There are moments of joy—the birth of his younger brother and Bowyer’s son, the night he and four best friends were all together learning magic tricks in his kitchen, and falling in love—interspersed with horrifically tragic events he survived.

I found the Cressida-Jay love relationship, intriguing; Cressida-Hugo pairing, infuriating; and their parents, repulsive.
While glued to the plot, I tried to decide who had the worst parent. By the action-packed ending, I made up my mind. No spoilers. Read this fascinating book and decide yourself.

A fan of emotional tales with plot twists, my favorite, Through My Eyes delivers an emotionally-charged story of an empathetic artist. Millionaire Maker, Train of Thought and Years On offer surprising endings. I love the creative internal thinking throughout Train of Thought.
Writing microfiction is difficult due to the short length of each story. Jos Saunders made every word count while adding interesting dialogue, mixed with imagination and great plot twists to the stories.

A vigilante serial killer, lovers Christina and Kenzie, Kenzie's sister, Samantha and her lover, Aubrey, a cursed play in which four leading male actors died, my favorite character, Carl and his friend Sydney, "Your Majesty," meat eaters Dr. Odd and accomplice, plenty of whiskey and vodka, which everyone hits, heroin, and places like 'The Never Better Lounge' should wet a Bowyer fan's appetite.
Bowyer's storytelling, character development and world building expertise shine through brilliantly in his latest book, "Metro Kinetic" a fully satisfying read. Highest recommendation....more

Bowyer's delicately prosaic love poems provide a brilliant contrast to the descent into despair and loss. The downward spiral cuts excruciatingly deep. That said, the theme of hope runs throughout the relationship of two lovers. The passage of time, divided and labeled by twelve months in the 'Contents' of the book accentuated the relationship's importance.
Readers who have experienced the loss of someone she/he can't live without through death, unrequited love, or other means, should find Bowyer's BLACKOUT: Micropoetry darkly relatable.

Chuck, his daughter, Jenny, and a little girl named Trinity spend their final hours together watching news reports on the upcoming apocalypse. Chuck drinks whiskey while Jenny shoots up and Trinity smokes meth. After resting, they all do meth and await the president’s address.
Doom from outer space will impact the planet ending all life. They take off to see Jenny’s friend who knows what’s coming between eight and nine that night. They arrive at his house just past ten in the morning.
Kyle leads the group to his satellite-surveillance chamber where planet Earth is projected on a cinematic screen. Chuck and the girls take turns dissecting parts of what’s coming to end the world. The girls smoke meth while Chuck hits the whiskey and they sack out for a while.

I appreciated the depth of storytelling and character development by Sandra Cisneros.
I do wish there had been punctuation with the name of the person speaking for some of the dialogue. It was difficult to figure out who was speaking at times because this wasn't used, and the time periods changed frequently.
In spite of it, the book is outstanding, and well deserving of a 5-star review. I would Highly Recommend it to any reader who likes a good story and understands some Spanish....more
