While I enjoyed Savor, I have to say, I loved Indulge. In Indulge, we are introduced to a new cast of characters, the most memorable being Claire’s real parents. I mean, honestly, it’s about time the poor girl gets to meet dear old mom and dad. I never really formed a connection with Claire’s first set of vampire parents; whose names elude me. Well, obviously they didn’t make a huge impression on me. But, the point I am trying to make is that Claire’s real parents are about a million times better. The reunion scene between the three of them is just amazing.

And let’s talk about Arrick for a second. Shall we? Yes, we shall. Let me just start off by saying when I finished Savor, I was on the fence about both of Claire’s love interests (Dmitry and Arrick). But now, I am a full fledge, card-carrying member of team Arrick. Dmitry who?

I also loved seeing Claire stand on her own two feet. She does a lot of growing up in Indulge and begins to develop more of a spine. After everything that happened to her in Savor, it’s understandable that she wants to become more self-reliant.

But, would you like to know my favorite part of the book? Oh course you do, that’s why you’re reading this. It was easily Naos. Duncan does such an incredible job creating Claire and Arrick’s home city. The vivid imagery is just amazing; I’ve got such a beautiful image in my head. I can only hope that we spend lots of time there in future books.

There were moments of the story that read a bit slow for me. I did find myself skimming bits and pieces, but overall, I really loved the story. I don't want to give any plot points away, but the parts I struggled with were about 3/4's of the way through.

In what I have come to learn is true Megan Duncan fashion, Indulge ends with one heck of a plot-twist. I’ve read three of her books now and with every single ending I was left wanting to know more. Indulge is certainly no exception. You’ll definitely be ready for book three ASAP.

5x5 with a WOW thrown on top

I was so glad that I got to read this! I loved the first book in the series Savor!! She followed that one up with an amazing continuation. Again I'm left with awww come on are you sure there are no more pages?? EEEK! No, it's not too short it's just I wan't more! Megan's writing is beautiful and intense... and action packed!

The characters we are introduced to in Indulge are fascinating. Claire thought she felt at home before well now she knows it. Again they are well written and you will care about them and what happens to them, so get ready!

Arrick...can I please have some more of him? He is amazing... He cares deeply and he's protective but not icky sappy. His whole attitude will make you say the same thing, more please! He has a job to do this go round *not that he didn't before* but it's more dangerous this go round.

Claire... she is growing into her new self very well. She is coming into her vamp powers and man they are cool! She is fierce, loyal and cares deeply for those she is close to. Her parents are everything she dreamed, I for one and so glad.

We do get to see Dmitry... I heart him but I am not going to say anymore on him right now.... READ IT!!

READ THE ORIGINAL AND COMPLETE REVIEW AT WORD SPELUNKING

Megan Duncan continues to impress and enthrall me with her consistently awesome books! INDULGE, the second volume in the Warm Delicacy series, is a captivating and satisfying sequel to Savor.

MY BRIEF SUMMARY
INDULGE picks up right where Savor ended, with Claire and Arrick fleeing the Palace and heading to Naos and Claire’s real, vampire parents. Still feeling the sting of recent betrayals from those she loved, Claire is hesitant to allow herself to feel any excitement or longing for her real parents, but all that changes the moment she is in their loving arms. Once in Naos, and living in the Chateau with her parents, Claire quickly finds the home and family she always felt was missing. But this new found happiness is threatened by a new and dangerous evil approaching. Claire must learn to embrace and control her abilities without succumbing to the darkness herself, and she must face her feelings for two worthy men.

STORY
As with Savor, Duncan offers readers another refreshing and exciting vampire story with INDULGE. But, what I love so much about this series, and about this book especially, is that it’s not simply all paranormal vampire elements. Yes, the paranormal aspects are great and thrilling and well executed, yet, at its core, this series is very much a coming of age story. A story about a young woman finding herself, finding her place, her purpose, and dealing with all the joy, pain, and heartache that a journey like that entails…a young woman, who simply happens to be a vampire. Duncan has done an excellent job of balancing the paranormal with the emotional and the action with the romance, creating a wonderfully layered story.

