Tropes- Brother's best friend Snowed in Forced proximity Mutual pining Secondish chance Holiday novella
“Loving you is as easy as breathing. It often feels as though that’s why I was put on this earth. Even when we weren’t speaking, I still loved you.” I shake my head softly again. “It’s not too early. In fact, I feel like I’m far too late in telling you.”
✨️ Thank you so much to Alex for this ARC for my honest review. This was a perfectly balanced holiday novella with just the right amount of sweet and spice. Although it is a novella, it didn't feel rushed. I felt like I really got to know the characters and their history. This made the tension between them while being snowed into a cabin so 🔥. This book will give you all the cozy feels of a hallmark Christmas but add in some spice 🤭. I definitely recommend it! 🩷
I love a good brother's best friend story, add in being snowed in at Christmas, I'm all for it. Lise just learned her family is selling their cabin and she's decided to spend one least holiday there. She's surprised to see Sebastian show up the next day, he came once her brother told him she'd be all alone there. Lise hasn't really spoken to Sebastian in almost ten years, after he rejected her when they were eighteen. Sebastian is there to get her forgiveness, he never wanted to hurt her and wants to show her his true feelings. Being snowed in, they get closer and they talk about the past. Leading to them becoming closer and exploring their relationship. What will happen after the new year when the new owners will take over?
I LOVE LOVE LOVED this Christmas Novella!!! Snowed in with her brother’s best friend who she’s had a crush on for years??? HECK YEAH.
I was hooked from the first chapter! Annalise is such a sassy FMC and really kept Sebastian on his toes. Sebastian is the protective older brother’s best friend and loved him so much! He braced the storm for Annalise and was SO down bad. They wind up snowed in together which wouldn’t be so bad, but they both had crushes on one another for years - what could possibly go wrong 🤭.
The novella had the perfect pacing! I loved how even with it being a novella, we got to see some flashbacks of when they were at the Cabin as kids. It added so much more depth to their love. I find at times I can struggle with novellas, but this one had the perfect amount of plot and spice. The secret crushes for years, the flashbacks all added to their story and made me fall head over heels for them.
I HIGHLY recommend adding this to your holiday TBR. It will give you all the hallmark feels while also making you PANT because it’s THAT hot!!!
Small town Brother’s best friend Snowed in Holiday romance Forced proximity Second chance Mutual pining
This Christmas novella was a fun, quick steamy read that will have you devouring in one sitting. I had no idea what to expect when Sebastian crashes Annalise alone time at the cabin she believed her parents had sold. While there was tension between them because of the past, Sebastian will do everything in his power to have Annalise forgive him. The tension between the two of them was palpable, which made being snowed in together even more thrilling. Annalise won't forgive him that easily, he truly does work for it and there were a couple SWOONY twists that I won't spoil.
One Last Christmas is filled with mutual pining, second chance love, snowed in tension, and some HOT HOT spice. This story really gives the Hallmark Christmas vibes and is perfect for the holiday season.
I really enjoyed this little novella. It's quick, but it doesn't feel like it's quick, if that makes sense. The characters and their developments, both separately and together, was really nice. I have zero complaints about this one, to be honest.
Thank you so much to Alex Taylor for another incredible ARC. I’ve read a few of her early releases now, and she continues to prove why she’s one of my favourite authors. She just gets romance!!! the yearning, the softness, the emotional depth, and the cozy moments that make you want to live inside the book.
One Last Christmas was everything I wanted and so much more. Annalise and Sebastian’s story felt rich, nostalgic, and beautifully intimate. Their history runs deep, and you can feel the weight of all those years 😢 the missed chances, the unspoken feelings, the pining that never really stopped.
There were so many moments in this book that genuinely made my heart ache (and swoon). One of my absolute favourites was Sebastian quietly buying the cabin so Annalise wouldn’t lose the place she loved most. The fact that he didn’t tell her right away — and then just gave it to her — was such a tender, selfless act. It said everything about how deeply he loves her without needing to say the words.
And then there’s the humour. The scene where her brother walks in on them during a very spicy moment? I had tears in my eyes from laughing poor dude was traumatised 😂
Speaking of spice: the Christmas tree fantasy? They both delivered. Perfectly. Enough said.
