I struggled my way through the first half of this book despite really enjoying the writing style. To be honest it feels like nothing really happens in the first half and we're only given these very vague details to go off of, which is probably why I felt such a strong impact with the big reveals in the later half. I'll admit that I'm not sure if the pay off was worth it for me, but I still enjoyed different parts of the story none the less. I'm looking forward to watching the netflix adaptation soon as I almost feel like this story might be better suited for film in my opinion (don't hate me for saying that XD)

Stephanie I listened to this on audio and felt that reading experience was much better then it would have been if I’d read it physically.

Juliana don't watch the netflix adaptation! it's terrible but i heard the hitchcock one is a masterpiece.

Jaya Really. I just finished the book today and I loved it, gave it 5 stars. I truly felt that so much happened in the first part of the book but maybe it's because I am used to reading slow paced books.

Maddly Peculiar I think Netflix just released a movie of Rebecca!

Melanie Boligan I actually really enjoyed the new adaptation on Netflix! A part of me still wants to read the book perhaps one day, especially since I’m a big fan of traditional/classic gothic literature and studied it during my undergrad.

Aarthika the movie started off so good but was kind of disappointing too :(

message 7: by Katie (new)

Katie I personally enjoyed the new movie, but I know some people didn’t feel the same

amelia Definitely watch Hitchcock's adaptation - it's on youtube - the new netflix one isn't great

Shannon i felt the exact same way upon first read, but then rereading it, the first half is so much better because one can pick up on the paranoia and nuance of the interactions.

Natalie you should definitely watch both adaptations they’re both great. The new one is pretty faithful but there were a few details that were changed

Alexis Totally agreed! Loved the movie hated the book!

Suci I loved the book! The new Netflix adaptation was not bad but there are certain elements that I hated. The 1940 was pretty cool too. You should watch both since they've got different things inserted to the original story.

Carmen Sí, lo empecé a leer y es bastante...tedioso. Pero My Cousin Rachel es una maravilla, y lo devoré en unas horas, te lo recomiendo :)

Laura I am also struggling at the minute I’ve been stuck on like chapter 7 for days trying to will myself through it cause I feel it’s going to get better 😂

barb_luiisa I haven't watched the movie but apparently it sucks.

Melissa Watch the Hitchcock adaption - Its so good!

Vaso Any trigger warnings?

K. Thompson This is exactly how I felt.

message 19: by Tara (new) - rated it 3 stars

Tara Spencer Wow I didn’t think I would find a review that sounded basically identical to mine, but here it is…and for some reason that feels like a relief!

Cheryl I felt 100% the same. Definitely didn't feel the payoff at end was worth it to me, i finished it feeling a bit underwhelmed.

Christine Me too. I don’t think this book aged well.

dai*~• I struggle immensely with the first half of the book. i retired it to my bookshelf for, and get this, five months. i was loitered on page 120. Finally i picked it up and read 100 pages in 2 days! it’s so wonderful, but i do have an idea of the twist. i can’t wait for the conclusion

Debbie Best I am ashamed to say I had to ask Google to explain the ending to me. I just thought this book, since it's a classic, would be so much better. I was disappointed.