INDULGE will take hold of you from page one and refuse to let go until the last page, and even then the ending will leave you reluctant to leave its world and desperate to know what happens next…curse you Megan Duncan for your awesome “You can’t seriously stop there!” endings ;) As soon as I starting reading chapter one, I was instantly and effortlessly drawn back onto Claire’s world and story. And honestly, until I started reading INDULGE, I didn’t realize how much I actually missed these characters and being a part of their story for a while.

Duncan’s vivid imagery of Naos and the Chateau is lovely. Duncan does a great job of being descriptive without boring readers with too much detail. And there’s a real beautiful, ethereal, and almost haunting quality to the way Duncan writes about the goddess Nyx. I really love the way Nyx is characterized and personified in this book.

There’s not a great deal of action in the first half of the book, but that’s okay because it’s not needed nor is it missed or longed for. The first half of the book is very character and emotion driven. This is the part of the book where we get to explore Claire’s very emotional journey as she gets to know her parents, begins to understand and embrace her power and place, and deals with her romantic feelings for both Arrick and Dmitry. I for one really enjoyed this exploration and experiencing this journey with Claire.

The last half of the book however, offers quite a bit of exciting, heart pounding action. Duncan’s battle and fight scenes are well executed and electric. I could see every fight sequence play out in my head (and totally loved it whenever Claire got the chance to be all badass).

All the intensity leads up to a helluva showdown between our heroine and the bad guy! And like I said above, the ending won’t disappoint, but it will leave you wanting(needing) more.

CHARACTERS
We get to know Claire and Arrick a bit better in INDULGE and we are introduced to a few great new characters.

Claire continues to be a strong, spunky, likable, and relatable character. All her emotions- pain, confusion, anger, heartache, desire -are very palpable. She grows a lot in this book, both as a vampire and as a young woman. She’s such a capable and determined character, who must deal with a lot of heavy stuff and does so with confidence and grace, yet she also acts her age- she thinks about clothes, she acts and speaks hastily, she can even be a bit haughty and rude. But as the book progresses we get to see her really mature and evolve into someone who is still strong, capable and determined, but who’s also thoughtful, selfless, and wise. Claire is a character that is easy to connect with and impossible not to root for.

Arrick *sighs*…I really love Arrick. He’s such an attractive blend of strong and sensitive. He’s protective of Claire, yet he doesn’t try to keep her from taking care of herself. He’s not domineering or overbearing. I love his ability to be playful around Claire. He’s such an intriguing character as well; I’m definitely interested to know more about him and his past. Arrick is definitely a swoon-worthy character…*swoons just thinking about him*…see, I told ya!

Claire’s vampire parents, Cathair and Ione, are awesome! I wasn’t expecting to love them as much as I do, but it’s kind of hard not to. Then there’s Bennett, another character who took me by complete surprise and who I ended up absolutely adoring. Bennett really gives Claire what she needs after having to leave Robin behind- a much needed friend. And of course, we get a wonderfully evil and intriguing antagonist.

ROMANCE
In INDULGE Claire finds herself in quite the pickle- she’s attracted to and has feelings for two incredibly hot, swoon-worthy guys, both of whom care deeply for her…definitely not a situation this reviewer would want to find herself in *sarcasm hand raised super high* ;)

But seriously, Claire’s romantic confliction is really well written and captivating. And even though I proudly fly my Team Arrick banner, I must admit that Claire’s feelings for both guys are so nicely explored and developed that I wouldn’t hate it (at least not much) if she ended up with Dmitry.
I did really love all the Claire/Arrick interaction in this book though *squees a bit*. The spark between them is super-hot!

MY FINAL THOUGHTS: I loved this installment in the Warm Delicacy Series even more than the first, which is really saying something! INDULGE is a captivating, edgy read that you won’t want (or be able) to put down. A MUST read book in a MUST read series.

Review originally posted at Pretty In Fiction.

