President Lai Speaks Out on Budget Impasse

President Lai Ching-te is calling on opposition lawmakers to pass the 2026 general budget in full. The Kuomintang says they may move forward with certain parts of the budget, including a commuter pass program, to reduce the effects of the stalled budget on citizens.