Sebastian also being the type to cook for her, to make sure she’s taken care of, to quietly show his love in all those thoughtful ways 🥰 it made him such an easy hero to fall for. And when Annalise finally sees his apartment and realizes he has all of her photographs displayed? That was one of the most beautifully romantic reveals in the whole book.
And of course, the proposal scene. Her proposing and him proposing at the exact same time? it was sweet, funny, and so authentically them. A perfect full-circle moment for a couple built on years of connection and longing.
One Last Christmas is the kind of romance that stays with you… soft, nostalgic, a little bit heartbreaking, and full of the kind of moments that make you believe in fate, timing, and the magic of Christmas.
Annalise Reid has just discovered her family has sold their cabin where they spent every Christmas while she was growing up. Though it’s been a few years, the cabin has always been a special place to her. She decides to spend one last Christmas at the cabin before the new owners take over.
Annalise plans to spend two weeks over Christmas alone at the cabin soaking in all the memories and completing the family Christmas traditions. She doesn’t expect her brother’s best friend Sebastian Hayes to show up and crash her holiday.
Annalise hasn’t talked to Sebastian in 8 years since he rejected her. Due to the storm outside Sebastian and Annalise end up snowed in at the cabin. The more time they spend together, the more the tension grows. Annalise realizes the feelings she had for Sebastian are still there. But he has broken her heart before, can she trust that if she gives him her heart now he won’t break it again?
I really enjoyed this holiday brother’s best friend romance. Though this was a novella it felt like it was a great balance of sweet, spicy and depth. The story didn’t feel rushed at all. Even though the book was short, I felt like I was able to get to know the characters and their history to make the story more enjoyable. The flashbacks were a nice touch as it really added to establishing the connection and love between the characters.
I absolutely love a brother’s best friend romance and this one did not disappoint. The tension between Annalise and Sebastian was 🔥. I loved that they had been mutually been pining for each other for years. And who can resist a man like Sebastian. The way he was constantly showing Annalise how he felt for her by cooking, chopping wood and helping her complete her favorite Christmas traditions. He was so in love with Annalise and I absolutely adored him as a character.
This novella was the perfect blend of sweet romance, crazy hot spice, cozy holiday vibes, nostalgic Christmas traditions, and a love story that could melt even the Grinch’s heart. I highly recommend adding this to your holiday tbr!
Thank you Alex Taylor for the opportunity to recieve an arc in exchange for an honest review 🤍
One Last Christmas is a fun, heartwarming and spicy quick read that had me hooked from the first chapter 🤭. Sebastian Hayes and Annalise Reid are made for each other — their chemistry practically leaps off the page. Alex Taylor blends festive charm with real emotion, giving us a story full of longing, cosy small-town vibes, and enough tension to have you kicking your feet 😏.
Alex Taylor blends cosy small-town charm with real emotion, delivering a story full of snowed-in chaos ❄️, second-chance softness 💕, and the kind of mutual pining that has you smiling at your Kindle like an idiot. Their connection feels believable, tender, and deliciously intense. And the spice? Chef’s kiss 👀🔥.
I loved the mix of classic Christmas tropes — everything from found family warmth 🤍 to that iconic brother’s best friend twist 😏 — all wrapped up in Hallmark vibes but with so much more heat. It’s comforting, festive, emotional in the best way, and the perfect December read if you want chemistry, charm, and a quick hit of holiday magic📚✨.
If you’re after a festive romance that reads quickly, feels comforting, and has characters you’ll genuinely root for, this is definitely one to add to your December TBR 🎄.

⭐️ I’m an idiot. Not only am I an idiot for falling for my best friend’s younger sister years ago, but now I think I’ve entered the realm of stupidity for what I’m willing to do for her. ⭐️
⭐️ I just wanted to come to the cabin and enjoy one last Christmas here before some random person takes it over. I wanted one last set of good memories. ⭐️
This is the first book I have read by this author and it is such a cute and cozy Christmas book. I loved it.