A few months ago I had the chance to review Savor by Megan Duncan. (If you haven't read it, check out my review here.) Today I had the chance to review it's exciting sequel, Indulge.

Indulge continues the story of seventeen year old Claire from where Savor left off. Claire is on her way to meet her biological parents for the first time in her life. As if that wasn't a big enough deal, those parents? Oh yeah. They're vampires. Royal vampires. Not to mention, Claire's on the run from the blood-thirsty Ana, who has already tried to kill her once before. Then there's the internal battle she's waging within herself to decide who she loves. The sweet, affectionate vampire royal, Dmitry, or her protective, swoon-worthy Blood Mate, Arrick?

Indulge was a fast and fun read. There was so much action that I flew through it. It didn't drag in the same way Savor did, which is to be expected since Savor had to explain and build up the Warm Delicacy world, whereas in Indulge there wasn't nearly as much backstory. Now, I like backstory just as much as the next girl, but it's also fun to just play around in a fantasy world without so much stopping for explanations.

As in Savor, the only thing that really irritated me about the story was the main character, Claire. With everything the girl went through in the first book, you'd think she'd grow and mature a little. But no!

Claire still didn't seem to feel for her so called "love ones" very strongly. She stopped thinking about her childhood best friend, Liz, as soon as she met Robin in Savor. She never thought about the human woman she believed to be her mother for her first 17 years of life. She moved on to Nicolae and Evilyn when she thought they were her new parents, but when she found out who her real parents were she stopped caring about Nicolae and Evilyn, too. She immediately decided she loved her real parents, Ione and Cathair, more. Claire's feelings for her friends and family were fleeting and shallow and only made me think of her as a flake.

Another thing that annoyed me about Claire was how she claims to want to take everything so seriously, but she never pays attention to anything anyone tells her. And not in the "That's dangerous, don't do it," and then she does it anyway kind of way. She doesn't pay attention to anything people to tell her. Like, "The kitchen is down the hall and on the left," and eleven minutes later she'll be like, "Where did he say the kitchen was again?" For a girl who everyone says is super special she sure comes off like a vapid airhead. At one point in the book Claire is being trained to defend herself by Eli, a Blood Guard. He explains Claire's problem very simply after getting a hit on her in training.

"If you had been paying attention, I would not have been able to strike. You live too much in your head, Claire." {Indulge, page 183/366}

Hopefully most of my problems with Claire's personality will be resolved in the third book in the series, since, by the end of Indulge, I was already starting to like Claire more. She seemed to mature a little by the final chapter and I hope that's an indicator of more changes to come. Claire was actually starting to show a little badass-ness by the end and I was rooting her on the whole way. That's definitely a side of her I want to see more of in the third book.

The thing I loved most about Indulge was Arrick. He was my favorite character and he wasn't present for much of Savor, so I was mighty pleased when he was featured more in Indulge. Claire and Arrick's chemistry was definitely what kept me reading chapter after chapter. Usually I find falling-in-love-with-a-guy-who's-known-you-since-you-were-born storylines kind of creepy, but for some reason it works in Indulge. (Maybe its just because I'm in love with Arrick, but whatever...)

He's an honorable character who knows his duty to his kingdom, but who, at the same time, knows his feelings for Claire. I found their Blood Mate bond to be the most interesting part of their relationship. They can feel what the other one feels through their bond. But as Claire says at one point, their bond may either help or hinder their relationship. It's hard to talk to a guy you like when he doesn't know what you're feeling. But try talking to a guy you like who can sense what you're thinking while you're thinking about your ex-crush, who's not so much an ex as an open ended question. Yeah. Kind of makes things a bit tricker.

I really enjoyed Indulge, probably more so than I did Savor. So if you've read Savor, definitely check out this sequel. You won't be disappointed. And if you haven't read Savor, give it a try.

Indulge is the second book in the Warm Delicacy series. What I love about this series is that each book takes off right after the other ends. I know this for sure because I’ve started the newest and third book in the series, Devour.

