:47Chevy pickup.
00:36:50The casings,
00:36:51that's the only thing
00:36:51we got connected
00:36:52other than the similarities.
00:36:55I mean,
00:36:55is he PCable yet?
00:36:57PCable?
00:36:59I think if that photo's
00:37:00picked, yes.
00:37:02Detectives will reach out
00:37:03to witnesses
00:37:03hoping to secure
00:37:05a positive ID
00:37:06on Terrell.
00:37:07I want to send you
00:37:08a picture real quick
00:37:09and you kind of
00:37:10let me know
00:37:10what you think.
00:37:11Kennedy reaches out
00:37:12to Elizabeth's sister.
00:37:14Okay, thank you
00:37:15very much.
00:37:16All right,
00:37:17sister just confirmed
00:37:18that is Terrell.
00:37:20All right.
00:37:24Back at Rainbow's
00:37:25apartment complex,
00:37:27Lansdowne meets
00:37:27with her neighbor.
00:37:28Did you say that
00:37:29one of these guys
00:37:30looks familiar?
00:37:32Okay.
00:37:33Can you sign
00:37:34and date that, please?
00:37:38So we have
00:37:41a positive ID.
00:37:42That means
00:37:43we have two IDs.
00:37:44The team
00:37:45now has enough
00:37:46probable cause
00:37:47to get an arrest
00:37:48warrant for
00:37:49Terrell Brooks.
00:37:51It's coming together
00:37:52quickly,
00:37:52which I'm really
00:37:53happy about
00:37:54because this guy
00:37:54is dangerous.
00:37:56Hopefully,
00:37:56a few of the warrants
00:37:57can find him
00:37:58sometime soon.
00:37:58We got everybody
00:38:05in our unit
00:38:06and the warrants
00:38:07units I was looking.
00:38:11If he's killed
00:38:12two people,
00:38:13there wouldn't be
00:38:14any reason why
00:38:15he wouldn't try
00:38:15to kill a third.
00:38:16So hopefully,
00:38:18we'll come up
00:38:19with something
00:38:19rather quickly.
00:38:21If this was
00:38:22a baseball field,
00:38:23first base
00:38:23is what you think,
00:38:24second base
00:38:25is what you know,
00:38:26and third base
00:38:26is what you can prove.
00:38:27But right now,
00:38:28we're on second base.
00:38:29We know it's probably
00:38:30going to be him.
00:38:32It's just trying
00:38:32to get enough proof
00:38:33it's him,
00:38:34which is how
00:38:34you get to home.
00:38:43Six hours later,
00:38:45Highway Patrol
00:38:46spotted this vehicle
00:38:47pulling out
00:38:48of a quick trip,
00:38:49I believe.
00:38:51Our units
00:38:52got him in custody,
00:38:53and now he's
00:38:53down here.
00:38:56Terrell Brooks
00:38:57is brought into
00:38:58homicide for questioning.
00:39:01Probable cause
00:39:01allows us to
00:39:02arrest him
00:39:03without a warrant.
00:39:04I think he's
00:39:05our guy, definitely.
00:39:07He is connected
00:39:08to both of the victims.
00:39:10The gun matches
00:39:11at both scenes.
00:39:13The danger
00:39:14with a probable cause
00:39:15arrest is that
00:39:16he could go
00:39:17before a judge,
00:39:18and the judge
00:39:18decide that we
00:39:19don't have enough
00:39:20probable cause,
00:39:21and then he's
00:39:21back out on the street.
00:39:23Of course,
00:39:24if he talks
00:39:24and he confesses,
00:39:25that just helps
00:39:25our case out,
00:39:26and, you know,
00:39:27it takes away
00:39:28any argument
00:39:28that we don't
00:39:28have the right man.
00:39:31How's he acting?
00:39:32Pretty relaxed.
00:39:34Did you guys
00:39:35search the car
00:39:35or any whatsoever,
00:39:37just tow it?
00:39:37We did a no-touch hold.
00:39:39Terrell's truck
00:39:40will be towed
00:39:40to the crime lab
00:39:41and processed
00:39:42for evidence.
00:39:44Didn't happen
00:39:45to see a gun
00:39:45or anything,
00:39:46did you?
00:39:47No.
00:39:49There's one phone
00:39:50in the floorboard
00:39:50of the driver's seat,
00:39:51and there's one phone
00:39:52in the passenger seat.
00:39:53Okay.
00:39:54We'll get those later.
00:39:56Tulsa's dog.
00:39:57Sweet and friendly.
00:39:58Dad came
00:39:59to pick the dog up.
00:40:01Terrell's father,
00:40:02who lives in Tulsa,
00:40:03took custody
00:40:04of his dog
00:40:05before the truck
00:40:05was towed.
00:40:07Okay.
00:40:07Well,
00:40:08I'm hoping he talks
00:40:09to us
00:40:09and we get a confession.
00:40:11We'll see what happens.
00:40:12Yeah.
00:40:13All right.
00:40:14All right.
00:40:15All right, buddy.
00:40:25Terrell,
00:40:25I'm Detective Kennedy.
00:40:26This is Detective Lansdowne,
00:40:28okay?
00:40:28We'll toss the police.
00:40:30Probably got a lot
00:40:30of questions right now.
00:40:32Yeah, I do.
00:40:33Okay.
00:40:34I just want to know
00:40:35why y'all have me here.
00:40:37You're under arrest,
00:40:39okay,
00:40:39for a first-degree murder.
00:40:42This lady,
00:40:43right here,
00:40:43that's what you're
00:40:50in here for.
00:40:52Do you want
00:40:53to explain this?
00:40:54Why it happened?
00:40:55How it happened?
00:41:10I don't talk
00:41:11to those ladies anymore.
00:41:13I was with her
00:41:20for a couple days,
00:41:21like for a week.
00:41:24She let me come
00:41:25stay at her house
00:41:25and she didn't want
00:41:26me there no more.
00:41:27I left her house
00:41:28and her.
00:41:31I had work for her
00:41:32and she took me up
00:41:34to the vet
00:41:34and tried to take
00:41:35my dog
00:41:35and say that
00:41:36my dog was her dog.
00:41:40Okay.
00:41:40Well,
00:41:41this one,
00:41:42so you know her.
00:41:44What do you know her by?
00:41:45What's her name?
00:41:47Elizabeth.
00:41:48I was with her
00:41:49for a little while.
00:41:50Where'd you meet her at?
00:41:52I met her at the strip club.
00:41:54Lipstick cabaret?
00:41:57So,
00:41:57how did you end up
00:41:58staying with her for a while?
00:42:00Because I'm homeless.