Sebastian Hayes and Annalise Reid separately yearn for each other but after he broke her heart she refuses (quite rightly) to steer clear of anything to do with him.
Fast forward 8 years she wants to spend one last Christmas in her family cabin before it becomes someone else’s. But then Sebastian shows up.
Getting snowed in with him in a remote cabin is her idea of hell….. but IT DOESN’T STAY LIKE THAT! 🥹
The simmering tension between them starts slow, building with little glances, small moments and all around TENSION! 😮💨
I really enjoyed watching them go from ‘we don’t like each other’ to ‘we have always loved each other’ it was so cute.
Big props to Walker, her brother, his best friend. For not over reacting….. too much! 🤣
I really enjoyed it! Also …. It’s always I love you and never ⭐️ “Loving you is as easy as breathing. It often feels as though that’s why I was put on this earth. Even when we weren’t speaking, I still loved you.”⭐️ Sebastian Hayes. You have a way with words. 🥹
If you’re looking for a quick, sweet, spicy, and festive novella to jumpstart your holiday reading, One Last Christmas delivers all the cozy, heart-melting vibes.
Sebastian and Annalise have known each other since their teens. He’s her older brother’s best friend, the boy she crushed on for years, and finally confessed her feelings to one fateful Christmas night… only to be shut down and left heartbroken. Annalise did what any wounded heart would do: she walked away, blocked him everywhere, and moved on with her life.
Or so she thought.
Years later, the universe throws them back together. Snowed in at the same cabin where everything fell apart. The holiday magic is undeniable, and so is their chemistry. But Annalise doesn’t know the real reason Sebastian rejected her… or the depth of the feelings he’s been hiding ever since.
When the truth finally comes out, she must decide whether to forgive the past and embrace the future they could have had all along.
Sebastian is impossibly swoony, the cabin + forest + small-town setting is pure holiday romance perfection, and the whole vibe had me grinning, swooning, and craving hot cocoa.
This novella is the perfect blend of warmth, tension, and spice—ideal for anyone wanting a festive, second-chance, brother’s-best-friend romance.
Add this one to your holiday TBR—you’ll inhale it in one sitting!
Annalise heading back to her family cabin, ready to mourn it, ready to let go, ready to say goodbye to the place that shaped her childhood? My heart was already in shambles. That bittersweet feeling practically poured off the page… and then Sebastian Hayes shows up, and my emotional stability said goodbye too.
Sebastian. Sweet, tortured, loyal-to-a-fault Sebastian, who has spent eight years quietly, hopelessly pining after his best friend’s sister. And when he finds out she’ll be alone in the one place that holds all their memories? He runs straight toward the storm instead of away from it, ready to fix what he broke, ready to finally tell her everything.
Then a snowstorm traps them together and it’s like every second of the last eight years snaps right back into place—slowly, painfully, beautifully.
The tension?? Gentle but sharp. The nostalgia?? Heavy in the best way. The pining?? OH MY GOD, the PINING. I swear these two could start a forest fire with the bottled-up emotions alone.
Watching them sift through old wounds, talk about what went wrong, laugh over memories, and slowly fall back into each other’s orbit felt like the most tender, quiet kind of magic. The kind that sneaks up on you. The kind that feels like home. The kind that says maybe closure isn’t what you needed—maybe this was always meant to be the beginning.
🤍 Brother's best friend ❄️ Snowed in 🤍 Forced proximity ❄️ Mutual pinning 🤍 Second chance ❄️ Holiday novella
One Last Christmas by Alex Taylor had me grinning, kicking my feet, and clutching my Kindle like it was a lifeline. I was hooked from chapter one, literally no warm-up, just straight into the Annalise-and-Sebastian chemical combustion.
First of all… Annalise? My girl is peak sassy fmc energy. Every comeback? Sharp. Every moment she tries (and fails) not to melt for Sebastian? Adorable. She keeps him on his toes so hard he might need ankle support.
And Sebastian… ohhhh Sebastian. The older brother’s best friend who has been secretly in love with her for eight. whole. years. This man is gone for her, not “down bad,” more like “down catastrophic.” He would fight a blizzard with his bare hands if it meant keeping her safe. Actually, he does brace a literal storm for her. Peak fictional man behavior.
