Takedown Twenty (Stephanie Plum, #20)

If you have read the last 6-7 books in the series, then you don't need to waste your time. Just seems to be a "copy and paste". This series stopped being funny around book 13; why did I even bother? Seriously, how can you word the same descriptions and scenarios differently after 20 books...the answer: You can't; and Evanovich doesn't. Time to really shake things up with this series or retire it. I believe at this point I could give the "plot line" to my Saint Bernard and he could write a more entertaining book. Seriously, is she even writing these? I used to love Evanovich and her humor; now I feel cheated out of the money spent buying the book.

I agree. I really liked this series through Book 12. Since then it has been wash-rinse-repeat. There has been NO forward motion and no evolving of characters. The Morelli/Stephanie/Ranger triangle was great for a few books, but now I don't understand why Morelli puts up with Stephanie, and I agree she just comes off as slutty. Ranger giving Stephanie a never ending supply of cars (at least three are destroyed IN EACH BOOK) has gotten OLD! Plus, Stephanie has been a bounty hunter for 20 books - she should either be good at her job and making a decent living or moving onto something else. Every book I'm told she barely makes ends meet (no matter how big the money she makes at the end of each book), and that she is inept at her job and makes apprehensions due to stubbornness and luck. One of my main complaints about Evanovich is that she seems to think incompetence is CUTE! It is not. And enough with exotic animals. This time it was a giraffe -- we've had monkeys, elephants and alligators, and they have added nothing to the story. I purchased many of the early Plumb books, now I get them from the library in hopes that Evanovich will finally decide to actually write an original story and have the characters actually evolve.