00:42:02She was like,
00:42:02it's cold outside,
00:42:04stay with her.
00:42:05And she ended up
00:42:06being my girlfriend.
00:42:08Right.
00:42:10What ended up
00:42:11happening with that
00:42:11arrangement?
00:42:12She said she didn't
00:42:14want to be
00:42:14in a relationship.
00:42:16It's like dancing
00:42:17and being free.
00:42:18Yeah.
00:42:19Did she kind of
00:42:20kick you out?
00:42:21Yeah, she kicked me out.
00:42:22She said she didn't
00:42:23want me living
00:42:24with her anymore.
00:42:25She said we can be
00:42:26friends and everything
00:42:27and that she still
00:42:29likes me and everything,
00:42:30but she never
00:42:31contacted me.
00:42:32She never talked
00:42:33to me or nothing.
00:42:34Right.
00:42:36Okay.
00:42:37This lady right here,
00:42:38what do you know her by?
00:42:39What's her name?
00:42:40I don't even
00:42:42know her name.
00:42:44How did you meet her?
00:42:45I just ride
00:42:46through the apartments.
00:42:47I sleep at apartments.
00:42:49Right.
00:42:50I sleep in a parking spot
00:42:52and I just pull up,
00:42:54but I asked her
00:42:54if she wanted
00:42:55to buy my dog.
00:42:57If she wanted
00:42:57to buy your dog?
00:42:58Yeah.
00:42:59Well, my dog
00:42:59just ran away from me,
00:43:01not wanting to come to me.
00:43:02Mm-hmm.
00:43:02He learned that
00:43:03from being around females
00:43:05and them kind of
00:43:07sweet-talking,
00:43:09stuff like that.
00:43:10Right before
00:43:12she was about
00:43:13to buy her,
00:43:14he barked.
00:43:15So it brought
00:43:16back to my senses
00:43:17like, hey,
00:43:19you know,
00:43:19that dog might be
00:43:20a good protective dog.
00:43:21Mm-hmm.
00:43:22So I decided
00:43:23you wanted to keep him.
00:43:23I decided I wanted
00:43:24to keep him.
00:43:25And she was like,
00:43:26you can come in.
00:43:28You can stay with me.
00:43:29You know?
00:43:30And I went over there.
00:43:31I stayed over there
00:43:32and cleaned her house.
00:43:33She started paying me.
00:43:35Okay.
00:43:37So when's the last
00:43:38time you saw her?
00:43:40It was probably
00:43:41like a week ago.
00:43:42Okay.
00:43:43Anything happen there?
00:43:45No, I just told her
00:43:46that she wasn't
00:43:47going to keep my dog.
00:43:49She was like,
00:43:49I got half the ownership
00:43:51of the dog
00:43:52since I paid it to vet.
00:43:53Mm.
00:43:55I just said,
00:43:56uh, don't,
00:43:57you're not taking my dog.
00:43:58And she said,
00:43:58I'm not going to deal
00:43:59with a mouthy-ass bitch
00:44:00and put me out.
00:44:02Right.
00:44:04Here's the thing.
00:44:06Some bad things
00:44:07happen to these women.
00:44:08Okay?
00:44:09They have families.
00:44:11They deserve closure.
00:44:13Okay?
00:44:13What's going on?
00:44:14She's dead
00:44:15and she's dead.
00:44:17And I think
00:44:18you know that already.
00:44:20These women
00:44:21don't know each other.
00:44:23The only connection
00:44:24between these women
00:44:25are you.
00:44:26Okay?
00:44:27You seem like
00:44:29a pretty good guy.
00:44:30All right?
00:44:32I think there's
00:44:33some stuff weighing
00:44:34really heavy
00:44:34on your heart right now
00:44:35that I think
00:44:36can tell you're
00:44:37a little bit scared
00:44:38to get it out there.
00:44:40But I promise you,
00:44:41you're going to feel better
00:44:43by telling the truth.
00:44:44Okay?
00:44:45The truth is already known.
00:44:47I don't,
00:44:48I'm not with them anymore.
00:44:49I know you're not with them.
00:44:51I'm not going to argue that.
00:44:53But I do know
00:44:54that you know
00:44:54what happened.
00:44:55Okay?
00:44:58This is your opportunity,
00:45:00Terrell,
00:45:01to tell us
00:45:02what happened.
00:45:03I think maybe
00:45:04your emotions
00:45:05got a hold of you.
00:45:06I know she cut your tire.
00:45:07I know she probably
00:45:08broke your heart.
00:45:11Okay.
00:45:13Okay.
00:45:14Well,
00:45:14we'll get that lawyer
00:45:15for you,
00:45:15all right?
00:45:17You're being arrested
00:45:18are two counts
00:45:18of first-degree murder
00:45:19for the murder
00:45:20of Elizabeth Dillard
00:45:21and Star Rainbow Dancer.
00:45:24You'll be booked
00:45:26in the Tulsa County Jail.
00:45:28Okay?
00:45:29And you'll have
00:45:29your day in court.
00:45:31Sound good?
00:45:32All right.
00:45:33We'll talk to you later.
00:45:34We got a little out of him.
00:45:44We got him connected
00:45:44with both victims.
00:45:47So,
00:45:48better than nothing.
00:45:50I mean,
00:45:51he puts himself
00:45:51at both scenes
00:45:52and the odds
00:45:53of him randomly
00:45:55knowing both
00:45:55of these women,
00:45:56that's...
00:45:57Certainly none.
00:45:59Obviously,
00:46:00he's got some issues
00:46:01with women
00:46:02and anger.
00:46:04Elizabeth was ambushed
00:46:05at her front door.
00:46:06So was Rainbow Star.
00:46:08That seems to be
00:46:09his motive
00:46:09on how he gets back
00:46:11at the women
00:46:11he doesn't like.
00:46:1332 hours
00:46:14after Rainbow
00:46:15was found dead
00:46:16and 10 days
00:46:17after Elizabeth
00:46:18was shot
00:46:18on her doorstep,
00:46:20Terrell Brooks
00:46:20is charged
00:46:21with their murders.
00:46:31He's in custody,
00:46:32but we've got
00:46:33a lot more investigation
00:46:34to do.
00:46:35We've seized his truck.
00:46:36We hope we find
00:46:37some more evidence
00:46:38in that.
00:46:39We've met
00:46:40the threshold
00:46:41of probable cause,
00:46:42but as far as
00:46:43proving it beyond
00:46:44a reasonable doubt,
00:46:45that's an ongoing effort.
00:46:47There's still
00:46:48a lot of work to do.
