Haven't read this book yet, but I'm adding some notes to remind my old brain when I do pick it up.

Found it mentioned on a reddit post looking for other books similar to my own. The poster said:
I have found that he and his books have a certain charm that is very difficult to replicate, unfortunately. Closest is a relatively unknown author (but one of my favorites) named Lawrence Watt-Evans. Author of the Ethshar Chronicles. Mostly stand alone books in the same world. First one is The Misenchanted Sword. My favorite was With A Single Spell. He combines the same lore rich world with varied stakes, with relatable and fun people that make me think of Royce and Hadrian. ...more
Hopefully everyone knows the drill by now, but for those that don't . . . I never review my own book, because of course I think it's amazing. • 10/25/25 - I realize it has been a bit since I've updated the status about this book, so today's the day. Well, it's done, actually completed it last month, just a day before a trip out to Salt Lake City to meet with someone I'm sure most of you know. We (Robin and I) had a warm welcome and a great time, and I was glad to get this book wrapped up before that trip. The plan is to hold off the release date until 2027 - why wait? Well we are trying to "fill the time" between Drumindor (my latest release), and The Cycle (which I'm almost half way through - 2.25 books out of 5 at present). We already have Out of the Ashes planned for 2026, so if I put Blythin in 2027, then maybe . . . just maybe . . . the first book of The Cycle could be in 2028. That's the hope at least.
• 09/09/25 - and done!
• 09/01/25 - just 3 chapters left to go!!
• 08/23/25 - 21 / 31 (67%) - starting to see the end approaching. Things are in that "running downhill stage, where I now know all that is going to happen and it's just a matter of getting it on paper. My hope is to have this wrapped up by mid September as I'm anxious to get back to The Cylce #3.
• 08/16/25 - 19 chapters in - at the moment I have 32 chapters plotted out. That means I'm 60% done based on chapters at least
• 06/12/25 - 11 chapters in - and a new plot thread added.
• 04/22/25 - first 2 chapters are "in the can" and since this books is already so heavily outlined (something required when working on The Cycle) it should come together in short order. This really isn't my "writing time" - which generally follows the school schedule starting in the fall), but the hope is I can have it done in time to start Cycle #3 this fall. We'll see how it goes.
• 04/01/25 - with the completion of Book #2 of the Cycle, I thought I would take a break from that series and start writing this book. Much like Esrahaddon (Rise and Fall #3) and Drumindor (Riyria Chronicle #5) this book has some foundational elements for the Cycle, and as such I've already completely outlined it. My guess is it'll be fairly quick book to write as much about it is already known....more