Claire is taken by Arrick to meet her real family. Her actual vampire mother and father. Yes, she is one of the rare humans who were born from vampire parents. Not only is this rare, she is also doubly rare, because she was than turned by vampires into a vampire herself. So not only does she have her biological parents blood coursing through her, she also has her kidnappers blood and her Blood Guard’s blood mixed in. What does this create? A vampire like nobody has every encountered and with abilities and skills that present themselves during different times and some are still unknown.

Claire is welcomed back to her original home with open arms. She also finds that the townspeople do not feel threatened by the royal vampires, but hold them as equals. This is something very new to Claire who has seen how humans felt about the vampires and some of the vampires felt of the humans in the region she has left behind.

Haunted by Anna and with increasing signs that the Dark is near, Claire learns how to fight. She learns how to hone her vampire senses and how to respond with the abilities her vampire body gives her. She learns basic to advanced movements of battle which proves to be a rather great advantage when the followers of the Dark present themselves before they were expected.

I give this book 3.5 stars. Again, Megan Duncan has created a vampire world that I can enjoy, but not without some bumps here or there. Some of the structure of paragraphs were found to be a bit jumpy and I found myself rereading them, and changing them around a bit to make them work just right. The story did drag a bit, I didn’t find the connection between Claire and Bennet very real and there were other things that just didn’t make me feel like it should have. Do I recommend this book? Absolutely, and not because I received it in exchange for an honest review, but because it’s a good story and connects wonderfully with the story brought to us in Savor.

Claire was nearly killed and is on the run from a vengeful vampire. Together with her Blood Mate, Arrick, she’s trying to make her way to her rightful home. And because of this vengeful vampire and The Dark a war is looming on the horizon. Claire doesn’t want to sit back and watch. She wants to stand her ground and fight against whoever is trying to take her and kill the ones she loves in the process.

Indulge is the second book of the Warm Delicacy Series by Megan Duncan. This sequel is even better than the first book. It held suspense, action, amusing, romantic and so much more. It definitely has the qualities to grab you by the collar and pull into in the book.

The story line thickens and Claire is now focused on revenge and at the same time her whole character changed. She’s more bustling with confidence and strength as well as the courage to speak her mind and go for what she believes. She is no longer the normal girl we met in the first book of the series.

At the same time, we get to know more about Arrick (Claire’s Blood Mate) and he is definitely swoon worthy. Like usual our protagonist is torn between two lovers and is completely confused about it. But I’m glad Megan wrote little on that topic and more on the action, which I was so engrossed in.

Unlike Savor, Indulge has the best of the characters new and old. My new fav would be Bennett. Though, he isn’t much to fangirl about, his character is witty and has a rare element that is completely trust-worthy. You probably won’t like him in the beginning but as you read he becomes an instant favorite.

Indulge is a righteously original take on vampires of the YA genre. Its vastly alluring and seeps of complete awesomeness, it's a definite read if you enjoy watching protagonists become kick-ass heroines and love the outcomes of it. Indulge is yet another unputdownable book from Megan Duncan.

Look at that lovely cover!! It's absolutely enticing, is it not?? Anyway, this book is just splendid! I really love this series and I can't wait to read the third book...

Indulge brings us to the world of Naos. We'll be meeting Claire's real vampire parents and a lot of intriguing new characters. I have to say, Claire's real parents are very likable. From the first moment that they were introduced, you'll just see how loving and caring of parents they are. Claire made instant connection with them even after all the years that they've been apart. I sincerely adore them... Also, we'll be seeing a lot of Arrick (not like in Savor wherein he was always hiding in the shadows and was present in the entirety of the book for like, five pages or so only) and get to know him better. I absolutely love hot, swoon-worthy Arrick! He can be so hot and charming especially when he wants to be and there's this air of mystery surrounding him. And in Indulge, Claire is finally letting her heart open up to Arrick. I just love it when Claire and Arrick have their moments. They definitely make my heart somersault. Btw, the whole Blood Mates thing is just hhmmmm... :D

But the only thing that did bother me about the book is its slow pace at the beginning and just when things started to heat up and reached its climax, its already the end! I want more! And the end may not be a total cliffhanger, but I really cannot wait to get my hands on Devour. Like, oh I don't know, NOW.