00:46:50Mark and I
00:46:50have a lot
00:46:51of follow-up
00:46:52that we have to do
00:46:53to make sure
00:46:54that he gets convicted
00:46:55and put away
00:46:55because he does not
00:46:56need to be on the streets.
00:46:59It was only a matter
00:47:00of time
00:47:00before he found
00:47:01another vulnerable woman
00:47:02that he could do
00:47:03the same thing to.
00:47:05To kill two women
00:47:06senselessly
00:47:07within a week
00:47:08of each other,
00:47:09there's no telling
00:47:10how this would have
00:47:11escalated
00:47:11or how this would have
00:47:12ended.
00:47:14I don't even have
00:47:15a year in the unit
00:47:16and I have
00:47:17someone who
00:47:17could potentially
00:47:18have turned
00:47:18into a serial killer.
00:47:34The next morning,
00:47:35while Kennedy
00:47:37and Lansdowne
00:47:38continue to build
00:47:38their keeses
00:47:39against Terrell,
00:47:41Is that the last time
00:47:41you saw her?
00:47:42Ryden fields a call
00:47:43from a woman
00:47:44who reported
00:47:45her daughter missing
00:47:45two months ago.
00:47:48And what kind
00:47:49of vehicle
00:47:49did she leave
00:47:50in with him?
00:47:51The woman says
00:47:52she saw a news report
00:47:53about Terrell's arrest
00:47:54and recognized him
00:47:55as the last person
00:47:57seen with her daughter.
00:48:00How about we talk
00:48:00in person?
00:48:03Bye-bye.
00:48:03Bye-bye.
00:48:04She said the last
00:48:08person she's
00:48:09100% positive
00:48:09that saw her daughter
00:48:10alive was driving
00:48:11an older Chevy
00:48:12primary gray truck
00:48:13that she's never
00:48:14been seen from since.
00:48:17She said,
00:48:17that's the boy
00:48:18that picked my daughter
00:48:19in.
00:48:20Do it, please.
00:48:22Wow.
00:48:24That's not good.
00:48:26We got a possible
00:48:27third victim.
00:48:34The last person
00:48:43that she's ever
00:48:44seen alive with
00:48:44was Mr. Brooks.
00:48:46Basically, mom says,
00:48:48I went to the family
00:48:48dollar to pick her
00:48:49up from work
00:48:50and she had a choice
00:48:51to get in my car
00:48:52or her boyfriend's truck
00:48:53and she chose a truck.
00:48:55What was Terrell's name?
00:48:57Tyra Whitaker.
00:49:0124-year-old Tyra Whitaker
00:49:02was reported missing
00:49:04by her family
00:49:05two months ago.
00:49:06She was born
00:49:07and raised in Tulsa
00:49:08and had been working
00:49:09several jobs
00:49:10to support
00:49:11her four-year-old son.
00:49:15This is a really
00:49:15good investigation.
00:49:17They checked
00:49:17all the hospitals.
00:49:18I mean,
00:49:18no one's ever seen
00:49:19her alive since then.
00:49:21The missing persons unit
00:49:22investigated Tyra's
00:49:23disappearance
00:49:24for over a month
00:49:25but were unable
00:49:26to find any leads.
00:49:28There's a decent chance
00:49:29she's been killed.
00:49:32Without a body,
00:49:34we're not going to be able
00:49:34to prove a whole bunch.
00:49:36The team will start
00:49:38working Tyra's case
00:49:39as a possible homicide.
00:49:41We really need
00:49:42a good workup
00:49:43on that truck.
00:49:44Crime scene detectives
00:49:45are processing
00:49:46Terrell Brooks' truck
00:49:47for evidence.
00:49:49We're going to search it.
00:49:50I think there's two phones
00:49:51in the truck.
00:49:53So we'll have to get worse.
00:49:54The team will get
00:49:55phone records
00:49:56for the cell phones
00:49:57in Terrell's truck.
00:49:58This is starting out
00:50:02not very promising
00:50:03on finding her alive.
00:50:05It's hard to do
00:50:06a no-body conviction
00:50:08in Oklahoma.
00:50:09So she'll be a missing person
00:50:11until we can find a body.
00:50:14Me and Sergeant Stiles
00:50:15are going to go talk
00:50:15to the victim's family,
00:50:17get a little more intel.
00:50:19We'll go from there.
00:50:23I'm going to shake the glove.
00:50:25Shake that sucker up.
00:50:26I'm going to shake the glove.
00:50:34Two hours in...
00:50:36Hi, is LaDonna home?
00:50:41Detective Ryden
00:50:42and Sergeant Jeremy Stiles
00:50:43speak with Tyra's family
00:50:45at her mother's house.
00:50:47So the last time you saw her
00:50:48was on the 19th?
00:50:49Is that right?
00:50:50Yeah.
00:50:52She had called and asked me
00:50:53to pick her up from work.
00:50:54She comes out
00:50:57and she gets in the car
00:50:58and she calls this guy
00:51:01on the telephone
00:51:02to tell him
00:51:03don't come and get her.
00:51:04I'm there.
00:51:06So he was like,
00:51:06oh, I'm just around the corner.
00:51:08Did he arrive in a vehicle?
00:51:10Yes.
00:51:11It's an older model truck.
00:51:14And when you're priming a car
00:51:17to paint it,
00:51:18it's that gray.
00:51:22Tyra gets her stuff
00:51:24and they leave.
00:51:25Okay.
00:51:27On the original report,
00:51:28you listed this as her phone number.
00:51:30Was that the phone number
00:51:30you had for it at that time?
00:51:32Yes.
00:51:33Okay.
00:51:34Here's the deal.
00:51:35We're going to see
00:51:36if we can figure out
00:51:36a lead to follow.
00:51:38And if we find it,
00:51:38we'll definitely give you
00:51:39a shout out of the way.
00:51:40Okay?
00:51:40Thanks, guys.
00:51:47Wander's cross,
00:51:48she's alive
00:51:49and she's somewhere.
00:51:50We haven't found her yet.
00:51:59Later that afternoon...
00:52:01So we just got done
00:52:02processing the truck.
00:52:04No gun, no ammo,
00:52:06no ammo boxes,
00:52:07no gun boxes,
00:52:08no nothing like that.
00:52:10We blew started
00:52:11and there was a reaction
00:52:12in the passenger seat
00:52:14and where his shoulder would be
00:52:17if he's driving,
00:52:18all right up in there.
00:52:20It's going to get sent over to the lab.
00:52:22The swabs will be sent
00:52:23to the crime lab
00:52:23to see if the substance
00:52:25found on the seats
00:52:25in Terrell's truck
00:52:27is blood.
