Basilisks can create the deserts they live in, but the Sonoran desert was here before I arrived. Honest! (I'm in Arizona, if you don't know where the Sonoran desert is.)
Occasionally inspired to write short scenes of characters loosely based on actual events (autobiografictional, to use a word coined by Lynda Barry) and fetish pieces.
Broke out of the shell thinking I was asexual, but then I found out I was super gay when I met

Say hello if you still go to Tapestries or FurryMUCK!
Sometimes found at other sites:
SoFurry
Weasyl
And maybe some other places as well!

March BasilCock Wrap-Up (G)
Happy April Fools!
A bit more started showing up towards the end of March than has been appearing for the rest of 2026:
A natural history museum and wildlife sancuary in Texas has dragons! A cockatrice call is mentioned but there are not pictures (naturally). It's part of a display made by Dino Don, the "#1 Dinosaur Educational Resource" (according to their page). They may have brought out Don's basilisk too. You can see them and several other dinosaurs and mythological creatures in the video linked in the page.
A sound effect button: Cockatrice attack sound effect which does NOT come with the aforementioned display. (I think someone hid a microphone out back in my nesting box, maybe?) Check out the many other sound effects collected there.
I believe this artist has come up before; The Redheaded Poet uploaded about a 1 minute highlight reel of her sculpt of a hatchling cockatrice. It's just in time for Easter! I can get you some of your own with a little bit of notice...heh heh heh.
If you'd rather have something more modern, there's this Tamagochi-type pet/pin. Can withstand neglect like nothing else, from the description.
A strange but interesting hit: Triple Crowned Cockatrice mural. I'm unclear if it was commissioned or "minted" by a person or group "MaFriends". The blockchain Etherium is mentioned...so I guess saving it is tantamount to stealing a non-fungible token? Wicked! It's also unclear why it showed up now; it seems to have existed for at least four years. Maybe a bidding war started, stirring it up from the depths where it had remained hidden?
Even older but less strange: Cockatrice Brewery!. The brewery has existed for about 30 years, the blog for a little bit less...so why show up now? Who cares! If it were closer I'd give their wares a try.
This year is now about a quarter of the way down. Things are tough and scary for a lot of people I know. Keep on keeping on for as long as you can.
