This is in contrast to narrow AI which focuses on specific tasks like facial recognition or chatbots. What is Artificial General Intelligence(AGI)?
Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) is the hypothetical type of AI that would have an understanding and ability to learn with the knowledge and apply it to the wide range of tasks much like the cognitive ability in humans.
Examples:
- Problem Solving: An AGI would look at complicated data sets trying to understand the trends and making predictions. A data analyst does this work.
- Learning and Adaptation: Even if the AGI discovers a new type of software or tool it may use it to its advantage once it has learned how to use it without needing specific programming for the tool.
- Interpersonal Skills: An AGI can interact with customers in the same way as a human representative by using natural language processing to understand inquiries and respond accordingly.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) generally refers to the simulation by machines especially computer systems of human intelligence. It is a wide range of technologies and methodologies that enable such machines to perform tasks previously thought to require human intelligence including learning, reasoning, problem-solving and perception.
Examples:
- Chatbots: A customer service chatbot may be able to understand queries and give relevant answers, hence learning from those interactions.
- Self-driving cars: It make use of AI algorithms for the interpretation of sensory data flow from its surroundings in order to move safely in its environment, making actual driving decisions at real time.