00:52:29If it actually is blood,
00:52:30then we're going to start
00:52:31comparing it to our victim's blood
00:52:33to see if it's theirs.
00:52:35We'll just have to send
00:52:36this stuff off
00:52:37and time will tell.
00:52:38Yep.
00:52:38The next day,
00:52:51detectives turn back
00:52:52to Terrell.
00:52:54Me and Ronnie went to jail
00:52:56and picked up Mr. Brooks
00:52:57and we brought him down here
00:52:58and we're going to see
00:52:59if he wants to have a conversation
00:53:00about Tyra.
00:53:02Legally, we can still do that.
00:53:03We won't ask him any questions
00:53:05about Mark or Deggsy's case.
00:53:08This is a brand new case
00:53:09we just learned about,
00:53:10so we'll see what he has to say.
00:53:19Okay, Tyra.
00:53:20I'm not going to ask you questions
00:53:25about those at all.
00:53:27I'm an investigative missing person.
00:53:32Who is that?
00:53:35Tyra.
00:53:38And how do you know Tyra?
00:53:40We met at the bus stop.
00:53:41I kind of took her in
00:53:43under my wing
00:53:44and anytime she needed
00:53:47a ride to work
00:53:48or a ride home,
00:53:49she knew who to call.
00:53:51And where was she working?
00:53:53She worked at Dollar General
00:53:54for like two weeks
00:53:57before she died.
00:53:59Okay.
00:54:01Was she your girlfriend?
00:54:03Just a, I mean...
00:54:04Or wherever she's at.
00:54:06I understand.
00:54:06So, was she your girlfriend?
00:54:09No.
00:54:11Okay.
00:54:12And mom says that
00:54:14she was at the store
00:54:15going to pick her up
00:54:16and that Tyra called you
00:54:18and that you arrived
00:54:19and the way I understand
00:54:21that Tyra got in your truck.
00:54:23Yes, sir.
00:54:23Okay.
00:54:24So, where did you guys
00:54:25go that night?
00:54:27She stayed with me
00:54:28near my truck.
00:54:29Okay.
00:54:30But whenever we split,
00:54:31she couldn't stay with me.
00:54:33How many days, weeks,
00:54:34or months
00:54:35did you guys split up
00:54:36after you talked
00:54:37to the mom
00:54:37at the family dollar?
00:54:39It was probably like a week.
00:54:41We split up
00:54:42because I woke up one day
00:54:43and I was sleeping on my back
00:54:45and she had slid her leg
00:54:46under my leg.
00:54:47Uh-huh.
00:54:48And it was like
00:54:49right close to my butt.
00:54:51And I was like,
00:54:52don't I ever do that again,
00:54:53you know?
00:54:54You know, that's uncomfortable.
00:54:56I've already been molested
00:54:57while I'm asleep.
00:54:58Terrell says that
00:54:59three years ago,
00:55:00he was sexually abused
00:55:02while he was sleeping.
00:55:04So then you said
00:55:05you confronted her.
00:55:06Yeah, I told her never
00:55:07not to do that again.
00:55:09After that,
00:55:10she was just like,
00:55:10oh, I was just getting
00:55:12comfortable with you.
00:55:13I said, no,
00:55:14that's not how it goes.
00:55:15Don't do that.
00:55:18So after that,
00:55:19me and her relationship
00:55:20was not cool at all.
00:55:23I told her,
00:55:23me and you,
00:55:24we can't be together.
00:55:26So she had her friend
00:55:27come and pick her up.
00:55:29Did you see the friend?
00:55:31No.
00:55:31Okay.
00:55:33Have you had any contact
00:55:34with her since that day?
00:55:37No.
00:55:39If you said something
00:55:39in this interview
00:55:40that I know
00:55:40Detective Levin caught
00:55:41and I caught too,
00:55:43you said she was dead.
00:55:47I said I'm investigating
00:55:48a missing person,
00:55:49but you said she's dead.
00:55:51I agree with you,
00:55:52she is dead.
00:55:53I think you know
00:55:54exactly what happened.
00:55:55Terrell, look at me.
00:56:12I think you have some issues
00:56:13and I think she did something
00:56:16to set you off.
00:56:17And I think when you get set off,
00:56:18you do some stuff
00:56:19that you regret.
00:56:20Did you and her
00:56:26get in a fire
00:56:26at any point
00:56:27and something happened?
00:56:30Sure?
00:56:31Yes, sir.
00:56:35I just don't like betrayal.
00:56:39I understand that.
00:56:41What she did,
00:56:42I mean, yeah,
00:56:43it made me mad
00:56:43and everything,
00:56:44but I wouldn't,
00:56:45I wouldn't hurt her.
00:56:46One of the issues
00:56:50I see, Terrell,
00:56:51is that the last person
00:56:52we can confirm
00:56:54that she's been seen with
00:56:55was you.
00:56:56The thing that makes sense
00:56:58to me is that
00:57:00all the stuff
00:57:01you've talked about
00:57:01that bothers you
00:57:03and then she starts
00:57:04doing some of those things
00:57:05and that you did something.
00:57:09Where is she at?
00:57:10I told you everything
00:57:12that I wanted to talk about.
00:57:17Coming with me
00:57:18with some evidence,
00:57:19it's just hearsay,
00:57:20like,
00:57:21just like the other two women.
00:57:24Just because I knew them,
00:57:25just because I know her
00:57:26don't mean that
00:57:27I'm responsible for that.
00:57:30For what?
00:57:31For her death.
00:57:34I know these people
00:57:36betrayed me
00:57:36and we split up
00:57:37and everything.
00:57:38Did y'all can't just tell me,
00:57:40oh, yeah,
00:57:40you were the last person
00:57:41seen with her,
00:57:42so you did it?
00:57:43It makes no sense
00:57:46that it's anyone else.
00:57:48You're the last one
00:57:49that she's been seen with.
00:57:50She hasn't went to work
00:57:51since then.
00:57:52She hasn't talked
00:57:53to family and friends
00:57:54since then.
00:57:56She left.
00:57:58That's the last time
00:57:59I've seen her.
00:58:01That's the end of it.
00:58:05Okay.
00:58:06Okay.
00:58:07What's it take?
00:58:10Did he do it?
00:58:11Definitely take.
00:58:12If you do this.
00:58:13Yeah.
00:58:15He said all three
00:58:16of them betrayed me.
00:58:17Right.
00:58:18Yeah.
00:58:19That's his whole thing.
00:58:20Just betrayed.
00:58:21And the first thing
00:58:22he said when they sat down
00:58:23was,
00:58:24she's dead.
