A person was shot and killed near two schools in Oakland Friday afternoon, police said.
OAKLAND, Calif. - A person was shot and killed near two schools in Oakland Friday afternoon, police said.
Police said officers arrived at the 8100 block of Fontaine Street near schools around 12:45 p.m. over reports of a shooting. At the scene, they found an adult with gunshot wounds inside a Kia Sorento.
Despite life-saving efforts, the person died at the scene. Oakland police officers are investigating the shooting as a homicide.
What we don't know:
Police are not identifying the victim at this time pending notification of next of kin.
Police have not provided information on a possible suspect.

SkyFOX at the scene shows students from the nearby school being directed away from the scene.
School officials at Oak Grove Montessori immediately locked down the building and notified parents.
"They just got everyone inside, and I feel like they did a great job," said Oak Grove Montessori parent, Jeff Wang. "They didn’t give a lot of information, just that they heard sounds that sounded like gunshots."
The shooting also took place near the "King Estates" educational campus, that includes the Bay Tech Charter School and Rudsdale High School. Older students were released early, while parents of younger children met staffers at the crime scene to pick them up.