Then boom, they get snowed in together. Like, forced proximity at its finest. Two people who’ve been low-key (okay high-key) pining for years? What could possibly go wrong? Spoiler: everything goes deliciously right. The tension, the soft moments, the banter, the “oh no there’s only one bed” vibes… Alex Taylor understood the assignment.
Their chemistry is the perfect blend of sweet, spicy, and “omg JUST KISS ALREADY.” Sebastian finally letting his feelings slip through? Annalise realizing maybe she’s not as immune to him as she pretends? Ugh. I ate it up. You’re going to fall for this book just as hard as Sebastian fell for Annalise (which is to say: off a cliff, no hesitation).
Thank you so much Alex Taylor for the opportunity of being a part of your arc team. I devoured this and I can’t wait for what’s next.
Alex knocked it out of the park with this holiday novella. I’ve loved every book she’s written and this was no exception.
I loved Annalise and how she was sassy, especially with Sebastian. I loved that, after finding out her family cabin was sold, she took off on her own and was ready to spend time there by herself. Sebastian was a sweetheart. I loved how he did what he could to try to get some time with Annalise. These too had so much tension between them, I could feel it as I read! Annalise’s reaction to Sebastian’s Christmas gift to her was perfect.
Overall, I really enjoyed this novella. While it is short, the pacing was great. I enjoyed getting a bit of Walker, Annalise’s brother and the real reason Sebastian rejected her all those years ago. I would recommend this novella if you love a forced proximity, snowed in, brother’s best friend, holiday romance.
Thank you Alex Taylor for the ARC for an honest review.
Annalise and Sebastian were 😍😍😍🎄🎄🎄 This book gives all the Christmas vibes! ✨🎄📖 It’s perfect to read going into December. ❤️ It was so cute and spicy and I didn’t want it to end!
✨Annalise Reid is about to lose her favourite place in the world: her family’s cabin. Ready to spend her Christmas reminiscing and saying goodbye, she heads off to the small town of Whispering Pines. What she never expected was her childhood crush to show up at the front door.
Sebastian Hayes has spent the last eight years pining after his best friend’s sister from afar. Finding out she’ll be alone for two weeks at the cabin that changed everything for them gives him the chance he’s been waiting for to fix the past.
Stuck together due to a serendipitous snowstorm, Annalise and Sebastian are forced to confront what went wrong between them. Deciding to spend one last Christmas together was supposed to bring them closure. But what if it’s just the start of something more?✨

-Snowed in -Force proximity — Christmas novella -Brother‘s best friend
🎄 My favourite Christmas novel of the entire year. From chapter one I was done for and absolutely hooked and could not put it down. Alex… this was SO good. I would recommend this book to literally anyone.
This follows Sebastian and Annelise. Annelise heads up to her family’s cabin for one last visit before it’s sold, and when Sebastian finds out she’s going, he can’t help himself. It’s been eight years since he rejected her, and he knows this is his chance to check on her… and finally claim her.
Their build back to each other felt so natural, the push and pull, her trying to resist, him determined to make things right. The chemistry Instant. You can feel their history and their feelings simmering from the start, and watching them slowly make their way back to each other was honestly perfection.
And the spice? HOT. Hot as anything. I genuinely needed a fan. 🔥🫠
Thank you to authoralextaylor for an arc of this book loved it 💕
I really enjoyed Annalise and Walker’s holiday story. Annalise has crushed on Walker from day one, but unbeknownst to her, her brother stepped in and told Walker under no circumstance is he to make a move on his sister. With that being said, when she tried to kiss him eight years ago he rejected her and it was the biggest mistake he ever made. He felt the same way she did, but couldn’t act on it, until now. When Lise finds out her family sold their cabin, she’s crushed and decides, screw it, and heads to the cabin to spend the last two weeks she has in it and make some lasting memories and the last thing she expected to find when she opened the door was Walker standing there. She’s finally free and he has a couple secrets up his sleeve and he’s hoping that she won’t turn him away when he shows up at the cabin to spend a couple weeks with her to try to win her back. Loved the banter, the romance, the steam and the honesty Walker shared with her and how he felt for her all those years ago. Such a great read, highly recommend it.