00:58:27Your heart rate
00:58:28up a little like mine?
00:58:29Yeah.
00:58:29The first five minutes
00:58:29he goes, yeah, she's dead.
00:58:30And I was like, oh, crap,
00:58:31he doesn't admit it.
00:58:32She's dead.
00:58:32He's going to confess.
00:58:33And he got close,
00:58:34but he said she's dead.
00:58:39What's next, Dad?
00:58:40Do we get her his phone records
00:58:42and see where her phone
00:58:43might have gone?
00:58:44Yes.
00:58:45The team will get a warrant
00:58:46for Tyra's cell phone records,
00:58:48hoping to get location data
00:58:49from the day she disappeared.
00:58:52Hopefully some phone stuff
00:58:53will help out,
00:58:53but the problem is
00:58:54we don't have anybody
00:58:55saying he did it.
00:58:57There's no gun.
00:58:58There's a lot of common
00:58:59denominators, same casings.
00:59:01That's the best thing.
00:59:04Yeah.
00:59:05I've got a lot of work to do.
00:59:07We all got a lot of work.
00:59:08Yeah.
00:59:09There's a lot of work
00:59:11to do on all three
00:59:12of these cases.
00:59:14We find a body,
00:59:15find physical evidence,
00:59:16a witness.
00:59:17There's lots of things
00:59:18that can go right,
00:59:19and just patience
00:59:19is on our side.
00:59:21So we'll see.
00:59:23Two weeks later.
00:59:36This data is super accurate.
00:59:40Detective Lansdowne
00:59:41takes over the case
00:59:42and gets the location data
00:59:44from Tyra's phone.
00:59:46It's basically showing
00:59:47which towers
00:59:49the device was connected to,
00:59:51where these two arcs overlap
00:59:54is a pretty good indication
00:59:56that that device
00:59:57was in that area
00:59:58at that time.
01:00:00We know where her phone
01:00:02was at January 19th,
01:00:03which is in North Nogales.
01:00:05Tyra's phone
01:00:06was tracked to a house
01:00:07in West Tulsa
01:00:08the night before
01:00:09she disappeared.
01:00:126.33 a.m.
01:00:14on December 20th,
01:00:15her phone goes
01:00:17all the way out east.
01:00:19Early the next morning,
01:00:21her phone moves
01:00:21to a wooded area
01:00:2220 miles east.
01:00:26And then after this,
01:00:28it goes off.
01:00:31There's a very good possibility
01:00:33maybe she could be there.
01:00:35We need a check.
01:00:42So we are going up
01:00:43to this area,
01:00:44which is very secluded,
01:00:46very wooded.
01:00:47Detectives
01:00:48head out to the last location
01:00:49where Tyra's phone hit
01:00:50to search for her body.
01:00:52You don't go out there
01:00:54to go hiking.
01:00:56You go out there
01:00:57to get rid of things.
01:00:59Common sense tells me
01:01:00he's dumping her body.
01:01:01Right.
01:01:01All right.
01:01:11So you think he drove
01:01:17back in here then?
01:01:19Check it out.
01:01:20I think it's worth a shot.
01:01:20All right.
01:01:22I hope we find her.
01:01:24after searching for two hours.
01:01:46It's just so wooded back here.
01:01:51You think a dog would help?
01:01:53They decide to come back
01:01:55in the morning
01:01:55with the canine team.
01:01:56It's just such a big area
01:02:01that she could be anywhere.
01:02:03Tomorrow we'll be out there
01:02:05with the cadaver dogs.
01:02:07I know she's dead
01:02:08and so now
01:02:09the next best thing
01:02:10is to be able to find her.
01:02:13These two cases
01:02:13we have right now
01:02:14are circumstantial
01:02:15and we have to get
01:02:16something solid
01:02:17for this third case.
01:02:19The more we can do
01:02:21on any one of these cases
01:02:22to strengthen it,
01:02:23it's going to strengthen
01:02:23all three of them.
01:02:26The next afternoon,
01:02:39What's up, girl?
01:02:41Canine officer
01:02:41Robin Mendenhall
01:02:42makes a discovery.
01:02:44It's right in the arcs
01:02:47where Lance showed me.
01:02:48Okay.
01:02:49It's...
01:02:49I have to go down
01:02:50through 5,000
01:02:52along this creek
01:02:53and it's kind of by ponds.
01:02:55Okay.
01:02:55I mean, all we can do
01:02:56is look.
01:03:09I came up here
01:03:10just to get a layout
01:03:11of the area
01:03:12and when I was walking
01:03:13through,
01:03:14I saw the red
01:03:15and I just came down
01:03:16and checked it out.
01:03:18Looks like a female's
01:03:20jacket to me.
01:03:20It does look like
01:03:21a female's jacket.
01:03:23That looks like tissue.
01:03:24That definitely smells
01:03:27like a body.
01:03:28Yes, it stinks.
01:03:31You might have found her.
01:03:47Those are for sure genes.
01:03:48Oh, undoubtedly.
01:03:49Yeah, no doubt.
01:03:50Those are genes.
01:03:51You've got the anthropologist
01:03:56coming in?
01:03:57She'll be here
01:03:57in 10 minutes.
01:03:5710 minutes, okay.
01:04:00Think you drive the barrier?
01:04:01Yeah, and when you look
01:04:02at this specific area,
01:04:04all of this is freshly overturned
01:04:06and it is right
01:04:07and it is right
01:04:07where her phone was.
01:04:18Hello.
01:04:19Hi.
01:04:19Howdy, howdy.
01:04:20How are you all?
01:04:21Forensic anthropologist
01:04:23Dr. Angela Berg
01:04:24will determine
01:04:25if the remains
01:04:26are human.
01:04:30I'm trying to figure out
01:04:31what this thing is
01:04:32right here.
01:04:33I feel.
01:04:35Is that part of the pelvis?
01:04:37This is the ischium.
01:04:39This is the greater
01:04:41trochanter of a femur.
01:04:42So you've got pelvis.
01:04:43That's what I was thinking.
01:04:44And you've got a femur.
01:04:48This is definitely human.
01:04:49You didn't expose this, did you?
01:04:55No, it was like that.
01:04:56I think an animal
01:04:57has probably just kind of
01:04:58wrapped around in here.
01:05:02We have a storm coming,
01:05:03so I don't think
01:05:04we should address this
01:05:05right now.
01:05:05If we can wait,
01:05:07we can put a tarp on it
01:05:08and put an officer here.
01:05:10Yeah, let's do that.
01:05:13We've got a storm
01:05:14coming in this evening.
01:05:15Heavy hail, heavy rain.