Indulge is an absolute must-read. It is intense, exciting and definitely indulging... Those who have already read Savor and loved it, you will definitely love this more!! And those who still haven't started with the series, what are you waiting for??

I just finished the second book of the Warm Delicacy series. While I did enjoy it, I didn't like it as much as the first one.
I felt like the descriptions were very rushed during some situations. For example, when we were told that Claire's (real) mother had given a piece of her humanity so that Claire was born human. It was kinda mentioned quickly, and I was like WTH... shouldn't that have been a bigger deal rather than just a couple-of-lines mention?
Also, there was some unnecessary plot development at points. Towards the end of the story, Claire was warned by a maid about spending time alone with a certain, supposedly dangerous character, who in the end turned out to be a great ally and not a threat to her at all. In my opinion, there were other issues at hand that needed to be elaborated upon rather than this unnecessary drama.
Ok, I also have to address the elephant in the room.. Claire went from one mother, who raised her until she turned 18, to new adoptive vampire parents whom she felt comfortable enough with to start addressing as "Mom" and "Dad" within days. Ok, hard to believe she would just drop her Mom so easily, but I can go with it. Then you introduce her real parents, and she automatically latches on to them as well? I find it hard to believe it would be that easy for anyone, let alone her character, who seems to over-think absolutely everything. I just wish the parents in the story had been introduced in another, more believable, way!
Despite these couple little issues, I did enjoy the book a lot and read it super fast. The Dark is interesting concept, and I am looking forward to how that develops. I also think that Claire has grown into a much more capable character and it will be interesting to see how she overcomes her challenges, and makes important choices. (Team Arrick!)

Indulge is the second book in the Warm Delicacy and just as engaging as the first, Savor. These books are a fresh and original take on the vampire genre, telling the story of Claire, a girl with a mysterious past. The story opens just after Savor ends, as Claire and Arrick make their escape from an attack that almost killed Claire. What I love most about this series is that, at the heart of it, the story is a coming of age story for Claire, with the paranormal aspect not overshadowing it. Instead, it enhances what is already a fabulous story. Whether you love them, hate them, or just aren't sure about them, the characters that Megan creates are fully believable. In my opinion the characters, and how involved with them I can get as a reader, are what makes or breaks a story. The setting and the plot are, of course, important, but if I can't connect with the characters, it's just words on a page. But these characters come to life, make you feel with them!

But Megan is genius at creating the environment, too, make no mistake. The descriptions of the city of Naos were vividly written, without bogging the reader down with too much description. I felt as if I were there, seeing what Claire was seeing. Her ability to create a believable world sets the stage for a fabulously engaging read. The twists and turns that Claire's life has taken will grip you from the very first page. By the time I reached the end, I was so into the story that I was not all happy that it was over,... for now! The next book, Devour, comes out some time in 2012.

"Indulge" is another good read from Megan Duncan. In this installment, Clare is nearly killed by her nemesis, Ana and Luka. With the assistance of her blood mate, Arrick she manages to escape and goes to the city of Naos where she meets her birth mother and father, Cathair and Ione (Cat hair.....really?)She discovers that very few vampires have the ability to conceive and carry a baby; yet, her mother managed to do so. Then she was kidnapped by King Noire so that he would have a daughter.

Clare is extremely angry with Ana; but, realizes that she must learn to handle it or it will destroy her or others. While Arrick has been sent to spy on King Noire, she decides to go into training for the upcoming war. She learns the history of the Dark and is determined to protect herself and her family. Then, the unthinkable happens, Naos is attacked and Clare must rise to the occasion if the city and its' people are to survive.

Megan Duncan has a gift for battle scenes and I was quite impressed with her attention to details. Clare manages to take out many of the dark demons and in turn she learns that she has the ability to handle the dark's stones.