Every time I read an Alex Taylor book, I tell myself, “This is my favorite one.” It happened again with One Last Christmas. I don’t know what she puts in her books, but man, do they have a hold on me.
This one was an emotional ride, in the best way. I loved the flashbacks to their teen years and seeing how this whole thing between them started, then venturing back to the present and seeing the animosity (but was it really?!) that Annalise had towards Sebastian.
You can’t read this and not like Sebastian. It’s impossible. He’s attentive, patient, loving… and that mouth! Mmm. The pining, the chemistry, and the spark that finally lit that fire between Sebastian and Annalise. Perfect. *chefs kiss*
Let’s take a moment for Christmas morning and the absolutely PRECIOUS moment between them. I won’t say anything more than that, but IYKYK. And if you don’t, grab a copy and read it today.
Getting snowed in with the one person you’ve spent years trying not to love? That’s exactly what Annalise and Sebastian walk into. Eight years of heartbreak, longing, and unresolved tension packed into one little cabin. Poor Bash has been in love with his best friend’s little sister forever, and watching him carry that guilt while still wanting so badly to make things right had me rooting for him from the beginning. And Lise? The way she’s masked her hurt with irritation and stubbornness for all those years made their slow thaw even sweeter.
This novella hits that perfect balance of cozy holiday charm and swoony, spicy tension. For a shorter story, it never feels rushed; you really feel their history, their pining, and that spark that never actually went away. Being snowed in forces them to finally talk, finally face what happened, and finally let themselves want each other again. It’s heartfelt, fun, quick, and absolutely perfect for a one-sitting Christmas read.
If you're looking for a feel good quick holiday read, pick up this one! One Last Christmas is a spicy novella where we meet Annalise and her love for the Whispering Pines cabin she spend many a family holiday while growing up. It holds all the best and some painful memories for her - the painful ones feature her brothers best friend, Sebastian. Despite pining and crushing on Annalise for almost a decade, he was instructed to stay away by her brother and my heart swooned a lot when we learn how he try to keep Annalise in his life without her knowledge. This book has all the feels, get cosy, there is zero angst and low drama as these two souls finally find each other again and bring all of Sebastian's dreams come true in the most magical of cabins.
I voluntarily reviewed a free advance copy of this book provided by the author. The opinions expressed are my own
A forced proximity brother's best friend holiday romance that hit all the right notes. Annalise and Sebastian had known each other for years, but Annalise's brother had strictly told Sebastian to stay away from his sister, so Sebastian had to keep the feelings he had for her buried. Annalise has a very protective brother, so when Annalise wants to spend one last holiday at their cabin before they sell it, he gets Sebastian to keep an eye on her, but ends up snowed in, which can is either a good or bad thing.
I love these types of books. The characters were perfect. I enjoyed their connection and how they built on that connection. There was definitely some angst between, and that only made me more invested in their relationship and how it would develop. The plot was excellent, and I enjoyed the way it was written, Alex never disappoints.
Snowed in with your brother’s best friend?? YES 👏🏼 Looking for a fun and SPICY holiday novella? Here she is! This absolutely needs to be on your winter TBR! 🤍
Annalise and Sebastian were everything I needed!! I freaking ate them up, and would’ve kept reading about them! Sebastian is all in on Annalise, and he gives her the perfect gift 🥹 I freaking loved this part of their story. He’s adorable! And Annalise is hilarious. I love how hard headed she is, but also seeing how she softens when she realizes Sebastian isn’t really who she made him out to be. The chemistry between them?? They were HOT!
This is a short but sweet story about a second chance. Annalise is heartbroken when she finds out her family is selling the beloved cabin. She wants to spend one last Christmas at the cabin. Once Sebastian learns Annalise is going up there by herself, he follows her to the cabin in hopes of getting a second chance after breaking her heart eight years ago. Annalise is determined not to let him in after his rejection all those years ago, but their connection and chemistry have stayed strong even though they haven't seen each other in eight years.

