After I think I've found my perfect go-to author whenever I'm looking for something that will keep me up last midnight reading and keeping me hooked! After enjoying the first 2 books in the Housemaid series, I just had to see what Millie was up to in The Housemaid Is Watching!
Millie finally has a life of her own, she used to clean people's houses for a living, now she has one of her own, happily married with 2 children. Millie is living the American Dream, having recently moved with her family to Long Island, but once they settle in, she finds out it's anything but. After being welcomed to the neighborhood by her next door neighbor and being invited over for dinner, she finds out her and her family are being watched.
I will say this entry didn't grab me as much as the first 2 books, not to say it was a bad book, it still holds your attention throughout and Frieda McFadden keeps you guessing, throwing in that big twist (or maybe more) in the end that you will not see coming!

After loving (which is an understatement) The Housemaid, I was so excited on seeing what Millie was up to, and I'm glad Freida McFadden decided to continue on with her character!
Set not long after the events of the first book, Millie is once again jobless, until one day she is approached for a position cleaning an upscale penthouse which is owned by millionaire Douglas Garrick. Douglas at the time seems to be the perfect employer, he only has one rule, not to disturb his wife, who is always secluded in the master bedroom. One day Millie hears screaming from the bedroom, her curiosity gets the better of her, and when she opens the door, she stumbles upon something horrifying and realizes now there is no turning back!
I honestly thought it would be hard to top the first book but I have to say The Housemaid's Secret comes pretty damn close, I'm not saying this one was better, but almost equal!...more
Beautiful Ugly is my first book by Alice Feeney, recommended to me by one of my coworkers—and wow, what a way to be introduced to her work!

Set on the eerie Isle of Amberly, the story follows bestselling author Grady Green, whose wife Abby vanished a year ago, presumed dead. Seeking solitude and inspiration after hitting rock bottom, Grady retreats to a remote cabin, but instead of peace, he finds unsettling clues, mysterious sightings, and secrets buried beneath the floorboards. Along the way, Brady discovers deep dark secrets about his wife, and soon be begins to question not only Who is she, but who is he? The atmosphere is haunting, and the suspense never lets up.
I absolutely love Feeney’s style. Her writing is simple and clean—not overly deep or flowery—but it’s incredibly effective. She knows how to keep you hooked and constantly guessing. Just when you think you’ve figured it out, she throws in a twist that makes you question everything. I couldn’t put this book down. I also very much enjoyed the eerie atmosphere, taking place on a mysterious island, where nothing is as it seems, a nobody is who they say they are.
If you enjoy psychological thrillers that are fast-paced, emotionally intense, and full of clever misdirection, Beautiful Ugly is a must-read. I’ll definitely be picking up more of Feeney’s books after this one!...more