I really enjoyed this installment. My only issue with it is Clare's insistance on thinking about how much she loves Dimitry when truly she only met the guy a couple of times. It was a little hard to relate to. However, I did enjoy the growing attraction between Clare and Arrick. I am anxiously awaiting the next book in this series. I am sure that it will promise more great insight and action.

I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I read book 1 (Savor) and took part in the blog tour and really enjoyed it. I love Megan Duncan's writing style and her ability to capture your attention and weave you into a whole different world. So of course when she offered me the chance to read this one, I couldn't resist.
This book follows on straight from where book 1 ended and I was immediately pulled back into Claire's life. It has been a few months since I read Savor but the storyline, characters came straight back.
I liked seeing Claire develop in this book both as a Vampire and a Warrior and really just grow up a bit, she starts to take a stand in what she believes in and what she wants and I found that refreshing.
Arrick is still a bit of a mystery but I find myself drawn to him. I hope he becomes a bigger part in the series, I really want to know what happens with him.
There are a lot of fresh new faces in this book as well as the return of some old ones and it made for an interesting mix. There are some fight scenes that had me on the edge of my seat urging Claire on. A lot of the time I felt like I was right there next to her, ready to take on the next challenge.
I am falling in love with this series, it is so different from the other vampire series I have read and it's refreshing.

Claire and Arrick are headed to Naos where Claire's birth parents live. She has finally learned the truth of her existence and is readjusting all over again to a new family. She is a rare born vampire with special abilities she has yet to discover. With the other royals upset at her running away and The Dark rising to power, Claire must prepare for war. Eli begins training her and she has a sparing partner Bennett that pushes her buttons. Bennett was really snarky and fun. I enjoyed his scenes and their lessons together. They began building an interesting friendship.

She is also still dealing with her mixed feelings over Dmitry, who she has left behind, and her blood mate Arrick. Arrick feels everything that she feels so she can not hide the feelings she still holds for Dimitry from him. I was disappointed there wasn't more of Dmitry because I really grew to love his character in the first book. Arrick does continue to grow on me with his dedication and love for Claire. But he has watched and loved Claire her whole life where as Claire just met him a few weeks ago. When Arrick takes off on a reconnaissance mission, the palace is under attack from The Dark. Claire must learn to use her unique vampire strength and powers to save the family she has just discovered.

I enjoyed 'Savor', but i enjoyed 'Indulge' more. Claire has really come into her own in this sequel and it was just enjoyable to read. I think Claire could have had more of a learning curve into what it takes to be a vampire, but i do understand that it is her nature to approach things head on.
I love how the story isn't straight forward, it keeps taking all these twists and turns, for example, i would never have guessed that she was abducted by birth. I know this is introduced in 'Savor', but isn't explained until 'Indulge'. It intensified the whole story line.
Arrick has upped the depth in the characters by providing a bit more maturity. I just hope that if Claire does choose him, that their relationship isn't just brushed over too lightly, i believe if the characters are over 18 years old, they can at least share some passion with the readers- it is a love story to a certain degree.
All in all i cant wait for the war to step up a notch and the story gets a bit grimy- looking forward to the next book.

So why 3 stars? Well i liked the first book alot! The only problem i have with our main character is that she's too accepting. She made a new best friend in under 5 minutes of leaving her old one. She traded parents 3 times and automatically fell inlove with all 3 of them immediately. She's so eager to be loved its almost annoying. And the most annoying part about this book...."AFTERALL I AM THE ONLY ONE OF MY KIND" If she brags about how special she is one more time i may scream! I counted 7 times in book two and thats just when i started....i didn't go back to count from the beginning. Sigh. Other than that...i give this book 3 stars because i loved the first book and i'm a sucker for trilogies as well as the COVER IS ASTONISHING! Wonderful title. And I like that it didn't take 9 books to figure out who she was in love with. I just hope the next book explains why she's able to control the stones?

I wanted to like this series but I knew when Savor didn't do much for me that this one wouldn't either. I didn't feel connected to the characters at all this time around even though I did a tiny bit in Savor.