01:05:17And so what we're going to do
01:05:18is we're going to tarp
01:05:19this over.
01:05:20And then we'll have to have
01:05:21an officer sit here all night.
01:05:23And then we'll start
01:05:24an excavation tomorrow.
01:05:32One hour later.
01:05:34We're going to go talk
01:05:35to LaDonna Whitaker
01:05:36and just tell her that
01:05:38we have found a body.
01:05:40Lansdowne and White
01:05:41head out to meet
01:05:42with Tyra's mother.
01:05:44We don't know
01:05:45that it's Tyra yet,
01:05:46but we wanted to let her know
01:05:48just so that they can start
01:05:49preparing for the possibility.
01:06:10Hello.
01:06:10Hi, are you LaDonna?
01:06:11Yes.
01:06:12LaDonna, hi.
01:06:12I'm Detective Lansdowne.
01:06:13That's Detective White.
01:06:14I want to tell you something,
01:06:17and I can't say this
01:06:18within a definitive
01:06:19100% positive,
01:06:21but we have found
01:06:22remains of someone.
01:06:25And...
01:06:25And I want to prepare...
01:06:31I want to prepare you.
01:06:34Before this hits the news
01:06:36and everything,
01:06:37I just want to let you know.
01:06:38Um, I will tell you
01:06:40that there's a very
01:06:41good chance of it.
01:06:45Come on, sit down, baby.
01:06:46Yeah, yeah.
01:06:47Have a seat, sweetie.
01:06:50We don't like to do,
01:06:51you know, notifications and stuff
01:06:53until we're positive,
01:06:54but I feel strongly enough
01:06:57that this is Tyra
01:06:58that we came to talk to you guys.
01:06:59I'm glad, y'all.
01:07:02I'm glad.
01:07:02I was just...
01:07:04I wanted...
01:07:06She was a good person.
01:07:10She had a good heart.
01:07:13Believe me,
01:07:14we're feeling for you.
01:07:16We will let you know
01:07:17in the moment,
01:07:17we know with 100% certainty.
01:07:21Do you just want
01:07:22a phone call from me?
01:07:23Or do you want me
01:07:24to come in person?
01:07:25Call my...
01:07:26Call Renee?
01:07:27Okay.
01:07:28We'll be in touch.
01:07:29Very soon.
01:07:31All right, guys.
01:07:31You're welcome.
01:07:45The next morning...
01:07:46And now we're gonna get out there
01:07:47and recover the body.
01:07:52I'd like to get, like,
01:07:53a circle of people around
01:07:54lifting the soil out.
01:07:56Once we have that soil out,
01:07:58then we'll start actually
01:07:59on the recovery.
01:08:00So we'll be working around
01:08:02where we think the body
01:08:03is buried
01:08:03and working our way
01:08:04down to her.
01:08:06Anything else?
01:08:07I feel good.
01:08:08after an hour of digging...
01:08:17After an hour of digging...
01:08:29Is that plastic?
01:08:30It feels like a trash bag of plastic.
01:08:35I think he might have put her
01:08:38in a trash bag.
01:08:40Yeah, that's sad, man.
01:08:43This poor girl
01:08:44threw away like a piece of trash.
01:08:49Trying to keep it intact
01:08:51as much as we can.
01:08:52Just pull it back and then...
01:09:04We've got her out.
01:09:12Good job, guys.
01:09:13She's gonna get taken down
01:09:19to the medical examiner's office.
01:09:21Hopefully we'll, uh...
01:09:23You know, get her
01:09:23positively identified.
01:09:24The next day...
01:09:34Hi, Lacey.
01:09:39Hey, Angela.
01:09:40Lansdowne reaches out
01:09:41to Dr. Burr.
01:09:43Just calling to see
01:09:44about an update
01:09:45on the body that we found.
01:09:46Okay, so we have
01:10:02positive ID
01:10:03via fingerprints
01:10:06as Tyra Whitaker.
01:10:08Okay.
01:10:09Okay.
01:10:09She has sharp force trauma
01:10:16to her head and neck
01:10:18with cut marks
01:10:20into the bone also.
01:10:21Wow.
01:10:22The autopsy revealed
01:10:24that Tyra was stamped
01:10:2520 to 30 times
01:10:26in the head,
01:10:28face,
01:10:28and neck.
01:10:30She also has
01:10:31what appears to be
01:10:32maybe blood force trauma
01:10:33to her mouth
01:10:34and she has
01:10:36three chipped teeth.
01:10:37Okay.
01:10:39Okay.
01:10:40Thank you so much, Angela.
01:10:42All right.
01:10:42Take care.
01:10:43Bye-bye.
01:10:43You too.
01:10:43Bye.
01:10:45This girl suffered
01:10:46a very painful death.
01:10:49I'm going to call
01:10:51Renee,
01:10:51which is Tyra's aunt,
01:10:53and let her know
01:10:54the really bad news.
01:10:59Hello?
01:11:00Renee?
01:11:01Yes?
01:11:02Hey, it's
01:11:03Detective Lansdowne.
01:11:04Well, I have
01:11:05some bad news.
01:11:06We did get a positive ID
01:11:07and the body
01:11:08that we found
01:11:08was Tyra.
01:11:14Yeah, I'm sorry,
01:11:15Renee.
01:11:16I really am.
01:11:17No, it's okay.
01:11:19We found her
01:11:20and we really
01:11:21wanted her
01:11:22returned to us.
01:11:24And that's
01:11:25what happened.
01:11:27Now we just have
01:11:28to give justice
01:11:29for her.
01:11:30Well, I can promise
01:11:31you that everybody
01:11:32here in the office
01:11:33is doing everything
01:11:34to make sure
01:11:35that there is
01:11:35justice for her.
01:11:38Yeah, you're welcome.
01:11:39You're welcome.
01:11:40Bye-bye.
01:11:41Okay, bye.
01:11:48Later that day,
01:11:49the team decides
01:11:54to confront
01:11:54Terrell
01:11:55with the new evidence.
01:11:56All right, buddy.
01:11:57That far chair,
01:11:58I'll be right back
01:11:58with you.
01:12:01Ronnie and I
01:12:01went over to the jail
01:12:02to bring him over here
01:12:03before he had wanted
01:12:04to see some evidence.
01:12:06And before we
01:12:07transported him over,
01:12:08Ronnie showed him
01:12:08the picture of the coat
01:12:09and he acknowledged
01:12:12the picture.
01:12:13And I'm sure
01:12:14that he's sitting
01:12:14over there
01:12:15and it's driving him crazy.
01:12:18There's a possibility
01:12:19we may get something here,
01:12:20but we'll see.