Are you looking for a new romantic book to read this time of the year that also has a christmas theme? If so this book might be for you especially if you like it a bit hot.
One Last Christmas is the third book by Alex Taylor I've read so far and dare I say that this one might be my favourite. The writing, characters and story is just so good that once I started it I didn't wanted to put it down unless I really had to.
It felt like a spicy christmas hallmark movie that was written down because due to the writing and descriptions I could imagine a lot.

This had me absolutely sobbing, Sebastian is so damn sweet. His love for Annalise never stopped even through the 8 years apart. All of the little things he did to show her how much he loved her just made me melt.
Annalise is so captivating, she fought the heartbreak and tried so hard not to forgive him, but in the end, she realised just how much they loved each other. Stupid older brothers ruining true love.
The way this couple were cute, funny, sappy, playful and dirty just hit all the right spots.
Absolutely loved this little Christmas love story!
I received One Last Christmas as an ARC from Alex, and yet again, writing knocked it out of the park! The short, but sweet, story is a brothers best friend, forbidden romance that plays out when Annalise goes to her family’s cabin for one last Christmas before her parents sell it to pay off a large debt. When her brother’s best friend, Sebastian, here’s that she’s at the cabin, he makes a surprise visit and ends up snowed in with her. We get to see how quickly the chemistry they had 8 years ago is back and watch their relationship bloom. This dual POV story isn’t super Christmasy, which really made me love it that much more, but there is some Christmas cheer and Christmas spice in it!
This was such a wonderfully cozy, feel good holiday novella. I’m always a sucker for a brother’s best friend, off limits romance, and this one delivered exactly what I wanted. The secluded cabin setting added the perfect touch of winter magic making it intimate, warm, and just a little bit cinematic. Sebastian and Lise’s relationship had that irresistible “it’s always been you” charm, and their chemistry leapt off the page. Their dynamic felt both sweet and electric, making every moment between them satisfying to read. Overall, it’s the kind of heartwarming holiday romance that leaves you smiling long after you’ve finished the last chapter.
I devoured this book it was a perfect holiday read!
Sebastian and Annalise have known each other since their teenage years, Annalise has had a crush on Sebastian since then and Sebastian is also her brother’s best-friend. Years later Annalise returns to her family’s cabin as a final goodbye and the universe brings her and Sebastian together and they get snowed into together. The chemistry and spice omg is top notch good! This is the perfect sweet, festive, fun and spicy Novella and you should definitely add this to your TBR.
A big Thank You to Alex Taylor for letting me be part of the ARC team.
Happy Reading All!

Annalise and Sebastian
This sweet and short holiday novella follows the romance of Annalise and Sebastian. Knowing each other for a long time and him also being her older brother’s best friend. Years ago there was a moment where they almost became more, but there was also something that held them back. Or more specifically held Sebastian back. Now these years later when Annalise spends one last Christmas at her family’s cabin, Sebastian shows up and pretends he wants to help her. But there is more to his appearance. They have to talk things through, especially with her disliking him. They have to come clean about what went wrong and why. And they have to figure out if there is a possibility for a second chance. Sweet, cozy and with a happy end of course.
If you want a sweet, steamy holiday novella, One Last Christmas is for you!
Annalise, Lise, decided to head up to the family cabin one last time before they sell it. The next day Sebastian shows up at the cabin because her brother told him that she would be there and alone. Sebastian didn’t have to go, but he did anyway.
They haven’t spoken in almost a decade, but he is now there to gain her forgiveness for something that happened when they were eighteen.
Lise and Sebastian get snowed in and they begin to reveal their true feelings for one another regardless of whether Sebastian is Lise’s brother's best friend or not.
Umm because I totally live for these! Alex my lady you have done it again and hooked me, I love your writing and I’ll rave about it forever. Something about how the words flow and make these books so easy to read and getting sucked in. Literally how was is over so soon.
Lise is so sassy and down to earth and he’s Just head over heels in love with her. This novella really gave us total hallmark vibes because I can totally see it without the cringe because the tension they were emitting with so sizzling and once it took off… I was a goner and totally engulfed in the flames. I’d happily keep hiring to continue this story. Loved it!