Arrick, Claire's blood mate takes her home to meet her real parents and for her to learn why she was sent away to begin with. This had a Chicagoland Vampire feel to it but without the intensity to it. Claire does learn why she had to stay away from her home and her being back brings their worse fears to reality.

I just really couldn't get into this book at all so I think I will pass on Devour. I really did want to like it since at the end of Savor it did get a little interesting but alas, it is not for me.

Wow! I thought that Savor was such a good book that I got this one as soon as I finished it. I was not disappointed at all. This book was more of everything that the first one was. It was bumped up a notch from everything I experienced while reading Savor. I mean....I'm at a loss for words. This was a really good second installment to the Warm Delicacy series. Claire discovers more about herself in this book, including her true family and true love. I simply cannot wait for the next book. It pains me knowing that it will not be available until this summer. If you liked Savor, this book will only pull you in further! A must read for all those interested in this genre!

"Indulge," by Megan Duncan was a book full of mystery and had very descriptive wording that allowed me to capture what was going on in the book. I would recommend "Indulge" to other readers just for imagination alone. I was able to savor every moment of book 1 and indulge myself with book 2 of the Warm Delicacy series. This is a series I would read again just to catch different details that I may have missed before.

Read this book -- you will not be disappointed :)

Wonderful sequel to Savor. I read in in a few hours just could not put it down. I loved Arrick and Claire's relationship development in the book because they are my favorite couple. I like Demetry and all but he feels more like the guy friend than a lover. I just can't wait for the next one. I truely hope there is no triangle with Bennett.

2.5 stars. While I enjoyed reading Indulge, the second in the Warm Delicacy trilogy, there are a few things that I didn't care for. The protagonist is still immature and the book is riddled with typos like the first, and the fight scene at the end was rather long, plus Arrick isn't in this installment much. I love how Naos is described though. I picture it like the night pictures I see of Greece. A liitle language and one passionate kiss. I will read the third installment and maybe I will like it better.

Didn’t get good until the end....still undecided if I want to continue. I haven’t decided if I can power through another book just for the end to be just ok.

4.0 Stars!!! (Beware-Spoilers)

Part II of the story of Clair, the newly Turned Princess Vampire.

Summery:
Book 1 kinda set the stage and this book really got you down in the war...between civilized vampires and THE DARK. The royal vampires are civil, considerate and keep to themselves. They do have their political intrigue and are highly territorial. But these vampires have a good relationship with Humans. THE DARK and the other type of Vampire, who lived during the dark ages and are evil, have no morals/ethics and thrive in chaos. Their aim is to defeat the civilized vampires, and destroy Humanity by using them for food.

Clair is something different, She is a hybrid Vampire, born of a vampire and very, very rare thing. She was born for reason and possesses special talent and power. She barely escapes with her life at the end of book 1 and flees with Arrick to the east....to finds out that she has been lied to. That her true family is here. The pieces of the puzzle start to come together. She realizes that this is where she belongs and maybe her feelings for Dmitry are not the same as what she is beginning to have for Arrick.

While Arrick plans to head back to the Noir court to snoop and see what is happening, Clari asks him to search for her friends that she left behind to make sure they are okay. She and Arrick grow closer and he shares with her how frustrated he is that even when he kisses her she thinks of Dmitry. She reminds him you have known me my whole life....I just met you.

While Arrick is gone she trains to fight with Eli and arrives home from a training session to see THE DARK led by Ba'al destroying her home, city and family. She does what she has to do, no matter the outcome, defend and save her family, new friends and home. What she finds is that those powers she is just discovering makes her able to defeat them. Wow, what a fight. These 'THE DARK' warriors are under some spell and vicious. One of them is Anna, who tried to kill her out of jealousy before...only her eyes are all white and she is unaware of her surroundings.