01:12:28Here, if you stand up,
01:12:30just come in.
01:12:33First off,
01:12:34I wanted to say
01:12:35that I want
01:12:36to get some help.
01:12:36I can't imagine that, man.
01:12:58I really can't.
01:12:58That's got to be tough
01:12:59that you went through that.
01:13:01It's definitely stuff
01:13:03that we will document
01:13:03and that will be
01:13:05presented to
01:13:06attorneys,
01:13:07the counselors
01:13:08and all that stuff, okay?
01:13:10So, that being said,
01:13:13as we came to the jail
01:13:15earlier today,
01:13:15I showed you that picture.
01:13:16Do you remember that?
01:13:17What was that picture of?
01:13:20That picture was
01:13:21of Tommy's jacket.
01:13:23Okay.
01:13:24So, we've found
01:13:25that jacket, okay?
01:13:28Where do you think
01:13:29we found it at?
01:13:31Wherever she was buried.
01:13:33Okay.
01:13:34Where was she buried at?
01:13:38I don't want to answer
01:13:39that question.
01:13:45He just feels like
01:13:46I'm traumatized
01:13:48for what happened
01:13:48to me before.
01:13:51If I found guilty,
01:13:52I want to know
01:13:53I want to help.
01:13:54I understand.
01:13:55I really do.
01:13:56I understand that,
01:13:56and I promise you
01:13:57that's stuff that is
01:13:58going to be documented,
01:13:59without a doubt.
01:14:00But I think you're
01:14:01going to feel
01:14:02a little bit better
01:14:02if you're honest
01:14:03and tell me
01:14:04some more of these details.
01:14:06And, again...
01:14:07I'm not,
01:14:08because I know
01:14:08I got a problem.
01:14:09I know that.
01:14:12Everybody in my corner
01:14:13is telling me,
01:14:14you need help.
01:14:14You need help.
01:14:15You need help.
01:14:16You do.
01:14:17I think you do.
01:14:18I really do.
01:14:19And you're saying
01:14:20you want to get help.
01:14:21Which is good.
01:14:22But in order to do that,
01:14:24in my opinion,
01:14:25you've got to
01:14:25take responsibility
01:14:26for stuff you've done
01:14:27in the past also.
01:14:30I want you to be
01:14:31straight up with me
01:14:32and tell me more
01:14:32of these details
01:14:33about Tyra.
01:14:35What happened to her?
01:14:36What you did to her?
01:14:38Where you buried her?
01:14:41Let's start right here.
01:14:43Take the first step.
01:14:45Why I can't do that?
01:14:48Why?
01:14:48Why is that?
01:14:49Why?
01:14:50Why can't?
01:14:51Because you haven't
01:14:52came to me
01:14:53wherever it is.
01:14:55Show me.
01:14:56Like,
01:14:57Tyrell,
01:14:58this is what we have.
01:14:59We know what you did.
01:15:00You know what I'm saying?
01:15:02I can't tell you
01:15:03everything we know.
01:15:05I showed you the code.
01:15:06You already said
01:15:07she was buried.
01:15:07And I've confirmed for you.
01:15:09Yeah, she was buried.
01:15:11I know how she was killed.
01:15:13Okay?
01:15:14Right.
01:15:16Tyra deserves justice.
01:15:17Her family deserves
01:15:18some answers.
01:15:20And you're the one
01:15:20holding those.
01:15:23I told you,
01:15:24everything.
01:15:24No, you didn't.
01:15:27I told you
01:15:28the problems I had.
01:15:29I know that.
01:15:31But you didn't tell me
01:15:31how you killed her.
01:15:33You didn't tell me
01:15:34where you buried her.
01:15:36How did you
01:15:37kill Tyra?
01:15:39I can't answer that question.
01:15:57Do you not remember?
01:16:01Or do you just
01:16:02not want to tell me?
01:16:03I don't know
01:16:05anybody that kills
01:16:07someone.
01:16:08You know what I'm saying?
01:16:10They don't tell anybody
01:16:11how they did anything.
01:16:12They don't tell anybody.
01:16:16I need the evidence.
01:16:17I've told you the evidence
01:16:18that I can tell you
01:16:19up to this point.
01:16:20If you answer my questions
01:16:22and are truthful,
01:16:23I will give you more.
01:16:25But you're not giving me
01:16:26anything.
01:16:26Well, I'm going to wait
01:16:29until I talk to my lawyer.
01:16:34My lawyer,
01:16:35he's going to be the one
01:16:36to tell me what y'all have.
01:16:38All right.
01:16:39Well, then we're done.
01:16:39I have no doubt
01:16:53he killed all three
01:16:54of those women.
01:16:55But I just,
01:16:56I don't think he's ever
01:16:57going to tell us.
01:16:59He's admitting to things.
01:17:01He's not giving the details,
01:17:02but he's admitting.
01:17:03Something bad happened,
01:17:04I just don't want
01:17:05to talk about it.
01:17:07Because he knows
01:17:08that if he tells us,
01:17:09he's going to end up
01:17:09going to prison forever.
01:17:21Two days later.
01:17:24Terrell has made
01:17:25some comments
01:17:25on his jail calls
01:17:27about people snitching on him,
01:17:29people knowing what's up.
01:17:30On a recorded jail call,
01:17:32Terrell mentioned
01:17:33the name of a friend
01:17:34who he thinks
01:17:35may have talked to police
01:17:36about Tyra's murder.
01:17:37He was like,
01:17:39I know he's talking
01:17:40because of the questions
01:17:41they were asking me.
01:17:44They were at his house
01:17:46the night before Tyra
01:17:47was murdered.
01:17:49We know that her phone
01:17:50was over at his house
01:17:51because we looked
01:17:52at her phone records.
01:17:54Detectives discovered
01:17:55the friend lives
01:17:55at the house
01:17:56where Tyra's phone hit
01:17:57on the night
01:17:58she disappeared.
01:17:59He got arrested
01:18:01this weekend.
01:18:02Just some traffic
01:18:03tickets
01:18:04and he's in city jail.
01:18:06So we'll go grab him
01:18:07and, um,
01:18:10see what he has to say.
01:18:11Yeah.
01:18:1430 minutes later...
01:18:16I got you a prize.
01:18:22That's all we had.
01:18:23We are scraping
01:18:24the bottom for candy.
01:18:28All right.
01:18:29You already know
01:18:29why we're here.
01:18:30So I'm gonna let you
01:18:31take the floor, okay?
01:18:32This is about Terrell.
01:18:35Just tell me everything
01:18:36that you know.
01:18:36I really can't tell you
01:18:39too much about him.
