Steps to Insert and Format Charts

Step 1. Insert a Chart

Create a New Chart:

  • Place the cursor where you want the chart in the Word document.
  • Go to Insert > Chart in the Illustrations group.

  • In the Insert Chart dialog box:
    • Select a chart type (e.g., Column, Pie, Line).
    • Choose a subtype (e.g., Clustered Column, 3-D Pie).
    • Click OK.

  • A mini Excel-like spreadsheet opens for data entry. Input your data (e.g., categories and values).
  • Close the spreadsheet or click outside the chart to insert it into Word.

Step 2. Format Charts

Access Formatting Tools:

  • Select the chart to activate the Chart Tools contextual tab on the ribbon.