After a long battle, Clair fallows Anna through a time portal and as she is going through she is thinking, I want to be where Arrick is. Apparently this is where she lands....because within minutes she is in his arms and he is once carrying her to safety. She reunites with Robin and her cat and Dmitry.....only they are worn and have also survived a battle with THE DARK. Arrick is unhappy to see Clair hugging Dmitry....but pleased to feel Clair's waning emotional tie with him.

What next? Well, I will have to read book 3 to find out. I enjoyed this book as well as the first. This is a really good story line and I like the characters. Is it deeply emotional? no but just enough to keep me hooked and the world building, battles and intrigue are fantastic. I like the heroine too. She is sweet, feminine, and yet hard, tough and a fighter. I look forward to unraveling more of this great story.

Ooohhhh such a Great story

This story just keeps getting better and better. Yes, there is a cliffhanger but it's not one that leaves you totally hanging. The author did a great job at grabbing your feelings and pulling you into this story. I have to go get the final one.

FINISHED THIS WITHIN HOURS AFTER THE FIRST BOOK. I totally loved it. Couldn't pry my eyes off my Galaxy S2 until I was done. Funny thing was...I didn't even know I was reading the last sentence on my phone until it wouldn't let me flip any more pages.

description
I think....I was mind-blown...and I didn't even realize it until I was down to the last punctuation mark.

This book was everything that I imagined. Fast pace, action pact, threads and threads of unanswered questions WAITING TO BE UNFOLDED.

Why...WHY ISN'T THE THIRD BOOK PUBLISHED YET :( January 2013 can't come fast enough (How ironic since it's new years eve right now)
I'll have to wait for it to be published..and then wait some more for it to be in ebook format..and then wait until I actually get my hands on it..Just thinking about it makes my heart cry

description

This book was simply amazing. I related to the characters easily. The kick-ass, level headed, tough cookie princess who learns fast to her loving parents, friends, and love interest.

Sweet Arrick...sweet sweet Arrick <3 and then there's Dmitry! (But I root for Arrick :P)

Everyone has their head screwed on right. No one makes me want to dive into the book and bash their skulls. No one is a spoiled brat, no one babies the heroine.

Duncan's writing has got me hooked. It flowed so well that I finished reading it within hours.

Indulge picks up where Savor left off and the action is non-stop! There are a few spelling / grammar / syntax errors that need to be addressed, but they are not enough to cause a problem while reading. There are several twists in the plot that I didn't expect to happen, the suspense and mystery is written so well that I think I have an idea about who or what may be the problem, but then something occurs that makes me question whether I am on the right track or not! One
thing, for sure, is that Claire is beginning to embrace her destiny and the duty that seems to be only something that she can deal with. Claire is definitely coming into her own, with confidence, loyal friends, and her own self-discoveries. She is gaining the confidence and trust in herself that allow her to speak up when she feels that there is a better way of handling things. She is also finding out that she has some excellent insights on possible strategies that can be used to fight the evil that is coming - strategies that many of the older "clan" are either unwilling to try, or have not had any way to try to put into practice. Claire is learning to embrace the role of a leader. I can't wait to read the next book in the series!! It would be nice to see some more in-depth relationship with Claire's
"newest" vampire parents to create a more solid relationship with them, as well as to possibly solidify the relationships for any future plot lines though.

Another 3.5 stars.

SPOILERS

I am going to complain about things that annoyed me, but first I have to say that I liked the book so there is my annoyance for things that didn't make sense.
First there were many mistakes .
The second there was a sentence that was repeated so many times that I wanted to hit the girl. "There had never been a vampire like me before." It's annoying to see it so many times in a book, but another thing that bugged me is that her mother told her that she was the first, not the only one and that there are others like her but no one knows where and who they are.
The relationship between Claire and Arrick is lacking... like we don't have enough information about him, his past, who he is. Yes we did get something and it made me like him more but it felt like as it wasn't enough. I also didn't like how fast she was switching which guy she likes more.
What I did like is that at the end she realized that she is in love with the Arrick. So those are the things that I didn't like and there are probably a few more, but I need to say again that I did like the book. Can't wait for the next one :)
