Receive feedback well as a manager
Relationships are a two-way street, and how you receive feedback is just as important as how you give it. In this lesson, you'll explore receiving and responding to employee feedback with more tips developed by my consulting firm, Liberation Labs. How you receive feedback is especially important if it's coming from somebody you supervise. There's a power differential and the way you respond to developmental feedback from a direct report can make or break the degree of psychological safety they feel within the relationship. As a manager, you have a responsibility to make it as safe as possible for your direct reports to share feedback with you. Treat feedback as a gift and show appreciation for healthy feedback conversations. When you're receiving feedback, your first move is to pause, breathe, and thank the speaker.