01:18:40I would stop calling him,
01:18:42stop talking to him
01:18:43because I really don't like
01:18:45the type of that he does.
01:18:47Just weird shit.
01:18:50So what would be weird
01:18:51in your world?
01:18:55Okay.
01:18:58He had a girlfriend, right?
01:19:00Uh-huh.
01:19:01And then
01:19:01he would just say weird
01:19:03like
01:19:04the girl be doing
01:19:06something to him
01:19:07when he'd sleep
01:19:07or something like that.
01:19:09And I'd be like,
01:19:10bro,
01:19:10like,
01:19:11yeah,
01:19:11nobody...
01:19:12Nah, bro.
01:19:14He really just
01:19:15made me distance myself
01:19:16like away from me.
01:19:17Let me ask you this.
01:19:18Who was his girlfriend
01:19:19at the time?
01:19:21I don't even remember
01:19:21her name.
01:19:23We showed you a picture.
01:19:24You'd know her.
01:19:25Hell yeah.
01:19:28Lansdowne
01:19:29shows him a photo
01:19:30of Tyra.
01:19:32That's her.
01:19:32Okay.
01:19:33What do you know
01:19:36about her?
01:19:37Nice person.
01:19:38Wonderful,
01:19:38wonderful,
01:19:39wonderful.
01:19:42I'm gonna be real
01:19:43with you.
01:19:44We found her
01:19:45in a hole
01:19:46in the ground,
01:19:47buried.
01:19:47Buried.
01:19:48Buried.
01:19:52It's
01:19:52all too much.
01:19:54It's a lot.
01:19:56Tyra
01:19:56deserved better.
01:20:00Yeah,
01:20:00that she did.
01:20:01Did he ever
01:20:04tell you
01:20:05that he did
01:20:05anything to him?
01:20:08He said he dumped
01:20:09the police.
01:20:12Did he give you
01:20:13a clue as to where?
01:20:15Nah.
01:20:16Can you say that?
01:20:18But he did say
01:20:19he dumped it somewhere.
01:20:22When did he tell you
01:20:23all this stuff?
01:20:24Like,
01:20:24two months ago.
01:20:26How did you know
01:20:27that he met Tyra?
01:20:30You really want to know?
01:20:31Yeah.
01:20:31He told me he was gonna
01:20:32do it before it happened.
01:20:37Okay.
01:20:37Tell him,
01:20:38share with me that.
01:20:39What did he say
01:20:39he was gonna do to her?
01:20:41He was gonna kill her.
01:20:43Did he tell you
01:20:44why he wanted to kill her?
01:20:46Tell me about
01:20:47some
01:20:47when I'm sleeping
01:20:48or some
01:20:49what did he say?
01:20:49I don't believe
01:20:52that girl alone.
01:20:52I don't do nothing
01:20:53to that girl.
01:20:54Let that girl be.
01:20:57So when he tells you
01:20:58that he did do it,
01:21:00what did he say
01:21:00exactly again?
01:21:02I got rid of him.
01:21:04I don't know
01:21:05if I would
01:21:05keep doing
01:21:05the body somewhere.
01:21:09I'm like,
01:21:11wow.
01:21:15That's great.
01:21:15All right.
01:21:18Sit tight.
01:21:20We do appreciate it.
01:21:21Yeah, thank you.
01:21:22This is huge.
01:21:33This puts this case
01:21:34over the top now.
01:21:36It's went from
01:21:36circumstantial
01:21:37to actual witness
01:21:38who's talked to Terrell
01:21:39that said this.
01:21:41I'm super stoked about it.
01:21:43This is our
01:21:44strongest case now.
01:21:46I think it's pushed it
01:21:48to the point that
01:21:48without question
01:21:49we could go ahead
01:21:50and do an add-on charge
01:21:51for Tyra's murder.
01:21:54I think he killed
01:21:55these three women
01:21:56and didn't give it
01:21:57a second thought.
01:21:58We're extremely lucky
01:21:59that we got him
01:22:00when we did.
01:22:01I have no question
01:22:02that there would
01:22:03have been more.
01:22:05Yeah.
01:22:05Yeah.
01:22:05We're so much better.
01:22:06We're so much better.
01:22:07We're so much better.
01:22:08We're so much better.
01:22:08We're so much better.
01:22:08We're so much better.
01:22:10We're so much better.
01:22:10We're so much better.
01:22:11We're so much better.
01:22:11We're so much better.
01:22:12We're so much better.
01:22:12We're so much better.
01:22:13We're so much better.
01:22:14We're so much better.
01:22:14We're so much better.
01:22:14We're so much better.
01:22:15We're so much better.
01:22:15We're so much better.
01:22:16We're so much better.
01:22:16We're so much better.
01:22:17We're so much better.
01:22:17We're so much better.
01:22:18We're so much better.
01:22:18We're so much better.
01:22:19We're so much better.
01:22:19We're so much better.
01:22:20We're so much better.
01:22:20This whole case is really sad, from Tyra to Elizabeth to Rainbow.
01:22:44I used to work in domestic violence before I came over to Homicide.
01:22:49And I know that the most dangerous time for victims is when they're trying to leave the relationship.
01:22:55Elizabeth tried to leave. She did leave. And he killed her a short time later.
01:23:00He knew Rainbow all of three days. She was nice enough to give him a place to stay.
01:23:05And the day that she had kicked him out, I believe he came back and killed her that night.
01:23:10I don't know what happened with Tyra. She very well could have tried to leave him as well.
01:23:15If anyone, male or female, is in a domestic violence situation,
01:23:20there's things that you can do to protect yourself to get out of this situation.
01:23:25There's 24-hour hotlines that you can call. You can get a protective order.
01:23:30There is help available.
01:23:32Domestic violence is very common, and it affects everyone.
01:23:36It doesn't matter who you are, it can affect you.
01:23:4716 months after Tyra's body was discovered.
01:23:51Her big old smile.
01:23:55You couldn't be around Tyra without being happy.
01:24:02She was a very happy person.
01:24:08She enjoyed life while she was married.
01:24:11Yeah.
01:24:14It was very difficult to hear that my child was deceased.
01:24:20Having to tell her child that he won't be able to see or hear from his mother again is difficult.
01:24:33She won't be at her son's graduation.
01:24:37She won't have a first dance with him at his wedding.
01:24:43People have to still live with what somebody else did.
01:24:50Yeah, he's going to have to answer to things that he did, but we all have to suffer.
01:24:58And so do the other victims' families and friends, their children.
01:25:04He can be sentenced to the maximum sentence, and he wouldn't be good enough for me.
01:25:12He took away something that never can be given back.
